The Dune Flower, one of four cabins in the Mendocino Coast Dunes Retreat complex, is a great place for a small group to stay, though it can also be rented together with the other three houses for a fun-filled group vacation! This cabin has a charming nautical theme, a clean and comfortable design, and a dog-friendly attitude, so everyone will love it here! Up to four people are may stay in this one-bedroom, one-bathroom home which features a full-size bed in the bedroom and a comfortable fold-out futon. Feel free to bring your dogs to enjoy the vacation with you, though a nightly fee per dog and minimum fee per stay will apply. With a delightful nautical theme, you will feel very welcome in the living area, which comes complete with a TV, a DVD player, free WiFi access, and a cozy gas fireplace. There is no full kitchen, but the kitchenette offers a mini-fridge with a freezer, a microwave, a toaster oven (but no regular oven), and a small two-burner hot plate so you can whip up a snack easily.

In the grassy backyard area, privacy fencing will keep you separate from the other cabins. - "The house was adorable and perfect for our relaxed little family of four and fur kids. We are easy going and really don’t need too much. With that said it was a rainy weekend and the walk from our vehicle to the house was extremely wet, socks, shoes, bottom of pants soaked. A nice little stepping stone walkway would be awesome. But unlike the rest of my family I packed rain boots and didn’t have an issue. The area was serene the hike to the beach definitely a crows mile, we didn’t ever end up making it there as the kids gave up and we turned around and ended up driving to the beach. Situated near the dunes on the north side of MacKerricher State Park, this lovely house is about seven miles north of Fort Bragg. The ocean is a little more than half a mile to the west.

The Sandrahla boasts plenty of space for the whole family. The living room features a 50-inch TV, equipped with cable and a DVD player, and a green recliner. Grab a board game and test your mettle against the rest of the family or tickle the ivories on the upright piano. Just around the corner lies a formal dining room with seating for eight as well as a great room with a large brown sectional couch.

The kitchen offers a four-seat breakfast bar for your morning noshes as well as plenty of counter space to whip up a hearty repast. You get a gas range, dishwasher, and a wealth of accouterments to make the home chef happy. Outside, you will be delighted to find a large deck with a plethora of seating for al fresco dinners under the stars, and in the evenings, you can toast marshmallows in the outdoor firepit.

- "Very nice area - close to everything, yet far enough away from heavily traveled areas." - "On our way to Fort Bragg we received notification that our rented house with ocean view was canceled due to plumbing issues. Vacasa set us up with the Sandrahla within 30 minutes with us being on road. We had previously stayed at Sand Dollar and the Sandrahla is definitely a gem. Spacious house, big kitchen, comfortable beds, plenty of bathrooms, and beautiful yard. Hot tub was inoperable but there was a tub in bathroom. Your little private haven in the middle of the woods. The cabin was built in 1940 and has served as a family retreat until now. Newly remodeled, the cabin offers a modern trim with a cottage feel. Try our outdoor shower situated in the remnants of giant red wood. Explore the town and come back to a quiet and secluded refuge. Kick back and relax, no need to make the beds or finish the dishes, enjoy every minute of the house because it’s fully serviced after every stay.

The cabin does have a wood burning stove, but we ask guests not to use it and use the space heaters instead for heating purposes.

We provide a space heater but bringing your personal space heater is recommended during the chilly months.

We provide bedding for the 2 Queen beds, if more is needed. Please make a request as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate.

In addition to the steps at the front door, the kitchen has a sunken floor. Take extra care coming and going from the kitchen.

We have one security camera by the front door and the back patio, for the safety and security of the property.

Choose from numerous beautiful beaches 5–10 minutes away-Ten Mile, Pudding Creek, Virgin Creek (a local surfer’s favorite), Seaside, and Glass Beach. Or simply soak in the serene magic of old-growth redwoods right on the property. We’re also close to Fort Bragg town and all its amenities.

My only suggestions would be to provide bug spray or citronella candles. Bugs weren't crazy but those tiny mosquitoes were such an annoyance. As long as we kept moving, which we did, we weren't bothered. The properties little trails were fun, lots of surprises and areas we could sit and meditate for short periods. We wanted to take all our trash out however, traveling from Idaho we didn't plan on bringing any trash bags and we had to empty one of our luggage bags to remove the garbage. I do suggest having at least one bag on site for us travelers, traveling astronomical miles. The out house and outdoor shower, again amazing. I do give this place 5+ stars, I would travel back again and again."

The Sand Dollar, one of four cabins in the Mendocino Coast Dunes Retreat, can be rented together with the other three cabins or separately as a great place to stay during your amazing vacation. With a dog-friendly attitude and a comfortable interior, everyone will love it here!

Located right next to the dunes, about seven miles north of Fort Bragg, this vacation rental is in a great position for you to enjoy everything the area has to offer. The ocean is just over a half-mile away (though you will have to hike over some sand dunes), and MacKerricher State Park, well-known for its hiking trails and seal-watching, stretches to the south of this vacation home.

With one bedroom and one bathroom, this home can sleep up to six people, and is also dog-friendly. With a queen bed in the bedroom and two fold-out futons, a close-knit family or group of friends will be very comfortable here.

In the living room, you will find a large TV equipped with cable and a DVD player, plus board games and a lovely gas fireplace. You will also have a private laundry area, so there's no need to worry if your clothes get a little dirty during your vacation. Complimentary WiFi is also available.

Outside, you will discover a private deck and firepit. You will love roasting some marshmallows at the end of a fun-filled day.

This would be a fabulous cabin to rent on its own, or you could combine with family members, friends, coworkers, or others and rent all four cabins for a large event! With Fort Bragg 10 minutes south, and Mendocino about 25 minutes down the road, you will be surrounded by the beauty of nature but still close enough to the conveniences of the city.

The local area is in its drought season. We ask you to use the water very sparingly, as this home is on a well, and to be mindful of the situation and conserve as much water as possible.

If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The pet fee is per stay and ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog.

- "The location was beautiful and the house was nice, except that it hasn't been maintained. The hearing doesn't work and it took 8 hours to get the house up to 60 degrees inside using the space heaters. The dishwasher works, but it's missing all the wheels on the lower rack. There is a hot tub, but it didn't work. The microwave trips the breaker when you use it. The clothes washer works, but the handle for the soap dispenser is broken. There is a long list of stuff just like that. Overall, we had a good time, but having everything be broken was disappointing. It was also pretty clean, but a few dishes in the cupboards were dirty. Not really a big deal, but it completes the picture. The bed were very comfortable, there was plenty of space, and there is a nice, fenced and grassy back area for the dog. The location is stellar, and the house is pretty inside. I would rent it again in a heart beat and consider it a steal if all the little broken things were fixed. "

This 1 bedroom cabin is situated on 13 acres of a homestead that dates back to the 1800. It's looks out over an apple orchard, fields and is surrounded by large redwoods.

You are welcome to the field, and orchard. Property goes to the west to the fence line, to the east in the field, it goes to the area of a ditch. We will have trails to the south soon.

Clara's Cottage is located in Inglenook on several acres, just 10 minutes north of Fort Bragg in a unique microclimate with very little fog, tucked behind the MacKerricher dunes. Access to the dunes and MacKerricher State Beach is located at the end of our private lane.

Clara’s Cottage is a small, warm space with lots of light and easily heated with a glass-front wood stove (firewood provided). The studio accommodates 2 with a firm queen-size bed. There is a well-equipped kitchenette for light food preparation. A Weber charcoal BBQ is available for use off the outside patio area. Clara’s Cottage has an indoor 1/2 bath and an outdoor claw foot tub/shower located in a serene and private garden setting (think hot tub, hot springs ambiance).

Owners reside on the property and greet guests personally and enjoy making recommendations for restaurants, activities, hikes, etc. There are abundant opportunities for hiking, bird watching and beach-combing nearby. The cottage is equipped with excellent hiking and bicycling guidebooks.

This cute cabin is set back on a beautiful wooded 2.5 acres. It is adjacent to Jackson Demonstration State Park which provides miles of hiking and biking trails. The space is perfect for small families with a sofabed in the living room for the kids. We have books, games and highchair for little ones on request. We are dog friendly, so even Fido can have fun exploring. Kona Cabin is a great home base for all of your Coast adventures. Spend the day hiking, playing at the beach, kayaking up Noyo river, or just relaxing at the cabin gazing at the majestic Redwoods. You will not be disappointed.

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire property. The wooded yard extends to just past the fire pit and to the firewood storage structure. Please note that the firewood is not provided- the wood on the structure belongs to the neighbors. The trails to Jackson State Forest are accessed to the right of the cabin ( if your standing looking at the cabin)- the direction you traveled when driving in to the property. (keep going south)

Other things to note
Our cabin is in a beautifully wooded area. In the winter we tend to get a lot of rain and occasional storms. Power outages may occur. While we are prepared for this with flashlights, and battery motion lights in the house, we want guests to understand this potential. We have a generator that can be set up for extended outages as well as.

The property is not full fenced so please keep this in mind if bringing your pet.

We follow burn restrictions and may limit use of the fire pit during high fire danger periods.

Transient Occupancy Tax - A 11% TOT tax required by Mendocino County is included when you book.

Relax and reconnect in our groovy cabin on 2 acres in coastal Mendocino. Built in the 1970s - we lovingly updated our home with bamboo floors but were careful to maintain its vintage feel. Forest bathe in a private redwood grove, sit on the deck to watch the grazing deer, open the glass doors for an indoor/outdoor vibe. Located in the sunbelt - 3 miles from the beach and the town of Fort Bragg. Perfect for a couple or close group of friends. Pets welcome!

The cabin, with two full bathrooms, is perfect for a couple but the extra beds make it work for families, two couples, or groups of close friends - up to 6 people who are comfortable sleeping without a lot of walls between them. Please note - the loft area and deck make this home unsuitable for small children. If you have children and are interested in booking, please reach out so we can discuss first. We have games, a few art supplies, a record player and some records as well as some reading material - we love the cabin and we hope you will too!

The whole house is yours! There is another structure on the property - a garage with a small studio apartment "The Nest" that we occasionally rent separately or occupy. That means that you may wander into another couple on the property, but your spaces are completely separate. The cabin is very private from The Nest and you will have it all to your self.

Other things to note
Feel free to keep a fire going in the wood stove. We ask that you refrain from taking baths and conserve water as much as possible due to the devastating drought in our region. No bonfires on property during the summer season.

A large south facing deck offers space to unwind with access to a handmade cedar hot tub and BBQ grill. Inside you’ll find a sunken living room, fireplace, large built-in sofa, 2 bedrooms, vinyl record player, and more. Perfect for a couple’s getaway, solo trip or small family.

The space
I purchased the land in 2017. A full year of designing/permitting had us breaking ground in the summer of 2018. The cabin was designed by AAA Architecture in San Francisco (thanks Randy!) The custom home was built by Walker Enterprises of Fort Bragg, CA (thanks, Chris and crew!) It was my intention to offer a tranquil, whimsical home with enticing nature at hand...a place where people gather, build connections, share memories and make quality time for one another. Also..fun...tons-o-fun!

The main entrance is located in the front of the house. You’ll make your way up the slightly inclined front ramp to the front door.

Other things to note
The Hot Tub will be hovering in the mid to high 90’s when you arrive, some find this temp to be delightful. If you choose to raise the temp to 100-103 you’ll have to make a small fire in the self-contained hot tub stove (all necessary materials will be provided for you.) Fresh-cut wood is located directly next to the hot tub stove, newspaper and matches are located inside the house near the interior fireplace. A 20 min self-contained fire will raise the temp to your liking.
