- "Nice little 2 bedroom place close to the Sac River." - "We came from the north to meet friends from the south for a fishing trip. And the cottage was clean, neat and comfortable. The kitchen had amenities like spices and zip lock bags and dish soap which was really appreciated. Yes, the railroad is nearby, but it really didn't disrupt our visit or sleep. We hope to return for another visit!" - "Although this cabin is close to the tracks and river, and the train is fairly loud, we didn't mind. It's actually my toddlers favorite part. The cabin was cute but small, very clean, and has all the utensils you need to cook. Its a bit too tight if you need to bring a play pen for a toddler to sleep, so be aware, but otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!"

We were not disappointed. The cabin was just right for us, clean and updated with thoughtful details in the decor and setup. We had a small facilities issue while we stayed, but the management was extremely prompt and courteous and attempted to address it immediately. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again."

- "Overall, the property looks great, although, we didn't utilize any of the amenities since we were only staying one night. Something I wish I'd realized ahead of time is that for these particular cabins, there is only enough hot water for a 5 minute shower. The welcome packet says to limit showers to 10 minutes but in my experience, the hot water lasted about 5 minutes. The bathroom is pretty small, but has everything you'd need. The kitchen has everything you might need to prepare meals. The king size bed was very firm. Check in process was very easy and communication with staff was via text and they responded promptly. "

- "My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Banyan cabin. It was very tranquil and allowed us to destress very easily. The cabin is in excellent condition with the kitchen bearing a nice modern look. There was a washer and dryer in the cabin which allowed us to wash some of our clothes no problem. Management was nice and friendly and helped us check into the cabin easily. The neighborhood is very quiet, except for a couple of trains that pass by (we didn't mind the trains though). Overall, I'd recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a nice, spacious and calm place to relax."

The Lil Overlook is a cabin built on a rock outcropping. The back deck is a relaxing place to sit and enjoy a meal. You can see (& hear) the train below and the train whistle blows at the bridge crossing over the Sacramento River.

The space
Located in historic Shasta Retreat, Dunsmuir CA. This property features one cabin in the front with two full bathrooms and a sleeping cabin in the back. ***Please note...we are having repairs done to the sleeping cabin, so the sleeping cabin isn’t available at this time.

MAIN CABIN:
•Sleeps two ideally,
•Open floor-plan with nice size deck off the front door.
•Wonderful King size bed with plenty of pillows.
•TV: there’s a smart tv in the living room for you to sign into your Netflix account, YouTube, Hulu and other apps. There is NO cable or local tv lineup.
•Kitchen has a slab granite counter, a microwave/ toaster, fridge/ freezer and coffee maker. There is the necessary pots and pans, dishes and glassware. The kitchen is also stocked with some seasonings and a selection of teas.
•There are two bathrooms, one is tiled and features a walk-in shower, washer and dryer. The other bathroom has a bathtub/shower. Hairdryer.
•Ironing board and iron.
•On the deck there is a table and chairs. In the back there is a picnic table.

SLEEPING CABIN: (Currently not available)…see above)

When the sleeping cabin is available…
•Keep in mind. ACCESS TO SLEEPING CABIN IS AVAILABLE ONLY IF RENTED FOR 3-4 PEOPLE Parties of two may have access to the sleeping cabin for an additional charge. The sleeping cabin is just a room only. There’s no bathroom and is a separate building from the main cabin.

•the WiFi signal in the little sleeping cabin may be weak because of its distance from the main cabin.

This property is just steps away from the Sacramento River and a short hike to Mossbrae Falls. (currently it is trespassing to walk along the railroad to Mossbrae Falls, so proceed at your own risk). Some of the other recreations activities include fly fishing, hiking, biking, golfing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, sledding, skiing, snowboarding, climbing, snowmobiling...

The Shasta Retreat Cabin is the perfect destination for a ski vacation, ultimate fishing trip, couples getaway or private retreat.

Shasta Retreat Cabin is located several hundred feet from the railroad tracks, so train noise be heard.

Also, Interstate 5 noise can be faintly noticed.

There's no telephone, so be sure you have a cellular phone!

The space
This unique property is literally on the river. Fish from your patio, or soak your feet - but best of all just enjoy! There is a smart tv and internet - but no television service will be provided. please keep in mind we do live in the mountains, cell service and internet can be patchy and slow at times. You may have to stand in a corner with one arm in the air and head tilted to the right to get that bar on your phone - or better yet, leave it at the door and get away from it all! There is a train on the other side of the river, so as described below it is loud a few times a day. However, you can't be on the river in Dunsmuir and not have the Train. Air conditioning was installed in 2022!

The entire home. Please keep in mind the owners do vacation here, so there are lots of books and games, all for your use.

Other things to note
The railroad also runs nearby and this can be loud at times. However, you can't be on the river without the train in Dunsmuir. As of July 2019, we have a new housekeeper, so the ratings should be going up from here forward.

The space
There are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed. There is one bathroom with a shower and a bath tub. Full kitchen with everything needed for cooking including spices, coffee, pancake mix, all pots and pans, kitchenware and a community pantry. Guests have access to all of pantry goods and utensils etc. in the kitchen.

Guests have access to the full flat, parking spot, and the back porch. We will not be there, there is fully independent check in and check out.
