Some of our favorites include Yaks on the 5 which has artisan burgers and famous sticky buns; Cafe Maddalena for romantic dinners with South European-inspired cuisine; and the Pizza Factory for delicious pizzas and calzones. And our spring-fed drinking water? It’s legendary. No filter is needed!

The Mt. The dining area is open to the kitchen, making it effortless to interact between the two. Vintage mixed with modern touches set a playful mood while a forestry canvas and more elk decor continue the woodland theme. Enjoy home-cooked meals at our wood table which seats four guests. And after dinner, settle in for a family game night with cards and board games or have a soak in the claw foot bathtub just before bed..

Our kitchen invites you to hang out and cook together, just like at home. It is white and bright, with sunlight streaming in during the day. You’ll have all the appliances, cookware, and dishware you will need, plus lots of counter space!

We also provide cooking spices and a coffee & tea station with all the works: Think a coffee pot, French press, coffee grinder, Bialetti Moka espresso maker, electric kettle, creamer, sugar, tea bags, and coffee beans from the local Northbound Coffee Roasters.

Our one bedroom has a queen size bed and is perfect for a post-adventure nap or a good night’s sleep. There is a window and nature/wildlife artwork, gorgeous botanical elk wallpaper, plus bedside tables with lamps, several pillows, and bright white bedding. Two roll-away beds can be found in the closet and easily set up in the living room.

FULL BATHROOM

Our bathroom has plenty of space and amenities for everyone. There is an updated vanity and lots of open shelving. The claw foot tub doubles for a shower, so you can bliss out with a bath when the mood strikes. To make your stay even more comfortable, we provide these amenities: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, lotion, cotton swabs, and balls.

AC & HEAT

There are electric wall heaters inside the bedroom and all throughout the home. During the colder months, our mountain home stays quite toasty! Our A/C works well in the summer months to keep you cool.

Other things to note

DUPLEX

This home is a duplex, and there is another unit below this unit. The home is on the main first floor just off the street level. The guest can't access the downstairs unit or the backyard. The front yard will be for your use only. The only area you share is the driveway. NO parts of the unit are shared.

TRAINS

As a historic railway town, Dunsmuir has trains that pass through 4-5 times a day. The earliest train comes around 9:00 am while the last one comes during the night. While you may faintly hear a train while inside the house, they are not disruptive to most people. Please reach out if you have any questions – I’m happy to help.

PETS

We’re happy to host your furry friends. We can accept up to two dogs or cats for a nominal $20 fee per stay. All pets must be house-trained.

QUIET HOURS

Thank you for observing our quiet hours between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am. This ensures the peace of the neighborhood and our standing as courteous neighbors.

TRASH DAY

As our trash day is on Thursdays: an employee usually comes to the house on Wednesday evenings to roll our outside trash bins to the street. The bins are then returned near the front porch on Thursdays. One less thing for you to worry about!

GUEST LIMIT

Our Birch Tree Mountain Getaway can accommodate up to four guests total. To minimize wear and tear on our home, outside guests are not allowed. The second unit may be available to rent for those who have large groups, please inquire.

SMOKING

To keep our home fresh and clean for everyone, smoking is not permitted inside. If smoke is detected, a $300 fee will be applied to your reservation. You can, however, smoke in the backyard (please close the sliding glass doors and windows).

PARKING

Our driveway is available for you to use for one car. Please park in the driveway on days when snow falls so our street can be plowed and you don’t get snowed in. Please note that the other rental may have a guest and they will also need to park in the driveway.

Additional Parking/Snow Removal:

Additional cars can park on the street, except when snow is expected. Snow removal generally takes place when we’ve accumulated approximately three inches of snow on the ground. On street parking is prohibited during snow removal, therefore, vehicles left on the street may be subject to tow at the owner’s expense (Municipal Code 10.04.010). Snow plows will complete a minimum of two passes down each side of the street in order to keep travel lanes open to safe passage. Residents/Guests are asked to stay informed about forecasts of snow accumulations and to plan accordingly.

Designated Parking Areas: Limited parking is available at the South City Hall parking lot, North City Hall parking lot and at the community building in North Dunsmuir. These areas are for temporary use during snow storms.

The Neighborhood:
Dunsmuir is a charming and friendly town that is very unique. You are within walking distance to downtown with local shops, brewery, hardwood store, coffee stand, cafe, performing arts center with live music, art museum, and the Sacramento River.

Getting Around:
Car is the best way to get around Dunsmuir and the surrounding area. However, if you are a train traveler, ride the Amtrak and walk to local restaurants, entertainment, and enjoy hikes to the nearby waterfalls.

Interaction with Guests:
You will get into the house with a code for the front door lock. We are always available for questions, concerns, help with finding local recommendations, and any emergencies. It is our hope that you enjoy your stay and have a memorable experience staying in our home.

Our backyard is a garden oasis where you can feel the spirit of Mount Shasta. Filled with blooms and lush vines, it has two patios for your family to enjoy. Sip coffee by the sliding glass doors, and listen to the river that gently flows just beyond the fence. A dining patio further out in the yard is where you can eat meals beneath the shade of an umbrella. Feeling like an afternoon cookout? Fire up our BBQ grill and bring out some beers. And at night, hang out for hours among the hanging lights and sparkly stars above.

On the side of the house, you’ll also find a secret little spot with a bistro table and two chairs. This is a lovely place for reflection and quiet time.

The entrance to the home is located through the backyard and requires you to walk through the door to backyard, down some stairs and down a winding paved path to the back deck. The door to the home is located off of the back deck and has a smart lock. The backyard is reserved for you during your stay.

LIVING & DINING AREA
Our living room is just the place to relax after days of exploring the wild beauty of the region. You’ll find lots of natural light in here and woodsy decor. Curl up on the sofa for a movie, share stories, or play games and laugh. Other touches include mountain art and accent walls with wildlife.

The dining area is open to the kitchen, making it effortless to interact between the two. This space is modern, sleek, and has windows facing the outdoor deck area. Enjoy home-cooked meals at our table which seats four guests. And after dinner, settle in for a family game night with cards and board games, relax by the outdoor fire, and gaze at the stars just before bed..

KITCHEN
Our kitchen invites you to hang out and cook together, just like at home. It is white and bright, with sunlight streaming in during the day. You’ll have all the appliances, cookware, and dishware you will need, plus lots of counter space!

We also provide cooking spices and a coffee & tea station with all the works: including a coffee pot, French press, coffee grinder, Bialetti Moka espresso maker, electric kettle, creamer, sugar, tea bags, and coffee beans from the local Northbound Coffee Roasters.

Our one bedroom has a full size bed and is perfect for a post-adventure nap or a good night’s sleep. There is a window and nature/wildlife artwork, gorgeous botanical wildlife wallpaper, plus bedside tables with lamps, several pillows, and bright white bedding. The daybed doubles as more seating or can be used as one single bed or two single beds that lay side by side.

FULL BATHROOM
Our bathroom has plenty of space and amenities for everyone. There is an updated vanity, lots of open shelving, and a full sized tile shower. To make your stay even more comfortable, we provide these amenities: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, lotion, cotton swabs, and balls.

THE GARDEN
You can access the Birch Tree Garden Getaway and all it's amenities any time during your stay with our secure, key-less entry. Exclusive access to the kitchen, living room, bathroom, two closets, and bedroom. The backyard has a beautiful deck, gas BBQ, and fireplace that is exclusive to the Garden guests but is serviced by our staff regularly.

AC & HEAT
There are electric wall heaters inside the bedroom and all throughout the home. During the colder months, our mountain home stays quite toasty! Our A/C works well in the summer months to keep you cool.

The Neighborhood:
Dunsmuir is such a charming and friendly town that is very unique. You are within walking distance to downtown with local shops, brewery, hardwood store, coffee stand, cafe, performing arts center with live music, art museum, and the Sacramento River.

Getting Around:
Car is the best way to get around Dunsmuir and the surrounding area. However, if you are a train traveler, take the Amtrak and walk to restaurants, entertainment, and local waterfalls

Other Things to Note:
TRAINS
As a historic railway town, Dunsmuir has trains that pass through 4-5 times a day. The earliest train comes around 9:00 am while the last one comes during the night. While you may faintly hear a train while inside the house, they are not disruptive to most people. Please reach out if you have any questions – I’m happy to help.

PETS
We’re happy to host your furry friends. We can accept up to two dogs or cats for a nominal $20 fee per stay. All pets must be house-trained.

PRIVACY NOTICE
Access to the garden yard is exclusive to the Birch Tree Garden guests only. Our staff is courteous at maintaining the highest level of privacy possible to our guests. The yards are regularly maintained by our groundskeepers and the housekeeping team which will require access through the garden yard.

QUIET HOURS
Thank you for observing our quiet hours between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am. This ensures the peace of the neighborhood and our standing as courteous neighbors. Although our guests agree to follow quiet hours, you may hear the upstairs guest(s) during your stay. Between the hours of 11:00 am and 4:00 pm, you may hear the nearby laundry room being used by the cleaning team during the upper level turnover.

TRASH DAY
As our trash day is on Thursdays: an employee usually comes to the house on Wednesday evenings to roll our outside trash bins to the street. The bins are then returned near the front porch on Thursdays. One less thing for you to worry about!

GUEST LIMIT
Our Birch Tree Garden Getaway can accommodate up to four guests total. To minimize wear and tear on our home, outside guests are not allowed. The second unit may be available to rent for those who have large groups, please inquire.

SMOKING
To keep our home fresh and clean for everyone, smoking is not permitted inside. If smoke is detected, a $300 fee will be applied to your reservation. You can, however, smoke in the backyard (please close the sliding glass doors and windows).

PARKING
Our driveway is available for you to use for one car. Please park in the driveway on days when snow falls so our street can be plowed and you don’t get snowed in. Please note that the other rental may have a guest and they will also need to park in the driveway.

Additional Parking/Snow Removal:
Additional cars can park on the street, except when snow is expected. Snow removal generally takes place when we’ve accumulated approximately three inches of snow on the ground. On street parking is prohibited during snow removal, therefore, vehicles left on the street may be subject to tow at the owner’s expense (Municipal Code 10.04.010). Snow plows will complete a minimum of two passes down each side of the street in order to keep travel lanes open to safe passage. Residents/Guests are asked to stay informed about forecasts of snow accumulations and to plan accordingly.
Designated Parking Areas: Limited parking is available at the South City Hall parking lot, North City Hall parking lot and at the community building in North Dunsmuir. These areas are for temporary use during snow storms.

This unique vacation home is made for people who love to hike, ski, and explore the outdoors. It is located in the Northern California town of Dunsmuir, California. Only minutes away from Mt. Shasta. This quirky vacation home is near the downtown district and within easy walking distance to local shops and restaurants. We are 420 friendly and provide guests with complimentary a pre-roll upon arrival.

Inside this 100 year old historic home you will find a restored vintage stereo system complete with vinyl records, CD’s and cassettes of classic rock and 90’s era favorites. Around the corner from Hiker’s Haven is a music store selling records and cassette tapes so you can always find even more of your favorite songs.

Enjoy the cocktail table video game console stocked with over 400 classic arcade games like Frogger, Donkey Kong, and Ms. Pac-Man. Play as much as you want for FREE!

In the bedroom you’ll find a modern day queen-sized waveless waterbed with satin sheets and blackout curtains for day sleepers. It has a 4 drawer dresser and large closet for extended stays.

The living room has a large smart tv, a modern wood stove for colder nights, and a pull-out sofa bed with flannel sheets for additional guests. The coffee table surface lifts to accommodate workers and writers who may use a laptop computer. Free WiFi is provided throughout the house and backyard.

The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils and appliances ready to cook your own meals, and comes with a pub style dining table with a pull-down lamp for gatherings with friends to eat and drink, play board games, and construct jigsaw puzzles.

A laundry room has a washer, dryer, and ironing board for your use.

We also provide a full sized massage table and percussive massage machine to massage fellow guests. And we also provide a list of local massage therapists you can book by appointment ready to come to this location.

Outside in the very private backyard is a propane bbq, a dining table, and a staircase which leads to the Main Street. You’ll find a brewery/restaurant, pizza parlor, grocery store, library, and post office within a few minutes walk. The yard also has a clothesline to dry blankets and sleeping bags and is fenced to contain small and medium sized dogs inside. We are pet friendly and love dogs (and cats!).

The residence is across from the Sacramento River and a rail yard. Trains chug along across the river and sometimes stop to add extra train cars. An Amtrak station is only a block away for train traveling friends and guests.

If you enjoy trout fishing we provide 3 ready to go fishing poles, a stocked tackle box, a fishing vest, net, waders and little portable fishing chairs. Dunsmuir is famous for its trout fishing and you can walk or drive to a variety of perfect fishing holes along the river to fish or just relax.

Or if you prefer biking or kayaking we provide 2 mountain bikes for your use and an inflatable 2 person kayak and 2 paddles and life vests. It’s easy to transport this sturdy inflatable kayak in a small car and inflate it on location at the many local lakes nearby with the included pump. We also provide backpacks for hikers to use during their stay at Hiker’s Haven.

Within a 10 mile drive north is beautiful Lake Siskiyou which has swimming, fishing, hiking, kayaking, paddle boats for rent, camping, and an 18 hole golf course. The nearby City of Mt. Shasta has restaurants and mountain and rock climbing opportunities on 14,000 foot tall Mt. Shasta. The Mt. Shasta Ski Park and Nordic Center is only 20 minutes away from Hiker’s Haven and provides downhill skiing/snowboarding and also groomed trails for x-country skiing.

Only 5 miles south down I-5 is Castle Crags State Park with more fishing, swimming, hiking, and wildlife viewing opportunities.

We talked and got to know a number of the locals. We were also super close to tons of amazing hikes! In the evenings we would put on some music and play arcade games for a few hours. Early in our stay, our anxious pup unfortunately damaged their front door. Leslie was super responsive and came over to look at it right away. She asked if a crate would help us enjoy the trip more as we could leave more frequently, and when we agreed, she brought one over right away. - "Overall, the property looks great, although, we didn't utilize any of the amenities since we were only staying one night. Something I wish I'd realized ahead of time is that for these particular cabins, there is only enough hot water for a 5 minute shower. The welcome packet says to limit showers to 10 minutes but in my experience, the hot water lasted about 5 minutes. The bathroom is pretty small, but has everything you'd need. The kitchen has everything you might need to prepare meals. The king size bed was very firm. Check in process was very easy and communication with staff was via text and they responded promptly. "

- "My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Banyan cabin. It was very tranquil and allowed us to destress very easily. The cabin is in excellent condition with the kitchen bearing a nice modern look. There was a washer and dryer in the cabin which allowed us to wash some of our clothes no problem. Management was nice and friendly and helped us check into the cabin easily. The neighborhood is very quiet, except for a couple of trains that pass by (we didn't mind the trains though). Overall, I'd recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a nice, spacious and calm place to relax."

Huge trees on the terraced lot. Two decks (Front and back). There is a propane BBQ on the back deck. Very peaceful! Fenced back yard for pets. Walking distance to the center of town. Five blocks to the Sacramento River.

The space
The house is set back in the lot and has two bedrooms with Queen size beds in each. It has one bathroom with a tub and shower. There is a washer and dryer inside. The living room sofa is a hide a bed if an extra bed is needed. Just for fun it is sometimes nice to camp on the hide a bed and watch TV with the wood stove providing a nice warm space for winter time stays.

Guest access
The house has a Smartbox on the door and the house is all yours for your stay! Punch in the code, then push the lock button in the center of the lock and it will open. When leaving, pull the door snug and push the lock button in the center to lock.

Other things to note
There should be kindling and wood by the front door. If you run out, there is a wood shed at the top of the driveway. In the summertime, the overhead fans are usually adequate but if you would like extra cooling, there is an A/C unit in the window above the washer.

This one bedroom home from the 1930’s reminds us of nature at every turn, from the mountain decor throughout, to the playful nature inspired wallpaper, and the stunning views that await you. The lower-level unit of this duplex has a large yard and garden with a beautiful deck, gas BBQ , hot tub, and fireplace, and chairs to enjoy the outdoors. The space has been updated to fit modern comforts. It's within walking distance from charming downtown Dunsmuir, a historic railroad town, within ten minutes of downtown Mount Shasta, and only 20 minutes from Mount Shasta Ski Park. This is a home that has a unit upstairs and downstairs. Each unit is entirely separate. you will have access to the downstairs and the entire backyard. The upper level may be available to rent if you are with a larger group or want to rent the entire home, please inquire.

Or stroll to the heart of charming Dunsmuir in 10 minutes. Here, you’ll find buildings from the early 1900's and a bevy of restaurants. Some of our favorites include Yaks on the 5 which has artisan burgers and famous sticky buns; Cafe Maddalena for romantic dinners with South European-inspired cuisine; and the Pizza Factory for delicious pizzas and calzones. And our spring-fed drinking water? It’s legendary. No filter is needed!

The Mt. Shasta Ski Park is only 16 miles away, in addition, the Castle Crags State Park where you can hike among otherworldly spires of granite is just 6 miles away – go fishing, rock climbing, or even ride horses. The entrance to the home is located through the backyard and requires you to walk through the door to backyard, down some stairs and down a winding paved path to the back deck. The door to the home is located off of the back deck and has a smart lock. The backyard is reserved for you during your stay.

Our living room is just the place to relax after days of exploring the wild beauty of the region. You’ll find lots of natural light in here and woodsy decor. Curl up on the sofa for a movie, share stories, or play games and laugh. Other touches include mountain art and accent walls with wildlife.

The dining area is open to the kitchen, making it effortless to interact between the two. This space is modern, sleek, and has windows facing the outdoor deck area. Enjoy home-cooked meals at our table which seats four guests. And after dinner, settle in for a family game night with cards and board games, relax by the outdoor fire, and gaze at the stars just before bed..

KITCHEN
Our kitchen invites you to hang out and cook together, just like at home. It is white and bright, with sunlight streaming in during the day. You’ll have all the appliances, cookware, and dishware you will need, plus lots of counter space!

We also provide cooking spices and a coffee & tea station with all the works: including a coffee pot, French press, coffee grinder, Bialetti Moka espresso maker, electric kettle, creamer, sugar, tea bags, and coffee beans from the local Northbound Coffee Roasters.

Our one bedroom has a full size bed and is perfect for a post-adventure nap or a good night’s sleep. There is a window and nature/wildlife artwork, gorgeous botanical wildlife wallpaper, plus bedside tables with lamps, several pillows, and bright white bedding. The daybed doubles as more seating or can be used as one single bed or two single beds that lay side by side.

FULL BATHROOM
Our bathroom has plenty of space and amenities for everyone. There is an updated vanity, lots of open shelving, and a full sized tile shower. To make your stay even more comfortable, we provide these amenities: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, lotion, cotton swabs, and balls.

You can access the Birch Tree Garden Getaway and all it's amenities any time during your stay with our secure, key-less entry. Exclusive access to the kitchen, living room, bathroom, two closets, and bedroom. The backyard has a beautiful deck, gas BBQ, and fireplace that is exclusive to the Garden guests but is serviced by our staff regularly.

We’re happy to host your furry friends. We can accept up to two dogs or cats for a nominal $20 fee per stay. All pets must be house-trained.

PRIVACY NOTICE
Access to the garden yard is exclusive to the Birch Tree Garden guests only. Our staff is courteous at maintaining the highest level of privacy possible to our guests. The yards are regularly maintained by our groundskeepers and the housekeeping team which will require access through the garden yard.

QUIET HOURS
Thank you for observing our quiet hours between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am. This ensures the peace of the neighborhood and our standing as courteous neighbors. Although our guests agree to follow quiet hours, you may hear the upstairs guest(s) during your stay. Between the hours of 11:00 am and 4:00 pm, you may hear the nearby laundry room being used by the cleaning team during the upper level turnover.

TRASH DAY
As our trash day is on Thursdays: an employee usually comes to the house on Wednesday evenings to roll our outside trash bins to the street. The bins are then returned near the front porch on Thursdays. One less thing for you to worry about!

GUEST LIMIT
Our Birch Tree Garden Getaway can accommodate up to four guests total. To minimize wear and tear on our home, outside guests are not allowed. The second unit may be available to rent for those who have large groups, please inquire.

SMOKING
To keep our home fresh and clean for everyone, smoking is not permitted inside. If smoke is detected, a $300 fee will be applied to your reservation. You can, however, smoke in the backyard (please close the sliding glass doors and windows).

PARKING
Our driveway is available for you to use for one car. Please park in the driveway on days when snow falls so our street can be plowed and you don’t get snowed in. Please note that the other rental may have a guest and they will also need to park in the driveway.

Additional Parking/Snow Removal:
Additional cars can park on the street, except when snow is expected. Snow removal generally takes place when we’ve accumulated approximately three inches of snow on the ground. On street parking is prohibited during snow removal, therefore, vehicles left on the street may be subject to tow at the owner’s expense (Municipal Code 10.04.010). Snow plows will complete a minimum of two passes down each side of the street in order to keep travel lanes open to safe passage. Residents/Guests are asked to stay informed about forecasts of snow accumulations and to plan accordingly.
Designated Parking Areas: Limited parking is available at the South City Hall parking lot, North City Hall parking lot and at the community building in North Dunsmuir. These areas are for temporary use during snow storms.

The space
5 minute walk to access a trail to world famous fly fishing on the Sacramento River, Tauhindauli Park, the botanical gardens, city park, playground and the Dunsmuir community pool.

The small splash pool is lovely for relaxing on a float after a day of exploring.

Enjoy walking/biking/skating to everything in Dunsmuir. Fresh produce on Thursdays from 3-5 pm at the Dunsmuir Farmer’s Market two blocks away or drive to Mount Shasta on Mondays from 3:30-6pm.

An older yet effective AC unit cools the whole house. There are ceiling fans in two of the three bedrooms and the shade from trees surrounding the property keeps it consistently comfortable in the hotter months.

During cold weather there is a wood burning stove* in the living room and each bedroom has a thermostat heater to keep you toasty.

The front yard and backyard patio are both available to guests. During warm weather there are hammocks for relaxing, a propane bbq**, outdoor patio furniture and a picnic table for use. To access the backyard, bbq area and rear patio, guests walk around the east side of the house.

There is one room unavailable to guests; it is used for storage of the owner's items, cleaning and maintenance.

The living room has a comfy sofa that opens to a double bed. The windows provide a view of the surrounding mountains. A modern wood-stove is available for cold winter nights. A restored vintage stereo is available for playing 70’s and 80’s era vinyl, and a CD player with lots of 90’s era music. A retro cocktail table arcade game is loaded with over 400 classic arcade games with limitless free play.

The bedroom has a brand new waveless watered with satin sheets. A 4-drawer dresser and large closet is available for extended stays. Blackout curtains keep the room dark for day sleepers.

The bathroom was restored to keep the original bathtub and toilet. A lighted shower niche provides extra light.

There is a full kitchen and coffee bar ready for you to cook your own meals.

The laundry room has a stackable washer/dryer and an ironing board.

The backyard has chairs for gathering around and a propane bbq for grilling. The backyard is fenced enough to secure small dogs. A leash run is secured to a tree for those who may want to keep dogs under close watch. A staircase in the backyard leads to the Main Street and is right across from the Dunsmuir Brewery and a Children’s playground. The backyard is very private and no neighbors can see or hear you.

Guests have access to the whole 2nd floor (living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, laundry.) The 3rd floor is closed for renovations and will be available in 2025. The garage on the first floor (street level) is available for guests to access outdoor equipment (in summer months) and children’s accessories we happily provide for free. We offer 2 mountain bikes (in summer months), a 2 person inflatable kayak (in summer months) and pack n play and high chair (year round).

Other things to note
If you like to ski or snowboard we are only minutes away from Mt. Shasta Ski Park and Nordic Center. We also provide 2 sets of snowshoes and a sled for kids if guests want to explore areas of deep snow. Fun!

If you like to trout fish, or want to learn, we provide 3 fishing poles, a fully stocked tackle box, fishing stools and a fishing vest.

For outdoor enthusiasts we provide 2 mountain bikes with helmets (in summer months). We also provide an inflatable 2 person kayak (in summer months) which is perfect for guests with small cars who want to transport the kayak to nearby lakes and inflate it onsite with the foot pump we also provide.

For romantics and those seeking relaxation we provide a full size massage table and percussive massage machine (Thumper) so you can give your parter (or receive) a relaxing massage in the residence or backyard.

Located in historic Shasta Retreat, Dunsmuir CA. This property features one cabin in the front with two full bathrooms and a sleeping cabin in the back. ***Please note...we are having repairs done to the sleeping cabin, so the sleeping cabin isn’t available at this time.

MAIN CABIN:

•TV: there’s a smart tv in the living room for you to sign into your Netflix account, YouTube, Hulu and other apps. There is NO cable or local tv lineup.
•Kitchen has a slab granite counter, a microwave/ toaster, fridge/ freezer and coffee maker. There is the necessary pots and pans, dishes and glassware. The kitchen is also stocked with some seasonings and a selection of teas.
•There are two bathrooms, one is tiled and features a walk-in shower, washer and dryer. The other bathroom has a bathtub/shower. Hairdryer.
•Ironing board and iron.
•On the deck there is a table and chairs. In the back there is a picnic table.

This property is just steps away from the Sacramento River and a short hike to Mossbrae Falls. (currently it is trespassing to walk along the railroad to Mossbrae Falls, so proceed at your own risk). Some of the other recreations activities include fly fishing, hiking, biking, golfing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, sledding, skiing, snowboarding, climbing, snowmobiling...

The Shasta Retreat Cabin is the perfect destination for a ski vacation, ultimate fishing trip, couples getaway or private retreat.

Shasta Retreat Cabin is located several hundred feet from the railroad tracks, so train noise be heard.

Also, Interstate 5 noise can be faintly noticed.

There is a smart tv and internet - but no television service will be provided. please keep in mind we do live in the mountains, cell service and internet can be patchy and slow at times. You may have to stand in a corner with one arm in the air and head tilted to the right to get that bar on your phone - or better yet, leave it at the door and get away from it all! There is a train on the other side of the river, so as described below it is loud a few times a day. However, you can't be on the river in Dunsmuir and not have the Train. Air conditioning was installed in 2022!

Our cozy home is equipped with 2 bedrooms with queen beds, a fully stocked kitchen, relaxing bathtub, and a Roku TV with Netflix. We also have a wall mounted Tesla charger!

The entire house is accessible to guests, including the front garden and backyard.

Other things to note
-There is a grill in the backyard, however local regulations do not allow us to use it due to fire risk. If you have a portable propane grill, you are welcome to bring and use that!

-Well behaved dogs are welcome, however we charge an extra $50 pet fee per stay. Please include the number of dogs you are bringing in the guest count when booking your reservation. Maximum of 2 dogs are allowed. Failure to include pets in the booking or notify the host that you are bringing pets will result in a charge of $200.

Dogs must be well-behaved, leashed when outside, and not left unattended in the home. Dogs are not allowed on any furniture. Please pick up all dog waste and dispose of in the garbage can. If any damages occur or extra cleaning is necessary due to dogs, you will be charged accordingly.

The home is filled with everything you need to getaway. Fully stocked kitchen with a beautiful patio in the back yard to hang out on. Come relax with your friends and family in the quaint town of Dunsmuir, CA.

The space
Bedroom 1: Queen bed with a comfortable down comforter. We have 4 pillows on this bed to help maximize your comfort. There is access to the sunroom with two glass French doors. The room comes with black out blinds and curtains to cover the French doors for privacy. A small wardrobe to hang clothes is provided as well.

Bedroom 2: Queen bed with a comfortable down comforter. We have 4 pillows on this bed to help maximize your comfort. The room has black out blinds and curtains for privacy. There is a stunning antique dresser for your clothes as well as a closet. Provided in the closet is two luggage racks.


Bathroom:
Walk in shower with dual shower heads. We provide lotion, cotton swaps and pads, and some extras in case you forget your own. There is a first aid kit in the drawer.

1.5 bathroom:
Is located in the basement. There is a vented heater located on the left when you walk in.


Living Room:
Large sectional couch with plenty of room for all of our guest. A small white table to use for dinning or to get some work done. There are some board games in the baskets under the TV. Our TV is a smart TV so you are able to log into your favorite apps. Please remember to log out when leaving the property

Kitchen: Fully stocked kitchen for all your cooking needs. Please feel free to use anything you find in the kitchen. We have a crockpot, blender and lots of pots and pans. We provide a regular drip coffee pot and a Kureg. A few pods and coffee should be in the cupboard or freezer.

Wood Room: Great room to sip your morning coffee. There is a small couch with a pull out couch with full size bed and two chairs in this room. There are linens provided for this bed in hall linen closet. Great place to sit when it is a snowy day.

We have a washer and dryer located in the basement.

Back Yard: Large wood patio with a small table and chairs. The garden is currently not finished.

NO PARTIES ARE ALLOWED

PARKING RULES: There is two parking spaces available in front of the garage. You can park in the top spot but it is really small and your car can not be in the street. There is NO street parking. You will get a ticket.

🚂-We are located in a historic train town. Some
people are not use to the sound of trains. So if you are a light sleeper we do suggest ear plugs.

We love our neighbors. We want to keep them happy. Please be quiet at 10 pm. The Allen House is a great place and we want to make sure our neighbors are happy.

The space

Please kindly read the full description to see if this apartment is right for you. The apartment itself is small (495 sqft) but the nicely decorated furnishings make use of the compact space. This is suitable for couples and singles and is located in an end unit of a single story 4-plex. It is conveniently close to Hedge Creek Falls and Mossbrae Falls. Walk to the waterfalls from the apartment! Keep in mind that route to get to Mossbrae Falls is considered trespassing, so do this hike at your own risk! There are 5 other waterfalls within an hour radius of the apartment. Dunsmuir is a small town in a narrow canyon with I-5 that runs down the center. It is impossible to completely escape the freeway noise unless you are next to the river or the waterfalls. We have newly installed dual paned windows that help dampen the noise. We also have a fan available for white noise.

TV: there’s a 43” smart tv in the living room for you to sign into your Netflix account, YouTube, Hulu and other apps. There is NO cable or local tv lineup. The Wi-Fi password will be provided upon check-in.

WATER: Unlimited Mountain Spring water! Mountain Spring water comes out of every tap (no chlorine or fluoride added). A couple blocks away a bottling company bottles our tap water. There’s no need to buy bottled water. The city’s slogan is “The Best Water on Earth”.

BEDROOM:
Includes a comfortable queen size bed, clean linen, petite dresser and 5’ long closet with plenty of hangers for your clothes, and luggage rack. The room has a newly installed whisper quiet A/C system with heat separately controlled from the rest of the space by its own thermostat. Stored in the closet for guest use is a sled, a kite, air purifier with ionizer, two fans, an iron with ironing board and a stick vacuum.

LIVING ROOM:
Includes a loveseat, two side chairs, secretary desk, coffee table and side tables. A newly installed whisper quiet A/C with heater is controlled by the thermostat on the wall. Wall heaters are also functional as backup heat source. A single person sized rollaway bed is available. Essential Oils mister with oils.

KITCHEN:
Includes a pub table, stove, apartment size refrigerator with freezer stocked with breakfast items, snacks, coffee, tea, creamer, seasonings, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, necessary utensils, plates, glasses, non-stick pan, etc.

BATHROOM:
There’s is a shower, shampoo, shower gel and blow dryer. NOTE: you will access the bathroom by walking through the bedroom. After showering you must wait 20 minutes for the hot water tank to regenerate hot water. The bathroom has a heater and ventilation.

OUTDOOR SPACE:
Due to high fire hazard no smoking is allowed anywhere on the premises. There’s a bistro table with chairs for outdoor dining under the shady Porch Overhang. Also a large picnic table with Market Umbrella in a sunny spot in the yard. You can walk to two waterfalls, Dunsmuir Botanical Gardens and the Upper Sacramento River with world class fly fishing. Walk to hiking trails including the PCT. Walk to Yaks voted Yelp’s top 100 places to eat in the USA. Electric Vehicle charging stations located at Yaks on the 5. See my Guidebook for other fun activities in the area. A snow sled is provided.

Guest access
You have complete access to the apartment with a set of keys. Keys will be found at a lockbox and code will be provided the day before your arrival. Check-in is at 4pm onward and check out is at 10am

Due to extreme fire hazard, there is no smoking allowed anywhere on the premises.

Pets must remain on leash outside the apartment and must never be left unattended inside the apartment. Please clean up after your pet.

Please use the black out roller shades only. Do not adjust the decorative curtain panels.

The space
Cute little home with a nice view of the castle crags from the side yard. In the summer there will be an exterior patio set for you to enjoy! There is wifi, but there is no tv, so you'll need to bring your Netflix, Hulu, etc accounts, to access internet streaming. There are two bedrooms, one with a king bed, one with a queen. There is one bathroom, with a standup shower, and a nice spacious living room to relax and enjoy your time away. There is a fireplace, wood is not provided. Cave Springs Resort is conveniently located just off of the I-5. While this provides quick and easy access to the freeway for guests, it also means some freeway noise may be heard from this unit.
