Cozy cabin near some of California's most pristine pine forest, waterholes and fishing, and only 9 miles from the Lassen National Park's Southwest Visitor Center. The town of Mineral is a small island of private cabins surrounded by a sea of National Forest and National Park lands. An adventurer's dream. You could walk out the backdoor of the cabin, into the forest, and arrive at the Lassen Visitor Center without crossing a single paved road, or seeing another human. Just bears.

The space

Our happy little cabin is about 1,000 square feet, with one bedroom downstairs, and the other up a steep, narrow staircase that leads into a bright room with giant windows, giving the impression you are tucked comfortably among the trees. People say it's their favorite room in the cabin. You'll see why.

All the beds are new Tuft and Needle mattresses.

The recently renovated bathroom has a restored Victorian claw foot bathtub -- awwwwww -- and a separate shower. Find your zen with a candle and a book (and if you're coming from the Bay Area you can stop at the organic loofah and lavender farm, MoonBeam Farm, in the valley below the cabin.)

The kitchen is compact, but we added a gas-burning stove and accoutrements for those of you who like to cook big. The Mineral Lodge in town also has dining, and is about a 5 minute walk from the cabin.

We have a wood stove. It was custom built by a small company outside of Sacramento. It has little gnomes on it. They're cute. And you can put wood in it, get cozy, and stay warm. But remember, it gets hot. Real hot. Burn you hot.

Fun fact: Our cabin was originally built in 1928. And when we renovated it, we found the original blueprints for the two-story addition added more than 40 years ago -- and we uncovered some of the original siding and paint (bright red!) now nearly 100 years old. It was originally built shortly after Lassen volcano last erupted.

Guest access
We have a dirt driveway with parking for two or three cars. In the winter, per snowy conditions, the driveway can get slick and AWD/4WD makes life easier.

Other things to note...

There is so much National Forest, National Park and National Wilderness land around the cabin. It's amazing. So bring your hiking boots, bikes, skis, climbing gear, swim suit, fishing poles, and all the outdoor stuff that brings you joy. I have some hiking books and maps at the cabin. But you might wanna do some map exploring before you get here. There is a swimming hole and waterfall in town, plus Lake Almanor about 30 minutes away, also Ishi Wilderness down the hill, Lassen Volcanic National Park, Lassen Volcanic Wilderness, Caribou Wilderness, Thousand Lakes Wilderness and, of course, Lassen National Forest. It's why the travel writers constantly call this area the hidden gem of California.

Cabin 12 is a lovely two-bedroom lakeside cabin with a front porch and a back deck overlooking Lake Almanor and Big Cove on the peninsula of the north shore. Located in Almanor Lakeside Resort, just off Peninsula Drive, it is only a few steps from the water. The living room has a 48" flat-screen Smart TV with DVD player, air conditioner, and gas fireplace. Kitchen includes large dining table, refrigerator, gas stove with oven, microwave, programmable coffee maker, coffee grinder, toaster, electric tea pot, mixer, blender, electric fry pan, dishes, pots & pans, silverware and utensils. Vacuum cleaner, broom & mop and hand vac are provided for quick clean ups. One large bedroom has king-size bed with desk and flat-screen Smart TV as well as sliding glass doors to the deck with a lake view. Second bedroom has queen bed and flat screen TV. There are ceiling fans in each room. Bedding and towels are provided. Hair dryer provided in re-modeled bathroom with glass shower. Lake Almanor is located 165 miles north of Sacramento, nestled amongst the pines where the Cascade Mountains meet the Sierra Nevadas. At elevation 4500 feet it is the third largest manmade lake in California and best known for its prime hunting and fishing grounds.

There are two golf courses on the lake, Bailey Creek in the peninsula & a nine hole at Lake Almanor West. OK, we're fishermen, not golfers! Mount Lassen National Park is just 26 miles away, has hiking (to the top!), picnicking, and very scenic views. Play tennis in the peninsula or bike around the lake (many other trails for cycling to choose from).

This cozy home is situated on the east shore of Hwy 147. Just about the middle of the 8 mile strip at 3907 Hwy 147, Lake Almanor, CA 96137. Enjoy sunsets on the deck or fish right off the dock. Bring your boat, there's plenty of excellent fishing holes around. During the summer months we rent Friday to Friday. Truly is a nice spot on the lake.

Shopping and antiquing can be found in all the quaint old fashioned towns around the area. Dine out in Chester, the peninsula, try Westwood's famous Buffalo Chips Pizzeria ("Cabin Fever" is our favorite).

My wife and our Aussie cattle dog spent a wonderful week: jumping off the dock into the lake, reading and napping, eating breakfast and dinner on the back deck, watching each day’s sun set behind Mt. Lassen, all with the very comfortable cabin at our disposal. The cabin is furnished with everything needed aside from personal items and food. It was very clean and well organized without being overbearing. Deborah has thought of most everything and her instructions are clear and easy to comply with. There is train noise from up the hill that surprised us the first time but soon was a normal part of the day. Traffic on the street can be heard in the front bedroom if the window is open but it’s not constant – and if the air is on - the window should be closed :-) Our host Deborah was quick to respond to the one issue we had and made every effort to insure we had a positive outcome. Please note that we have an exterior security camera up front facing the driveway and the steps to the cabin.

Steps to the cabin:
Our cabin is on a hill side and there are twenty five steps down to the cabin from where you park next to the road. You would need to take your luggage and supplies down the steps to the cabin. There is no handicap ramp to the door. Please plan accordingly.

Drinking Water:
We are on city water with a whole house filter and a Brita filter in the kitchen. Please bring your reusable water bottles and save money and our planet from plastics. Thanks!

Electric Vehicle Charging:
We have a level 2 EV charger in the property for an additional cost. We will let you know exactly how much you used during your stay and charge you what the power company will charge us for KWH used at the end of your trip. Tesla owners, don’t forget to get your J1772 adapter!

No dishwasher:
We do NOT have a dishwasher. So, someone in your group must become the designated one :-)

Internet/Cellular:
We have Starlink High Speed Internet! You entire group can be on Zoom calls and stream entertainment without any buffering! You also have good cellular signal on major carriers.

Winter Driving AWD/4WD:
In winter, typically November through April, you should plan to travel to our home in a 4WD/AWD and carry chains. We are on a county maintained road but highway conditions can change anytime and CalTrans could enforce chain control anytime under heavy snow.

Heating:
We have a modern propane heater in the living area that keeps all the rooms warm in winter. Just set the desired temperature in the smart thermostat and you should be comfortable through your stay. Of course, our wood stove heats up the cabin wonderfully with amazing ambiance.

Cooling:
We do not have central air nor do we need one. We are at 5000 ft, among tall 100+ foot trees. The house is naturally pleasant all summer. We have ceiling fans in every room to keep things cool even in warm afternoons.

Pets:
We are pet-friendly and allow a maximum of one pet. If you are bringing your pet, please let us know when you book. We charge an of $50/per pet per stay for additional cleaning. Below are the house rules that you MUST follow:

- Pets are NOT allowed on any furniture or beds
- Pet MUST NOT be left unattended at home anytime
- You should pick up after the pet in and around the property

You’ll love the deep-forest feel while also being close to many amenities. Adjoining main house (also a short-term rental and can be booked together for more space + full kitchen and laundry), but lots of space between the buildings. You have your own dedicated driveway, large enough for an RV and one additional vehicle, and fairly flat.

Stargazer is a shared property with the Little Dipper Studio and Big Dipper 2BD/2BA (another VRBO listing), which can be booked together if you’d like more space and/or the property all to yourself. During the COVID-19 outbreak, we are taking extra cleaning precautions and are happy to host. If you need space and fresh air, this is the place. The Big Dipper and the Little Dipper are separated by 40 feet and a common lawn. They have separate driveways, parking, and outdoor seating. There are external cameras on walkways, the garage, and the entrances.

A garage door opener will be provided, giving guests access to the grill and the washer/dryer.

We love dogs at Stargazer. We kindly ask that you never leave your pet unattended, refrain from allowing them on the furniture, and clean up after your dog. Only one dog is allowed in this unit. If you plan to bring more than one dog, prior approval is required, and an additional cleaning fee will be charged. ($25/dog/night)

There is NO smoking or vaping allowed on the property.

Finally, since our property is in CA, we are prone to rolling blackouts. These blackouts affect power and the internet. We have no control over when these blackouts occur, and while they’re brief, they can be inconvenient for some guests. Most guests who experience the blackouts understand it’s temporary and enjoy the peace and quiet of this amazing property; however, if you need to be connected 24/7 with zero interruptions, this may not be the property for you. This creekside Cabin (300 sq ft) escape is a STUDIO nestled in the forest, yet with all the city amenities. Complete with a queen bed and a full-size bed in an upper loft (wrought iron ladder access; see photos to confirm you can climb it!). This is NOT the primary bed. Full bathroom with tub/shower, recently renovated full kitchen with granite countertops, and a flat-screen TV with WiFi.

Do you need to get away? The Cabin and Cottage share 10 acres of wooded bliss. We are taking extra cleaning precautions and can provide plenty of fresh air while maintaining minimal contact with others. The Cottage at Gold Run is part of the 10 acres of Crossing at Gold Run and includes the Cabin at Gold Run that can be booked together. The entire property sits 8 miles from Susanville.

You will have the entire Cabin and its attached deck, with a propane BBQ grill, to yourself. The parking, garage, and walkways are shared with The Cottage next door (a separate short-term rental listing).

The outdoor fire pit and swings are for Cottage guests. If it looks like no one is staying in the Cottage, feel free to message us and ask if available. Please park in front of the garage and NOT drive your vehicle through the property.

Lassen County offers hunting, fishing, and incredible sightseeing opportunities. Gold Run Road ends, and the gates to the Plumas National Forest begin, where OHV use is encouraged. Numerous fire lookouts within 20 miles provide unparalleled views. World-famous Eagle Lake, Antelope Lake, and Lake Almanor are nearby. The Bizz Johnson Trail can be ridden from Mason Station to Susanville, 28 miles downhill (mostly).

Susanville is a small town with groceries and other basic stores 8 miles away.

Pets:
You must let us know if you`re bringing dogs, and how many, before arrival. There is a maximum of 1 dog due to space constraints. Dogs are not to be left unattended and must be leashed when not in the cabin. Dogs are not allowed on furniture and please clean up feces from outdoors upon departure. There will be an additional fee based on the cost of repairs and cleaning time to prepare for the next guests.

This top unit of the cabin is complete with everything you need to enjoy relaxation, convenience, and fun activities. There’s a large deck, patio furniture, propane BBQ, and large covered patio area complete with picnic tables. There is a rock fireplace in the primary bedroom. A/C upstairs May-Sept. Plenty of closet and dresser space for your comfort. Enjoy the boat launch, and one boat slip for use during your stay during the summer season. The surrounding property includes a very large lawn area for outdoor BBQ. Across the street is the Red Onion restaurant and sports bar, open all year round.

Located at the entrance to Big Cove, there are pontoon boat and Jet Ski rentals right around the corner. Wally's Peninsula Market offers a wonderful choice of fresh and organic foods, an award-winning deli, a fantastic wine cellar, and a coffee shop. What more could you need?

If you have not visited us at Lake Almanor before, the water is warm, the area is wind-protected and the Lake offers many activities such as boating, paddle-boarding, kayaking, jet-skiing, swimming, and the fishing is fantastic all year round. The 52-mile coastline is fed from underground springs and the reservoir is 90' deep. Mt. Lassen Volcanic National Park is 30 miles away where you can hike up the waterfalls and peaks, explore the geothermal formations and be home in time for a cocktail on the deck and dinner. Reno is two hours away and Chester is only 5 miles offering grocery stores, restaurants, a hospital, a laundromat, tackle shops, and much more.

We are located just west of Susanville, CA, off Hwy. 36. Parking for your cars and boat trailers is abundant. If you require a additional space, we also own cabin #7 which is a 2 bedroom/2 bath and sleeps 6 comfortably.

Highlight of 2020
Everything exceeded our expectations, the photos do not do justice to the stunning view and the absolute comfort of the rooms! The cabin was well stocked with everything you could think you would need, from excess heaters, bedding, board games, kitchen utensils fully stocked for large families. Beautifully decorated and maintained. Spotlessly clean. Was the highlight of 2020 for us and we thought we had already attained that with a visit to Yosemite in March (before shelter in place started). We were lucky to see the 1st snow of the season and got to see the exquisite beauty with and without snow. What a wonderland with the snow and to be cosy inside with the warm gas fire! Wonderful day hiking nearby in Lassen Volcanic Park made this one of the best outdoor trips we have ever taken.

Lakefront Cabin
We had a wonderful vacation in this beautifully decorated cabin. The cabin itself was clean and comfortable. The beds were really comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked. Plenty of space for our group of 6 and one extra bedroom that we didn't even need. Everything was updated and very nicely done. Loved hanging out on the deck and watching the boats go by.

The space
Our little house is a one bedroom, one bathroom home. We have a tv in the bedroom and one in the living room. We have Wi-Fi on premises. We have a single use coffee pot in the kitchen and a hair dryer in the bathroom! Nothing is worse then getting someplace and not having these two items!
There are three (3) steps to get into the house, but once inside only the shower has a lip to step over.
There is a laundromat in town if you are in need of that service.
You are also able to take your RZR straight from the little house to the nearby logging roads to ride and go on an adventure.
Please take in consideration… we are located in a small mountain town. Our cell phone services can be very spotty, but the trade-off is … it is a very beautiful destination!

Located in the heart of mid-town with walkability to restaurants and shopping! We love Susanville and Lassen County! Discover what Life in the Ville is all about. 1620 1/2 is at the center of it all. At the bottom of our hill next to the Community Garden is the Susan River Trail. Maybe go for a stroll on your way to coffee or hit up the two walkable grocery stores or explore our beautiful trails, lakes, high desert scapes and mountains. The space
The living room and bedroom have the original wood floors from 1920. Enjoy the super comfy Queen bed and for additional guests the futon (full/double bed) in the living room folds out for sleeping. We live behind the private unit and upstairs so you may hear our dog and cats playing.

Guest access
This town is pretty easy to bike or walk around and parking is almost never an issue. If you miss a spot right next to your destination, chances are you won’t need to walk more than a block from your parking space.

We use the Airbnb app to provide fun instructions and how tos. Please check the features on the app and please reach out to us for anything. We are happy to help and really want you to have an enjoyable time.

Fully furnished Guest House Casita with fiber optic internet and free parking area. Very private location close to Lassen Community College, Banner Lassen Medical Center, Northeastern Rural Health Clinic, HDSP, The Bizz Johnson Trail and Ranch Park. Grocery stores, Diamond Mountain Casino, and restaurants in Susanville are just minutes away.
Visit Lake Almanor, Lassen Volcanic National Park or go fishing at Eagle Lake.

The space
This Casita is tucked away behind the main house in a quiet location allowing privacy for your stay. Speedy internet if you need to work from home. Smart TV. Queen sized bed, dresser, and a large closet. Crisp sheets, comfy pillows, and plenty of blankets on the bed. Bathroom has towels, wash cloths, shampoo & conditioner, body wash, and make up wipes. A separate sleeping pad, pillow, and sleeping bag can be provided upon request.

Guest access
Guests will have full access to the whole house, laundry facilities, and BBQ grill.

Other things to note
Please park in back and do not block driveway as it is shared with front house.
Bedroom heater is in corner next to bed if desired.
