Our beautiful home sits on a cliff 80 feet above the shoreline. At low tide there are many rocks and a large beach. But even at high tide Pelican Rock stands above the water. There is no direct access to the beach from the house but it is only 9 tenths of a mile to Sport Heaven Beach, about a 20 minute walk or a short drive. Sport Heaven Beach has miles of sandy beach and there are many other beautiful beaches in the area. The house is 4 miles from the center of Brookings and 1 mile to the Harbor. At the harbor there are great restaurants, fishing charters and a great boardwalk overlooking the boats.
Come and enjoy amazing sunrises and sunsets.
We have lived in Brookings for three years now and love it year round. We live in our home just 4 miles away with our three small dogs. We hope to see you soon.
Please no trailers. Our driveway does not allow for turning around a trailer.
There is a video camera above the garage door that monitors the driveway.
Please stay off the neighbors property and stairs to the beach

This house is truly unique!
A work of art by the owner, the details make this a place to remember from the hand-cut, burl-lined staircase to the bench swing hanging from the living room rafters. Also, the loft bed looks out of a skylight. Kids and adults will have a wonderful time exploring this house.
The large kitchen has plenty of room for everyone to gather for meals. The bar features a glass-topped terrarium filled with starfish, sand dollars, shells, rocks - see what you can find! The wall of windows lets you enjoy the view from wherever you are. The living room features a cozy wood-burning stove.
The master bedroom offers a hand-make California king bed, a large soaking tub, and an oversized steam shower. Enjoy the view from the wrap-around windows in this room as well.
The open loft area has an attached kids bedroom and full bathroom. The open loft has a futon for additional guest sleeping or possible office workspace. The attached kids' bunk room accommodates six sleeping arrangements (one queen bed, top single and bottom bunk is a full, and single loft bed that looks out the skylight). The kids will want to "rock-paper-scissors" for the star-gazing spot!
Outside, there is a whole world to explore. The large deck offers lots of views to enjoy or wander down one of the trails on the large property. There is a BBQ for your dinner steaks, then a fire pit for later in the evening when it's time to roast some marshmallows.
When you're ready for an adventure down the hill, check out Whaleshead Beach, less than a mile away. Hiking trails follow the coastline most of the way to Brookings or head north for other options.
Max Amount Of Nights for Bookings is 16 nights. We do not allow extended stays.
- "Super location Very nice home" - "Cabin was super cozy with a beautiful view. Far enough away to feel like you are in the forest, but super close to town and hikes and beaches and even the redwoods in California. Only complaint is I emailed property manager twice - once to confirm they received the rental notice I signed and another to ask for advice on local hikes, and no response was ever received. Likely due to the fact that it is a property management company running it as opposed to a homeowner."

BEDS & BEDROOMS
Your private bedroom has a comfortable queen bed. The living area has a sofa-bed and a couch and there are several extra blankets, sheets & pillows, so the suite can sleep up to 3 adults, plus a child on one of the couches. Four adults are allowed, but not recommended. (IMPORTANT NOTE: What the VRBO software calls "Bedroom 2" is the sofa-bed in the door-separated living room.)
BATHROOM & SHOWER
Your private bathroom features a tiled shower. It also has loads of extra towels plus a few travel necessities such as feminine products, toothpaste, dental floss, shaving cream & safety razors. There is even a small sewing kit - which in fact saved a bride's dress one fine day!
ROBES & SLIPPERS
When you get up in the morning put on one of the freshly laundered robes with slippers provided by your hosts and relax into your day.
KITCHENETTE
In your suite you'll find a small kitchenette located off to one side of the main living area. It features a mini-refrigerator with an ice tray in the freezer section, a toaster and a microwave oven, along with a pour-over coffee making system. A hot plate is available to warm up soup, cook eggs and such - but no aromatic foods please like bacon or fish. That is because the kitchenette does not have an exhaust vent for cooking odors.
COFFE, TEAS & MORE
The cupboards are stocked with great coffee and a large selection of top quality teas, plus makings for hot cocoa and hot cereals, and some individually sized cold cereals. A few fun snack treats are also provided, along with a few juices, small bottled waters, half-n-half milkette creamers (single serving half-n-half's) for your coffee or tea, with an ice tray in the freezer section.
LIVING AREA
The main room room is a living room with the kitchenette off in one corner. It has a coffee table, two couches and a big, comfortable chair for reading and relaxation. There are a few books there for children of all ages plus some thought-provoking books for adults, such as "The Four Agreements" and "The Power of Now".
DINING AREAS
The unit has a round granite-topped dining table that is the perfect size for 2 to 4 people. There are also outdoor dining areas with dramatic ocean views on both of the decks! (See pictures.)
WI-FI
There is excellent Wi-Fi but no TV, so plan to relax, read or take your coffee out to sit on one of the decks to enjoy the breathtaking views; from there you can see dozens of rocky outcroppings, large sea stacks and sandy beaches all along the coast.
BEACH ACCESS
We're located on a cliff directly above the beach with no current access down the side of the cliff to the beach below, but it is just a two minute drive to beach-level parking on North Harris Beach at Harris Beach State Park.
SOUTH HARRIS BEACH
South Harris Beach, which is one of the best ocean beaches on the Oregon coast, is even closer; it is just a ten minute walk or a one minute drive to get there. And it almost never has people on it because you have to walk down the side of a cliff on a paved path to get to it, and because very few tourists know about it.
LONE RANCH BEACH
Lone Ranch Beach with lots of tide pools with starfish and other sea life is a four minute drive north.
HARBOR BEACH
The magnificent driftwood covered beach at the harbor is just five minutes south.
SECRET BEACH
Secret Beach is wild and scenic and it's just a quick 10 or 12 minute drive north on US Highway 101.
WHALE WATCHING
Resident gray whales can be seen all year but they are more frequently spotted in the summer and fall when they feed closer to shore. We also have thousands more migrating whales along the Oregon coast every year, going south, between mid-December & mid-January and they start returning up the Oregon toward to Alaska every year in between late March and June.
REDWOOD NATURE TRAIL
Walking under the canopy of a redwood forest is like being in a natural cathedral. The mile long and quite walkable Redwood Nature Trail is just 9 miles away. And world famous Jedediah Smith Redwoods Park is just 22 miles south on US Highway 101.
WILD RIVERS
The Chetco River, with some of the best salmon runs in the world plus a lot of trout and steelhead, runs right through Brookings. And the cold waters of the Smith River, just a few miles south of Brookings, also has plenty of fish, especially salmon and trout.
OCEAN FISHING
Thee are well over a dozen ocean charter fishing companies and fishing guides available in the harbor just two miles south of our property.
VIDEOS ABOUT LOCAL ADVENTURES
When you book a stay we'll send you a number of videos about local adventures and things to do!
Guest Access:
Guests have full access to everything in their suite and access to all outdoor areas of the property except the back deck.
BACK DECK
Please don't use the back deck because the family bedrooms open onto it.
CLIFFSIDE OBSERVATION PLATFORMS
We have cliffside stairs that lead down to two cliffside observation platforms, both with amazing ocean views and with seating.
PARKING
If your car leaks oil or other fluids please park in the gravel area just outside the property wall; otherwise please park in the courtyard parking area near the entry to your suite near the sign that says "SUITE A Parking".
The Neighborhood:
This is a small town and the neighborhood is quiet. Harris Beach, one of the best in Oregon, is just a a short minute walk. It is also an easy walk or very short drive to coffee shops, restaurants, post office, etc.
Interaction with Guests:
We enjoy meeting our guests but we will always respect your privacy. Someone is usually on the property at the main house to answer questions and to provide help if any questions come up.

ABOUT YOUR HOSTS – by Barbara
Patrick & I were (and still are!) grateful & amazed at the good fortune that came our way when we acquired two 'diamond in the rough' coastal properties on the Southern Oregon coast that are right next to each other. Both sit on their own cliffside acre overlooking the vast Pacific Ocean.
We did not plan on being vacation rental hosts - it just sort of happened - but we are glad it did because we are always delighted to share these amazing properties with our guests.
I was recently retired from a job in the medical field and Patrick had sold his real estate office when, in March of 2019, we found the coastal property we now live in while we on a road trip through Southern Oregon.
The house that is now our home had been on the market 5 years as part of an estate sale & it needed a lot of work, but we loved it the moment we saw it. **We made the best offer we could afford and our offer was accepted! The separate guesthouse that came with it became our first vacation rental.
Then in 2022 our elderly & very kind next-door neighbor, a widower, decided to move to Portland to be with family. His circa 1950 house also needed a lot of work. We were experienced hosts at that point and we knew the location and layout were absolutely perfect for another vacation rental. **So Patrick worked out a deal with the seller that included some seller-financing and we bought it. Then we put in granite counter tops, tiled showers, redwood decks, heated floors, bigger windows and much more.
Our objective was to create a magical space where people can come to relax in quiet comfort with lots of privacy & stunning ocean views. It worked out perfectly and now we love sharing these magical side-by-side properties with our guests!
Thank you for considering a stay with us while in Brookings. Patrick and I wish you safe travels and an enjoyable visit.
Sincerely,
Barbara :)

Sincerely,
Barbara :)
PS.
1. No one has better coastal views
2. Best price/value - nothing comparable at this price
3. W always treat people the way we would want to be treated

- "The condo has everything that we need including the extras…The bedroom has an unbelievably beautiful ocean view, we got to watch the magnificent sunset! Our host was attentive & helpful. We can tell that a lot of details were put in the condo to make sure that guests are comfortable. It was hard to leave such a magical place. Thank you for your hospitality. " - "This property is spectacular if your looking for a tranquil setting. The view is one of the best I've seen on the Oregon coast. Communication was very good with the owners and both of them are very pleasant. The unit is well stocked with essentials and lots of extra things. We had a very nice stay at this vacation rental."

- "We live up on the Canadian border in the mountains of central Washington, so Brookings in February seems almost tropical in comparison. This very comfortable house is perfect for winter storm watching. We spent hours on the covered deck every day watching the constantly changing weather — everything from springtime sunshine to passing thunderstorms and even a day of frequent snow flurries. Never a dull moment. We’ll be back!" - "Our hosts David and Sian were so amazing and kind. They were in touch with us the night before with check in instructions, and even texted us recommendations for dining and shopping in the area. The property is gorgeous with a large deck to really soak in the ocean view. The neighborhood is quiet. The home is fully stocked with everything you could ever need. There was a great big TV with sound bar, DVDs and Blu-ray’s with nice newer movies! The smart tv allows you to sign into your streaming services. There was a coffee maker, espresso machine, kettle, coffee grinder, iron, and so many more appliances above the standard toaster and microwave. The dishwasher, sink, fridge, and range/oven were new and in great condition. Gorgeous bathrooms too! We had our two senior dogs with us. They enjoyed the deck as much as we did. The property has a chain link gate that you can close and keep your dogs inside the property. While the property is not fully fenced, it worked great for us! We mentioned to the owners that it was our honeymoon and they even left a little bride and groom trinket as well as some gifts to welcome us. Thank you David and Sian for the most incredible stay. We will be back!"

South Harris Beach, which is one of the best ocean beaches on the Oregon coast, is even closer; it is just a ten minute walk or a one minute drive to get there.

WILD RIVERS
The Chetco River, with some of the best salmon runs in the world plus a lot of trout and steelhead, runs right through Brookings. And the cold waters of the Smith River, just a few miles south of Brookings, also has plenty of fish, especially salmon and trout.

- "Recommend this property. Will stay here again" - "The location is great for us, considering the harbor is just down the street and is also very close to town. Very clean, and the owner is cordial, responds quickly to emails, and makes the process nearly effortless. The only thing for those bringing little ones is that there are glass cases down low, with breakable items. With that being said, she does have a baby gate that can be used to keep young kids from the stairs, so she is considerate in know what it takes to corral the kids if need be. Overall, it was a great experience."

- "Very nice location! Great communication with owners/managers. Loved the beach access and the driftwood!!! This home Has been lovingly appointed with lots of ocean themed details. We really enjoyed our stay." - "We really liked staying at this house overall. Everything is new and high quality. A few things that would improve it: stock the kitchen with decent bowls. There were only four very small bowls, not sure what you would use them for, and four large bowls, perhaps for ice cream or something? Nothing for everyday eating, like what you'd want for cereal or a meal. Please get some decent bowls, we ended up buying paper bowls for a our stay. Also, we did not know until a few days before check in through a random conversation with the owner that this house shares the property with another renter. You do have separate renters, but no privacy in the backyard. Every time you come and go the other renter's dogs yap at you, hence no sitting outside if they are also outside, which we didn't want to anyway as that was kind of awkward. It worked out ok, but as a renter, I very much wish to know details such as a shared property when deciding where I stay. Having this be a surprise to us was not appreciated at all. That aside, this home is great. A washer and dryer would make it even better, something which most beach houses include, which is very helpful if you are staying more than a few days. Beach access was easy and close. Contact with the owner was easy and quick. I would recommend this property to others, provided they are okay with the shared property aspect."

The living space was arranged to look down the coast, there were great views from the kitchen, dining room, living room and deck. The condo was very clean and looked elegant. This quant little mill house smack dab in the middle of Brookings faces the south and has glimpses of the pacific ocean from windows and front deck. This is an old house that has been kept up over the years. It has a wonderful cozy feel and for the smallness of the house feels roomy! The best parts about Nana's are the proximity of the local restaurants and shops and the sunny front deck and light coming in. Come stay at Nana's if you are visiting or passing through Brookings. For around the cost of a hotel room you get a little more space, more privacy and a kitchen and laundry room.
- "We absolutely loved Nana’s House. Loved the nostalgia decor. It was our Anniversary get away. We will be back again. Thank you Erin for all that you do to keep your cute little house going for others to enjoy. Marvin & Robin T." - "We love to get away to the Brookings area every year for my daughter’s birthday. This was the most comfortable place we’ve stayed over the years. It’s a well preserved and maintained older home that’s nicely furnished and decorated. The location is very convenient for doing pretty much anything in the Brookings/Harbor area. We would definitely stay there again as long as the price is competitive with the local motels."

Step out onto the deck, breathe in the salty sea air, and greet each day with a sweeping view of the ocean and mountains at this comfortable home in Brookings. In this beautiful spot in the heart of the Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor, you'll have the most picturesque stretch of the Oregon Coast right outside your door.
This single-story home sits across the Oregon Coast Highway and up the hill from Whaleshead Beach, an elevated position which grants it gorgeous sunset views. Spend your days going for long scenic drives, hiking the Oregon Coast Trail, and taking photographs of dramatic sea stacks and deserted ocean coves. Such notable landmarks as Harris Beach State Park, Cape Ferrelo, the Thomas Creek Bridge, Natural Bridges, and Arch Rock State Park are all within seven miles.
A highlight of this home is the deck - a large, partially covered outdoor space where you can choose between sun and shade. It's the perfect spot for barbecuing in the afternoons, popping open a bottle of Oregon wine at sunset, and marveling at the view all around you.
The interior is every bit as inviting, with plentiful details of natural wood adding warmth and character. After a day spent beachcombing or tidepooling, come home to share a few photos via the complimentary WiFi and curl up with a good movie streaming on TV.

- "The view is spectacular from the deck, when you can sit out. If it is pouring, as it was 2 of the days while we were visiting there are some bar stools that you can move to the window so you can appreciate the view from indoors. The storm was impressive. This is the perfect place for a quiet retreat. The bed is very comfortable and the linens and toiletries are very nice. There is limited phone reception as it only works sometimes on the back deck and we have Verizon. TV requires some buffering from time to time but we just read a book while we were waiting. We greatly enjoyed our time at Whaleshead. If you need ice be sure to pick it up in town. There is a Keurig and coffee maker so bring your favorite coffee. Enjoy!"

Getting Around:
There is a bus and taxi service in town. Or bring a bicycle!
Interaction with Guests:
We enjoy meeting our guests but we will always respect your privacy. Someone is usually on the property at the main house to answer questions and to provide help if any questions come up.

The heaters tend to come on at all times of the day and night if the thermostats are not turned down to about 50. If they come on while you are gone I will automatically reach in and turn them down.
This is a coastal climate and air circulation is important. The room has a small de-humidifier that I will check every 3-4 days to empty and it's important to leave the bedroom door open an hour or two every day to circulate the air. The window and room darkening drapes should be left open for a few hours for air circulation to allow for and to de-humidify.

This is a small, single story home with about 2 steps at the entry. The main area of the house is an open living and kitchen area with a peek of the ocean. The kitchen is available for food prep. and storage. You are welcome to relax on the deck. You are sharing with just me and two small dogs.
During your stay
This area is a great opportunity to get out and appreciate the natural wonders of the Oregon Coast and Brookings. For a small town Brookings has some shockingly fabulous restaurants! I really am a great room-mate. Respectful of you and your privacy, helpful and enthusiastic.
Other things to note
All of the photos I have shared are withing 5-20 minutes of your room.
I follow COVID precautions. I am vaccinated and expect the same from my roommates.
I prefer 3 or more positive Air BNB guest reviews.

I sailed her AROUND THE WORLD as a vegan (now 30-years vegan). If you're a solo traveler looking for a comfortable overnight berth aboard a safe, calm, quiet "landed-yacht" - add a small memorable adventure to your adventure - take a stint aboard the good ship BRETA! - A very recent guest suggested it's not for oldsters (though some would say I'm an oldster). So the new rule is - No kids and no oldsters.
The space
What makes the space unique? Everything. You'll see. It's meant to provide a memorable experience for enthusiastic individuals. She's special in many ways, roomier than the photos can show, with hard-knocks character! Originally the boat was marketed as "The 7-sleeper for 7-footers", but singles can best experience the spirit of the space. This vessel was my home for 10 years, 6 years traveling on the high seas.
The guest-exclusive bathroom is next to the boat, inside the front door of the house, immediately to the right. Far better than any boat head.
Guest access
The whole boat, and part of the house. If you are unfit, or afraid of heights, better look elsewhere. Because of the fall risk I have a mandatory liability waiver to sign before boarding (unfortunately)... That said, if you're reasonably fit, climbing up and down the OSHA- and ANSI- approved stairway/ladder is child's play. But a boat is a boat and falling overboard, whether in the cold stormy ocean or on the hard ground is... End of story! (I've got a perfect, almost-30-year safety record with crew and guests, and I want to keep it!)
Other things to note
No drains on the boat, but I have a solution...
Chamber pot on the boat for emergencies. You use it - you clean it... (most folks can make it to house bathroom "when nature calls", but it's there just in case...)

Enjoy the amenities in this spacious 2 bedroom finished basement. It is 1548 square feet, with very little needed interaction with the host.
If you like key amenities (queen beds, a full-size fridge, microwave, full-size washer/dryer, walk-in shower, a 65-inch television, high-speed internet, height-adjustable desk, and tons of parking, including RV parking) without unnecessary frills, then we’re your listing!
(max 4 guests, no exceptions)
The space
Reasons this may not be the right listing for you:
Ours is a quiet neighborhood, so if you’re looking for a raucous good time, please keep looking. This is a basement; there are only a couple of windows, so if you like a lot of natural light, this isn’t the right listing for you.
Because we’re so close to the ocean and forest, some cell service providers have spotty service in our area. You WILL hear footsteps from above, similar to what you would hear in a hotel room.
We aren’t a “boutique” listing; we offer a lower price because we aren’t a cutesy listing. Most of our visitors want to be out on the beach, hiking in the woods, or playing in the river rather than hanging out in the room.
People who love our listing:
If you like to spread out (at 1,548 square ft, we are about 5x bigger than the average hotel room!), we’re your listing!
If you want to spend your money on activities rather than on accommodations (our rate is lower than most budget hotels in the area!) then we’re your listing!
If you like key amenities (queen beds, a full-size fridge, microwave, full-size washer/dryer, walk-in shower, a 65-inch television, high-speed internet, and tons of parking, including RV parking) without unnecessary frills, then we’re your listing!
We are just north of Brookings, a 2-minute drive to Lone Ranch Beach, and a 6-minute drive to town. You’ll find tons of hiking trails, beaches, a lake, and 3 major rivers all within a short drive.
If you need supplies, let us know! We have swim masks, body boards, beach carts and toys, a large cooler, and other equipment available at no extra cost.
The cleaning fee will be credited back if the apartment is picked up (no need to do dishes or wash sheets), just don’t leave messes or stains.
This is a finished basement; the entrance is below the main deck. It can feel a bit awkward, but is a very nice apartment.
Please be aware of quiet hours after 9pm, especially during the school week.
Absolutely no smoking inside the apartment or near the house.
No pets.
Guest access
Lots of Parking. Upstairs area not accessible to guests.
Other things to note
The kitchen does not include a stovetop oven. It has a sink, full fridge and microwave with an added air fryer.
Entrance to apartment is under the main deck. You'll walk along the unlevel grass on the side of the house, then there's a paved walkway leading to apartment door.
Again, you will hear footsteps overhead. So if you need silence, you should keep looking.
The property is limited to 4 guests.
Babies are welcome, but the apartment isn't set up for babies (there's no high chair, crib, pack and play, sippy cups, etc.).
Summer is gorgeous, but very touristy.
Late summer and fall are still really nice without the crush of tourists.
January and February are cold and very wet. There are still some nice days, but you definitely need a jacket.
Coastal weather is weird. Many days start out cloudy with a light rain, but by noon are bright and sunny. We've learned to always have a light jacket nearby. A heavy coat may be overkill most days, depending on your personal preferences.
It's like the old joke:
Is it going to be cloudy, rainy, sunny, cold, or warm?
~Yes.
After a long day of adventure, come back and cozy up in this peaceful getaway. This studio offers comfort and privacy while still being close to beaches, hiking trails & all the coast has to offer. We have rescue ducks and chickens on the property as well. They are not next to the studio but in the corner of the property you are welcome to view.
The space
The studio has a large open floor plan. The shower room is separated from the bathroom sink area and toilet area.
Guest access
Guests can come and go as they choose. Studio is separate from main house and has keypad entry for easy coming and goings.
Other things to note
Studio is private and has a private entrance. It is attached to a storage barn on the back side of the property. The yard, although large, is shared with owners. The patio area for guests and is only used by the guests. Also note as internet is provided and usually is good speed, there are occasions that it does run slow or goes out. This is usually due to harsh weather but occasionally it’s just our remote location.

You will have your own space with free parking and your own private entrance. You are welcome to soak in the hot tub anytime.
Other things to note
