A mere 5 minute drive to the downtown plaza, this private, 400 sq ft suite has comfortable amenities, tasteful ambiance, and a very accommodating host to offer local recommendations. The suite is attached to a home, but securely sectioned off to have its own entrance with plenty of privacy. The bedroom has a very comfortable memory foam queen-sized bed with quality linens, a smart TV, lots of natural light and well-loved plants. It connects to a full bathroom with a shower and basic toiletries. The second bedroom has a very comfortable twin memory foam bed with a kitchenette (not full kitchen) and a dining area. Mini-fridge, microwave, counter-top oven/toaster, electric kettle, and a Keurig for making coffee are all included, along with dishes, glasses, basic food prep-ware, coffee and tea supplies. The wifi is strong for all your streaming and online needs. Arcata Forest Retreat also boasts its own private, small patio at the entrance with a soothing fountain, seating, and a propane fire pit. This suite does share some walls, so we require and honor "quiet hours" from 9pm-9am.

The kitchen is modern and has lots of counter space and an island for in-kitchen breakfast or meals on comfortable stools. All the appliances are new: 5 burner gas stove with a regular and convection oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and drawers are fully stocked with all utensils needed for easy cooking or hosting. Small pantry has some start items like: flour, sugar, olive oil, coffee, tea and various cooking spices.

The living room is furnished with warm colors, lots of natural light, artwork and a comfortable sectional couch. A washer and dryer is located in a closet right off the living room area.

Reserved parking spot for 1 vehicle, all other vehicles will have to park on the main roads or in the city parking lot located across the street.

Parking Notes: We cannot guarantee a spot in the driveway as they are shared between guests of all three units on a first come, first served basis. Ample street parking is available for guest use. On 10th Street, you can park right in front of the home between 4:00pm - 10:00am the following morning. Outside of these hours, there is a two-hour limit for street parking spots. There is no time limit across the street, so guests can park there anytime.

Guest Entry Instructions: This rental utilizes an E-lock, a digital lock that requires a unique code to enter.

This sparkling clean, Arcata Bay/Coastal themed apartment is within a block of the Arcata Plaza, Farmers Market, shopping, overlooking Salt restaurant patio and Septentrio winery barrel room. We have a private parking lot, 1 gig/second WiFi, TV w/cable, dishwasher, California king bed, washer/dryer inside the apt, and pretty town views. Fun location close to everything, very spacious, relaxing, and convenient. This apartment is very spacious feeling with a large living room with great town views. There is a full bathroom with a shower over tub and an LG combination washer/dryer. There is a full size gas range, a full size stainless refrigerator, dishwasher, dining table and chairs, a full size 55 inch TV with premium cable, and fast Wi Fi. There is a large private parking lot with motion lighting just for our building. Although the apartment is in a bustling, lively section of town within less than a block of many great restaurants, shops, etc, the bedroom is on the quiet side of the building and has a cal-king bed, and a sitting area to read/relax. Guests have the entire apartment with its own private gate and stairway, a parking lot, and yard. The gates have electronic keypads so the apt and yard are very secure feeling. We respect guests privacy but are always available quickly for guest needs as our home is about 10 blocks away. We are very responsive hosts and always happy to provide recommendations for places to go, restaurants, beaches etc. This is a great location within a block of the town center/Arcata Plaza and less than a block from many great restaurants, shops. Within a block are 7 restaurants, the Arcata Plaza, the Arcata Co-Op grocery store, and countless shops. Once you have parked your car in the private parking lot with motion lighting that is just for our building, you won't need to drive again, everything is within a block or two from this location. We have tankless water heaters for unlimited hot water, rain shower heads, and very strong water pressure so much so many guests comment on how nice the showers are.

Quiet, final property on dead end street that borders walking & biking trails right into the Arcata Redwood Community Forest. Very short walk to HSU, including the basketball stadium, and also a nice walk to downtown Arcata for Saturday Farmer's Market fun, cafes, restaurants, music events, bookstores, and much, much more!!! Located in what locals call Northtown, our Arcata home is a perfectly situated home base. You will find several eateries, cafes and a natural food grocery store all within a two block walk. You can access the two bridges over to the Cal Poly Humboldt campus a few blocks away and just beyond campus is the Arcata Community Forest with towering redwoods. Downtown Arcata is just a seven minute walk down the hill where you will find more restaurants and unique shops on the plaza.

The home offers a full kitchen with all the cooking tools needed to cook up a nice meal. We provide local coffee, an organic tea selection, sugar, olive oil, salt & pepper, and a handful of spices.

There are two comfortable bedrooms with queen sized beds, a variety of pillows to choose from, crisp sheets and a down comforter with duvet cover. Each room has a luggage rack and one room has a closet and small TV.

The living room has a queen sized sleeper sofa (extra sheets and blankets provided), a large smart TV with a Bose Soundbar and Wi-Fi. A small desk allows for a designated workspace. There are two large frosted pocket doors for privacy. There are also several games tucked away in the desk shelf/drawer.

The bathroom has a tub/shower with glass doors, bright lighting and a blow dryer.

Northtown Arcata offers a variety of delicious eateries including Phoenix Cafe, Wildflower Cafe, Stars Hamburgers, Japhy`s Soup & Noodles, Northtown Coffee, Redwood Yogurt, Hey Juan Burritos- all within a few short blocks.

Wildberries Marketplace, a natural food grocery store, is right down the street and is a great place to gather supplies for a night in.

If you venture down the hill from this neighborhood to the Arcata Plaza, you`ll find even more dining options, the North Coast Co-op Market and lots of unique shops. On Saturdays, be sure to check out the Farmer`s Market on the Plaza.

The 14th Street bridge over to Cal Poly Humboldt is down the street, making the walk to campus a quick and easy stroll.

A private driveway and multiple entrances to the house make it easily accessible and safe. Enjoy a stroll through the immaculately maintained yard.
The space
Guests will have access to the entire house and grounds. You will be given self-check in instructions and enter via a smart lock. Feel free to park up to two vehicles in the private driveway, located through the alley in the back. Both entrances include a staircase in order to access the exterior doors, please keep this is mind for those in your party that might have mobility issues.

The house is incredibly spacious, including a large, high end, eat-in kitchen, dining room, large living room and entry area, two large bedrooms and a bathroom with tub/shower combo. We include a local bottle of wine with your stay in order to elevate your experience! There are two guest rooms in the house, one holds a king-sized bed and boasts views of the garden. The other has a queen-sized bed and has a gorgeous view of one of the large redwoods on the property. There is also a laundry room area just off of the kitchen available for guest use as well.

A deck is situated right off of the dining room area, making for a perfect indoor outdoor entertaining experience.
Guest access
Guests will not have access to the suite upstairs on the second story of the house--it is used for host storage. We also have a basement area that is not accessible for guests. The supply closet in the house will remain locked for the duration of your stay.

-There are two surveillance cameras on the front gate where guests enter, and on the driveway.
-This listing is pet friendly, and we do have a pet fee of $50 per stay. We do not allow pets on the furniture, and we do have a fine for extra cleaning that may need to take place due to pet damage, such as staining the duvets or sheets.

The neighborhood is quiet and residential, off the beaten path but close to everything. Our Downtown Arcata Studio Apt is right next door to our Farmer's Market Apt, so families that need more space can book both apts as they share the same gate and landing. The winery next door, NorthStory Winery, frequently has live music and events on weekends, especially holiday weekends, Cal Poly graduation, etc, so we recommend contacting them to see what will be happening prior to booking if this is a concern. Everything is within a block or two away, there is a private parking lot with motion lighting We are always available to help by phone or text, but also respect our guest's privacy. Really lively section of town, with a Cidery/Winery and a popular seafood restaurant next door. The Arcata Plaza and Farmer's Market (on Saturday mornings) are a block away, lots of shopping, restaurants, and the Arcata Co-op within a block. Once you have parked your car in our private parking everything is within a block or two from the Apt, so you can walk or bike everywhere. We have tankless water heaters for unlimited hot water, rain shower heads, and very strong water pressure so much so many guests comment on how nice the showers are. This apartment overlooks Salt restaurant patio and Wrangletown Cidery/North Story Winery. On busy weekends, graduation, new years, etc it is likely there will be live music and events that could be noisy, we recommend checking with the the winery/cidery and restaurant if this is a concern for you.

The finishes were a cut above and everything felt fresh, clean and new. The shower was amazing!! . The parking was easy and it was good to know that there was a space for us. The gates to the property added an extra element of security, which was appreciated. The only caveat is that the space below and next-door (in the space between the unit and Salt) offers music on weekend nights. Our experience was that the Grateful Dead tribute band was pretty great, but the music went late. It did not bother me at all, but I sleep with earplugs! The blacktail deer were so sweet & weirdly,didn't seem 2B afraid of us. The Scottish Highland & Black Angus cattle & what looked like Scottish black faced sheep were so nice 2C, let alone wht looked like a Scandinavian or Eastern European Barn.There was also a barn tht had wht lookd like a lit Hex sign. Now, it's on a rd tht can B a bit dicey 2navigate, esp. when it's raining & there are locals driving because the st is quite narrow & just this side of a goat path at points but u WON'T regret renting this place. The hosts R lovely people & EXTREMELY responsive. We decided 2ask if it was possible2 stay an extra day & "BAM" it was done. We lucked out that there was no reservations last Sunday, (02.02.2025) This is,so far, the best vacation home we've reserved since we changed frm motels/hotels 2Vacation rentals.4 the foodies out there who prefer to cook, the kitchen is AMAZING! Our home is an historic farmhouse built by one of Arcata's earliest settlers, Isaac Minor, in 1862. It is a 2 acre parcel surrounded by a working farm and a small horse ranch. It has a pastoral feel yet is only 5 minutes from downtown. The area we are renting is separate from our living quarters. There's a full kitchen that is shared by the two separate guest rooms. We have a large field out front for games and multiple decks for lounging. We welcome all ethnic and spiritual backgrounds.

The space
The bedroom has a very comfortable full size bed. There is an adjoining private bathroom and the room has a microwave, kettle, keurig, and refrigerator. The common room which is also the entry sports a small kitchen and dining area. There are two decks with gas grills. I provide pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc. The common room will be shared if the other suite is rented. The two suites are separate and private from each other and each has its own private bathroom

Guest access
We have a large soccer filed that is available for games, frisbee, other and we have cornhole, bocce ball and ping pong for guests to use. There are several decks out front and to the side that are available for guests.

There is a common area between two separate suites that may be shared if there are guests in the other suite. Both suites are available for rent as a unit as well in which case the entire setting is private to the guests and not shared with the home owners.

The common room which is also the entry sports a small kitchen and dining area. There are also two decks each with a gas grill. I provide pots, pans, dishes, etc. If the other suite is rented then the common space may be shared.

You are welcome to enjoy the outside decks to the front and side. There is a large soccer field and we have bocce ball, frisbee golf and cornhole as well as ping pong for your enjoyment. There is a common room through which you will enter. It will be shared if there are guests staying in the other suite. Both suites are available for larger parties as needed.

Our studio is newly redone with white carpets in the living area, oriental rugs, a fully equipped kitchen with lots of counter space. There is comfortable queen-sized bed with Egyptian Cotton sheets and down comforter.

Arcata is a small university town located between Humboldt Bay and the Arcata Redwood Forest. The spectacular rocky seacoasts, beaches, and forests of Redwood National Park are just to the north. The beautiful clear rivers of the Six Rivers National Forest are both north and south.

Redwood forests, concerts, restaurants, and movies are all a pleasant walk away. The university brings major entertainment acts for reasonable prices and no parking problems, from Ray Charles to the Tokyo String Quartet.

Arcata has many community events, from the Oyster Festival, to bird watching gatherings, and a lively Saturday Farmer's Market. The Marsh Ponds are world famous for bird watching, and the Community Forest has miles of wild and remote hiking trails.

When you come in there is a front closet where you can leave your shoes and jackets. Slippers are provided for your comfort. To open the gate press the button down and slide the whole handle to the left.

The hallway is to the right and your room is the first door on the right. The bathroom you'll be using is straight down the hall.
The kitchen, living room and backyard access is a left turn from the front entryway.
There are some restricted areas in the house which are marked.

This little house is so convenient to all that the city of Arcata has to offer. It is only a 15 minute walk to downtown Plaza, five minutes up to Humboldt State University, and 10 minutes to Mad River Beach. It is a college town so it has a lot of variety in restaurants, music, and other entertainment! You will find your own private space with a separate entrance and exit plus the benefit of a relaxing hot tub under a redwood tree and stars at a reasonable price!

A queen size bed offers comfort in a private bedroom space and you also have your own private bathroom with tub and shower! There is a small refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker available as well.

The private entrance is across the grass path on the outside on the left of the front house. There is one step up to the wooden deck outside the door. There is a patio door that is unlocked for you. Also my mail box is across the street from my front door so you won’t get confused where my house is. It is the last house on the left of the dead end street.

The yard is full of flowers during spring, summer and fall so it's extra pretty for most of the year. Even though we're in a neighborhood it's unique because we are backed up to an orchard and organic CSA farm so it feels rural but there is a grocery store nearby and we are close enough to town to bike to. You're welcome to use the shared space of the yard where there is a fire pit and a small deck in a sunny corner. We have a dog that will be in the yard off and on so you gotta like pets.

The space
Everything is available to you in this small 290 square foot studio. When you enter you will see the mini-kitchen complete with a sink, refrigerator/freezer, and a fully equipped stove/oven. Immediately to your right there is a small table with two chairs. Continuing in the studio there is a couch that can turn into a small bed. (Please note: This is a SMALL bed. It will be most suitable for children or those adults with a small frame.) On the opposite end, there is a Roku TV for your viewing pleasure. The TV is able to be tilted as you may want to view from the queen sized bed, which is the next thing you will see as you journey into the studio. Finally there is a full bathroom with a bathtub & shower for your convenience.

The pathway to the studio is fenced off from the rest of the property, and that area along with the studio is available for you to use.

Other things to note
I want to reiterate that the sofa bed is quite small for someone who may be a bit taller. It measures 64" by 36" when it is fully placed into a bed.

Surrounded by pastures, it's a short walk to the Mad River for swims and walks. The Mad River Brewery is less than a mile up the road. Excellent mountain biking is 1 mile away. In a 15 minute drive you can find the hip town of Arcata, surrounded by redwoods and hiking as well as a majestic coastline. Sundays 10 am to noon we host a family friendly ecstatic dance in the studio adjacent to the apartment. Expect music at that time. Come join us! Public Yoga classes are Tuesday & Saturday am.

The space
We've been living on this property since 1999 and have raised our children here amongst other community members who also live on this property. We began building our custom home in 2008, moved into the home in 2014. Art takes time! We live as a multigenerational family with our grown son, his partner and our 2 year old grandson. We share the same beautiful entrance with the apartment. It is just to the left as you come in the door. You may be greeted by two friendly black labs, Lucy and Ollie. The full size bed is in the loft, so must have the agility to climb the European half step stairs. (see photos) The well appointed kitchenette has an industrial quality hot plate for cooking, microwave and toaster. If there is anything you need, just ask. The bathroom has a custom built shower with pebbles to gently massage your feet. Close both the doors for greater privacy and sound resilience. Please note that on Sundays from 10 am to noon there will be music in the adjacent movement space as we host a dance. All are welcome!

The apartment is within our home. In our home is also a movement space, The Blue Lake Sanctuary. There are public, community classes here, led by the owner, Peggy, for yoga on Tuesdays at 8:30-9:45 am, Saturdays 10 -11:30 am and Albo, the builder of the home, hosts a 5 Rhythms inspired ecstatic dance from 10 to noon on Sundays. You are welcome to join in on any of the public events in the studio. We also have a back yard through the gate that we share with other community members who live on our property. Please close the gate behind you to keep the dogs in. There is a trampoline to use at your own risk, picnic tables and a garden to meander in.

The space
The space has 2 organic latex queen size beds. It is an upstairs 575 square foot private loft space with high ceilings. There are interior stairs to access. The space gets lots of natural light and has black out shades for privacy at night. We have a large yard in a very private setting. There is a small fridge and coffee pot for your use. Coffee will be provided. There is not a kitchen, microwave or food prep area. Please plan accordingly and visit our local eateries. I like to stress there is no food prep area. The small fridge is great for keeping drinks cold, or storing sandwiches for on the go picnics etc.

We follow Airbnb’s five-step enhanced cleaning process, which is based on Airbnb’s cleaning handbook.

We sanitize all high-touch surfaces: remotes, doorknobs, light switches, etc.

Our 47 acre redwood-forested setting provides an ideal place and way to vacation or get away from populus areas during this current time.

Also, regarding Covid, by this time our guests understand the situation, have read our cancellation policy and assume all responsibility when they make the reservation. We are not refunding for reasons re Covid at this time.

Holidays weeks and weekends (Presidents week, Spring break, Memorial weekend, Labor Day weekend, Thanksgiving week, Christmas/Winter holiday and New Years) are 3 night minimum and HSU Graduation (May 16-19, 2019) and 4th of July week are 4 night minimum (higher rates for HSU graduation weekend). Visit the Arcata Farmer's Market or wonderful gourmet, organic grocery stores, Wildberries or the Co-Op and return to cook a delicious meal in the fully stocked kitchen with a gas-stove. Don't feel like cooking then throw some local grass fed beef or fresh fish on the propane BBQ and dine al-fresco on the patio. Sorry, no dishwasher but plenty of dish and glassware provided.

This cottage is on a quiet private property that is shared by two other residence and local wildlife, deer are frequently seen. The owner works on-site and offers guests complete privacy but is friendly and willing to tell you about his home and the local area. *Please help us be "good neighbors" by following quiet hours between 10 pm - 8 am, parking in designated spots and respecting the privacy of the other residents. ** Parking is limited to 2 vehicles maximum with additional visitor parking for 1 more car with prior approval.

Our house was built in 1862 by Isaac Minor, one of the original settlers to the area. It sits on 2 acres and is surrounded on 3 sides by a working flower farm and a small horse ranch. We live in a separate part of the house and the area we are renting has a private entrance and two separate bedrooms each with private baths. There is a full private kitchen and multiple decks for lounging and a large field for frisbee or other games. Our family keeps a large vegetable and flower garden.

The space
There are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in this part of the house and they share a common space between the two units. Each has a new standard pillow top mattress and a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and kettle. The larger of the two has a queen size bed and a small futon couch. The smaller has a full size bed. They are very private from each other and separate from our living space. The common room which is also the entry sports a full kitchen and dining area. There are two decks each with a gas grill. There are pots, pans, dishes, and utensils for your use.

We have a large soccer field that guests can access for games. We also have several games for guest use (cornhole, ping pong, bocce ball) . There are several outside decks for your use.
