This house is 1 of 3 in a private gated estate on 5 acres, though each house is situated in a way to enjoy privacy. Relax outdoors in the large shady oak meadow with family and friends, and watch woodpeckers, robins, bluejays and finches bathe in the pond.
The house itself has 2 bedrooms and one bathroom.
As you walk in from the parking area you’ll enter the large covered deck and through the front door you’ll find the bright living room and modern kitchen. The bedrooms and bath are located down a set of stairs off the living room. The larger bedroom has a door that leads outside to a second porch. The bathroom has a full bathtub great for soaking and an on-demand hot water heater to ensure that everyone gets a hot shower!

You’ll have access to the entire house and also the surrounding property that is shared with the other 2 Airbnb’s. The large meadow has a fire pit, a small pond, horseshoes, and a box with frisbees, baseball bats and balls, soccer balls etc.

The property is set in the woods, and enjoy visits from a variety of wildlife, including foxes, skunks, squirrels, turkeys, and the neighbor's cats and chickens at times.

Being situated on the Avenue of The Giants, there is easy access to HWY 101,
but you may also hear some noise from the highway.

Our unique and beautiful home is nestled in the mountains above the Historic Benbow Inn, just 15 minutes away from the famous Avenue of the Giants. Our circular dome-shaped house, lovingly nicknamed The Hobbit House, is made with compacted straw bales and earth. It's not only eco-friendly but also has deep windows, niches, and shelves that give the walls a magical and artistic feel.

Our goal is to provide a memorable vacation experience that focuses on outdoor living. Imagine enjoying the fire pit under a covered gazebo, relaxing in the hot tub, or bouncing on the 14' trampoline while taking in the breathtaking views of the King Range.

Step inside the main house, and you'll find a spacious interior with high vaulted ceilings and a cozy living area with a fireplace and surround sound system. The kitchen is surrounded by an impressive island bar top that can seat 12 people, making it perfect for family vacation gatherings.

The two luxury bathrooms on the main level have walk-in showers, and the bedrooms have comfortable king beds and futons with lovely views of the oak forest and emerald-green mountains in the distance. For younger travelers, the loft area adjacent to the fireplace has a queen bed, four twin beds, and a large crash pillow.

If you're looking for more privacy, we also have a Cottage and a Tree House Casita. The Cottage is approximately 100 ft from the main house and has incredible views of the valley below. The Tree House Casita cantilevers over the hill and is surrounded by trees, making it feel like a real treehouse.

As this house is on the hilltop, there are a set of stairs to access the main level of the house. Additionally, the house has a set of stairs to access the second floor bedrooms and bath which contains a full bathtub. Behind the sliding barn door, the master bedroom has a private bath with a shower. The fully equipped kitchen is set off the living room and has an island that is great for meal prep while visiting with guests. High quality furnishings and linens, and we keep to traditional interior styling to best blend with our mountain retreat. The house is approximately 1,500 square feet of living space plus a large garage and game area on the ground level.

The sauna in the backyard is available for guests to use and directions for operation are located in the welcome guide inside the house.

Guests have access to the entire house, the deck and backyard. Additionally there is a large meadow below the house (which has a pond/ fire pit/picnic area), and is shared with guests from the other 2 houses on the 5 acre estate.

I am always available by phone or through your booking platform should any issues arise, and usually within a 10-15 minute drive away for any issues that may need resolution in person (i.e. internet reset or power outage, etc.).

The DRIVEWAY leading up to the house is GRAVEL and somewhat STEEP in areas. Use caution and drive slowly up and down the hill. All types of vehicles with good tires can make it up the drive, some more easily than others.

If you are pulling a trailer, feel free to park and unhitch in the meadow below, as parking and turning around is tight once you get to the top of the hill and reach the house.

The best time to enjoy river activities is (approximately) April until August. In drought years the water will be very low.

The home was conveniently located and close to both Redway and Garberville as well as interesting tourist sites like Avenue of the Giants and Shelter Cove. The home was very clean and welcoming. Two queen size bedrooms, full kitchen, dining room and large living room. 2 large Smart TVs were also included. We were very happy with our choice of stay and will put this home at the top of our list for any future returns."

As I enjoyed the amenities, I found just what I wanted, the right kind of tea, the oils I prefer, the cappuccino machine, good speakers for music, , the golf cart with a rain cover so we could enjoy the gorgeous outdoor when it sprinkled.And then my kids didn’t leave that basketball court and they were happy to find basketballs there/c theirs popped. The kids played ping pong and my oldest loved working out and occupying the poolhouse. Great spot and super close to where we need to be :)"
