My home is in the heart of Mendocino wine country, just minutes from the town of Ukiah and 1hr 40min from SF. You'll love this property's open floorplan, clean home with spectacular mountaintop views taken in while lounging, eating, hot tubbing, and even showering (heated shower) poolside on a 21 acre property good for short walks and picnics. Has 3-4 acre fenced in area perfect for pets! Home is great for couples, small groups of friends, families and kids and pets. Deck hot tub for 6 overlooks scenic valley!

The space

The house has a bright open kitchen floor plan with incredible views out panel sized windows and sliding glass doors. Perfect for seamless indoor/outdoor living on the 2000 square foot south-southeast facing redwood deck with a pool, hot tub, gas grill and even an outdoor shower!

A 6 person hot tub on the deck overlooking the scenic Bell Valley is great in any weather. The spa is cleaned and treated every week.

The kitchen is newly remodeled farmhouse style with new appliances and deep sink, and an island with a stovetop, designed for eating and socializing during cooking.

There is a 400-foot long dirt and rock driveway up to the house, steep in parts, that can be intimidating for drivers not used to driving on rural dirt roads. It is smoothed and re-rocked every year and is accessible to front-wheel drive vehicles, however for vehicles without 4 wheel drive, you may likely experience some tire spin driving up, plus cars will collect dust from the road, especially in the late summer and early fall before the first rains of the fall. If this is something that you are not comfortable with we advise that you do not book the house. Our cleaners drive front-wheel drive sedans up the driveway on a regular basis all year without difficulty, so it is accessible for non 4 wheel drive vehicles but drivers with minimal experience on rural roads may be reluctant so be please be advised that you may experience tire spin while going up the driveway. We provide additional guidance on driving up (drive up with momentum, in low automatic gear) and are happy to answer any questions to prospective guests but please be advised that, again, the driveway to the house is a steep, dirt and rock road when deciding to book. You are always welcome to park some or all vehicles along the bottom section of our private driveway above lower gate for walking or shuttling a second car if you feel more comfortable only driving a four wheel drive vehicle up the driveway.

Pool is a weekly cleaned and treated unheated pool exposed to direct sunlight almost the whole day with a solar cover. The pool can be warm enough to swim into October and early as April depending on how hot or cold the recent weather has been and whether/how much it has rained recently. We have a heated outdoor shower right next to the pool. The pool is winterized from November-March because the water temperature is typically quite cool. Lovely Mediterranean plants dot the hillside next to the deck including blooming olive trees and lavender. Deck edge facing downhill is secured with fencing with other sides open to flat or gently-sloped ground or short set of stairs. There are steep hills once off the deck so small children will require supervision. There is a Weber barbecue grill at the house perfect for outdoor grilling and eating.

Master bedroom has a king size brand new memory foam mattress, wall mounted flat screen with cable and Netflix. It has windows overlooking the mountains valley and a sliding glass door directly onto the deck next to the pool. The master bathroom has a shower and raised bathtub, with two separate sinks. The second bedroom has a brand new queen size memory foam mattress and direct access to the second bathroom with a window that looks onto the garden.

There is a new queen-size Aerobed and a comfortable futon sleeper sofa for use in the very large sized family room for additional guests.

The house has a new washer and drier, new dishwasher, and full cell phone coverage and high speed wifi internet access. The house is also stocked with books, games and some toys.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the full private access 21 acre property of lovely, mature California oak and Manzanita trees savannah hillsides which includes a 3-4 acre fenced in area for pets. Please close driveway gate upon entry and exit to prevent deer from coming in and eating the plants near the house. The house and deck and nearly all of the property offer full privacy with neighboring properties' homes at quite a distance away. A good walk on the property is to walk up the hillside just outside the manual gate. Towards the top of the property you can find a bench on a flatter area that is great for picnics, with lovely views of the Ukiah Valley.

The county requires any short term lodging host (hotel, camping, B&Bs, VRBOs) to collect an 11% Transient Occupancy Tax based on the stay charge excluding cleaning and service charge fees. Payment is collected by VRBO and paid by the host to the county.

The neighborhood

The house is very private on 21 acres, with similar large acreage properties of friendly full time resident neighbors. Please be respectful to our close community of neighbors by not hosting any parties and by maintaining reasonable volume levels as sound does travel up and down the mountainside and valley.

Within 5-10 minutes of the house, you can find excellent visitor friendly Mendocino County winery estates including food and live music in the Ukiah Valley. The town of Ukiah has great restaurants and weekly outdoor events in summer. The City of Ten Thousand Buddhas is a Buddhist temple and monastery nearby that is worth visiting.

The house is also right off of Boonville Road which is a lovely roughly 15 mile drive to the adjacent Anderson Valley wine district. The quaint towns of Boonville, Philo and Navarro in the heart of the Anderson Valley AVAs have world class wineries specializing in pinot noir, chardonnay, syrah, and sparkling wines, as well as excellent restaurants. The pioneering craft beer Anderson Valley Brewery has a tap room and offers daily tours. There are several wine and other festivals throughout the year in the Anderson Valley and Ukiah Valley.

Getting around

There is plenty of parking in the circle driveway next to the home. The lower gate remains open while the upper gate next to the garden shed is to keep deer out of the plants near the house and allow pets to have a confined space to roam so please make sure the gate is securely closed after each entry and exit. Access to Highway 101 is less than five minute drive to and from the house. Please be advised that as most places in nature in Northern California there is always the risk of ticks for your pets and yourselves, so you should be sure and check yourselves and your pets after trips out into the property and nature.

The area is lush with greenery including Hendy Woods, many vineyards, orchards, and pastureland. The valley is filled with rolling oak covered hills, madrone trees, colorful wildflowers, and towering majestic redwoods. Many local wineries with tasting rooms are located on Highway 128. Also our local brewery makes delicious beer and offers tastings and tours as well. Hiking is a treat in Hendy Woods, along the Navarro River, or on the Coast. We are a short half hour drive to the gorgeous Mendocino Coast. We are only a few minutes from Camp Navarro, a local site for music events, retreats, weddings, etc.

Although we are not remote, you feel solitude, as no other buildings are visible from the property. Serene and private, the two-story house has two bedrooms with a futon in living room. Sleeps 4 comfortably. On the second floor a master bedroom has a queen-size bed and museum-quality paintings, the second bedroom has a queen bed with a romantic south-facing balcony for stargazing or greeting the day. A full bath on second floor. Downstairs a double futon-couch can accommodate an additional guest in the large living room. A wood-burning stove affords visible cheer and extra warmth. The home is filled with stunning artwork. Ethnic fabrics on upholstery, pillows and spreads add more artistic touches, but the home is kid-friendly, with extra folding futons and air mattress.

Walked to the Boonville Hotel for dinner Friday night and brought in food from their new sister restaurant on Saturday. House was very clean and convenient to town. Having stayed down the street at the Tolman House several times (dogs allowed there), I knew that we would be hearing the traffic. With ear plugs it wasn’t a problem. The Star Dome Planet is a 1,000 sqft with an open space interior design that allows for maximum entertaining. Safe and Cozy Sleeping for Four guests (2): Two guests on a comfortable KS bed, and a QS floor mattress for occasional visitors. Both the KS bed and the floor mattress are under one Star Dome roof. The walls are filled with unique art and sculpture by artist JQ, while the furnishings mirror the mid-century aesthetic of the architecture. We have designed a unique environment customized and filled with magic. An outside clawfoot hot tub for soaking under the stars. A full working kitchen, bathroom with shower, office with dedicated computer desk, and private off street parking. Fully equipped Kitchen is supplied with teas and coffee.

The hosts have made a very nice and unique place to stay here. You can tell they take pride in how their space looks and feels. It is decorated with the host's own artwork and there is quite a bit to look at. It is located only a couple blocks away from downtown Ukiah, centrally located and close to everything in Ukiah. It is priced very fair for the size and well worth the price when you include the atmosphere inside and out. I will definitely be staying here again if I am back in the area.

Rooster Ridge is a dog friendly, picturesque hideaway, perfectly located 20 minutes from the beach and wine country. You can enjoy solitude among the redwoods overlooking Anderson Valley, or entertain and play table tennis and other outdoor games on the full wraparound deck. RR is a short drive from fine dining in Elk, Philo, Boonville or Mendocino. You can also cook in our well stocked chef's kitchen (gas BBQ). An oasis among the redwoods overlooking Anderson Valley, Rooster Ridge is a standalone two bedroom home that accommodates four people comfortably, six people max, and dogs. Ideal for a family getaway, friends or couples retreat. This unique house is a recently renovated cabin built in the 1950s for loggers that worked on the old mill that was located on the property. At Rooster Ridge, you're in the peaceful countryside, so you're bound to see deer, bunnies, foxes and an occasional friendly possum.

About the interior: The bedrooms both include queen size beds, and one room includes a desk. There are two twin size rollaway beds that can be set up for kids or extra guests to use. Setting these up in the bedrooms will only work for one room, and it's a tight squeeze, so best to place these in the main living space. The large main living space includes two couches nestled in front of the wood burning stove built into an old fireplace, with a drop leaf coffee table to puzzle or play games (included). There and two chairs facing a smartTV with streaming access. There is also a dining table that can accommodate six people max. The well-stocked kitchen is next to the living room and includes a butcher block, counter space and a bar cart with cocktail accessories.

About the Exterior: There is a deck surrounding the entire home, with seating in three different areas, so you can move to or away from the sun comfortably. The Ping Pong table is set up on the back deck, and there are outdoor friendly ConnectFour, Cornhole and a life sized yatzee game available to set up anywhere on the deck or property. The entire property is fenced in to ensure dogs have a place to roam free. There is plenty of parking in the back, for easy access to hauling goods in - with only one step involved - as well as parking in the front for an RV, or three cars. There are four Adirondack chairs on the lawn facing a clearing that overlooks Anderson Valley (Navarro), where you can enjoy a cup of coffee at dawn, or your libation of choice at dusk. Stargazing at Rooster Ridge is spectacular! It's very peaceful to be among the trees where you will hear all of the sounds of the forest!

The Creekside Cottage at Whispertree sits on 640 acres of rolling oak-filled hills. There are 5+ miles of hiking trails, a swimming pond, and many outdoor seating spots, all secluded in the privacy and pristine natural landscape of Bell Valley.

Two hours north of San Francisco, Whispertree provides easy access to wineries, parks, and the beauty of the Anderson Valley. "Far out and out of this world! Perfect space for a couple or small family! Spacious two bedroom located right in the heart of downtown Ukiah, where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. Right in the mix of wine country, exotic redwood groves, and relaxing hot springs. Everything you need right within a few minutes of the Stardome, including a movie theater, library, and grocery stores like the Ukiah Food CO-OP. The space itself can be quite inspiring with unique art and accent pieces. The building itself is a small piece of history as it was once the local pharmacy with a unique architectural design. The apartment has a well equipped kitchen with all the tools needed to cook up a gourmet meal and dining table to present it. Even has a large tub great for tranquil soaking separate from the toilet, (a surprisingly significant plus). A shared laundry room is attached to the unit, and can be accessed from inside, which is also a huge plus. The pictures that are posted are great, but dont come close to the charm and thoughtfulness of this place."

This place was perfect for the wedding we attended! It was just down the street from out family/friends and was VERY convenient. Additionally it is walking distance to downtown dining and activities. The place itself is very eclectic and unique. The property manager was quick and responsive when we locked ourselves out and was there within minutes. Overall a great experience!

I will be back. Location location location = Westside Ukiah (I am almost hate to write this review as it may alert too many folks to this great place.)" - "The location was great, walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The place was super clean and the kitchen worked well. There isn’t any comfortable furniture for sitting around and relaxing. With the heat while we were there it was a problem. The AC worked great. The dining table is beautiful and comfortable. The desk for working is good and the internet was reliable. The place is a bit dark. There are a lot of light fixtures but little natural light. The artwork is distinctive and plentiful. If it isn’t to your taste it can be overwhelming. The two TVs sound quality is poor. Fortunately we had another speaker. I don’t think that we will return."

Cozy +/-180 s.f. backyard studio 2 mins off Hwy 101. The neighborhood is quiet + parking on the street is safe + easy. Entrance to the studio is down the driveway, thru a gate, and into the backyard. Clean + comfortable queen bed w/cotton sheets, bathroom w/ 4’x3’ shower, cotton towels, ac/heating, tv, and kitchenette w/ a 1 zone induction stove + utensils - everything you’d need to make a nice meal..

The space
The studio is in the backyard, behind the main house. The entrance from the street is down the driveway, through a gate with the studio key in a lockbox hanging from the inside of the gate, then along the backyard path to the studio’s front door. In the studio the kitchenette and bedroom share the same room, and the bathroom is in a separate room. In rainy season we cover and store most of the outdoor furniture.

Guest access
Guests can be anywhere in the open spaces of the backyard that’s shared with the main house. The small yard area (25’x 10’) just outside the studio front door is situated in a way that makes it a semi-private outside area. There is a 2nd backyard guests may also access which is through a gate right next to the studio. In that area there is a flat grassy open space, a few fruit trees, a trailer, a carport tent, and an ancient Oak tree.

Other things to note
For stays longer than 27 days there is an additional contract and deposit required - please inquire if interested.

The neighborhood is safe and quiet with some nice tall trees. It’s a 20 min walk / 5 min drive to Downtown Ukiah. 5 mins drive to the Hospital and Courthouse. The Great Redwood Trail is 2.5 blocks away, which is a paved walkway that goes the North and South length of the city of Ukiah, and you can walk or bicycle along it with minimal car traffic, day and night. Starbucks is a 10 min walk, Walmart is a 5 min walk, and Costco is 5 min drive. Montgomery Woods State Natural Reserve and Orr Hot Springs 30 min drive. Lake Mendocino South Ramp and Dam 11 mins drive and Vichy Springs Resort is an 8 min drive.

There is some uncovered space in the backyard to keep your bicycle(s), or other equipment.

There are pots, pans, utensils, iron/board, yoga mat, and extra blanket inside the studio.

Guests with children are welcome to stay if sharing the queen bed is comfortable for them. A couple with an infant may stay here as well if they bring their own bed for the baby or we can provide a Bjorn travel crib, upon request, with mattress pad, cotton fitted sheet, and blankets. Todd Grove Park with a nice playground and tall trees is 8 mins drive. NOTE: this property is not baby/child proof so please supervise your children at all times!

Laundry service is just two blocks away.

This studio is suitable for two guests on shorter stays, but for longer stays it’s perfect for one guest, especially in winter when we all tend to spend more time inside.

The main room with the bed and kitchenette is about 14’x10’ and the bathroom is about 4’x10’.

Casa Avena sits on just under ½ acre on this quiet street with only 6 neighbors. Lots of sun and wildlife all around us. We share the property with the does and their fawns, yearlings and 2 year olds. At night there are a billion stars.
The room is small with a ceiling fan, one window overlooking the back lot, a small closet and dresser. There is a small antique desk that you may use. The bookshelf is full of books which you can feel free to peruse. This room is adjacent to my other Airbnb room which may also be occupied. If it is, you and the other guest will share the full bathroom.

Visit the unique shops in the historical part of town just 2 blocks away, take a local tour of some private and amazing 420 agriculture in season, or curl up with a book under the grape arbor. In downtown Willits, within 5 minutes walk, there are cafés, shops, Skunk Train, a historical museum, live theater, hiking trails, and several lovely parks. There is always something to do and see in Willits. It is a friendly town, people stop to visit on the street.

Centrally located for day trips around the area. Drive north to the massive redwood trees on the Avenue of the Giants, ride the famous Skunk Train, find wine tasting all around, or take a short drive to the Pacific Ocean and the quaint village of Mendocino. All these experiences are close by.


The Neighborhood
The west side of Willits is the oldest and historical area of our little valley. This beautiful section of town is a quiet place to stroll and admire the variety of architectural styles, from stately Victorians to charming Craftsman bungalows. It is a sweet pretty neighborhood a few minutes from downtown.

An off-grid redwood retreat located four miles down a winding dirt road. Fall asleep in a log cabin under towering redwoods. Wake up and drink your coffee on the wrap-around veranda with comfortable seating, listening to the sounds of a year-round creek. Sometimes rustic is exactly what you need. Please plan to arrive in daylight hours to get your bearings.

You walk down a stone path into a kitchen studio room with a wood stove, daybed twin and bathroom all on one level.

We have 200 acres of wild forest that you are free to explore but please watch out for ticks. We're off grid but have all the necessities in terms of kitchen appliances, hot water, lighting, and wifi.

Please no smoking inside or outside. It's a fire hazard.

Hazel Putnam, an accomplished equestrian of the last century and legend of Reeves Canyon, lived on this land for almost a hundred years, until the late 1990s. Over the last twenty years we've renovated a bit, but made very few changes otherwise. The upper half of the house is rented to long-term tenants, so they are nearby. Guests are welcome to wander around across the creek, where Hazel kept her horses and had a little outdoor kitchen, and up the little path across Reeves Canyon Rd.

Other things to note
There is no cell service, so turn on your wifi calling if you have that option. We don't have a landline. We are off the electric grid, and rely on a solar array, generator and batteries to power our lights and appliances (except the ones that are propane). We drink our water, but we do not vouch for it - it is from a surface spring and is not filtered. Bring water bottles or boil water.

Reeves Canyon road is a narrow dirt road that has to accommodate two-way traffic. There are turnouts to pass oncoming cars. Please take it slowly with a maximum speed of 15 mph.

Occasionally, we have power outages. If that happens, we will provide battery operated lights and turn on the generator, but there may be a delay.

Our home is peaceful and is called, 'the house that love built' because we took it from a nasty, awful major fixer upper and have turned it into an enjoyable place we call HOME :) We take every measure to keep our home picture perfect & presentable because that's how I like it BUT we DO live in this space and we are busy people that have lives. Please keep this in mind if you find something out of place or in need of attention. If ANYthing is unworthy of a 5STAR rating on Airbnb then please, do bring to our attention during your stay and we will fix it!

Our offering at present is 1 fair sized bdrm w/ Queen sz bed (pictured) which sleeps 1-2 and is located directly next to the guest bathroom.

A smart TV is available in this Queen room. A ceiling light fan and additional lamp lighting as well. Carpeted throughout.

Living Room with soft, cozy beautiful red couches is a great place to kick back and relax!

Dining room table is open for gathering to eat, sit & study/ read/ use your laptop …. on occasion playing a game is a great option!

Bonus Room is where Dan & I most likely & often can be found in the evening unwinding to a good movie, Tv series or just catching up about our day. Guests are always welcome to join!!

Dan works full-time and is often 'on-call'. I am either at home working on home-based businesses, tending to our home/pet/yard or out of town briefly for grandma duty. When home, either of us are often available to interact at whatever level is comfortable & convenient. This house is a piece of the towns history. It was built in the early 1900s and is made of redwood. It originally was located on State Street (central road in Ukiah) and then moved to its new location. The house is quaint and charming and has enough modern updates to get the best of both worlds. It is 650 square foot house, close to downtown and in a quiet neighborhood. The kitchen is fully functional with all your cooking needs. The bed has been called “the most comfortable bed” by guests.

The space
650 square foot house with a full kitchen; including a stove, microwave, fridge and the necessities for cooking and eating. You will need to bring your own food and condiments.

This newly renovated studio apartment/duplex is located on the east side of Ukiah. You will be less than a 3 mile drive to most restaurants and shopping. Montgomery Woods State Natural Reserve and Orr Hot Springs Resort are approximate 35 minute drive from here. Vichy Springs is less than 10 minutes. Distance to the Golden Gate Bridge: 100 miles, SFO: 114 miles, Oakland Airport: 111 miles, Sacramento Airport: 91 miles.

In addition to the queen size bed (12” firm back support memory foam) the bedroom has a tv, a small closet, luggage rack, and usb multi port charger. The living room has a leather couch (not a fold out) which can also be used for sleeping. The 43” smart tvs in both rooms have full access to many streaming platforms such as Hulu, HBO Max, YouTube Tv etc. There is additional bedding & blankets stored in the bedroom and living room closets.

Heating/cooling can be fully adjusted in both rooms by the guest. There are space heaters and fans available as well.

The kitchenette (no stove top or oven) includes a small sink area with filtered water dispenser, mini refrigerator, microwave oven, air fryer and electric kettle. It is equipped with plateware, cutlery, glasses and mugs along with miscellaneous utensils and kitchen items. More than suitable for salad and snack preparation, reheating and toasting but not suitable for extensive meal preparation. Assorted teas, coffees, snacks and fruit are also available.

The deck is partitioned for privacy but you will still see deer, a small dog and several cats walking in the large back yard!

This RV is located on a 46-acre property, it's in front of the main residence, on a large cement driveway, with plenty of parking. A peaceful spot with trails and beautiful views. Come enjoy all Mendocino has to offer. Orr Hot Springs is just up the road or keep going all the way to the coast! Lake Mendocino is less than 15 minutes away, and plenty of wineries and dispensaries for all the grape and cannabis lovers.

The 5th Wheel is a 2016 with three slide-outs, a queen size full walk around bed, with memory foam mattress is located up front along with full size shower. Island kitchen, large pantry, Leather lounge chairs in the rear. Inside and outside dining areas, with additional awning covered spot with 2 more chairs. Very serene area, ideal for someone looking to relax!

Guests will have access to most of the 46 acre property, via hiking trails. Private vehicle, taxi, Uber, or Lyft required to get around this rural subdivision neighborhood as it is 3.2 miles to N. State St. in Ukiah, and the narrow winding 2-lane road is not good for bicycling or walking.

Airbnb operator, Chris, lives on the property; he gives guests their space, but is available when needed.

The house location is a 6-minute drive to N. State St. in Ukiah to access nearby Raley's grocery store & other markets including Costco, nearby local Forks Ranch Market, and Woodys Wash & Dry Laundromat in Raley's Shopping Center is 7 min. drive. The space
The Dreaming Tower is well suited for those working remotely with unlimited internet (with speeds up to 26 mb/s, with the option to increase this speed*, note: rainy weather can slow the internet a bit) and good cell phone reception, both of which are a considerable challenge in this rural area!

The Tower (completely private) is on the 3rd and 4th floor of the main house (where we live) and is accessible by a private outdoor grapevine lined staircase. Once you breathe in the fresh air and the incredible view at the top of the stairs – you’ll take a right into your room. The main room is an open studio design with lots of windows, a queen sized bed, dining table and a kitchenette. The kitchen area includes a small “apartment” refrigerator (7.1 cubic feet) with small freezer, 2 burner gas stove, sink, microwave, small blender, toaster, countertop oven with convection, coffee grinder and maker, utensils, cookware and dinnerware. Also provided is coffee/ tea and condiments, including sugar, salt and pepper.

The private full bathroom is accessible by a very short walk OUTSIDE on your covered deck (that does get wet when it rains) and is equipped with a standing shower, no bath (see photos).
If you want to get even higher, climb the inside stairs to the 4th floor loft, where you’ll discover an enchanted space with more awe inspiring views and the “Turret Art Gallery" and office space.

The location:
Since we share the property with Ross Ranch, horseback rides can easily be arranged in advance – for either the surrounding redwood forest area or on Manchester beach, a 40 minute drive away. We are also conveniently located between the charming, and often overlooked, coastal town of Elk (20 min drive) and the Anderson Valley tasting rooms (30 min drive). Make a trip to Elk for a great breakfast at the Elk House, a nice walk on Greenwood Beach and then either head along the coast south to tour the Point Arena Lighthouse (30 min drive) or north to the historic town of Mendocino (30 min drive). Or head to the quaint Anderson Valley for a stroll beneath the giant old-growth redwood trees at Hendy Woods State Park (20 min drive) and an afternoon of wine tasting and bahl gorms (“good food” in Boontling, the almost extinct local language).

We are located in a very rural area surrounded by forestland and the nearest town is Elk with a small store and a Michelin star restaurant.

Getting here and around requires driving on windy rural roads and even thought we are only 130 miles north of San Francisco - it will take you at least 3 hours to get here, so plan accordingly. It is always a good idea to fill up on gas and groceries at the bigger towns, like Cloverdale and Fort Bragg. Also, getting to our house involves driving less than 1/2 a mile on a gravel road - my Mini Cooper made it just fine - that being said "The Dreaming Tower" may be more suited to the hearty adventurous traveler looking to "get away from it all" and rediscover peace, quiet and natural beauty :)

Animals:
We are a small working farm; therefore we have to be strict about our no pet policy. It is not that we dislike animals, on the contrary we are already flooded with them – we have resident indoor/ outdoor pets (cats and a dog) and livestock (free-range chickens and horses in a corral) that we need to consider. In addition, our property is open (not fenced in), and our neighbor's dogs and cats occasionally make a visit.
We do need to consider the safety everyone's animals, and we don't want to be responsible for any issues that may occur.
We do apologize for the inconvenience!
The resident dog, Maya, is very friendly and rarely barks.

Note: Since this is a long term rental (30 day min) we would love someone who is easy going, quiet and clean. Check out the house rules to make sure this is a good fit for you. It is ideal for someone working from home, wanting to explore the area, or doing an internship/ seasonal work locally or an artist or author looking for a quiet place to work. In addition to your private space, you are free to walk around our gardens and walk the gravel driveway that you drive in on (please don't go on our neighbors roads...things are pretty well marked). My sister's (Ross) house area is private (we will point that out).
I am often asked about trails within walking distance from the rental, and aside from walking our gravel road we are surrounded by private property and logging land without public access. There are beautiful park lands within driving distance to explore and I am happy to help you plan an outing. There is a binder in the room with maps and info and a local hikes guidebook.

We have cleared some hazard trees around our house and haven't updated all the photos yet.

Cuteness alert - we do have a young child that contributes to the country sounds... Needless to say we do our best to minimize the noise, especially at night and early mornings.

Please go SLOW on the driveway - watch for kids and animals.

We do allow smoking outside but not in the room.

The rental is for 1 person ONLY (the person who booked the rental), please limit overnight guests to 8 nights max for the duration of your month long stay.

Please help us conserve electricity, gas and water resources during your stay.

Our water is from a well on our property, it's fine and we drink it .

There is no maid service during your stay - extra sheets, towels and basic cleaning supplies are provided.
And since it is a long term stay - after you use the provided coffee, tea, soap, toilet paper, etc. you'll need replenish your own supplies.

Also, since we live in a rural area there going to be insects, spiders, other animals and dust around. We of course clear the rental of this before your arrival as best we can and there are screens on all the windows and doors (except the bathroom door). We live here without it impacting our health and safety but this is something for you to consider when making your choice.

Winter Warning: Winter in this area is for the hardy, so you know what you are getting into. Though we usually don't get snow, we are getting more severe winter storms with trees blocking the roads, power outages (we do have a generator) and heavy rain. Note the generator is loud and we turn it off during the night.

This flat is in a historical building within walking distance of the old town center of Ukiah. It is one block walk to School Street shops, down town bars and restaurants and the court house. Enjoy the charm and character of this building deeply steeped in Ukiahan history.

Up a common humble entrance and to the right you will find a door that opens into a second floor apartment that includes a kitchen, a living room with a pool table and two bedrooms (and of course .... a necessary). Though, spacious enough it is European diminutive to serve as a comfortable home base. Plan on cozy coffee mornings and contented night caps in a fully functional kitchen.

The space
This is a budget friendly Airbnb! Great place to lay your head and rest and get ready to head out for an adventure.
2 bedroom 1 bath guesthouse/duplex is tucked away on a cul de sac street with it’s own private entrance! The space can accommodate up to four people. It is a little tight for four adults, but it works as long as you don’t mind a small space. It’s ideal for one or two adults or for two adults and a couple of kids.

The guesthouse is attached to the main house but there are no shared bedroom walls.

We are about 15 minutes away from willits, where you can ride the skunk train and grab food on the way up the mountain to make a delicious dinner.

We are less than an hr. away from the coast, where you can visit Fort Bragg and Mendocino.

If you choose to stay close, there are two reservoirs, a hiking trail and picnicking within walking distance as pictured on this sight.

In town there are two pubs, gyms, public swimming, yoga, and a health food store.

The rv is cumfy n cozy for a couple, and a family with kids and pets! I provide two dog beds n treats.
There is also puzzles n cards n games for the kiddos. I also suggest you drive just a short distance to do your outdoor activities as the rv is in a quiet residential area in the woods.

Just a note: If the kids run n jump in rv it will shake.

There is a queen bed, two bunk beds and the kitchen table can be folded out into a bed.
I also bought a fold out cot. The top bunk has a maximum weight capacity of 150lbs.

It says 3 bed 2.5 bath but that’s how it populates if you put more than one photo in the description.
It’s actually a queen bed next to a bathroom with shower, toilet and sink and then another set of bunk beds at the opposite end with another 1/2 bathroom with a sink and toilet.

If multiple appliances are used at once, the breaker will trip.
Please use just one at a time.

The Recording Studio is a converted four-room studio (no gear left ) in the country surrounded by vineyards & forests. The price includes a $10 county tax fee and no costs for housekeeping or other extras.

You have access to a Level 2 EV plugin, half bath & kitchenette, the main kitchen & shower are shared. No pets please.

Our place is full of art, Alice in Wonderland magical landscaping, music, horses and creativity. A 56-acre woodland reserve for hiking is down the road.

The space
Stay in a converted recording studio (there is no gear left to use) in the country off a one-lane dirt road where many great records were made. Our guests say it is the quietest sleep they have had in years as the walls are 2' thick. You have your own private entrance into the studio complex which adjoins our house.

No pets allowed for the safety of other guests who may have allergies.

Guests have their own space which are four rooms total that adjoins the main house yet separate from our home.

We are solar powered, on a well, situated on 5 serene acres and surrounded by vineyards. Our front yard has been turned into a large Alice in Wonderland sculpture for guests to enjoy. This is a rural 'in the country' getaway for unplugging.

A California king bed is in the Control Room and a queen bed in the 'Isolation Booth'. We also have a single futon that can used and a couch. Price includes an 11% Mendocino County Transitory Occupancy Tax. All fees are included in the price. There is a $50 fee for each additional person after two people. Futon mattress is available for extra people.

You have your own private half bath which has a toilet and sink. The shower is in a separate bathroom which is shared with the hosts in the main house.

Included is a private coffee pot, tea pot, microwave, small fridge and a toaster oven. Use of the main kitchen is shared. Water source is an artesian well.

Some of the artists who recorded here are Paul Winter, Holly Near, Alex de Grassi, Paul McCandless, Barbara Higbie, Kostia, Todd Philips, Mike Marshall, Darol Anger, Michael Manring, Joe Craven, Paul Winter and many others. Lee Mun Wah's award winning films on racism (The Color of Fear, Last Chance for Eden, If These Walls Could Talk) were all filmed here.

Play the concert grand piano, guitars or percussion, take horseback riding lessons for a fee ($35 an hour - we have horses and a riding arena - contact us prior to arrival to schedule a lesson), swim in the pool (seasonal), hike trails in the 56 acre woods next to us, tour Mendocino county wineries (90+), and much more. Spencer will offer a private piano concert upon request.

Wireless and cable hookup are throughout. Flat screen video and movies abound in surround sound in the Control Room. Listen to music on a killer sound system and wake up to complete silence.

We are 10 minutes north of Ukiah right off Hwy 101, one hour to the Pacific coast and two hours north of SF. Visit regional highlights like numerous area wineries, Orr Hot Springs, Vichy Hot Springs, Montgomery Woods old growth redwood grove, The Skunk Train, the Mendocino coastline, Anderson Valley wineries, Blue Lake, The City of 10,000 Buddha's, Grace Hudson Museum, Steam and Roots of Power Museum, Lake Mendocino, Ukiah Golf Course and Ukiah's Golf course.

Local restaurants to visit include Patrona, Oco Time, Saucy, Ukiah Brewing Company, City of 10,000 Buddha's, Cultivo, Left Coast Seafood , Ellie's Mutt Hut, Schat's Bakery and too many Mexican Restaurants to mention.

We live in the country on a one lane dirt road. It is quiet and yet close to town (10 minutes). We have a 3 acre walnut orchard, riding arena, great garden on 5 acres and surrounded by much more.

MTA (Local bus line) comes to Redwood Valley. Greyhound stop is 20 minutes away. We will be happy to coordinate s time to meet and pick you up.

The space
Enjoy the comforts of home in this 440 sq. ft. studio modern log cabin guest house built in 1999 nestled upon a 46-acre parcel overlooking the Ukiah valley featuring a full kitchen and bathroom, cathedral ceiling, covered front porch & large concrete patio. The property is 3.2 miles from N. State St. in Ukiah, which is a 6 minute drive.

There's also a separate sitting area just below the front of the house with a graveled pathway to relax & enjoy the views that leads to walking trails on the property.

The full-size bathroom is within the studio & has a double-wardrobe closet & a large tiled shower, as is the full-size kitchen with granite countertops, a round dining table, and sub-zero refrigerator/freezer.

The sleeping area has a queen size bed & nightstands that is adjacent to the bathroom & living area with a wood-burning fireplace/stove insert (fireplace closed approx. May 1st - Nov. 1st due to fire danger season). There is a comfortable reclining love seat with a center console, a work desk with an ethernet cord, Wifi, mousepad & a floor lamp. The house also has a wall-mounted 43” LG smart TV w/ Dish satellite, Wifi, and pull-down window blinds for all lower windows - just not for the upper large cathedral-shaped windows.

The Rinnai liquid propane heater will make the house toasty warm in minutes. New quiet Frigidare portable air conditioner unit with thermostat control and sleep setting to keep the house cool during hot weather.

The driveway entrance has several reflectors coming up the main driveway, and then there is a lot of outdoor lighting along the driveway to the guest house and in the parking area next to the house; there are also outdoor motion lights on two sides of the house, hanging patio lighting, and a front porch light.

Free on-site parking right up to the house front door walkway with no stairs. Private vehicle, taxi, Uber, or Lyft required to get around this rural subdivision neighborhood as it is 3.2 miles to N. State St. in Ukiah, and the narrow winding 2-lane road is not good for bicycling or walking.
There's a separate sitting area just below the front of the house with a graveled pathway to relax & enjoy the views, and trail below leads to walking trails.

Other things to note
Airbnb operator, Chris, lives on the property; he gives guests their space, but is available when needed.

The house location is a 6-minute drive to N. State St. in Ukiah to access nearby Raley's grocery store & other markets including Costco, nearby local Forks Ranch Market, and Woodys Wash & Dry Laundromat in Raley's Shopping Center is 7 min. drive. Note: Orr Springs Road traveling west to the coast is not a two-lane highway, rather a two-lane paved road for adventurists.
