After debating as to whether to roll down the window in the pitch black we slightly rolled down the window and they were requested that we not Park in their driveway. They indicated that this was their residence. Having been told to pick up the keys and it being 10 at night I entered the front steps at which point the gentleman pointed out the private property sign and indicated that that was his home. We attempted repeatedly over the next two days to contact the property be contacted Expedia and immediately however we have been unable to resolve the issues. Needless to say we did not check in."

"Nothing comes closer to perfect than Jen's place."

Forest Suite is located just a few minutes south from the village of Mendocino on 5 acres of beautiful redwoods. This 550 sq. ft. apartment plus 200sq ft deck, is upstairs from my 2,000 sq. ft artist’s studio, which is not in use when guests are staying. Built entirely with redwood, recycled fir and barn wood with cement counters and shower this romantic getaway is a very special spot.

The south wall is all windows facing the deck with deck chairs and a table with two chairs for dining overlooking the surrounding towering redwiids. It’s very peaceful and sunny and is frequented by honeymooners, artists, writers and those seeking total privacy. A few books and screenplays have been written here!

There is an eclectic book and DVD library to enjoy, internet, Direct TV and some boardgames. For your comfort there is a cozy gas fireplace, a ceiling fan, a standing fan and removable window screens in the hall closet. The kitchen is fully stocked and there are also yoga mats and weights for your use.

Take a walk through the forest; you will see a TRAIL sign by the driveway which will take you through the property and out onto Gordon Lane for a longer walk. There is a bench along the trail and also a deck in the trees for yoga or meditation, or just relax at the Suite and enjoy the tranquility.

The cabin includes many special touches such as open beamed ceilings milled with local redwood. The cabin has tons of natural light. A gas stove provides cozy heat and ambiance with the push of a button. There are also electric heaters in the bedroom and bathroom for additional warmth.

Enjoy a hot outdoor shower for two, an indoor claw foot bathtub and a compact yet full kitchen. The bedroom is outfitted with a Queen bed. There is also a twin bed which is perfect for kids. The bedroom is situated on the upper floor with treetop and sky views. The bathroom and main living area is below and opens to redwood deck with outdoor seating. Jackson State Forest is our next door neighbor. There is a trail that leads from the property into the forest and we will leave you a map. Located ten minutes north of Mendocino and ten minutes south of Fort Bragg and five minutes from what we think is the best beach in the area.

The Village Bungalow is a spacious second story one plus bedroom Flat with village views and some ocean peeks. The home is open and bright with many large windows. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed and a full sized bed. The full sized bed is in a nook off to the side of the master bedroom, with barn doors to close off the space. The third bed is a queen, it is in a nook off the living room it also has barn doors for privacy. The location is close to shops, grocery stores and restaurants. if you have forgotten anything the grocery store is a 2 minute walk away. The flat is above a hair solon and a copy shop. The space has beautiful hard wood floors and a new rustic bathroom in the master bedroom.

- "Beautiful home with open floor plan that was perfect for almost 3 toddler. House had quality decor and furniture similar to a luxury hotel. With to die for beds and bedding. Backyard backed up to trails but still enclosed so little one could play safely. Found the kitchen comfortable with nice pots and pans. The half bath is located next to laundry room on opposite side of house from the 2 bedrooms. Complimentary soaps etc. Walkable neighborhood with ocean views. Would stay again."

- "Cute, rustic property with unique but tasteful layout and decor. It is a beautiful and relaxing place. We will return." - "Our family really enjoyed our stay at the Headlands View Home. This home is not on the water, but it was perfect for us because we have a toddler. We wanted room for her to run safely and not have to worry about the oceanside cliffs. You have an unobstructed view to the North of the ocean, prairies of the Mendocino Headlands SP, and Point Cabrillo lighthouse in the distance. At this location you're walking distance (even with a toddler) to downtown, Point Mendocino trail, and Portuguese Beach. The home was everything we needed it to be and everything worked as it should. It's a cozy place that we were happy to come back to at the end of a long day exploring. This is a historic home (built in 1881 according to the plaque), so it has some historic home traits. Like most homes of it's age, it has had additions that don't necessarily "flow". There are essentially 2 halves of this house. The South side of the house is the original house and has a large living area with a wood fireplace, fully-stocked kitchen, a private bedroom, and a finished attic with a queen bed on one side and 2 twin beads on the other. From the kitchen, you take 2 steps down and the first bathroom is on your left, and the laundry room is directly in front of you. The laundry room is a pass-through to the North half of the house. This side has a full bathroom, a dorm kitchen (sink & mini fridge), a living room with a gas fireplace, and a loft with a large bed. Beyond our initial walkthrough, we kept the door to this half of the house shut because we didn't want to worry about our toddler going up and down the stairs to the loft. The view from the living area was spectacular though. Finally, the house has a large yard with plenty of area for kids to play and explore. There is a scrub pine in the front yard that our toddler loved climbing on. Overall, we were very happy with our stay!"

Some guests could easily watch TV or play games in one living area while others read, listen to music, or reminisce in the other living area. The upstairs cottage bedroom has a built-in desk and two rocking chairs that look out over Mendocino Headlands State Park, providing additional spaces to read, talk, doze, or quietly reflect.

The fully equipped kitchen has everything you will need to cook up many satisfying meals. Fourteen people can eat together using the kitchen table with leaf extensions and an adjoining bar. If you prefer cooking outdoors, just head to the back deck and turn on the gas grill.

Headlands View Home & Cottage provides a wide variety of sleeping accommodations and can sleep up to 14 people altogether. Note that most bedrooms are actually open lofts. The home’s north wing has a queen-size bed in an open loft and a double sleeper sofa downstairs, complete with a comfy memory foam mattress. Next to the kitchen is a small bedroom with a double bed. Head upstairs to find two open lofts, one with a queen bed and the other with two twin beds. The cottage has a queen sleeper sofa downstairs, complete with a comfy memory foam mattress. A spiral staircase leads to a beautiful loft upstairs with a queen bed.

- "A beautiful bouquet of flowers with a welcome note and house instructions greeted us when my husband and I arrived at the lovely rental. Stylish décor graced the spacious rooms that included comfy reading chairs, heartwarming fireplaces, and plush beds. The house glowed from being freshly painted inside. So nice to be in a rental that was immaculately clean, from dust free furniture and baseboard moldings, to sparkling counters, sinks and hardwood floors. Loved the brand new cushy wool carpet on the interior stairs and second floor. We chose the large upstairs master suite that had a bathtub and shower stall, as well as two walk-in closets. The well stocked new kitchen was fabulous to cook in. We were impressed by how nicely utensils, pans and dishes, etc., were organized in the drawers and cupboards. It was clear much attention was given to detail. Lisa, the house owner and well deserving of her ‘premier host’ designation, was a delight to interact with. She was quick to answer questions and address any needs we had. We were very impressed! We highly recommend this rental, located in a beautiful peaceful setting with magnificent sunsets and serenely colored early morning skies. Our landscape included the ocean on the horizon, towering pines and a woodsy spacious meadow, visited by wildlife. This cabin is located on one of Mendocino's most beautiful properties, ten minutes to the coastal town of Mendocino and on 12 acres of giant redwoods and open meadows. *Review note: We make sure to give FULL privacy if we are in the main house. Because it is 12 acres you will likely not even see us. We had an engagement party with 8 guests once and a 4 yo child of a guest found the magical cabin in the woods unlocked by guest and went in! We will NEVER have a little party again when guests stay

Cute tiny cabin in the woods. Located adjacent to the owners residence, but well screened for privacy. The 140 square foot tiny cabin offers a full sized bed, half bath and outdoor shower. The property is conveniently located between Mendocino and Fort Bragg about two miles from the ocean and directly adjacent to Jackson State Forest. A perfect place to unwind and explore the coast and forest.

Tiny cabin comes equipped with a microwave, mini fridge, and a coffee maker. There is a private outdoor shower. The cabin is well screened from the owners residence, but the path to the cabin does pass in front of the house.

This ocean view studio with south and west facing decks, is in a very peaceful, low traffic area while being only steps from the center of town, Mendocino Headlands, beaches, tide pooling, groceries and restaurants. Whale watch from your window seat. Quick and easy access to HWY 1 for day trips to the lighthouse, coastal trails, wine tasting, kayaking, bike trails and so much more.

This light and airy studio has a queen size bed with down comforter and pillows along with alternative down pillow, neck rolls and body pillow. Door hanging rack with hangers as well as shelf space for clothing and full length mirror in the bathroom. Dinnerware and utensils for 4, along with air fryer, microwave, two burner convection cook top, pots and pans, coffeemaker as well as French Press, blender and mini fridge. The built in desk and chair provide a good work space with an ocean view. From the window seat, you may see whales going by with the naked eye, though we do provide binoculars. Apron, beach towel and cushions for the outdoor chairs are just inside the door. Also a foam roller and exercise mat for your use.

Parking on the far south side front of the garage and walkway to the studio unit above the garage. Upstairs space and decks are for your exclusive use.

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. This delightfully crafted redwood house is situated on the edge of a large grassy meadow. With large glass windows, and decks on two sides, it feels close to the outdoors. Often sunny when the rest of the coast is in fog.

Jackson Demonstration State Forest is walking distance up the road, and has hiking and biking trails.

The space
The high ceiling in the living room give this small house a spacious feel. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking in if you like to do that. The mood chandelier can give your dinner a nice glow!

This is on a country road, single wide in some places. Please be courteous to other drivers by pulling over where there is space, to allow those traveling in the opposite direction to pass.

Drive slowly - there may be people, kids, pets or wildlife on the road!

Just outside relax in some Adirondack chairs while you enjoy an evening fire (when the season permits).
Just 50 ft away is the outdoor shower and bath with hot and cold water. A limited kitchen space with a sink and a small bbq grill, and hot plate and griddle.

You’re conveniently located within walking distance of the town of Mendocino and Big River Beach

Peaceful, cozy, bright Caspar studio…with distant ocean views and walking distance to Jughandle beach and trails, as well as the Caspar pub and community center. Bike to world class mountain biking trails. Enjoy the easy quick 5-8 minute drive to Fort Bragg or Mendo. There’s a shared house on the property that can also be booked. Other features: wifi, small kitchenette with apartment size fridge, electric burner, essentials, outside seating area, private yard, parking on property. Sorry no pets.

The space
This one room, cozy cabin has a queen bed, love seat and small dining room table. 2 steps down from this room into a small kitchenette with an apartment size fridge, 2 burner electric stove, microwave and toaster over. There are dishes, utensils and cups. Bathroom with tub and shower. There’s an outside seating area and table for when the weather is nice.

The whole cabin and outside space. It’s separated by a gate and fence from other rental.

Heat is electric atm. Please keep under max so it doesn’t trip the breaker. If it does, it’s an easy fix, panel is in the closet near the floor in the right side. Just open box and turn the switch off then back on, making sure to push it back into place so it clicks. And please turn heat off anytime you leave.

Please note: most of Mendo County is country. Although we love the Four Seasons, this isn’t it. We have critters, wells, septic tanks, power outages, spotty phone service and the occasional pothole or gopher hole.
While we try to make your stay as comfortable as possible, please be prepared for the country.
