Forest Suite is located just a few minutes south from the village of Mendocino on 5 acres of beautiful redwoods. This 550 sq. ft. apartment plus 200sq ft deck, is upstairs from my 2,000 sq. ft artist’s studio, which is not in use when guests are staying. Built entirely with redwood, recycled fir and barn wood with cement counters and shower this romantic getaway is a very special spot.

The south wall is all windows facing the deck with deck chairs and a table with two chairs for dining overlooking the surrounding towering redwiids. It’s very peaceful and sunny and is frequented by honeymooners, artists, writers and those seeking total privacy. A few books and screenplays have been written here!

There is an eclectic book and DVD library to enjoy, internet, Direct TV and some boardgames. For your comfort there is a cozy gas fireplace, a ceiling fan, a standing fan and removable window screens in the hall closet. The kitchen is fully stocked and there are also yoga mats and weights for your use.

Take a walk through the forest; you will see a TRAIL sign by the driveway which will take you through the property and out onto Gordon Lane for a longer walk. There is a bench along the trail and also a deck in the trees for yoga or meditation, or just relax at the Suite and enjoy the tranquility.

A personal vehicle is totally necessary in this area. No public transportation worthy of the name!

We have most everything you might need for a simple meal. Simple amenities include organic instant oatmeal, coffee and tea.

There is no land line telephone here but cell phone reception is great.

Street parking is free and does not require any meters or permits.

Walking is the best way to get around. Bring comfortable walking shoes and discover the amazing details of this historic town!

The property manager, Ann, brought us a press which was just ok. This bright and beautiful custom home has plenty of comfortable space to make yourself at home, spread out, unwind, gather with friends and family, or have a romantic getaway.

The “dance studio” as it is known was originally just that, an expansive and beautiful studio built for dancers. It was then converted into artist studios and has since been renovated into a spacious home with high ceilings, lots of natural light, and hardwood floors throughout.

The Space~
-Pet friendly- please make sure they’re on the reservation when you book.
-Private area and yard. You’ll have the space to yourself.
-There is one extra large bedroom which has an extremely comfortable four post queen size bed. There is also a couch which folds into a single bed in the bedroom.

- The bedroom is open to its own private sunroom/ smaller living room area. Beautiful custom made French doors that connect the bedroom and sunroom to the rest of the house.
-The sunroom area is a daybed which one can use to relax and read while basking in the natural light.
-The living room is expansive. With TV and board games
- We have provided a desk with a lamp and a few office supplies should you need a work space
- Extra comfy double size futon which converts into a bed sleeps 2
-The kitchen is stocked with water filter, cooking supplies, and coffee making supplies such as Keurig with, an espresso maker, a coffee grinder,

-There is ample parking, space for RV, and turnaround space.
-There is a nice outdoor area where friends and family can gather and eat at the picnic table or play bocce ball.

- "Beautiful location half mile from the ocean. The gardens are spectacular. No need to drive anywhere unless you want to! Definitely will stay again." - "When booking I didn't realize this space was situated within the Mendocino Art Center. Hence the "rewarding" experience. My husband and I loved being in the energies of creative processes. If it sounds busy, might be loud (?), it only felt alive, even in the silence of the days when we were the only people on the grounds. We came for nature and food, but were gifted so much more. Additionally, we ended up staying in Unit 6, a very spacious apartment with enormous windows in every room opening to views of the ocean, headlands and sky! The apartment was super clean, very comfortable and tasteful. And our host, Daphne, was generous, attentive and kind. She gave us all kinds of detailed tips for hikes and restaurants. All of them worthy! If you're not needing a silent, private retreat 100% of the time, this is a GREAT place to stay to relax and take in the magic of Mendocino. We would love to return."

- "We absolutely loved staying here! It was the perfect little place for our long weekend to Northern Cali! Place was clean, hostess was kind and helpful, grounds were breathtaking!!! " - "Almost impossible to locate initially. The directions were way too complicated, though I understood them after we got there. GPS took us one way. Directions to us another way. The strip of studios was hidden in plain sight. Plus, not the property’s fault: A huge event was being set up in the lawn right outside our property so parking was virtually impossible. There were no photographs of the outside of the property on the VRBO site, so we had no clue what we were looking for. Garden studio? Garden… There is a garden outside… These studios are visually in terrible repair from the outside. The iron patio bench outside our door was uncomfortable in the extreme, and probably lead based paint was flaking off it as we sat on it. The outside light was inoperable. Inside was comfortable enough, I guess. I mean it wasn’t like we were cooking for a group of people so the coffee pot worked, the microwave worked, the toaster worked, but not all at the same time as we have to unplug and re-plug whatever device we were choosing to use at any given moment. But the property was convenient for what we wanted to do, which was to attend the Mendocino Film Festival and we were successful in that and had a comfortable enough place to crash each of our two nights. It was clean. Bed is comfortable. Bathroom teeny but big enough. Shower adequate. Would we stay there again? Possibly. I think it was pricey for what it was but that’s Mendocino. Fit into the rustic Mendocino vibe. Any fancier…?"
