It's always clean, you can find everything you need to cook, and this house's location is just a 1m walk from the ocean." - "The property is located within walking distance of a couple of established restuarants, the lighthouse located on Point Delgado, and also tide pools that are exposed at low tides for viewing of wildlife. We were visited by local deer herds multiple times during daylight hours. Our stay was primarily our annual fishing trip for coastal rock fishing. Our boat broke down on day 2 of 6, so we spent the time visiting local areas we never spent much time with before, and took drives to some remote areas such as Whitehorne and the Mattole River. The house was completely stocked as mentioned in the adds, Allessandra was accurate in her photos. The one thing that we brought along that came in handy was a folding table for the lower deck patio which allowed us to eat outside. The internet is ok, sometimes a little slow, but the location is great for cellular coverage on most providers."

- "Would stay again" - "Wife and I needed a break from our 70-hour work weeks, and this place looked like just what we needed. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and the ammenities really impressed us. We normally bring all our own cooking utensils because rarely are rental kitchens very well stocked, but this cabin had everything from pot holders to pots and pans and baking sheets to a slow cooker to flatware and dishes...and even some basic seasonings! Ditto with the bathroom and its offerings of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash—and not those tiny sad hotel bottles. The atmosphere was lovely. Totally quiet. Even when some people were up the street playing pickle ball, the sound wasn't at all intrusive. There's a fire pit outside (a fox tried to steal one of the duraflame logs we brought, ha!), and there's a nature trail you can walk right next door. There are no neighbors, so you have the area to yourself. No cell service, but the wi-fi worked great. We randomly lost power but it was only off for about 20 minutes. (Thanks, PG&E...) We spoke with Angie and she was super friendly and polite. I hope she will welcome us back, because this is a place we'd love to visit again!"

The “Blue Pelican” is 2 story home located on the hillside right above Shelter Cove with just a short 5 minute walk to the beach. You will enjoy spectacular ocean, sunset, and whale watching views from every room.
On the first level, is the main living room that opens to the wrap around deck, kitchen, laundry, bath, and large garage. The house has a large screen smart TV, internet, and a warming and cozy gas fireplace. There is a full sized kitchen, including a full size refrigerator, dishwasher, and gas stove.
A short stairway takes you up to the second level where you will find two main bedrooms, both elegantly furnished with king sized beds and a full sized bathroom with a tub/shower. In the oversized closets, you can also find multiple single beds that can be pulled out and capable of sleeping 4 more guests.

Visitors enjoy the local surf spots, lighthouse, tide poles, black sands beach, fishing, hiking, a nine hole golf course, and simply relaxing inthe peaceful and quiet communityof Shelter Cove. There are multiple dining options and a local bar. There is also a small airstrip, capable landing small jets.

If the stay is longer than 1 week, there will be an additional $100 mandatory cleaning visit after 7 days.

This home sits in the heart of Shelter Cove, a tiny community on the remote and wild Lost Coast of Humboldt County. As the southern terminus of the Lost Coast Trail, Shelter Cove is a wonderful retreat for backpackers before or after their journey through the King Range National Conservation Area. You'll be only half a mile from the Cove beach where you can play in the sand and splash in the waves. The house is just three-quarters of a mile from the Cape Mendocino Lighthouse at Shelter Cove. There is a staircase from the lighthouse that leads you to a great beach to look tide pools and watch the seals. The home is just a mile and a half from Black Sands Beach. Black Sands Beach is the southern end of the Lost Coast trail as well as an amazing place to watch the sunsets.


Begin each morning with coffee outside on the deck, breathing in the salty sea air and watching for passing whale spouts on the horizon. Inside, you'll find everything you need to prepare breakfast in the kitchen, including full-sized appliances and a breakfast bar.

This ground floor guest suite is the perfect beachside getaway. The apartment features it's own entrance, a private bathroom, and a quiet bedroom. The open floor plan makes the space feel light and breezy and allows for sweeping views of the ocean and trees surrounding the property. The suite is stocked with fluffy white towels, comfy furniture, and an in-unit washer/dryer for your convenience. The full-sized kitchen is the perfect place to slow down and cook a meal together and the fridge & microwave are available for all your leftover goodies.

Other things to note
It's worth noting, that Shelter Cove and the majority of the Lost Coast is very remote. While our town has a grocery store, a few restaurants, and a gas station - this is a place to visit for our nature & isolation. Especially during the pandemic & winter, our businesses have limited hours and may be closed during your stay. While we are "only" 20 miles from Hwy 101, it takes a good 45 minutes - an hour to drive the winding road into the Cove. While the drive is safe, it can be intimidating to drivers who are not accustomed to mountain travel. We are a lot of wonderful things that our residents love, but we are not convenient to visit and we have terrible cell reception.

Our hotel is in a remote location, so please be aware of the long, windy drive if you aren't flying in. There are spots along the way through the mountains with no cell service, and at night it can be quite dark. If driving to our hotel, we suggest making the trip during daylight hours.

Due to the location being rural, food choices are limited and businesses aren't open as late as your typical city.

A private hill-top home nestled in the evergreen mountains overlooking the wide sloping valley and sparkling Pacific Ocean. This home has two stories of ocean-facing deck space beckoning you into the fresh coastal air. Bring your first cup of coffee outside to the balcony just off of the kitchen. At sunset, grab a blanket and your beverage of choice and sit out on the patio to watch natures showcase. Blissfully secluded and gorgeously situated, this is a place for truly unwinding.

The space
This two-story home is tucked up in the hills above Shelter Cove, a tiny oceanside community that sits within the King Range National Conservation Area. The home is an 1/8 of a mile from the Shelter Cove General Store and Gift Shop, where you can find everything you need from dinner items, to fishing gear and local handmade gifts, as well as gas. Black Sands Beach is just a 2 mile drive acting as the southern trailhead to the Lost Coast. In town, you will also find a few local coffee shops, restaurants, a brewery, and an art gallery.

This two-story home has its main living quarters in the first floor, along with the second bedroom. Then you go up a hand-crafted spiral staircase to the upstairs master bedroom. The master bedroom has an open floor plan with its own balcony overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The upstairs has a queen-sized bed as well as a full-sized trundle bed. There is a Jacuzzi tub that overlooks the ocean and a walk in shower equipped with two shower heads. There is also a workspace area if needed.

A comfortable, well-located, unbreakable old-school airbnb. 1-story house w/5 beds sleeping 2 each, large living room, kid area, 40' deck w/ocean view. 5-min drive to beaches. Wi-fi. Old redwood deck. Lived in by host part-time. Fully equipped kitchen, fridge & range. Quality beds, dressers, closets & big dining table for 10. End of road privacy. 2 of 4 bedrooms are detached from house-very private. Say why you're visiting to ensure a good fit. Please read entire description.

The space
Not the Hilton but you can relax and not worry about breaking something in my ocean home! Aristotle's Retreat w/high speed WiFi Internet. 1/2 acre lot allows room to spread out with privacy. Two of the four bedrooms are detached (and very private) though just a few seconds walk from the house and its facilities. 1/4 mile downhill to the Pacific and 1 mi. drive to main beaches! Incredible ocean view faces West for sunset every night. Ocean sounds to rock you to sleep. Perfect for personal rejuvenation, king range hikers, board retreats. Lots of private sleeping space including: 4 private bedrooms featuring a king, 2 queens, a full size bed and an extra queen sofa/futon in living room, w/ two full but small bathrooms. Plenty of blankets, pillows and clean linen and towels. Gas heat in main house. Living/great room is 20' x 35' with attached full kitchen on one wall, vaulted ceilings with with large dining table that seats 10. Extra single mattresses stored in the garage. It's also perfect as a solitary retreat or romantic getaway.

It is 1/4 mile walk downhill to the Ocean or drive 1 mile to trail heads at magnificent Shelter Cove Beach to the south where the surfers and loungers gather or Black Sands Beach to the north at trail's end for King Range. There is ocean fishing and a free 9 hole golf-course.

Fully equipped kitchen with all appliances, plates, glasses, utensils, pots, pans, coffee machine, 4-slice toaster, toaster over, blender, can opener, coffee grinder, microwave, etc. We provide coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, random herbs/spices, shampoo, soap & toilet paper. There is cul de sac privacy, room to turn your boat trailer around, and there's no traffic whizzing by. We have no TV/Cable reception; however, you can watch one of the hundreds of in-house DVDs and VHS's on our four flat screen TVs (two 55 inches, one 42 inch and one 32 inch) in the bedrooms and the living room, each with a dvd/vhs player and remote.

Neighborhood Overview: There are only 3 houses on our street and we are at the end. The neighbors are great but everyone in Humboldt appreciates and expects privacy. So we don't allow loud parties. Also, there are chickens two houses down. For that reason we want to be clear about parameters for any dog that may come and visit. Please list your dog when applying. No cats to keep it cat allergy free.

We have a landline for local or incoming calls only. We have restaurants, 2 coffee houses, a pizza shop, a deli with Fish and Chips. There is an incredibly well-stocked and reasonably priced General Store a mile and a half uphill.

Full disclosure: The house is 45 years old and not perfect.This is the original kind of airbnb--someone's home that you're invited you into--as opposed to a professional, no-one lives there place maintained by an outside agency. So while there is more than enough room for you, you'll still find some of my family's clothes in designated drawers and closet spaces, with some family ornaments and photos on the shelves. There are plenty of hangers, closet and drawer space for you. It's like staying at a friend's house without them there.

Everything is washed, counters wiped, floors vacuumed. But we don't use an iron, so towels, sheets, etc. can have creases. Towels pillow case colors, dishes, glassware & silverware don't always 100% match. But there are more than enough towels, dishes, utensils, and appliances, all clean and ready for you. The living room is spacious and the deck is large, even if an old redwood board might creak here or there.

Our reviews are good and the house is set up to allow you to feel comfortable. You can re-arrange any of our twenty or so pillows for your comfort; the same with the many fans we have--reposition them as you wish. There are many extra blankets. I use the black out curtains in all the rooms in the afternoon to keep the sun out while I'm outside in the summer, if it's hot.

And while there are two bedrooms are inside the house (with 2 sofa beds in the living room) two of the four bedrooms are detached--one a separate very nice enclosed room with a door in the garage and one in the "outbuilding." Both are clean, newer, and comfortable. Each is a 7-second walk to the main house. All beds are in good condition.

The fridge is large and is yours to use. I provide plenty of organic coffee and black tea. I keep the sugar in the fridge.

The bathtubs are not large and the faucets must be tapped gently to regulate our nice hot water.

You can access the entire house, but we ask that you not use the front garage door.

The neighbors are friendly but please do no interact as they prefer their privacy in this private part of the world. We are on good terms and plan to keep it that way by not parking in their area or bringing dogs in that might chase or kill their chickens.
