- "Would stay again" - "Wife and I needed a break from our 70-hour work weeks, and this place looked like just what we needed. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and the ammenities really impressed us. We normally bring all our own cooking utensils because rarely are rental kitchens very well stocked, but this cabin had everything from pot holders to pots and pans and baking sheets to a slow cooker to flatware and dishes...and even some basic seasonings! Ditto with the bathroom and its offerings of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash—and not those tiny sad hotel bottles. The atmosphere was lovely. Totally quiet. Even when some people were up the street playing pickle ball, the sound wasn't at all intrusive. There's a fire pit outside (a fox tried to steal one of the duraflame logs we brought, ha!), and there's a nature trail you can walk right next door. There are no neighbors, so you have the area to yourself. No cell service, but the wi-fi worked great. We randomly lost power but it was only off for about 20 minutes. (Thanks, PG&E...) We spoke with Angie and she was super friendly and polite. I hope she will welcome us back, because this is a place we'd love to visit again!"

- "Nice condo right on the beach. Loved watching the sea lions on the beach! The town is small and isolated. The drive in takes some time but is stunningly beautiful driving through the redwoods. Very peaceful there. Condo was clean and spacious. Nice location." - "This place is right on the ocean! Opening the sliding door to the deck and you instantly feel a sense of calm as the waves crashing on the beach fill your ears. Very peaceful. This place is off the beaten path so be prepared for curvy roads and single lane driving along the way. If this doesn't phase you then you will love it. Additionally, beach access can be a bit precarious so be careful. While the property is listed as pets allowed, they will attempt to charge you for additional cleaning if your pets shed. I was told they appreciate guests bringing shed free pets out of "respect for the property". To hear this after the fact was both frustrating and insulting. My dogs are my family and I did my best to mitigate any potential issues bringing them would cause. Had appropriate cleaning supplies been available and this expectation shared in the beginning I would have either been able to clean better or chosen another property to spend my money and time. This review is a representation of my own experience and does not represent others. It was a lovely place to relax."

The “Blue Pelican” is 2 story home located on the hillside right above Shelter Cove with just a short 5 minute walk to the beach. You will enjoy spectacular ocean, sunset, and whale watching views from every room.
On the first level, is the main living room that opens to the wrap around deck, kitchen, laundry, bath, and large garage. The house has a large screen smart TV, internet, and a warming and cozy gas fireplace. There is a full sized kitchen, including a full size refrigerator, dishwasher, and gas stove.
A short stairway takes you up to the second level where you will find two main bedrooms, both elegantly furnished with king sized beds and a full sized bathroom with a tub/shower. In the oversized closets, you can also find multiple single beds that can be pulled out and capable of sleeping 4 more guests.

Visitors enjoy the local surf spots, lighthouse, tide poles, black sands beach, fishing, hiking, a nine hole golf course, and simply relaxing inthe peaceful and quiet communityof Shelter Cove. There are multiple dining options and a local bar. There is also a small airstrip, capable landing small jets.

If the stay is longer than 1 week, there will be an additional $100 mandatory cleaning visit after 7 days.

You will have access to enjoy the entire suite & coastal views! Please note this is a hotel room, so the walls are shared with other guests co-located on the property.

The Neighborhood:
A hidden gem in Shelter Cove, our boutique hotel is as close as you can get to the coast. We're more populated by pines than people, so be sure to prepare for your relaxing experience properly. We do have wifi in each room, but please note that cell service can be unreliable in our area. There are a few delicious restaurants nearby and a great general store that has anything you'd want from a quick drink to a sizzling steak!

Getting Around:
Our hotel is in a remote location, so please be aware of the long, windy drive if you aren't flying in. There are spots along the way through the mountains with no cell service, and at night it can be quite dark. If driving to our hotel, we suggest making the trip during daylight hours.

Due to the location being rural, food choices are limited and businesses aren't open as late as your typical city.

Other Things to Note:
The Hot Tub is part of our outdoor amenities and is a shared space with other guests in the hotel.

Please ensure no sand/rocks are tracked into the room from feet. Additional cleaning fees will apply if any rocks or sand is found by our housekeepers in the drains or throughout room.

- "This condo is perched on the edge of a cliff with panoramic views of coastlines near & far. Rocky shore below has lots of picturesque outcroppings where waves crash, creating constant, beautiful background noise. Deer graze all around the property. The tiny Black Sands Cafe (breakfast, lunch) is a very short walk and has an ideal outdoor deck. Condo is well appointed with a large, comfortable couch, lots of pillows, a decent bed, and thick bathrobes for exiting the delightful hot tub. If u need anything, Simy is very responsive. The last 16 miles of the drive to Shelter Cove are very challenging: a narrow, winding, rutted & potholed road with sharp, blind turns and few signs warning of curves ahead, including at least 6 hairpin turns. (Pay attention to the speed limit.) I would not attempt it for the first time at night, so plan to arrive early. But it's well worth the trip!"
