- "This is just a beautiful, restful, old-fashioned and comfortable hotel, with tasteful touches and kind and helpful staff. I love everything about it. Check-in was great - front desk hosts are so welcoming, and offered suggestions for dinner - a list of restaurants close by that were open on our evening there. There is a complimentary wine tasting in the early evening. Guests can sit in the toasty living room and enjoy a drink with a warm fire burning. The bartender is just very special and was so fun to talk with. The morning breakfast is a REAL homemade meal. It is delicious and offered 3 specials of the day. There is coffee, along with a dozen fancy tea options, fresh fruit, vogurt, homemade pastries, various breads and juice. We had a wonderful breakfast omelet on an English muffin with cheese, asparagus and bacon. This came with the room! Our only cost was a tip for the server and chefs. ALSO - We have a hybrid/electric vehicle. There are two EV charging stations for guests. Very convenient. No extra charge to us for this service. 48 extra EV miles for our trip home. Beds are comfy, bathrooms include robes and luxurious towels. Located in charming Old Town Eureka, it's an easy walk to the heart of shopping, restaurants, the lovely water views and boats. A bit of a backstory. I made another reservation on VRBO and that other owner cancelled (shame on you Margo.). There I was at the last minute on graduation weekend with no where to stay. I'm not sure I even looked at the pictures of this absolute gem. Two bedrooms was all I cared about. It was certainly two bedrooms and so much more. Two full bathrooms with authentic fixtures. It's been a while since I've been anywhere with a clawfoot tub. The kitchen was stocked with muffins, granola and more. I really liked the chaise lounge for a rest. And the location was perfect- with a view of the water and sunset. The hosts were great about getting back to me. I would definitely stay here again."

This is a detached apartment to our 1907 Craftsman home. Located just a short (10-15 mins) walk to Old Town Eureka. We are also about a 20 minute walk to Henderson Center. We are a few blocks away from Brick and Fire, a lovely restaurant. We also have our own walking distance dive bar! There is a giant shared yard, but it is still very private. There is a separate entrance to the apartment. The apartment has wraparound windows and you are able to overlord the corner and people watch. I recommend you park on C Street because 14th is quite busy.

CAUTION! For those who have ambulation issues, there’s an entire flight of stairs to access the apartment.

The space
COVID-19 update: Our safety plan was approved by Humboldt County once they started allowing businesses to reopen in summer 2020. I have provided hand sanitizer, masks, sanitizer spray, and wipes for your safety. The apartment is detached and I have two different options to enter my house so please let me know if you feel uncomfortable with encountering us if we enter through the backdoor. We don't mind using our front door. If we do have a face-to-face encounter we are definitely going to be more than 6 feet apart. I'm also a clean and neat freak and follow a very strict protocol when it comes to cleaning. I also sanitize all shared surfaces especially light switches, door knobs, remote controls, etc. after every guest. We keep an air purifier in the apartment.

Living room has a smart TV, couch, and wall heater. An air conditioner is not necessary for this corner of the world. We have what I call natural AC.

There is a full kitchen with microwave, pots & pans, kitchenware, oil, spices, Brita, coffee, tea, French press, and hot water kettle.

Bedroom has all essentials and mattress is medium firm. So if you prefer a soft mattress, this may not be the place for you. Iron and ironing board.

Bathroom has all amenities - shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hair dryer.

Other things to note
Our dogs are barky when you come through the gate. We usually keep them in the house when new people come around. Ozzie, he’s not aggressive but will herd you. Meaning he will nudge your heel with his snout as he is a herding dog. Please let me know if you are uncomfortable with that. We try to keep him inside because his persistent barking is the most annoying part. He hates greetings. But if you are well-versed with guardy, herding dogs - he is a typical case. Our red heeler, Ruby, is only a pup (just turned 1 on 9/6/2022). She might come to your door for breakfast as she is used to having guest let her roam through the apartment. Don't feel obligated to let her in. We're good about calling her back if she's gone for too long from the house. Both are usually at work Mon-Fri off site.

- "Arrived to this little studio after an 8 hour drive. Easy to find, easy to get in. Privacy gate before the entrance was nice and made us feel more comfortable. The whole studio has beautiful plant life and art to enjoy and a bunch of natural light to wake up to. Property manager is wonderful and made us feel welcomed to the house and garden. We were greeted daily by their dogs who would "knock" on the door for treats and pets. Would highly recommend!"

It was great to hike all day and then come home to a relaxing house with a hot tub. The beds and furniture were so comfy, the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook full meals, and there are tons of restaurants in the area if you don't want to cook. It was nice to have access to laundry, and the record player was a nice touch! The Manager, Kat is friendly and available as needed. Though we were over 2000 miles from our house, we felt like we were home...we hope to come back again soon. Affordable and highly recommended!"

Make yourself at home in this cozy 2-bedroom Eureka retreat. This 1200 sq/ft upstairs apartment features a bright living room with plenty of comfort and room, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The master bedroom offers a queen bed and deskspace as well as large closets and a great view of the garden outside. The second bedroom has a full bed futon and a scenic view of surrounding redwood trees with big windows on half of the room, almost like a treehouse experience. Guest access and parking:

Please only use parking space #1 during your stay as we do host another rental on site. You may see others coming and going in the parking area. Please keep gates closed at all times when not loading/unloading.

If bringing a service animal or emotional support animal please keep in mind that there are requirements. A guest’s emotional support animal must not be:

Also please note, to conserve energy, we leave the heater off in between guests. The space warms up very quickly once turned on, just gently twist the round silver button on the wall thermostat and adjust to your comfort.

One more note that the property owners live on-site downstairs, the upstairs apartment is all yours and entirely separate.

Guests will have full access to entire home, except for a storage closet and shed out back. The backyard is fully fenced and private. There is a stackable washer/dryer unit available for guest use in the bathroom area. The driveway accommodates two vehicles comfortably.
Other things to note
-Pets are welcome for an extra fee. We have a 1 pet maximum. We may consider a second pet with more information. We do not allow pets on the furniture or bedding.
-We do not allow parties or gatherings of more than 4 adults.
-No smoking, or you will be fined.
-There is one exterior camera that points towards the fenced area of the backyard. We do not intend to invade your privacy, it is just for security measures.

Cozy little independent studio with safe offstreet parking. Parking area and property is shared with the main house, but there is lots of privacy with a large covered porch that looks out over a veggie garden. Basic amenities provided so that you can focus on experiencing the great outdoors in the nearby state and national parks or any of the other local sightseeing opportunities. It is a very cozy space best suited for a couple or single guest. Or travel with a pet - fully fenced yard provided.
