We LOVED our stay at the Aleo which is just next door and connected to The Shepard. We felt like we were in an extension of the beautiful art gallery which is within a former church, Every room was so thoughtfully designed and contained multiple pieces of art. The bedroom we stayed in had a view of the sculptures on the property and a very nice deck. The king sized bed was so comfy with crisp linen sheets. We had access to sitting rooms, full use of the kitchen, complimentary snacks and drinks (liquor was on an honor system basis). The grounds contained multiple sitting areas. We definitely intend to return when the weather warms up to further explore the nearby area and revisit The Shepard. Aleo will be a perfect homebase given the proximity to The Dequindre Cut bike path which takes you right down to the Riverwalk."

So old that the elevator inside is the type that you have to manually pull the door to open/close it. The floors are old and wooden and very creaky. Once we made it into the apartment though, it was clean and comfortable feeling, so we easily relaxed and settled into it. We could hear music from other units, but it was New Year's Eve, so we just paid it no mind and turned on music of our own. After a couple of hours I received a text message from the property management telling me that they've received several complaints about the volume of the music from our unit and that they would be contacting the authorities to have me removed from the property if I didn't turn it down. Wait...what!?!? This was the first I had even been made aware that the music was a problem, and you're already threatening to have me removed??? I turned the music down immediately after seeing the text, same as I would have done had they just requested that I turn it down (without the threat), but I was so turned off by this lack of tact and immediate escalation of an easily resolvable issue that I would never want to deal with them again. This newly renovated attic turned 1 bedroom apartment is perfect for comfort and privacy. After a day of exploring arrive back to this space with the security and freedom of free gated parking and your own private entrance.

With wifi, a bluetooth speaker, smart TV, carpeted flooring and plenty of sleeping/lounging options, your relaxation starts here.

The space
Private entrance and gated parking. Just minutes from a never ending world of food, music, and unmatched Detroit art and culture. Not to mention Eastern Market (endless vendors), Dequindre Cut (bike/walk trail), and Bell Isle park to soak up all that nature has to offer with beautiful scenic views right off of the Detroit River.

This is a newly renovated attic turned 1 bedroom apartment with a bathroom, kitchen, living room and additional lounging space. Everything is brand new. It has slanted ceilings and recessed lighting. The space is very cozy and well insulated from outside noise. The kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom are all small but clean and functional. The stove is compact (smaller than your standard stove and oven) but brand new.

In the summer months it does get hot but there are plenty of fans and two window A/C units to keep things comfortable.

1 - No unregistered guests, parties, or rough housing
2 - No smoking indoors
3 - Shoes must be removed upon entry

5 - Non-stick cookware should be handled with plastic utensils only
6 - No excessively loud music, yelling, or stomping
7 - Window A/C units must be turned off if leaving for most of the day
8 - Please use fan mode instead of cool mode if temperature outside is cool. Charges may incur if A/C use is deemed neglectful
9 - Be mindful of noise level when leaving and going
10 - All concerns/needs should be brought to host's attention directly before involving any 3rd party. All concerns will be handled with kindness and respect.
11 - $50 lost key fee
12 - Close and manually lock gate and doors upon entry and exit
