He answered the many, many questions I had before booking and was easily accessible throughout the entire process. We were blown away by the sheer size of the house. There was more than enough room for our group of 10 to spread out and relax comfortably, inside or outside. The bathrooms are spacious and well-lit, adding a touch of luxury. Anyone on a girl's trip knows how important lighting and mirror space is, and there is plenty! The AC works quickly, and the house is so quiet you don't have to worry about hearing other people in the house moving about. There were also more than enough bath towels, beach towels, plates, mugs, a nutribullet, and a Keurig. One of the standout features was the generously sized pantry, which made storing all our groceries easy and out of sight. The neighborhood felt incredibly safe and quiet. It was easy to get Ubers to and from, and a short drive to anywhere in central Austin. Also a short walk to a couple great coffee spots! Overall, this VRBO provided everything we needed for a memorable weekend. - "We visited Austin for the eclipse, and had a great stay. The house is very well equipped, with a functional kitchen (including a new air fryer not shown in the pics), a spacious back yard (the pictures are true, you get all that space to yourself!), a good shower (clean, strong flow, stocked with multiple good shampoos and soaps), and cozy beds. The murphy bed is actually a “full” size and comfortably sleeps two adults. We felt like we had plenty of space for two couples, and didn’t even use the third room with the single-person twin bed. The house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood very close to South Austin Neighborhood Park, and it was a pleasant walk to Lamar Blvd for dinner and 1st Street for brunch. It’s also close to downtown Austin, it was very cheap to get a rideshare to Zilker Park, 6th St, and other activities. Trish was a great host – she communicated promptly, provided good local recommendations, was very flexible, and left some thoughtful snacks for us to enjoy when we arrived. The house is accessed via door code which we did have to request via message, it was not automatically shown in the reservation system but was easy to use once we got it. Overall we had a great stay and would highly recommend this home, whether you’re looking for a convenient base for exploring Austin or want a pleasant spot to just relax for a night in."

The space
The apartment is peacefully tucked away amongst giant oak trees, providing beautiful shade on the small 12-unit property 🌳 a very unique stay and a feel of old Austin.

This space is quiet and minamalist—truly a sweet little refuge from the hustle of the city.

The front door opens into the living room. Directly off of the living room, immediately right of the front door is the entrance to your private bedroom. No need to move through many shared spaces in order to access your room.

Past the living room down the hallway are linen cupboards, dishes and glassware. All sheets and towels in the home are 100% cotton or linen for cozy natural comfort.

Across from the cupboards is the bathroom with a full tub/shower. The toilet has a heated-seat bidet attachment as well.

Body soap and towels are provided, and there is a hair dryer as well.

Past the bathroom is the kitchen with a full sized washer and dryer, oven, stove and fridge. There is no microwave in the apartment.

I live in the space when I’m not traveling, and part of the time, my 4 year old daughter, Luna inhabits the space as well.

We are true Austin hippies. We rock climb, hike, bike, swim, and are a part of the ecstatic dance and contact improv communities in Austin.

Luna is a sweet sensitive Aries baby who loves to dance and collect dead bugs (she’ll probably show you her collection if you ask).

We practice loving communication and are open to engaging with guests or offering more space—whatever is needed and desired by guests is fine by us :-)

The private bedroom has a full-sized bed. This space tends to be quiet and peaceful, and sound machines are available for those sensitive to noise.

UPDATE: this sunny bedroom now has curtains! Blocking a significant amount of morning sun for longer restful sleep-ins.

The living room features a large couch and Roku TV with Disney +, Netflix, Amazon Prime and Apple TV.

We also offer Mountain Valley spring water in a glass jug in the kitchen to avoid consuming tap water which you are welcome to enjoy.

The space
The house is nestled behind another home on the same lot. It does not sit on the street, so it is very quiet. If traveling with friends or family, both houses can be rented. The two houses share the outdoor space, except the pool! The pool area is a quiet area for the front house guests only. No loud stereos. It is surrounded by other homes and peoples bedrooms! We want all to enjoy the area peacefully. Please do not leave food or beverages outside! Thank you for understanding the rules!

Parking is free on the street and shared with the neighborhood. The driveway is reserved for the front house. Please use the driveway on the left to walk to this house to allow privacy to the front home.

Other things to note
PLEASE do not put anything into the toilets other than bodily waste and TP.. NO HAIR, feminine products, diapers, or thick paper of any kind. NO WIPES! The systems in the area do not handle anything other than bodily waste. Even if the wipes say this on the packaging!

-NO additional guests at any time. No events. Strongly Enforced. Ask if you want visitors in advance.

-House parties, and loud noises are not permitted on the property and will not be tolerated. Quiet hours after 9PM outdoors out of respect for our neighbors.

-Add all guests names to the reservation on the Airbnb App.

-No Pets. We love animals but they are not allowed to be guests!
-NO smoking inside OR OUTSIDE property.
-NO illegal substances.

-We do not accept mail or packages to be delivered for guests. If you are staying for an extended time then please reach out about arrangements. If both homes are rented it has been a very difficult issue. Please ask ahead to work this out, if possible.

The South Austin Cottage is located approximately 1 and a half miles south of downtown Austin. You will find many different restaurants, bars and music venues near the cottage. South Austin is a big part of what makes Austin known for its vibrant uniqueness.

The space
We are proud to annouce that our South Austin Cottage has received it's Short Term Rental License #103471 from the City of Austin as required as of Oct. 1, 2012 by the City's Code Compliance Dept.

This is a fully-furnished 1951 cottage with original wood floors in old South Austin. The kitchen is fully equipped. The bathroom is immaculate and newly remodeled. The beds have organic cotton sheets and allergen free mattress and pillow covers. There is a large shaded backyard and a covered porch to get away from the sun and enjoy a cool breeze.

There are plenty of restaurants and food trailers within walking distance. If you like listening to live music or shopping on S. Congress, S. 1st or S. Lamar, this is the perfect place for you. It is a short biking distance from Zilker Park and 1.5 miles to Town Lake. Restaurants/bars like Polvos, Jovitas, Freddie's Place, Habanero Mexican Cafe, G & S Lounge along with many coffee houses like the Green Muse Cafe and Fair Bean Coffee are less than a mile away. The Mercury Hall event center is also located less than a mile away. A bus stop is less than a block away if you need to venture out further.

This home is located in a cool neighborhood that is ideal for folks visiting Austin for SXSW, ACL or just hanging out in Austin.

The State of Texas and the City of Austin both assess occupancy taxes. The state tax of 6% of your total charge will be collected by Airbnb automatically as of 5/1/17. The City tax of 9% of your total charge will be collected by the host.
