- "Stayed in Alamo Guest House for two nights this week. From the moment we arrived until our departure they couldn’t have done more to make our stay more enjoyable. Location is central, well-connected by bus to the rail and bus stations, and very attractive (the breakfast room’s picture windows looks out over Kelvingrove Museum and tennis courts). Registration was at the time we’d requested, and time was taken to show us all the thoughtful little extras (a proper coffee machine, fresh milk, complimentary Tunnocks!) Our host Lucy was lovely - welcoming, courteous, friendly and always helpful; despite being on duty night and morning during our stay. The room itself (‘Harris’) was spotless, warm, quiet and looked out over a little courtyard garden. So well blacked-out at night that one of those little plug-in nightlights would’ve been useful for nocturnal trips to the bathroom. The bed was roomy/king size and supremely comfortable. And we really liked the blue tartan stair carpet. But more than anything else, what will bring us back will be the superb breakfasts - a big choice of hot and continental items to choose from, very generously portioned, freshly cooked to order and so tasty! - "Tucked away just off Queen Margaret Drive and opposite the Botanic Gardens, Embassy Suites offers a laid back and comfortable experience. Very good car parking (access via Clouston Street and Clouston Lane off the B808) and the room was more than adequate with an electric cooker (untried and it looked less than pristine) a microwave, a fridge etc. No DVD player and bring your own tea towels and kitchen rolls because you won't find any here. That said, it was very quiet with the only noise from other residents trying to find the squeakiest floorboards in the place, and in a couple of minutes you can be at Great Western Road and Oran Mor - the music / theatre venue, an in less than ten minutes you can be in Byres Road with Hillhead subway station and its shops, bars and restaurants and that West End ambience. Another fifteen minute walk and you can be at Kelvingrove and one of the worlds finest art galleries which is still free to get in. We usually stay in the city centre, but this will be our new home from home for future visits."
