SALTY DOG is a 2 bedroom 2 bath oceanfront home located just north of Gold Beach in Rogue Shores a small oceanfront community of about 30 homes 1 MILE WEST of the Highway 101 and away from traffic. Gold Beach is located about 30 miles north of the Oregon/California border on the world famous ROGUE RIVER. This open plan 2 bedroom home has all wood floors with a full west side glass wall and panoramic views of the coastline and ocean. The main floor is the second floor with the living room with wood burning fireplace, dining room, full bath and kitchen and full laundry. The bedroom has a queen bed and a twin. There is a futon in the living room.
The third floor is the master bedroom with a king bed and seating area and a bath. The house has WIFI, full cable TV, a large west side deck and a HOT TUB under the trees. There is a 2 car garage. We have our own path to the beach about 100 feet west of the home. Our beach is about 3 miles long and sandy with large off shore rocks and the Marine Mammal Reserve from the mouth of the ROGUE RIVER to the south and OTTER POINT to the north. The lights of Port Orford are visible at night to the north west and you can see the Cape Blanco lighthouse flash every 20 seconds. There are many Harbor seals, Sea Lions, sea otters and sea birds off shore and grey whales can be seen years round. Look for agates (semi precious stones) shells, driftwood and other interesting items or you can just enjoy a nearly empty beach and watch the waves and sunsets.

This is the closest to the beach I’ve seen in a rental property in a long time. House was well stocked with everything we needed and appreciated all the extra towels and blankets. I think I found someone who enjoys putting little notes around their house just as much as I do. Hahaha! The hot tub worked perfectly and was very private. Quiet neighborhood which we appreciated and the entire week we spent on the beach we only saw maybe three other families. Our only feedback would be we were thankful that our children are now a bit older but this property might be a bit difficult is having a small toddler. Not impossible by any means but you would have a lot of breakables to put up and corners to be aware of and stairs etc. We look forward to coming back again soon thank you so much again David!"

- "While the cabin was indeed small, we enjoyed the coziness most of the time. Only 3 soft seats and 4 of us, so we took turns! Kitchen was simple but we were able to cook spaghetti. Too many unnecessary "baking tools," like 2 rolling pins?! Couldn't find any rubber spatulas and cups were only 6 oz, so we had to improvise.The view of the 'Osprey Tree' was a constant enjoyment - more than 6 nests with babies, ready to launch at the end of June! Beds were not soft, but more firm... we slept well. There is a large RV park next to the cabin(s), so you drive or walk through it, daily. We loved the wildlife we saw daily, bird varieties, deer, and a cow; the river was a great place to walk along, as frontage was generous. Town is about 15 minutes away, so no worries about collecting something you forgot (or a 12 oz coffee mug)! Remember, there is no dishwasher or washing machine."

The Honeymoon Cove House (one of the family's original 1930s beach cottages was remodeled in 2010) provides an experience of complete isolation and scenic seclusion. This oceanfront home is situated 70 feet above the ocean and is set back 70 feet from high tide. One can view 9 miles of coastline without viewing anything man-made.
A gravel path leads through the forest from the parking area to the glass front door of the home. Upon entering, you will find an open floor plan with a vaulted open-beam ceiling and a wall of windows overlooking the deck, the Pacific Ocean, and most spectacularly- Arch Rock. The second-highest basalt sea stack located off the continental United States, Arch Rock, is just one unique piece of this beautiful setting. The arch is a well-known landmark on the Oregon Coast and can only be viewed from our private property.

This custom-built home has a private outdoor spa, a fully equipped kitchen, and granite shower in the bathroom. The spacious living room is nicely furnished with premium seating, hardwood floors, YouTube TV, satellite WiFi & more. Glass French doors open from the living area to the romantic bedroom furnished with a Queen bed, luxurious linens, and tasteful appointments. The unique floor plan includes an open staircase to the lofted sleeping space where an additional Queen bed and futon are located.

Byrdies Beach House is perched atop the hillside just 500 feet back from high tide with a private road to Crook Point beach and sea kayaking adventures. This comfortable 2 King bed/2 bath 1960s custom-built oceanfront home is beautifully designed with granite counter-tops and custom woodwork throughout. Our family updated the mid-century home in 2000. The second family room is appointed with two bunk beds (full on bottom, full on top.)

Base Occupancy is 6 guests, and the house can accommodate up to 10 guests. Please note we have a guest fee of $10 + tax per night per guest over the base occupancy. We are pet-friendly, so furry members are welcome for a non-refundable "per dog" fee.

- "Liked the property, hot tub, views" - "My wife had a conference in Portland and we decided to spend some extra time while in that part of the country. Rented a car in Portland and drove to the coast to Gold Beach. Randomly stopped on the drive down and 100 yards offshore a whale cow and calf were resting in a cove. We get to the house and it's everything and more ! It has everything and is laid out very nice. We sat in the hot tub, walked on the beach and explored the country side. Having such a great house with everything you need cuts the cost of your trip because you can cook some of your meals. One morning while cooking breakfast we saw Otters or Seals swimming in the surf. We went up and hiked some trails and ended up at Cougar Lane Lodge. Had the Pulled Pork Nachos and a burger and the food and waitress were awesome. We also ate at the Porthole in Gold Beach and watched the sunset. Food and service was excellent. This is a place we will go back and enjoy !"

Really nice kitchen and fridge we were able to cook meals comfortably. There was satellite tv for college football, a grill, very nice bathroom and shower. It was overall a great time. Loved the airstream as it was comfortable and cute with little touches of succulents here and there. The outdoor shower was also really nice, larger than my home shower, had great water pressure from the rain shower head, and has the same amazing ocean view if you want it. Neighborhood
Located about 8 miles north of Gold Beach in the Nesika Beach Area. Neighborhood is one of three beach houses built around the same time in the 1950's. Neighbors are longtime residents, accommodating of respectful guests and do let their dogs run around freely.

Beach Access
Beautiful wood boardwalk runs right next to house and leads you to one of Oregon's most amazing beaches. The boardwalk is private access shared with the two neighbors.

Parking
Plenty of parking for three vehicles. Guests must park along wooden fence. Any trailers or tow behinds must get prior approval.

Dog Friendly
Pet Rules: Dogs must have prior approval and guests must follow additional pet rules.
1. Your dogs must not be aggressive in any way. There are neighbor dogs that roam freely in the neighborhood.
2. Additional pet fee of $125 per stay.
3. Pets may not be left alone at house.
4. Pets are not allowed on any of the furniture.
5. Guests must pick up any pet messes outside before check out.
6. Pets must be secured at all times.
7. Neighbors do let their dogs roam around freely in the neighborhood and have been known to come onto property. We ask our guests to make allowances for their visits.

LOCATION
The home is located 8 miles north of Gold Beach in the Nesika Beach/Ophir area. Front of property is set along a county road. Large yard and line of trees set on the back of property. Dropping down from the line of trees is Hwy 101. Neighbors to the south are separated by a Lily Pond and neighbors to the north are separated by a large driveway.

WALK TO THE BEACH
It is only about a five minute walk to Nesika Beach. Walk includes about a block and a half walk along county road, walk down a narrow dirt path and crossing Hwy 101. Map provided at house. Please keep in mind that Hwy 101 can be busy in the summer while crossing and dirt path is not maintained and can be muddy/slippery in the winter. Beach is also just a short drive away.

Lands End guests must allow neighbors to access their designated beach path route.

Come and relax in this rural setting with nature abounding. A perfect retreat to celebrate an anniversary or just relax....
The space
A unique almost 1,000 square foot space in a 2-story barn. King bed in the bedroom. Queen sleeper sofa. Newer construction, new furnishings. Balcony patio. 2 smart televisions plus WIFI. Use your accounts to access Prime, Netflix or whichever you choose. Also a cell phone booster so that most cell phones will work in the unit. Huge shower with plenty of room for 2. A fairly well equipped kitchen area. There is no stove/oven but we do have a good size refrigerator with a bottom freezer, convection microwave, single burner counter top burner (thank you to one of our guests who bought it and left it), toaster oven, toaster, Instapot, Electric Skillet, Ninja blender which doubles as an ice crusher and a Keurig coffee maker with pods included. We will be adding additional items as we go. There is also a bonus loft area where there are two comfortable chairs and end table large enough to accommodate a chess/checker set.

This is an ongoing project and we will be adding amenities as time goes on but we have a good start. We want to take your suggestions as to what you would like to see included after you have stayed with us. We will appreciate the feedback.

Another item to note is that we are on a gravel road.

Additionally there are many hiking trails to utilize here on the south coast if you are coming for hiking. We have redwoods onsite but the Redwood Forest is only about a 45 minute drive away.

Be prepared to relax and enjoy or hike to your hearts content in this pristine area on the south coast of Oregon.

ITEMS TO NOTE-Due to a recent negative review on Airbnb, I need to re-iterate, this is a stay in a relatively new barn on a tree farm in the country. It is rural. There is wildlife and there are rodents. We make every effort to keep the unit and the balcony as clean as possible. We cannot, however, control the activities of the outdoor creatures nor the environment (ie salt spray, rodent droppings, wildlife droppings, rust, etc.). If we see it we address it if it is something that we can change. If we don't see a problem please let us know about it so that we can address it before you leave us a negative review.

We also have a 2nd unit that we generally keep for friends and family but we could make it available if you have a larger party and need and extra unit. They are exactly the same just mirror images and slightly different color schemes..

There is equipment on the ground outside of the barn. It is a working farm and a work in progress. If you are looking for a "city" stay this is not the place for you. If, however, you are looking for peace and quiet and enjoy being in the country then you are welcome to come stay.

If something does come up during your stay, PLEASE let us know about it so that we have the chance to remediate whatever the situation is. If we do not know about it we cannot fix it.

We are in a rural area and have wildlife that shows up periodically. If you are talking a walk we would recommend carrying a means of defense (i.e firearm or bear spray). Just beware that all animals are unpredictable. For this reason if you do have children we respectfully ask that you do not let them wander around outside alone.

This is no smoking property (that means weed too). We live in a fire sensitive area and must be aware of that especially during fire season. We ask you to be respectful of the property as if it were your own.

An additional note is that we are only about 2 miles north of the Crook Point wedding venue and are a good alternative if their housing units are full.

If you or your pet have damaged the unit, you may be charged for damages and labor.
We do not accept aggressive breeds or any animal larger than 18" from the ground to the shoulder unless proof of service animal is provided.
We ask that all animals be on a leash at all times outside the unit and must have droppings picked up by owner and disposed of properly.

The space
The open floor plan on the first floor has a wood stove, comfortable furniture, a flatscreen TV, a dining table, as well as a kitchen with all the essentials to prepare meals for everyone. There is even a dishwasher to make cleaning up a breeze. There are two bedrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. Bath with shower downstairs and a 1/2 bath upstairs. Beautifully decorated, this is a home away from home. The washer/dryer on-site will make things easier! This house is pet-friendly, ONE pet only.

Apartment 1 has been recently renovated with some nice touches. We are located at the mouth of the famous Rogue river where it meets the ocean. You have beautiful views of the river, one of the most beautiful bridges in Oregon and you are within a 5 minute walk to the beach.

The space
Each apartment has a full sized fridge and stove. There is a microwave for quick fixes and a coffee maker with flavored coffee grounds.
Take a walk up the street and as it crowns just a few feet away you will have a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. Take a 20 minute walk and you will experience the beach as well as the jetty and entrance to the famous Rogue River and walk riverside back to the house.
We are about 14 minutes to one of the most iconic picturesque beaches on the Oregon Coast at Meyers Creek, Cape Sebastian, Humbug mountain and much more.
Try Jerry’s Jet boat tours and eat lunch at Cougar lane up the Rogue.

You will find the Cape View Studio an exceptional getaway for your vacation. A perfect retreat with an open floor plan and breathtaking views from almost every room.

The space
The Cape View Studio is situated on 12 acres about 8 miles south of Gold Beach. It has a very comfy Queen-size bed, one and a half bath, open living of the living room and kitchen and a private deck. There is also a "Park" to the east of the studio for your enjoyment.

Other things to note
The studio is located above our detached garage which is used for storage, not our daily drivers. It will not be used while guests are staying.

There is not a conventional stove or oven but we do provide 2 counter top induction cookers, electric skillet, Instant Pot, microwave and a large convection oven.
