It was perfect. We were worried about being too loud for the neighbors, especially after realizing the owners were right next door, but it wasn't a problem. They were very nice and super welcoming to our group. Their dog, Max and their cat, Pearl were wonderful and visited us as well. Our questions were answered very timely. The kayaks were an amazing addition. It was a successful trip! We would definitely consider coming back again!"

- "Communication with our host was very good, we had plenty of room for our family and the house was very clean. " - "Our stay was a great time for the family to get together. We had plenty of room for everyone. 6 adaults, 2 children and a baby. Even though it was rainy and cloudy each day we were able to get outside most of the weekend. It was a great weekend for us. Thank you so much" - "Overall nice property and quiet. Was a little disappointed we couldn’t have a fire because they had pulled the dock and boat-lift out of the lake and it was too close to the fire pit to have a fire. Also was woken up multiple times late at night by what sounded like tannerite. It sounded so loud like it was next door and shook the house. This is at no fault of the owners, just a heads up if you come with littles who are lite sleepers. "

At the end of the day, kick-back by the lake in the Adirondack chairs, stoke a fire in the fire pit, and watch the sun fade from view - gold fades to orange, then crimson, then black, and the starry dance begins. And then you hear it – the hum of peace and tranquility...

Guest Reviews:

- "This place is beautiful. It had been remodeled and it was so very tastefully decorated, with top end appliances, no clutter, and had everything one would need. The beds were wonderful, sooo very comfortable, something you don't always find in a rental. The place was clean, spotless. It was all one level, with level walkout to the dock. The dock was great and easy to dock our boat, and we could see our boat clearly from both the kitchen/dining/living area and also the master bedroom. The boat landing is just down the road so that was very simple to launch our boat.. There is no beach or swimming at the shore, which wasn't an issue for us, but there are sandbars down the lake where alot of people were swimming. We enjoyed bonfires at night with plenty of firewood provided. We caught alot of fish, mostly panfish and bass, but saw some big muskies swirling. It was a very quiet neighborhood, which made it feel so private. It is a great place and we plan to come back. Thank you Laura and Jason!"

The Island is fully accessible by car via a short bridge. This property is the definition of seclusion! Be sure to read the entire description - there's so much to say about this property!

We call it 'The Island'.

It is a beautiful, 3-acre private island that is fully accessible by car via a short bridge. On the front crest of the island, we have 1,000 feet of western-facing lake frontage (endless sunsets!) and mile-long views across Spooner Lake (in Spooner, WI). On the back crest of the island, we have 1,000 feet of frontage on a beautiful 300+ acre Tamarack wetland. The island itself sits about 6-8 feet above the water and has over 200 large red pines, white pines, oaks, and maples. Under all the trees, most of the island is manicured lawn allowing you to peer down the entire length of the island and see the beautiful lake views through all the mature tree trunks.

The Island boasts an amazing in-ground, heated pool ($250 nightly charge from Labor Day to Memorial Day) amidst a beautifully landscaped 5,000SF lakeside patio, complete with two hot tubs, an outdoor kitchen, lakeside cabana & fireplace, stone sectional with a fire table and outdoor seating for 80+. Additionally, there is a 35’x65’ concrete sport court area to enjoy pickleball & basketball with dedicated tetherball and volleyball courts as well! Multiple fire pits, docks, paddle boards and kayaks - even a few disc golf baskets!

In the summer, we have 2 docks, 2 swim platforms, and 2 lily pads as well as kayaks, paddle boards, and a pontoon and two jet skis for rent. The lake bottom is sandy, with some river rock areas and the shoreline has a gradual grade; great for endless kid-play. Spooner Lake is a fully recreational lake boasting nearly 1,200 acres. It has multiple inhabited islands, a large community sand bar, and has some of the clearest water in northwestern Wisconsin. This property is the definition of seclusion - it is quite a spectacular, one-of-a-kind location!

The Island property has 13,000 square feet in total between all structures and is a fully remodeled/new construction facility with a Classy-Rustic Design. There are 4 buildings on The Island: The Main Lakehouse, the Clubhouse, the Cottage and the Bunkhouse/Pavilion. In total, it features 21 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, 3 full kitchens, 10 living rooms, and more. There are 18 king beds, 4 queens, and about 40 twins throughout the 21 bedrooms and 3 lofts. Every bedroom has either a king or a queen bed. Six bedrooms have adjoining bathrooms, including 4 private master suites. Additionally, 15 of the 21 bedrooms have at least 1 twin bed (some have as many as 6), either in a bunkbed or in a lofted area that is accessible via a ladder from within the bedroom.

While we don't prefer to max out our capacity, the Island can sleep over 80 people in over 60 beds. This 'over-bedding' allows great flexibility in sleeping arrangements for our larger groups. Because of the amazing views, we installed over 160 windows on the property and the lake views from inside are unparalleled!

The Lakehouse:
The Main Lakehouse is 8,000SF and has 15 king bedrooms and 10 baths. First floor is a fully open-concept design with spectacular 11-foot ceilings. It has a huge 26-foot-wide kitchen with a 13’ island, over 30’ of dining tables, a huge living room with a stone gas fireplace, a beautiful sunroom, and a large great room with crazy-beautiful sunset-facing lake views. The main floor also has 2 master suites, 2 additional bedrooms, and 2 additional bathrooms. On second floor you’ll find 11 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, including the main master suite with spectacular lake views.

The north and south wings of second floor can be closed off to become 4-bedroom/2-bath and 3-bedroom/3-bath suites. At the top of the stairwell on second floor, there is large 12’x20’ living room with a TV and seating for 4-8. There is an upper loft overlooking this living room that is a fun space for kids and also has 2 twin mattresses. Throughout the Main Lodge, there are several lofted areas for the kids to explore, have fun, and sleep. Some lofts have beds and some are simply creative places to play. In total, the Main Lodge at The Island has 15 king beds and 28 twin beds, sleeping nearly 60 people in all. Outside the Main Lodge is a large lakeside patio to enjoy the unparalleled (seriously!) views of the lake.

The Clubhouse:
The Clubhouse is a 3,000SF building for pure entertainment fun, including an 18-seat movie theatre, pool table, ping pong, foosball, shuffleboard, basketball, countless arcades and more! There is a full kitchen, a dining area, 4 living rooms, and a 12’ indoor/outdoor counter to the large outdoor pool deck. It also has 3 king bedrooms and two full bathrooms. There is an additional queen in a top bunk (over a king) and 3 more twins in a triple bunk. In all, the Clubhouse sleeps 11 people.

The Clubhouse is connected to the Main Lodge with a 20-foot-long mudroom. In total, the Main Lodge and Clubhouse are 11,000SF and over 200 feet in length. They sit parallel to the lakeshore to enjoy the beautiful sunset-facing views of Spooner Lake 24/7/365!

Pool & Hot Tub Oasis:
Between the Main Lodge and the Clubhouse sits the amazing 12’x14’ lakeside heated pool. It is surrounded by a massive 5,000SF paver patio featuring a huge outdoor sectional around a gas fire table, an outdoor kitchen with built-in grill and wood-burning pizza oven, dining tables for 50+ people and more. There are also two, 8–10 person hot tubs with seating at a 12’ countertop on either side of the hot tubs, and outdoor TV. ... Not to mention the 20'x20' poolside cabana that has seating for nearly 20, another TV and a beautiful stone fireplace. The cabana and all three of the main buildings are interconnected with a massive 10,000SF web of concrete sidewalks and patios.

The Cottage:
The Island also has a standalone 800SF, fully equipped Guest Cottage that has two additional bedrooms, both with 1 queen and a lofted twin, and an open loft with three additional twin beds. It has a brand-new kitchen complete with all standard appliances, a full bath, a washer/dryer, and charming living room with 15 windows to enjoy the beautiful lake views. The Cottage sits just 35 feet from the Main Lodge. In total, this quaint, fully remodeled cottage sleeps 9 people. It works perfectly for that family unit/group that prefers a bit of separation from the rest of the group, or simply as additional space for large groups.

The Bunkhouse & Pavilion:
On the southern end of the Island is a perfect 15’x18’ bunkhouse with an attached 22’x22’ outdoor pavilion. The bunkhouse is made of all windows and doubles as a sunroom. It boasts a queen couchbed and 4 twin beds in bunks as well as a TV and a great living room space to take in the best views on the property! The attached pavilion is perfect for outdoor entertainment. And just in front of the bunkhouse is a large firepit area for enjoying the nightlife at The Island - with unparalleled views!

Other Highlights:
The Calderwood Lodge also contains a great deal of history.
The Lodge was constructed by Charles Calder between 1918 and 1922. During these five years of construction, Calder used natural stone and lumber from the surrounding Bone Lake region to build the lodge. Calder grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he owned a successful van and storage business. Many of the profits from the van and storage business were reinvested into land along Bone Lake. By 1891, Calder acquired a total of 720 acres on the shore of Bone Lake. At the time, the land had an estimated value of $22,000.

Throughout the roaring twenties and up until the Great Depression, the lodge consisted of 14 rooms and 7 additional cabins. The wealthy came from all parts of the Midwest –Chicago, Milwaukee, Iowa, and the Twin Cities–to stay at the famous lodge. Guests arrived in Luck by train, where they were then chauffeured to the lodge. The lodge provided the wealthy guests with expensive dinners, reaching prices as high as $6 a plate (or $98 in 2018 dollars). Furthermore, the water in the springs contained high levels of lithium, which had high medicinal value during the 1920’s. Consequently, many customers arrived with large containers so that they could bring the water home with them.

Although the prohibition began in 1920, strong evidence suggests that the lodge continued to serve alcohol. The alcohol was hidden across the lake in concrete storage vaults. Boats transported the alcohol across the lake.

The lodge’s fabulous reputation caused the world’s most notorious gang members to visit it. In the late 1920’s, Al Capone frequently stayed at the lodge with different friends. John Dillinger and his gang also stayed at the lodge in the late 1920’s and early 1930’s. Dillinger’s gang would park their convoy of Ford Model T’s near the lake on a dirt road that now forms 240th Avenue. Additionally, gang leader Ma Barker and criminal Alvin Karpas were also known to have stopped in the lodge during their trips to Fremsted Lake in Webster, Wisconsin.

Guest Reviews:

- "We had a multi-family group of 15 people, ages 10-70. Everyone had a fantastic time. The gathering spaces in the lodge are tremendous, there is enough space to gather for fellowship or spread out for solitude. The lodge is conveniently located close to a resort with gas, cold beer, and great food. The waterfront was terrific for us, we had a lilly pad along, lots of floating toys, jet-ski, ski-boat, fishing boat, and rented the pontoon from Jill for 4 days. We had amazing weather and we spent a ton of time at the waterfront. Rolling coolers helped get cold drinks to and from the waterfront. The Calderwood Lodge afforded everything our group needed and we had a fabulous week."

Then, to the right of that is a tuck away bunk room with curtain door for privacy. In this "room," there are 2 twin over queen bunks. Had you gone to the left when getting down the stairs, you would have a family room with a sectional couch, television, and an ottoman that also converts into a twin bed in a pinch. - "This cabin was so cozy and cute! Had enough space to comfortably fit 5 people. Kayaks, paddle boards and paddle boat were great to have use to. We really enjoyed our time here! Note to future renters - there is plenty of wood on site, but bring an ax to cut the logs into firewood pieces. I don't know if the lake is always green or if it was just the time of year we went, but no one was brave enough to swim." - "Very clean, relaxing property on a quiet lake… plenty of space and great location."

Great games and outdoor equipment to use.Thank you for your hospitality." - "We enjoyed the cabin and the property very much. Surprised by how big and beautiful the cabin was. Most of our meals were out on the deck and the firepit was very nice. I would difinitely recommend this property to other people." - "Lucky View Lodge was the perfect setting for 4 college roommates to get together for the first time in 50+ years to celebrate birthdays and catch up. It was wonderful -- and just as it looks in the online images. It has a beautiful view on a serene lake with great accommodations. We each had our own bedroom, and made use of the screened-in porch, the comfy living and dining rooms, and ate lunch every day on the attached deck. The recently remodeled kitchen was impressively stocked with whatever you might need for cooking in. We grilled and ate in two nights and treated ourselves to dinner out at the Balsam Lake Lodge for the third night. We really enjoyed sitting around the firepit or out on the dock, chatting and watching all the lake activity, especially all the bald eagle, osprey and great blue heron fishing and flying over all day every day. They were amazing! Our host Amy was in touch with us every day to make sure we didn't need anything which was much appreciated. We all loved it and would visit again in a heartbeat!"

The fire pit and large yard were perfect to enjoy yard games and cook pudgy pies, the sunset was beautiful as well. Our kids loved catching little fish off the pier and I found pleasure in using my Kayak around the bay. My husband was able to tie up his fishing boat with ease. Having 2 nice bathrooms with shower and tub combination was great. Just be sure to pull the door toward you to enter the code to open the outside door, it took me a bit to figure that out. Lakeshore Cabin On The Waters Edge of Bone Lake
Cabin
Milltown, Wisconsin, USA

Our cabin features a large deck overlooking the lake, and is only 30 feet from the shore. The shoreline is gravel and is shallow for the first 25ft making it a great place to play in the water.

The cabin has 3 bedrooms (2 queen beds, 1 twin bed), kitchen, and living room (pull out couch) which walks out onto the 200+ sq ft deck. The cabin is a cozy 800 sq ft but can host a surprising number of people for its size. We love this cabin for water skiing and playing on the lake. Its located on one of the calmest areas on the lake and we water ski and play right in front of the cabin. Bone lake is a great fishing lake, and you can catch plenty of pan fish off the dock.

Our neighbors are quiet and family oriented. We expect our guests to be the same and respect our great neighbors. We are not interested in renting to anyone looking to party or be loud at night.

A 1500lb water mat and kayak are available to use. Room on the dock for you to bring a boat.

Bone Lake is a 1667 acre lake. It is a 4.8 mile boat ride from one end of the lake to the other. It has a maximum depth of 43 feet. Fish include Musky, Panfish, Largemouth Bass and Northern Pike.

We have yearly inspections and are a licensed rental property with Polk County, Wisconsin. This includes yearly drinking water tests.

We had a great time on the splendid Bone lake. The cabin had a kayak, but we ended up bringing our own so we could all explore the lake, watching the eagles, loons and other wildlife. The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. Our kids also enjoyed both lounging and playing with the provided large swim mat. The cabin was also in a great location and took a couple of trips over to the Taylor Falls area. We were able to easily use Verizon for internet, streaming, etc as needed. We had a great stay."

- "We had the greatest time. What a cute and intimate cabin with a ton of privacy. Warm and nestled in the woods if Wisconsin. The owners were great with response time and very accommodating. They had firewood ready for us, Netflix, and all the amenities a cabin needs. I don't know how there are bookings available to be honest. Thank you guys so much for letting us stay there!" - "The property was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed time in the cute little town of Luck and relaxed. We saw loons, a black bear, chipmunks, turtles, etc! The screened porch was a life saver because the bugs were a lot! Ticks were bad! It’s a beautiful little spot that’s close to activity if you want, but a great place to just chill if you don’t want to leave."

- "My family including a very active 2 1/2 year old enjoyed a very relaxing stay at Little Mirror Lake. The neighbors saw a bear so we kept looking. Many safety features like gates for young ones. Separate quarters down stairs for grandparents who want a little quiet. It was fun to have a canoe available to circle the lake with. Almost no people on the lake so very peaceful. Clean and comfortable places for families to hang out and play games and a wonderful porch and fire pit for gazing at the Lake. We had a wonderful time thank you!"

- "We absolutely loved our stay at this cabin. The well appointed cabin is very private and secluded, on a gorgeous stretch of Big Blake Lake. We rented the pontoon for all three days of our stay and the process was super slick. Gorgeous sunsets from the dock and a great screen porch for playing games in the evening. We saw loons, bald eagles, sand hill cranes, and deer. The lake wasn’t super busy which was nice. Megan was a great host and communicator. We can’t wait to return!"

- "Beautiful lake" - "The place was just the right size and ability to access round lake. The lake was small enough to enjoy kayaking across the whole thing and big enough to enjoy it 2 different days. Kids loved swimming also and going in the kayaks. Having access to log into our Netflix made it nice for us to enjoy some inside time on the rainy day. St. Croix falls had a nice boat ride to enjoy the river view on our way out of town. Wish we would of had one more day that wasn't rainy."

- "You won’t regret your stay here! Great location. Very clean. Two full bathrooms. One is small as is expected in a cabin but the main bathroom was a great size. The living room had a fireplace and nice sectional couch with an open feel to the kitchen and dining. It’s a very nice size. There was a nice selection of kitchen utensils and supplies. Much more than a typical VRBO rental we have stayed in. Access to the well maintained pontoon boat was a major bonus. The owner has fantastic communication and made sure we had all we needed. She was a joy to communicate with! The fire pit was ready for use but we didn’t end up having time. They also have a screened in porch that wasn’t pictured which has a table and chairs. Nice deck to sit on and a grill if you wanted to use it. Beautiful place!!!"

The space
This cabin features 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and is 1,000 sq ft. The master suite has a queen bed, electric fireplace, TV, DVD player, wall A/C, and leather couch. The second bedroom has a full bed with a small dresser. The third bedroom features a bunk bed with a pull out trundle bed to sleep three and access to a small dresser. The porch is not heated, but there is an electric space heater and with the sliding door open, the area warms up nicely even on the coldest of nights. There is a high top table, mini fridge, bar with cocktail glasses, sofa and TV located in the porch. Outside there is access to a gas grill, table top charcoal grill, picnic table and a fire pit and some bench seating. In the summer months, there is access to a deck with two chairs, a kids’ table and chairs, bench swing, dock, deck box with life jackets, noodles, and some outdoor games, a swim platform, swim “Lily Pad”, a canoe, and bean bag toss game available for guest use.

**If you’d like to bring your own boat, please let us know at least two weeks in advance, and we can arrange space to attach it to the dock**

[SECURITY CAMERA INFORMATION]:
- Your safety matters! This property features 2 exterior security cameras with one facing from the front door and one facing the deck/waterfront area. They do not look into interior spaces.

Guest access
Guests may use the entire cabin, driveway, front yard to the road and backyard to the lake. The restricted areas are the shed, garage, pontoon, and boat lift. Guests should use caution on wet or icy paths around the exterior of the cabin.
In the summer months, there is access to a dock, swim platform, swim “Lily Pad”, and a canoe available for guest use.

Other things to note
A few cabin quirks: The cabin has a septic system. There is a septic alarm inside the utility closet of the second bedroom. If the septic alarm turns on, it emits a very loud beep sound. There is a whisper/silence mode button on the alarm which can be pressed to silence the alarm. The alarm system cord needs to remain plugged into that wall. Please notify us if the alarm goes off so that we can have a service person empty the system. The tank will only be 80% full so you may continue to use facilities as normal during your stay. Please only flush toilet paper in the toilet and dump any food waste in the kitchen garbage to avoid damage to the septic system.

In the event there is a loss of hot water, there is a breaker box in the second bedroom. The breaker listed for the water heater has likely tripped, it simply needs to be reset and wait for a short period for the water heater to reheat the water.

As a result of the septic system and smaller water heater, please try to refrain from washing clothes, washing dishes, and using the shower simultaneously. You’re more than welcome to use all amenities, but to ensure you have enough hot water, it’s best to space out the use a bit!

Guest access
Guests can access the entire cabin and property. There is a garage and shed that are locked and not available to guests.

Other things to note
Long lake is an approx 60 acre lake that does not have a public boat access or public beach. There are only 15 individual owners that have property on this natural wonder, with the majority of them being seasonal cabins. While the lake is a low recreational lake noise travels across water easily. You may hear some occasional traffic from the road due to this as well as water activities from families playing in the water, primarily in the summer time on the weekends.

Do not leave any food outside or on grill. Clean grill immediately after use to not attract animals. There are animals and our cabin is in woods with water surrounding it. Take appropriate safety precautions. This is more their home then ours. Animals include but not limited to that we have seen on the property: deer, bear, coyotes, fox, badgers, bats, lizards, frogs, toads, fish, ticks, several types of spiders, bees and flying insects, salamanders, osprey, owls, eagles, hawks, turkey’s, otters, beavers, geese, swans, cranes, chipmunks, raccoons, squirrels, snakes, woodchucks, turtles, snapping turtles, weasels, minks rabbits, loons, and various types of species of birds.

Other animals that are known for being in the area, but we have not yet seen as of yet: bobcats, and porcupines.

Eagle Ridge Hideaway is on the Ice Age Trail. In the spring and summer you may have hikers hiking on the trail. Hiking is available by walking out the cabin door.

There are 2 high efficiency window air conditioners for summer months new in 2023.

If your stay is 7 nights or longer, washer and dryer is available upon request.

THINGS TO BRING: Sunscreen, toiletries, shampoo, conditioner, bug spray, food, beverages, coffee, seasonings and condiments. (Public health in Polk county does not allow shared condiments, seasoning or shared containers.) Beach towels for swimming, do not use indoor cabin towels.

WHAT IS OFFERED: individual salt and pepper packets. (Public health prevents any shared communal kitchen food/liquid items.) hand towels, bath towels, bedding and linens, hand soap, dish soap, toilet paper (3 rolls per bathroom), paper towel (2 rolls) and garbage bags. Extra soaps can be found underneath sinks. We offer starter packs of these supplies, for longer stays you may need to pick up more.

WINTER/SNOW: The private road and our driveway does get plowed if there is 3 or more inches of snow. Because this is a cabin in the woods, that is not our primary home, guests are responsible for shoveling the the area from the driveway to the cabin during the winter. There are shovels and salt provided. It is recommending to have 4 wheel drive during the winter months. While it's not mandatory, this can help ensure you don't get stuck if there is a lot of snow.

Amenities:

Bathtub • Free dryer – In unit • Lake view • Free washer – In unit • Valley view • Hot water • Hair dryer • Beach view • Cleaning products • River view

PERFECT & AFFORDABLE FAMILY REUNION PARADISE!
Cabin

Still trying to find the perfect location for your summer get-away? Our 5-bedroom, 3 bath lake home sits on a secluded, private lakeside lot just two hours from the Twin Cities. Perfect for large family gathering, reunion, or a relaxing getaway.

The space
Like to fish? Little Butternut Lake is a beautiful 185-acre lake in Luck, Wisconsin with good fishing for pan-fish, Large-mouth Bass, Northern Pike and Walleye. We have a private dock, 3 kayaks and a canoe for your use.

Like to explore? Gandy Dancer State Trail is a 98-mile recreational trail spanning through Wisconsin and MN and is located across the street. Great for biking, running and snowmobiling. Enjoying gorgeous scenery while hiking can also be found just a short drive away in St Croix Falls and Taylors Falls.
Wild mountain, Fawn-Do-Rosa, and Osceola are also great options for kids and the whole family.

Inside the home you will find a large open living room, generous size dining table, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds to accommodate a large group and 3 good size bathrooms.

*Bathroom remodels coming soon!

Guest access
All portions of the house and property are accessible- minus the garage and two closets which will be locked.

Other things to note
Swimming is not ideal right off of our dock at this time. You will need to paddle or tie your boat farther out for a clear swimming spot.
We do offer a fairly large floating dock and a few floats to use. The floating dock is fairly large and heavy so you will need something to pull it out.

Outdoor grills- We offer two gills, one gas and one charcoal. Initially we only offered charcoal but after a few requests we decided to offer both. IF you decide to use the gas grill we do not provide the propane. There is a tank, but you will be responsible for filling it. Typically, our turnover time is very short in the summer months and we do not have time to tend to it.

*I would like to address the issues with basement and recent reviews. Unfortunately, we had two issues concerning the basement this fall/winter that were sudden and out of our control. Both of which have now been fixed and resolved.

*The well and the septic have now been replaced. No water pressure issues going forward.
