ALL- OR 4-WHEEL DRIVE REQUIRED
ADULTS ONLY (MINIMUM AGE 18)
SECLUSION AT ITS FINEST! Escape from everything to "Halcyon" - a beautifully-appointed cabin overlooking a waterfall in true wilderness with all of the amenities . This property includes a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom house with cedar interior, 40 acres of private forested land with rocky outcroppings, a spring-fed stream that runs the entire length of the property, culminating in a beautiful waterfall next to the cabin, and shares a border with the Ozark National Forest, providing hours of hiking, exploration, and photo opportunities.
The house is furnished with craftsman cedar tables, bedframes, dressers, and chairs, comfortable lounging furniture, and everything you’ll need in the kitchen, including a dishwasher, washer, and dryer. The bedrooms include one on the main floor (queen bed, overlooks waterfall) and two on the 2nd floor (one queen bed in loft area with smart TV and DVD player with 50+ DVDs, one comfortable futon in room overlooking waterfall). The "great room" has a vaulted ceiling, a large wood-burning fireplace, a smart Roku TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, and a dining room overlooking the beautiful waterfall. There is also a bonus room on the 2nd floor overlooking the waterfall that can be used as a 4th bedroom with tri-fold foam mattress (provided) or an office with a spectacular view. You will also have access to all of the comforts of home such as robes, dinnerware, flatware, spices and herbs, pots and pans, cookie sheets, bedsheets, pillows, towels, blankets, etc.
Also included with the house are patio furniture, screened canopy, portable fire pit, charcoal grill, folding chairs, and a two-person anti-gravity chair.
For an unforgettable experience, follow the stream west to the border of the Ozark National Forest, where it is possible to hike from the north side of the stream for days downstream through untouched wilderness and beautiful waterfalls.
The charming town of Jasper is only a 20-minute drive and is a hub for canoeing, horseback riding, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and many other outdoor activities.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
* An all- or 4-wheel drive vehicle is required to get to the property, as the last mile is gravel (maintained by the county) and gets relatively steep at points, and there is a small stream to cross to get to the cabin. Rain in the forecast makes it an even greater requirement.
* Two vehicles can be parked in the driveway right by the house, and there is more parking across the stream and up the gravel road.
* If more than 4 adults arrive at the house upon check-in or arrive later, we reserve the right to turn guests away with no refund of monies paid.
* This property is not conducive to children; the minimum age to stay is 18 years.
* The waterfall is lowest in the summer months, and we've seen it get down to a trickle during dry times. We can't predict when this will happen, and cannot be held liable for the water level of the stream that feeds the waterfall. We pray for rain during those times!
* The stream next to the cabin is not fishable, but fishing is possible within 20 minutes of the property. Please contact the Buffalo Outdoor Center for more information about fishing in the area or visit their website.
* This property is in Newton County, which is a dry county, so any alcohol needed must be bought and brought in from elsewhere. The nearest liquor store is 40 minutes north in Harrison, Arkansas (WOW liquor).
- "We had a wonderful stay. A great place to relax and enjoy nature. Such a beautiful and comfortable home." - "This is a very special property. Due to drought conditions in late July we didn’t get to experience the waterfall in all of its glory. No complaints though, and the host were very easy to communicate with as questions arose." - "This property is a dream! We really enjoyed our stay and will def be back!" - "Perfect place to disappear and check out in the wilderness 😎"

- "Pretty property" - "We loved the quiet of the woods. Even though there are neighbors not far away you would never know it. The creek was very low and completely dry in some areas, but we still enjoyed exploring it. Lots of crawfish. Just be careful on the rocks in the middle they look dry but are very slick. A few of us found out the hard way. Lol The cabin is perfect. Very clean, had everything we needed. The owner very helpful. Directions were perfect. We even found it in the dark. Everything was just as described in the listing. It is off of an unpaved county road. It’s ok just keep going. There isn’t much to do in the immediate area other than hiking or side by side/ four wheeler riding, but we were looking to get away from the crowds so it was perfect. We did venture down to Clarksville to the public pool one day for the kids to swim. It was very clean and not crowded even on a Saturday. Catalpa Cafe was amazing. We had lunch on Friday and went back for breakfast Saturday. Randy, the owner, told us he plans to sell and open his food truck out on 21 in Ozone. He is definitely worth seeking out. Would love to come back when the creek is full."

- "Property and cabin were both extremely nice. There isn’t any cell signal but they have free wifi so still able to make calls if needed. The location is great for riding several of the nearby trails. Plan on making a winter trip for another ride with friends." - "Beautiful quiet setting, super clean well cared for property. Mini family reunion of sorts / utv trip." - "This is a great place to stay. Owners are wonderful. Lots of room and great beds and showers for sure. Close to trails. The creek in back is great and porches on front and back for sitting out in the sun. A laundry room is coming soon. I would say that if you are looking to be at the top of the trail area this is the place. You can ride 3 miles on road to trail head. Just remember to ride only the yellow trails. Also stay on the trails. If you want a extreme ride head to Mill Creek and ride those trails remember that the tighter the diamonds the harder the trails there are some rock crawling areas as well. There is a fine for riding on roads that are not designated. Best to reach out to local clubs they will help you know where to ride. The other thing I would recommend is to purchase a map from Mullberry Mtn it has the codes for the trail that can be rode."

Curtis Creek Farmhouse is a charming & comfortable home away from home. Surrounded by a small working cattle farm it also features practically a 360 degree view of the mountains (especially in the winter). It has modern amenities but still holds on to vintage charm & appeal. The gravel road to the farm house features a beautiful rocky bluff overhang, while the driveway has a 100+ year rock fence. Centrally located to many of the popular Newton County, AR hikes, 30 min drive to Jasper, 40 min drive to the Buffalo River.
Upstairs/main level:
LIVING ROOM with two leather couches (seats 6), smart tv with streaming services you can log in to, bluetooth Klipsch premium sound bar with subwoofer, and wood stove (a small amount of wood provided during cold weather);
DINING ROOM and KITCHEN with refrigerator, gas cook stove and oven, microwave, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker, crockpot, as well as typical dishes/utensils, and solid oak dining table that seats up to 6 with leaf; kitchen has stainless steel pots and pans as well as Granitium non stick pans -- cast iron can be provided if you give me a detailed description of you how you will use, take care of and clean them. =) ~~ I try to provide plenty of everything (no starter packs where you have to buy more household supplies to finish out your stay), so that all you need from the store is your food and drink. A cabinet in the kitchen does have quite an array of food, but nothing is guaranteed to still be there from the previous guest. I do try to make sure there is always salt, pepper, spices in a spice rack, a little flour, sugar, brown sugar, oil, oil spray, foil, and clingwrap. There's usually a good assortment of condiments (used) in the fridge as well. There's plenty of plates, bowls, and drinkware, including plasticware for outside use. Coffeemaker can make a whole pot or a single cup (both use loose coffee ground, no cups or pods).
BATHROOM with antique clawfoot bathtub/shower combo; again, no starter packs of anything.. I do my best to leave plenty of everything you'll need for your stay. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are in the shower/bathtub. In the cabinet, there are extra toiletries in case you forgot something. There is also a small bar of homemade lye soap, if you prefer that over body wash.
PRIMARY BEDROOM with a king size bed, plenty of pillows, side tables with lamps and plenty of charging space, luggage rack and small armoire with hangers.
Downstairs/basement is a combined BEDROOM and living area open to the upstairs via the stairwell. Includes two queen size beds, couch and tv, original Nintendo gaming console with 18 games & two controllers, dining table, games/cards/books, and washer and dryer.
Outside there is a really great full length front cedar deck with porch swing and two rocking chairs with small table. There is a bird feeder to enjoy while sipping on your favorite beverage. The back patio features a charcoal park-style grill (charcoal not included), 7 person hot tub, and large yard with a picnic table and fire pit (some wood provided) with seating for 6.
Plenty of parking space to bring trailers with ATVs (no riding in yard please) or horses (subject to additional rules and fees before booking).
Limestone Valley is known for its beauty and recreational benefits. Enjoy the seclusion with peace and quiet and the non light-polluted night sky (soooo many stars at night and maybe even the Milky Way), yet still being close enough to enjoy Newton County hikes, the Buffalo River, and Jasper, the county seat. Staying at the Curtis Creek Farmhouse is almost like stepping back in time with features reminding you of grandma and grandpa's house but with modern amenities that we all enjoy.
The Farmhouse is located about two miles down the steep & curvy dirt/gravel road. Four wheel drive is NOT required... regular vehicles do just fine.
There’s access to the county road where you can ride four wheelers, side by sides, and horses. There’s also a smaller county road on down in the valley that is accessible by the above mentioned types of vehicles or four wheel drive vehicles. It’s a beautiful drive above/along Piney Creek with amazing swimming holes (depending on rainfall/drought) that include rocks to jump off of and a wonderful day of relaxing.
If you book a stay with us, just let us know you’d like directions on how/where to access this road and we’d be happy to tell you.
Please Note:
🌒 If you are not accustomed to a very rural setting, you may want to arrive during daylight hours. It gets very dark at night and it's easier to see the road and driveway during the day. It is safe to arrive after dark, just go slow on the road. I do leave the light on for you though just in case you get here after dark!
🛻 If you are bringing a trailer, please let us know if it’s over 20’ long so we can tell you where to park it… it will NOT make it around the turn from driveway into the yard. We have a field across from the start of the driveway, you can have access to.
🤳 There is no cell phone service down here. The farmhouse has WiFi and a rotary phone (for emergency use if the WiFi is out). Turn WiFi Calling on in your cell phone settings to make and receive calls using WiFi.
🚭 No vaping or smoking of any kind inside the farmhouse. If there are signs, smells or damage from smoking inside, there will be at least an additional $150 cleaning fee, depending on damage. If there are cigarette butts outside (not in ashtrays) there will be an additional $50 cleaning fee.
🐄 Yard adjoins a small working cattle farm. You are NOT to cross any fences or gates. There may be times where we have to come close to the house (in the fields) to feed/take care of our livestock.
🐕 Pets (up to 2 dogs) are allowed but you MUST add them to the booking. Otherwise you are subject to additional fees.
🛖 There are outbuildings around the farmhouse that are not to be entered or tampered with. They belong to and are used on the adjoining cattle farm.
🌲 We are surround by the Ozark National Forest. Use caution with wildlife. Since we are surrounded by forests/woods/trees, we do sometimes get bugs/critters in the house. We spray regularly and use all means we can to keep them out, but it's just a part of country life.
🎥 There is a motion detecting camera in lower part of the yard/driveway.
- "We had a fantastic time here. The views were beautiful all around us. The owners were amazing we had a night where a storm rolled through, and they immediately messaged to let us know where we could find candles and lights to use if we lost power, fortunately we did not, but the fact that she thought about it and prepared us was so nice. I would 100% recommend this place to everyone to experience." - "From the host's communication to the property, absolutely fantastic. The photos dont do it justice! If you are looking to unplug and immerse yourself in nature, this is your place.
The cozy cabin sits on the bank of the Little Mulberry Creek. The creek runs most of the year, but slows to a trickle in the dry summer months (as shown in the photos).
The second floor of the cabin sleeps an additional 2 people, with a full size bed and a half bath. YOU MUST SELECT 3 or 4 GUESTS TO HAVE THIS SPACE ACCESIBLE DURING YOUR STAY. This is a small loft space with an exterior entrance only, not suitable for small children. The additional guest fee of $25 a night is for 3 or 4 guests. When booking, select 3 guests to have the room added to your reservation.
The cabin is tucked at the back of our property. To reach the location please be prepared to drive down 6 miles of dirt road. Access to the cabin requires driving over 2 cattle guards and through a pasture. All of this can be done with a car if you are comfortable/experienced with driving off pavement, but you may prefer to arrive in an SUV or truck.
This area of the Ozarks does not have cell service. However, there is WIFI at the cabin and barn.
The kitchen has all the necessities for preparing meals. You will want to arrive prepared as the nearest grocery store is an hour drive. In addition the closest gas station is 15 miles, locally owned, and closes early. Don't show up on an empty tank. :)
The serenity and seclusion of the cabin is truly a unique experience but not for everyone. We like our guests to be fully prepared and happy.

- "Perfect cabin for a quiet weekend. Close to great hiking and surrounded by trees and wildlife! Our host was very responsive to questions and made great hiking suggestions. The cabin was exactly as advertised. Not close to restaurants or grocery stores (which we knew) so bring most of the food that you want with you." - "We enjoyed staying there very much, the house and surroundings was very accommodating. Jennifer was very helpful in any questions I had. And we tried to leave the cabin better than when we found it… And it was perfect when we got there… Thanks so much for the opportunity hope we can do it again"

- "Lovely stay at the cabin. Much needed getaway. Thank you for letting us stay at your cabin!" - "The hostess was very nice and accommodating. The cabin was clean, cute and peaceful. She has the heat on and the temperature was perfect upon our arrival. There was a nice note explaining things in the cabin. The hosts live about 75 yards away so if we needed anything, they were available. However they left us alone to enjoy our stay." - "Cute cabin with everything one could need. Pick up some groceries and bring a sense of adventure. Property exactly as described, excellent directions, kind property owners and the sweetest doggos. We enjoyed a relaxing thanksgiving weekend here. Thank you for hosting! Byrds adventure center is nearby with a camp store for small essentials if you forget something."

- "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cedar Rock Lodge. The property is very clean and well equipped with kitchen essentials and extra bedding/linens if needed. There are plenty of board games and books to keep you entertained if the weather keeps you inside. Fortunately, we had perfect weather while we were there. The artsy touches throughout were a joy and the wind chimes on the porch created soft music with the breeze. The view from the large porch is spectacular. We started and ended our days enjoying the tranquility while sitting on the porch. It’s a bit of a drive to the closest grocery store in Jasper, so be sure to stock up on groceries before you arrive. All other cooking essentials are available, including basic spices."

This unique place has a style all its own. Take it easy at this newly renovated 100-year-old studio cabin. Located just off of scenic Hwy 21 in Johnson County sits Iron Mt. Studio Cabin. Surrounded by nature this cabin has over 75 miles of beautiful views from right outside the door.
- "Great property and great view. Served our purpose to rest our heads in between rivers in the area. Very cozy and had everything we needed. Communication from host was great." - "We totally enjoyed our stay at this quaint cabin. It was everything we needed on our trip to explore local waterfalls. We did have 1 issue when we got back to the cabin for the night, no hot water! I contacted Pat at about 8pm and she sent her husband out within 15 min. It was just a bad breaker for the water heater. He had us going in no time with hot water. Excellent service. The cabin has been totally remodeled and is in like new condition. I highly recommend this place for a get away from the city. There are 2 other cabins larger than our 1 bed cabin if you have a larger group or family."
