Waterfall Wilderness Retreat Bordering the Ozark National Forest
House
Deer, Arkansas, USA

ALL- OR 4-WHEEL DRIVE REQUIRED
ADULTS ONLY (MINIMUM AGE 18)

SECLUSION AT ITS FINEST! Escape from everything to "Halcyon" - a beautifully-appointed cabin overlooking a waterfall in true wilderness with all of the amenities . This property includes a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom house with cedar interior, 40 acres of private forested land with rocky outcroppings, a spring-fed stream that runs the entire length of the property, culminating in a beautiful waterfall next to the cabin, and shares a border with the Ozark National Forest, providing hours of hiking, exploration, and photo opportunities.

The house is furnished with craftsman cedar tables, bedframes, dressers, and chairs, comfortable lounging furniture, and everything you’ll need in the kitchen, including a dishwasher, washer, and dryer. The bedrooms include one on the main floor (queen bed, overlooks waterfall) and two on the 2nd floor (one queen bed in loft area with smart TV and DVD player with 50+ DVDs, one comfortable futon in room overlooking waterfall). The "great room" has a vaulted ceiling, a large wood-burning fireplace, a smart Roku TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, and a dining room overlooking the beautiful waterfall. There is also a bonus room on the 2nd floor overlooking the waterfall that can be used as a 4th bedroom with tri-fold foam mattress (provided) or an office with a spectacular view. You will also have access to all of the comforts of home such as robes, dinnerware, flatware, spices and herbs, pots and pans, cookie sheets, bedsheets, pillows, towels, blankets, etc.

Also included with the house are patio furniture, screened canopy, portable fire pit, charcoal grill, folding chairs, and a two-person anti-gravity chair.

For an unforgettable experience, follow the stream west to the border of the Ozark National Forest, where it is possible to hike from the north side of the stream for days downstream through untouched wilderness and beautiful waterfalls.

The charming town of Jasper is only a 20-minute drive and is a hub for canoeing, horseback riding, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and many other outdoor activities.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
* An all- or 4-wheel drive vehicle is required to get to the property, as the last mile is gravel (maintained by the county) and gets relatively steep at points, and there is a small stream to cross to get to the cabin. Rain in the forecast makes it an even greater requirement.

* Two vehicles can be parked in the driveway right by the house, and there is more parking across the stream and up the gravel road.

* If more than 4 adults arrive at the house upon check-in or arrive later, we reserve the right to turn guests away with no refund of monies paid.

* This property is not conducive to children; the minimum age to stay is 18 years.

* The waterfall is lowest in the summer months, and we've seen it get down to a trickle during dry times. We can't predict when this will happen, and cannot be held liable for the water level of the stream that feeds the waterfall. We pray for rain during those times!

* The stream next to the cabin is not fishable, but fishing is possible within 20 minutes of the property. Please contact the Buffalo Outdoor Center for more information about fishing in the area or visit their website.

* This property is in Newton County, which is a dry county, so any alcohol needed must be bought and brought in from elsewhere. The nearest liquor store is 40 minutes north in Harrison, Arkansas (WOW liquor).

- "Pretty property" - "We loved the quiet of the woods. Even though there are neighbors not far away you would never know it. The creek was very low and completely dry in some areas, but we still enjoyed exploring it. Lots of crawfish. Just be careful on the rocks in the middle they look dry but are very slick. A few of us found out the hard way. Lol The cabin is perfect. Very clean, had everything we needed. The owner very helpful. Directions were perfect. We even found it in the dark. Everything was just as described in the listing. It is off of an unpaved county road. It’s ok just keep going. There isn’t much to do in the immediate area other than hiking or side by side/ four wheeler riding, but we were looking to get away from the crowds so it was perfect. We did venture down to Clarksville to the public pool one day for the kids to swim. It was very clean and not crowded even on a Saturday. Catalpa Cafe was amazing. We had lunch on Friday and went back for breakfast Saturday. Randy, the owner, told us he plans to sell and open his food truck out on 21 in Ozone. He is definitely worth seeking out. Would love to come back when the creek is full."

- "Property and cabin were both extremely nice. There isn’t any cell signal but they have free wifi so still able to make calls if needed. The location is great for riding several of the nearby trails. Plan on making a winter trip for another ride with friends." - "Beautiful quiet setting, super clean well cared for property. Mini family reunion of sorts / utv trip." - "This is a great place to stay. Owners are wonderful. Lots of room and great beds and showers for sure. Close to trails. The creek in back is great and porches on front and back for sitting out in the sun. A laundry room is coming soon. I would say that if you are looking to be at the top of the trail area this is the place. You can ride 3 miles on road to trail head. Just remember to ride only the yellow trails. Also stay on the trails. If you want a extreme ride head to Mill Creek and ride those trails remember that the tighter the diamonds the harder the trails there are some rock crawling areas as well. There is a fine for riding on roads that are not designated. Best to reach out to local clubs they will help you know where to ride. The other thing I would recommend is to purchase a map from Mullberry Mtn it has the codes for the trail that can be rode."

HIKING dog friendly HOT TUB & FIREPIT peaceful farmhouse cabin ATV UTV TRAILS
Cabin
Deer, Arkansas, USA

Curtis Creek Farmhouse is a charming & comfortable home away from home. Surrounded by a small working cattle farm it also features practically a 360 degree view of the mountains (especially in the winter). It has modern amenities but still holds on to vintage charm & appeal. The gravel road to the farm house features a beautiful rocky bluff overhang, while the driveway has a 100+ year rock fence. Centrally located to many of the popular Newton County, AR hikes, 30 min drive to Jasper, 40 min drive to the Buffalo River.

Upstairs/main level:
LIVING ROOM with two leather couches (seats 6), smart tv with streaming services you can log in to, bluetooth Klipsch premium sound bar with subwoofer, and wood stove (a small amount of wood provided during cold weather);

DINING ROOM and KITCHEN with refrigerator, gas cook stove and oven, microwave, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker, crockpot, as well as typical dishes/utensils, and solid oak dining table that seats up to 6 with leaf; kitchen has stainless steel pots and pans as well as Granitium non stick pans -- cast iron can be provided if you give me a detailed description of you how you will use, take care of and clean them. =) ~~ I try to provide plenty of everything (no starter packs where you have to buy more household supplies to finish out your stay), so that all you need from the store is your food and drink. A cabinet in the kitchen does have quite an array of food, but nothing is guaranteed to still be there from the previous guest. I do try to make sure there is always salt, pepper, spices in a spice rack, a little flour, sugar, brown sugar, oil, oil spray, foil, and clingwrap. There's usually a good assortment of condiments (used) in the fridge as well. There's plenty of plates, bowls, and drinkware, including plasticware for outside use. Coffeemaker can make a whole pot or a single cup (both use loose coffee ground, no cups or pods).

BATHROOM with antique clawfoot bathtub/shower combo; again, no starter packs of anything.. I do my best to leave plenty of everything you'll need for your stay. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are in the shower/bathtub. In the cabinet, there are extra toiletries in case you forgot something. There is also a small bar of homemade lye soap, if you prefer that over body wash.

PRIMARY BEDROOM with a king size bed, plenty of pillows, side tables with lamps and plenty of charging space, luggage rack and small armoire with hangers.

Downstairs/basement is a combined BEDROOM and living area open to the upstairs via the stairwell. Includes two queen size beds, couch and tv, original Nintendo gaming console with 18 games & two controllers, dining table, games/cards/books, and washer and dryer.

Outside there is a really great full length front cedar deck with porch swing and two rocking chairs with small table. There is a bird feeder to enjoy while sipping on your favorite beverage. The back patio features a charcoal park-style grill (charcoal not included), 7 person hot tub, and large yard with a picnic table and fire pit (some wood provided) with seating for 6.

Plenty of parking space to bring trailers with ATVs (no riding in yard please) or horses (subject to additional rules and fees before booking).

Limestone Valley is known for its beauty and recreational benefits. Enjoy the seclusion with peace and quiet and the non light-polluted night sky (soooo many stars at night and maybe even the Milky Way), yet still being close enough to enjoy Newton County hikes, the Buffalo River, and Jasper, the county seat. Staying at the Curtis Creek Farmhouse is almost like stepping back in time with features reminding you of grandma and grandpa's house but with modern amenities that we all enjoy.

The Farmhouse is located about two miles down the steep & curvy dirt/gravel road. Four wheel drive is NOT required... regular vehicles do just fine.

There’s access to the county road where you can ride four wheelers, side by sides, and horses. There’s also a smaller county road on down in the valley that is accessible by the above mentioned types of vehicles or four wheel drive vehicles. It’s a beautiful drive above/along Piney Creek with amazing swimming holes (depending on rainfall/drought) that include rocks to jump off of and a wonderful day of relaxing.

If you book a stay with us, just let us know you’d like directions on how/where to access this road and we’d be happy to tell you.

Please Note:

🌒 If you are not accustomed to a very rural setting, you may want to arrive during daylight hours. It gets very dark at night and it's easier to see the road and driveway during the day. It is safe to arrive after dark, just go slow on the road. I do leave the light on for you though just in case you get here after dark!

🛻 If you are bringing a trailer, please let us know if it’s over 20’ long so we can tell you where to park it… it will NOT make it around the turn from driveway into the yard. We have a field across from the start of the driveway, you can have access to.

🤳 There is no cell phone service down here. The farmhouse has WiFi and a rotary phone (for emergency use if the WiFi is out). Turn WiFi Calling on in your cell phone settings to make and receive calls using WiFi.

🚭 No vaping or smoking of any kind inside the farmhouse. If there are signs, smells or damage from smoking inside, there will be at least an additional $150 cleaning fee, depending on damage. If there are cigarette butts outside (not in ashtrays) there will be an additional $50 cleaning fee.

🐄 Yard adjoins a small working cattle farm. You are NOT to cross any fences or gates. There may be times where we have to come close to the house (in the fields) to feed/take care of our livestock.

🐕 Pets (up to 2 dogs) are allowed but you MUST add them to the booking. Otherwise you are subject to additional fees.

🛖 There are outbuildings around the farmhouse that are not to be entered or tampered with. They belong to and are used on the adjoining cattle farm.

🌲 We are surround by the Ozark National Forest. Use caution with wildlife. Since we are surrounded by forests/woods/trees, we do sometimes get bugs/critters in the house. We spray regularly and use all means we can to keep them out, but it's just a part of country life.

🎥 There is a motion detecting camera in lower part of the yard/driveway.

- "We had a fantastic time here. The views were beautiful all around us. The owners were amazing we had a night where a storm rolled through, and they immediately messaged to let us know where we could find candles and lights to use if we lost power, fortunately we did not, but the fact that she thought about it and prepared us was so nice. I would 100% recommend this place to everyone to experience." - "From the host's communication to the property, absolutely fantastic. The photos dont do it justice! The rual, seclusion, privacy of this property nestled in the Limestone Valley surrounded by nature, i cant put into words how awesome the whole experience was. We WILL definitely be back."

- "Great stay!!" - "This cabin made the perfect weekend getaway. We ate outside every meal and sat by the awesome fire pit every evening while birds sang all around us and deer came right up to us. The only reason we contacted the owner was to get more birdseed! CJ was super nice. They’ve done an incredible job with this cabin. They put a lot of thought into the remodels and additions. We loved the porch swing and the hot tub. We made a trip to Dover to eat a homegrown brunch at Drewry Farms, explored the caves at Pedestal Rocks, stopped for ice cream at the Hankins store at Sand Gap and Whouda-Thought-It just up the road. Most of all we RELAXED! I think we’ll just go on and move in. ;) Next time we’ll bring an ATV or my motorcycle for sure."

Creek Cottage, in the Ozarks!
Cabin
Pettigrew, Arkansas, USA

If you are looking to unplug and immerse yourself in nature, this is your place.

The cozy cabin sits on the bank of the Little Mulberry Creek. The creek runs most of the year, but slows to a trickle in the dry summer months (as shown in the photos).

The second floor of the cabin sleeps an additional 2 people, with a full size bed and a half bath. YOU MUST SELECT 3 or 4 GUESTS TO HAVE THIS SPACE ACCESIBLE DURING YOUR STAY. This is a small loft space with an exterior entrance only, not suitable for small children. The additional guest fee of $25 a night is for 3 or 4 guests. When booking, select 3 guests to have the room added to your reservation.

The cabin is tucked at the back of our property. To reach the location please be prepared to drive down 6 miles of dirt road. Access to the cabin requires driving over 2 cattle guards and through a pasture. All of this can be done with a car if you are comfortable/experienced with driving off pavement, but you may prefer to arrive in an SUV or truck.

This area of the Ozarks does not have cell service. However, there is WIFI at the cabin and barn.

The kitchen has all the necessities for preparing meals. You will want to arrive prepared as the nearest grocery store is an hour drive. In addition the closest gas station is 15 miles, locally owned, and closes early. Don't show up on an empty tank. :)

The serenity and seclusion of the cabin is truly a unique experience but not for everyone. We like our guests to be fully prepared and happy.

Access to the water wasn't as close as we expected for swimming, but was great for a "Creek Walk", & sun bathing. Had a great time!"

The cabin was exactly as advertised. There are plenty of board games and books to keep you entertained if the weather keeps you inside. Fortunately, we had perfect weather while we were there. The artsy touches throughout were a joy and the wind chimes on the porch created soft music with the breeze. The view from the large porch is spectacular. We started and ended our days enjoying the tranquility while sitting on the porch. It’s a bit of a drive to the closest grocery store in Jasper, so be sure to stock up on groceries before you arrive. - "Great property and great view. Served our purpose to rest our heads in between rivers in the area. Very cozy and had everything we needed. Communication from host was great." - "We totally enjoyed our stay at this quaint cabin. It was everything we needed on our trip to explore local waterfalls. We did have 1 issue when we got back to the cabin for the night, no hot water! I contacted Pat at about 8pm and she sent her husband out within 15 min. It was just a bad breaker for the water heater. He had us going in no time with hot water. Excellent service. The cabin has been totally remodeled and is in like new condition. I highly recommend this place for a get away from the city. There are 2 other cabins larger than our 1 bed cabin if you have a larger group or family."

Puddin's Pad access to miles of ATV trails, and 20 miles from Buffalo River.
Cabin
Pelsor, Arkansas, USA

Breathtaking sunset and sunrises from your private porch. Enjoy your fire pit on a cool evening while star gazing. Ride directly to miles of ATV trails from your cabin, or drive a short 20 miles to enjoy a float on the Buffalo River. A short drive to hiking trails all around the area. If you are feeling really adventurous, take the hour and a half drive to beautiful Branson, MO to see some shows or enjoy Table Rock Lake.

Guest Reviews:

- "First off arrive before dark if at all possible. In the middle of no where is a bit of an understatement. Nearest store is about 1/2 hour away depending on how good a mountain driver you are and it doesnt offer much. If you think you'll need it bring it. Else you may have an hour drive to get it. This is all good stuff as its exactly what we wanted. The pad is very clean. The view is amazing and sitting on the deck for sunrises and sunsets is amazing. Water pressure for showers was great as well as having plenty of hot water. The ladder to loft is a bit steep and when you get to the loft it has a low ceiling good for kids but adults may not like it and its a straight up vertical ladder that is rock solid sturdy. The ATV trails are accessible from the cabin as you can drive on the state and county roads. We found plenty of nice paved, dirt, gravel roads to ride on and some very difficult technical trails to ride as well. Macks Pines is about 20 miles south of the cabin. We trailered there one day got maps and some awesome info from the owner. If its your first time to the area thats a good place to start. You can access Macks Pines on trails from Puddins pad if you have a map. Trail signage is not to be found. MOST IMPORTANT thing I can share is to avoid accessing the cabin from the north VIA 123 South. There is a stretch of road that is impossible to make with a trailer. I know there is a sign on 123 south out of Mt Judea that warns of impassable roads. Have fun. We sure did"

Hikers and waterfall chaser friendly cabin
Cabin
Pelsor, Arkansas, USA

Welcome to Special Rock Cabin. We fell in love with the Ozark Mountains during the Summer of 2020. We knew we had to have our own piece of this paradise. In May of 2024, it became a reality when we bought our cabin. Real cedar interior, board and batten siding, it had that true “cabin” feel that we wanted. Above all, it is right smack in the middle of all the hiking and waterfalls that we love. As for the name of the cabin, our kids use to bring us “special rocks” from daycare, and we loved it, so we incorporated the name!

1 private bedroom with a King bed.

1 semi private bedroom/laundry room with custom built in live edge cedar bunk beds. These things are sweet and we are proud of it!

Kitchen has full size fridge, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, and is stocked with your basic cookware.

1 bathroom with shower/tub combo. A curtain separates the bathroom from the semi private bedroom with bunk beds

Living room is open to the kitchen and has a fold out futon and matching chair. It's pretty awesome real aspen wood furniture.

Covered front porch to take in the Mountain breeze at 2,015 foot of elevation. We love our morning coffee right here, and we think you will, too.

We have 3.1 acres to explore. This is a remote part of the country, and we have bears, fox, coyotes, raccoons, and lots of deer on and around our property. We have a game camera on our property that has caught all of these animals. Please bring in all food and trash at night so our wildlife does not get it.

Cabin is on Scenic 7 Byway, considered one of the most beautiful scenic drives in the country! You should see the color change in the Fall!

Cabin is 22.5 miles from the quaint Mountain town of Jasper, and 22.9 miles from the Buffalo River at Carver Landing.

**Guests may NOT use the wood burning stove or access our shop. NO PETS, as my daughter is very allergic. NO SMOKING OR VAPING. No campfires unless you bring your own firepit. Thank you for understanding.**

You may use the entire cabin. However, guests may NOT use the wood burning stove or use our shop on the property. Thank you.

Other things to note

There is no wi-fi at the cabin. AT&T cell service does not work at the cabin. Verizon has service at the mailbox but not inside the cabin. Cell service is spotty in this area. You can drive a few miles north or south on Hwy 7 and you will begin to pick up service.

Guests may NOT use the wood burning stove in the kitchen.

Guests may NOT use our shop on the property.

- "Great place to relax after hiking and trail work on the OHT (Fairview Trailhead)!"

Jack's Joint miles of ATV trails, hiking trails, and 20 mins from Buffalo River.
Cabin
Pelsor, Arkansas, USA

Breathtaking sunset and sunrise views from your spacious porch area. Enjoy a warm fire inside by the fireplace or outside at the fire pit. Miles and miles of ATV trails which you can access directly from the cabin. Beautiful hiking trails are a short drive away from the cabin in every direction. If you visit during warmer weather, enjoy floating the Buffalo which is only 20 miles north of the cabin. Feeling really adventurous....an hour and a half drive away is beautiful Branson, MO. Everything in one place at this beautiful get away.

Guest Reviews:

- "Four of us had a lovely stay at Jack's Joint in March 2024. It's a great location near hikes we like, with a really nice view and wonderful deck. We would definitely rent here again. The manager/co-owner Stephanie was very responsive before and during our stay - nice to meet you, Stephanie! - and the only reason we gave 4 stars instead of 5 have to do with the "new" factor. It's such a new rental property, a few items were still being worked out when we stayed and a few conveniences were missing. They were minor overall and I shared a list with owner after, which she appreciated. (Plus, she immediately brought us a few items we asked about.) I expect these will be addressed by time someone reads this. (Also, house was clean but some personal items left from previous renters weren't removed, so 4 stars; and 4 stars on listing because it needs *more* info - otherwise accurate.) The beds were comfortable and it's nice for two couples that each has a bathroom to themselves. The kitchen and living area are spacious - and the deck is amazing. Loved it. The kitchen has plenty of well-stocked cabinets though a bit tight on counter space for groceries, etc. (We learned owners plan to revamp kitchen a bit to address this). The view is great because the house sits on a hill (it's a bit steep on the gravel drive but we made it fine). Overall a great couple of days in a nice and convenient rental property."

Guest Reviews:

- "Owner gave great directions to the cabin. We loved it was away from the outside world. The scenery was beautiful. The cabin was beautiful and cozy. Take food & a grill but other then that it was a fabulous weekend." - "No Wi-Fi and no cell service in the area( host told me ahead of time) No AC, small mini fridge 2x2, a couple fans and a space heater. No table or chairs, a couch and a piece of a sectional for seating. No way to cook besides microwave. Bring a grill or something to cook on. Nothing close to go out to eat. Bed was good, very secluded, private area. Overall it was a decent stay. We was riding utv in the area so it was about 20 minutes from mill creek outfitters camp ground"

BuffaloHead Cabin
Cabin
Newton County

Private solar powered primitive 'Top of the Buffalo' cabin in the Buffalo National River Headwaters surrounded by the Ozark National Forest in the center of the Upper Buffalo Mountain Bike Trails. Close to Hawksbill Crag/Whitaker Point, Upper Buffalo Wilderness, Horseshoe Canyon, Glory Hole, Lost Valley, Hailstone & Kings River Falls. Glorified camping w/o a tent. Use an outhouse and outdoor solar shower bag. Basic clean. Wood bunks. No beds/linens/blankets/pillows.Value is seclusion/location.

The space
The Top of the Buffalo Cabin was built with a very low carbon footprint. 95% of the wood used in construction was salvaged from local down trees after a devastating ice storm in 2009. Logs were gathered onsite and milled onsite for the building lumber. Stones for the foundation pillars were gathered from a local creek. The metal for the roof and siding along with the insulation material were reused from old chicken houses. And the windows and doors are all re-used from other buildings. Building design and construction techniques were based upon traditional Ozark practices, and minimal external energy was employed throughout the entire building process.

There is a potable water tank in the loft of the cabin. The water tank is filled periodically from an excellent spring on the property, which is also used for our residence. The water flows from a spring by the creek into stainless steel tanks from which the water is pumped 300 vertical feet (via solar power) to the tank in the cabin loft from which it flows by gravity 6 feet to the sink below. So very low pressure. There is a solar shower bag which some guests use to shower, either by leaving it in the sun to heat or pouring in warm water. Please note that in the winter the water system may be completely frozen as the cabin is only heated by guests.

The BuffaloHead Cabin is located at the very top of the Buffalo National River watershed about one mile from the Buffalo Fire Tower--- the top of the Ozarks (Wahzhazhe in Osage). The Ozark National Forest Upper Buffalo Trails (38 miles) are accessed directly from the cabin. Many great natural wonders are nearby including Hawksbill Crag, Kings River Falls, Upper Buffalo Wilderness Area, Glory Hole, Magnolia Falls, Compton Double Falls, Lost Valley, Smith Creek Preserve, Sweden Creek Falls, and the upper sections of the Buffalo National River.

Our guests love the privacy and the easy access to national forest trails. We provide spring water, firewood and a small solar electric system. Wifi is available as well. Many guests love bringing pets, especially dogs as they have a secluded and safe place to hang out and run the trails. We have more than 450 glowing reviews. Our guests rave on the cabin itself, the included amenities and the location. Many guests report strong feelings of well being, connections with Nature, clarity of thinking and great relaxation and release from the stresses of everyday life while visiting. Up to 6 guests stay for one very resonable price.

The Upper Buffalo Trails are world class mountain bike trails with several days of riding available right outside the cabin door. Trails are generally rated as Intermediate with a few Expert level descents. These are old school hand built mountain trails occasionally connected with machine built flow sections. Riding is good in most all weather conditions. The trails are very resilient. Wildlife is abundant. Spring wildflowers are glorious. Fall colors are psychedelic. Winter snows are pristine. The Upper Buffalo Trails are the most wild and remote trails in the entire State. Despite the remote location the trails are expertly signed and mapped with pedastal maps of the entire system at every trail intersection. It's almost impossible to get lost while following the trails.

We are also only 4 miles off the Ozark High Country gravel bike route not far from Red Star. This is a great refuge and rest stop for cyclists traveling through the mountains. We love cyclists and do all we can to accommodate their needs!

We established our homestead on the land 43 years ago and it has been a long-time dream to offer this experience to others. We hope that this off grid adventure helps make people thoughtful and satisfied and in some small way helps to make the world a better place. We hope that you are able to visit, to release the tensiouns of modern life and connect with the ageless natural world.

Guest access
The cabin is for your own use only. Very secluded and very private. But if you have a large group you can have access to a six site campground that can be used for additional guests. If you are interested ask about pricing.

The cabin itself is on 5 acres nestled in the middle of the Ozark National forest. It is off of a Forest Service road which is usually fine but depending on the weather can have some muddy spots. I would recommend some sort of SUV or 4 Wheel drive during the rainy season but not necessary. No one has gotten stuck yet. I also have an extra four-wheel-drive Expedition in case anyone needs it to access the cabin but no one has needed it yet. You might also want to have an SUV or four-wheel-drive to explore all of the many County and Forest Service roads up here on the mountain but not necessary. They are usually just beautiful and a little bumpy dirt roads.

Other things to note
To make your stay at Panther Cabin the best... most enjoyable & memorable ever... we've supplied Panther Cabin with not only you in mind but ourselves as well. Our family & friends stay there too. We want it just right... juuust... puuurfect. There are also some of the most special socialized cats who have taken residence outside the cabin. A very sweet addition. Great with dogs and people and will walk with you out on your property hikes and even lead the way. :-) I myself am usually allergic to cats but not these. :-). They are actually outdoor cats and kittens but Panther Cabin is there home.

“Your own” vacation getaway home-away-from- home. Just how YOU want it too. Yes, of course we want you to come back over & over again. Join the family.

Special Rock Cabin
Cabin
Newton County

We fell in love with the Ozark Mountains during the Summer of 2020. We knew we had to have our own piece of this paradise. In May of 2024, it became a reality when we bought our cabin. Real cedar interior, board and batten siding, it had that true “cabin” feel that we wanted. Above all, it is right smack in the middle of all the hiking and waterfalls that we love. As for the name of the cabin, our kids use to bring us “special rocks” from daycare, and we loved it, so we incorporated the name!

The space

You can go to the Who-Da-Thought-It store just half a mile north of the cabin, and they have Wi-Fi.

We do not have a TV. We enjoy being able to really unplug. Please consider this before booking.

Conveniently located less than 1 mile off scenic Hwy in Ozone Arkansas, the cabin is 15 miles or 20 minutes north of Clarksville, Arkansas. This is a great base spot for any vacation simply because of proximity. You are 2 hours south of Branson, and 2 hours North of Hot Springs, so day trips are a breeze. You are 2 hours from both the Little Rock (LIT) and Northwest Arkansas Fayetteville/Bentonville (XNA) Airports.

Here you are 10 miles from Lake Ludwig and its 2 public swimming beaches, awesome fishing and new RED LICK MTN BIKE TRAIL SYSTEM. Enjoy a lap around the lake loop
on your mountain Bike with the family or tear up the slopes with trails ranked from bunny/beginner to double black diamond.

If fishing is your vice, you’ll find world class Crappie, Small and Large Mouth and Catfish in the Arkansas River, Lake Ludwig, Lake Dardanelle, The Mulberry River, Little Piney Creek, Big Piney Creek, and Piney Bay, -ALL within a half hour of your door. There are many stocked ponds scattered throughout the national forest as well, so bring your pole with you as you explore.

Kayaking and Rafting are world Class in Arkansas in the wet Spring months, or on rainy weeks, and Ozone has amazing proximity there as well. We sit on the ridge here, so any watershed can be accessed by just picking any direction. The Mulberry River has amazing flow from Oark and Wolfpen to Byrds located just to our west. Little Piney to our South and Big Piney to our east have more fall than most any other rafting destination floats in Arkansas. The White River has the most legendary trout fishing in the world, and it is a beautiful 2-hour drive to the northeast. But the Best Float in between the Rockies and Appalachia is hands down the Buffalo River -45 minutes (37.5 miles to Ponca) straight to our North from the cabin door. You cannot lose from this spot because the water is amazing in every direction. We highly recommend downloading RiverApp to monitor float levels and rainfall to best plan your trip. Don’t forget to bring a camera (and a dry bag).

The Boston Mountains segment of the Ozark highlands trail is just 4 miles (5 Minutes!) from the door of the cabin. With over 270 miles from Fort Smith to Missouri, the trail offers unparalleled scenic hiking year-round right at your doorstep.

SXS and ATV trails are mere minutes from your front door here as well. Ozone is most famous for its offroad trails and scenic waterfalls. It is easy to do 50, -80, -even 100 miles in a day right here from the cabin on a SXS or ATV, just park your trailer, and unload. Many apps are available to help you navigate the trails here locally, but if you want some suggestions, just ask. We love guests on our trails here, we only ask that you are respectful to the people and the land by picking up any trash you take in with you. We like to keep Arkansas Beautiful. SXS rental is available through Ozark Ridge Campground just 5 miles away if you can’t bring your own.

Finally, THE FOOD-

Clarksville has a Walmart and a Harps grocery if you intend to top off supplies to cook. We have a new electric stove and microwave with all the utensils needed to prepare any meal.

The last chance for Gas is the Red Lick Store 8 miles south on Hwy 21. They have awesome pulled pork there as well. The restaurants in Clarksville will knock your socks off, especially for a small town. The Wrecked Canoe has daily specials and great burgers and steaks. Crosswoods has amazing steaks and a large dining room.

If you don’t want to go to the big town, try Oark, 25 minutes away you have an amazing Oark Mountain View Bistro there, as well as the oldest continually operating General Store @ the Oark General store. Do not forget to try the pies there either, or take one to go yummm.

Or if don’t want to get out, and you don’t want to cook either- the Burger Barn is just a couple miles away. They pride ourselves in having the best hand-made burgers in the area. Typically open Tuesday through Sunday 11-7 (weather permitting).

The Farm. Heaven on Earth.
Cabin
Johnson County

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. 350 acres of paradise in the national forest. This Farm has been in our family nearly 50 years. From the cold water spring in the front yard to Little Piney Creek you have to cross to get here. Even a playground in the yard my dad built for my kids. Ride ATV's, bike, swim, hike, relax, and enjoy. The original log structure is pre-Civil War from what I understand. Just doesn't get any nicer. Located 2.1 miles down dirt road.

Other things to note
IMPORTANT NOTE!!!! With there being a creek crossing to access the property, there is a chance we would have to cancel the reservation. If so there would be a full refund given as long as Airbnb didnt hold any fees. Also, if you did have a stay and there was significant rain there is a chance you could be stuck at the house. The creek is not crossable probably 2-3 weeks a year on average. If further questions please ask. Also it is recommended to have a truck or suv. 4 wheel drive is preferable but not necessary. I posted a picture of us crossing in early June. Usually in the summer the creek is dry but not always and always is running Fall thru Spring.

Centrally located to many hiking trails, 30 min drive to Jasper, 40 min drive to the Buffalo River.

Curtis Creek Farmhouse is a charming & comfortable home away from home.

LIVING ROOM with two leather couches (seats 6), smart tv with streaming services you can log in to, bluetooth Klipsch premium sound bar with subwoofer, and wood stove (a small amount of wood provided during cold weather);

DINING ROOM and KITCHEN with refrigerator, gas cook stove and oven, microwave, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker, crockpot, as well as typical dishes/utensils, and solid oak dining table that seats up to 6 with leaf; kitchen has stainless steel pots and pans as well as Granitium non stick pans. I try to provide plenty of everything (no starter packs where you have to buy more household supplies to finish out your stay), so that all you need from the store is your food and drink.

About three more miles down the road, past the farmhouse, is Piney Creek which is usually swimmable in the summer, as long as there isn’t a prolonged drought.

If you are not accustomed to a very rural setting, you may want to arrive during daylight hours. It gets very dark at night and it's easier to see the road and driveway during the day. It is safe to arrive after dark, just go slow on the road. I do leave the light on for you though just in case you get here after dark!

If you are bringing a trailer, please let us know if it’s over 20’ long so we can tell you where to park it… it will NOT make it around the turn from driveway into the yard. We have a field across from the start of the driveway, you can have access to.

There is no cell phone service down here. The farmhouse has WiFi and a rotary phone (for emergency use if the WiFi is out). Turn WiFi Calling on your cell phone to be able to make and receive phone calls using WiFi.

No vaping or smoking of any kind inside the farmhouse. If there are signs, smells or damage from smoking inside, there will be at least an additional $150 cleaning fee, depending on damage. If there are cigarette butts outside (not in ashtrays) there will be an additional $50 cleaning fee.

Yard adjoins a small working cattle farm. You are NOT to cross any fences or gates. There may be occasions where we will have to be close to the cabin (in the fields) to feed/take care of the livestock.

Pets (up to 2 dogs) are allowed but you MUST add them to the booking. Otherwise you are subject to additional fees.

There are outbuildings around the farmhouse that are not to be entered or tampered with. They belong to and are used on the adjoining cattle farm.

We are surround by the Ozark National Forest. Use caution with wildlife. Since we are surrounded by forests/woods/trees, we do sometimes get bugs/critters in the house. We spray regularly and use all means we can to keep them out, but it's just a part of country life.

There is a motion detecting camera in lower part of the yard/driveway.

Guest access
You will have access to the whole house, fenced yard, driveway and creek (not suitable for swimming) along driveway.

Other things to note
If you are not used to a rural setting, you may want to arrange your plans to get here during daylight hours. It gets very dark at night and it's easier to see the road and driveway. I do leave the light on for you though just in case you get here after dark!

UTV Info:
“There are big groups of side by sides that go by our house quite often. Which is another good ride. 3 miles north on 21, turn left on NC 9360...follow church signs. You go past the church and just keep going. It turns into a forestry road. Its a little rough but they ride over it all the time. It comes out just East/Southeast of Catalpa. Good for a jeep ride also. Also, the other road I just mentioned, there's a county road number, I'll try to pay attention next time I go by it, but locals know it as Rossetta Road.”

From my coworker: “If you mean approved ATV trails...there's some up hwy 215 going out towards Byrd's adventure center indo believe. Just a mile or so south on 21, there's a gravel road on the left (don't remember the county road #) that goes all the way down to little Piney creek. It's a fantastic ride for an ATV
