The Starfish Cottage is the perfect place to relax for your next getaway. Located in the Pierpont neighborhood of Ventura which is just west of the 101 freeway between San Buenaventura State Park and The Marina. This ideal location offers the best of Ventura.

Bike trails will take you along ocean paths to Santa Barbara or east to Ojai. Restaurants are within walking distance from The Starfish. The Marina has the best bikini store along with well established eateries.

Head across the freeway to old downtown Ventura for a great shopping or dining experience. Check out the resell shops, wine bars, and just all the wonderful locally owned businesses.

The cottage kitchen has everything you need for cooking. Our large outdoor patio is comfortable and roomy. Our home is situated on the north side - or sunny side of the lanes- so you will get nice morning breezes and afternoon sun.

Step outside the front door for a less then a 2 minute walk to the beach. All Pierpont lanes end at the State Beach.

You will love our new extra comfy king bed in the master bedroom - we splurged on the mattress and bedding. The second bedroom has a queen bed and the den has a new queen sofa sleeper. All linens are 600 count cotton sheets, pillows are the Allergen brand and we only use cotton covered down like comforters on all beds. We also provide plenty of throw blankets and extra blankets for your comfort.

An outdoor hot/cold shower is available to wash sand off yourself and your suits before going inside. A small amount of sand can clog the pipes and drains.

The kitchen is completely stocked with dishes (indoor and out) for your needs. We have a toaster, crock pot, Vitamix, Mocca Master Coffee Pot, spices, condiments and anything in the fridge is free to use.

All beach items are stored in The Tuff Shed behind the east front gate. Bikes can be stored behind the locked gate. The Shed is full of beach towels, chairs, umbrellas and other beach items that you will not have to pack.

- "Bunnie’s house was absolutely perfect for our weekend stay in Ventura for the X Games. We were able to walk to the Ventura fairgrounds and back each day. Beds are comfy. No AC, but it’s not needed— the beach breeze keeps the house cool with the windows open. The area is quiet by 10PM, so there are no noises keeping you awake. Bunnie is very attentive as well, and could always be reached. I only gave 4 stars for cleanliness as our bed had some sand in it; it wasn’t bothersome once swept out, though. Would definitely stay here again!"

Since we have stayed in the many different bungalows and large houses in the Lanes over that time, we are familiar with what one might reasonably expect when renting a bungalo here. The house is super great. But the backyard is uninviting and disappointing. It’s all cement, no shade, just a table and chairs. It’s a great little fenced in area, a priority of mine because I have 2 little dogs. But even they didn’t want to spend time out there. Many houses there are tiny, and a nicely done backyard to spend time in makes all the difference. It has so much potential and would be wonderful with a simple fire feature, a couple tall potted trees, a barbecue, and some sail-type shading….it would make a huge impact. It would be perfect."

Inside, the great room with vaulted ceilings provides comfortable living with an open, spacious feel. The new kitchen with designer backsplash tile has new cabinets, countertops, stainless steel appliances, garbage disposal, coffeemaker, blender, small appliances and filtered drinking water (sorry, no dishwasher). The single-story open floor plan of kitchen/dining/living space creates an intimate, peaceful atmosphere with plenty of seating and a flat screen TV serviced by cable. The bedroom has a queen bed, new HD Smart TV, and an attached bathroom with walk-in shower. The living room has a queen sleeper sofa with a Tempur-Pedic mattress. Linens, towels and all basic supplies are provided. High speed WiFi is available throughout, and play your favorite playlists with our Bose Bluetooth speaker.

The 1-car garage is accessed through the bedroom, providing easy access to the private washer and dryer, additional storage, and the beach equipment provided for your use (bikes, beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, and beach toys). The garage has ample space to store your personal belongings and beach toys. Dedicated parking for one normal-sized car is available in the driveway (sorry, the garage is not available for parking and we ask that you do not open and close the garage door between the hours of 11 PM and 8 AM due to the noise for the upstairs tenants). Additional parking is available a few houses down on the Main Street of Pierpont Boulevard.

The property is on the beach block of the beautiful Ventura seagrass beaches, and is also only 5 minute walk from the quaint Pierpont shopping area offering dining, drinks, yogurt, and coffee shops. Also a few blocks away is a Vons supermarket, Donut shop, Starbucks, bike shop, running shop. Towards the other end of Pierpont Boulevard is Marina Park where people walk dogs, play with their kids, do yoga and watch the surfers. An absolute must do is the bike ride (or walk) along the bike lane that is over the beach to the Ventura Pier where you can have tacos on the pier or go for a nice ocean view dinner at the Beach House Restaurant and get beers at the local MadeWest Brewery above. Make sure not to miss the amazing sunsets in front of the house and the gorgeous views of the islands as well!

This location is also very close to San Buenaventura State Beach, Ventura Harbor and Old Town in Downtown Ventura.

We ask all visitors to be mindful that a portion on this home is located below the home upstairs. Great effort has been taken to minimize sound from passing to the downstairs unit. However, as is typical with any 2-story home, the occasional footstep or muffled voice may be heard.

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). This property is best suited to provide you a space for some quiet, comfortable and relaxing time.

Park off street in the private carport on site. Upstairs are both bedrooms and the full bath. Downstairs is a fully stocked kitchen, seated dining area and living room -- which open into a lush private garden. The lanai is wonderful to lounge on, have dinner on the outdoor table. Enjoy sitting outside, taking in the organic fig, avocado and citrus trees. Nearby are a Von's grocery store, a Starbuck's and laundromat. Everything you need is here!

Explore your Area
Stroll on the beach, check out the sunsets, walk up the beach a bit. Or enjoy the nearby restaurants. Maybe you want to rent a surfboard, bicycle or a kayak from the local shops and go get out there to enjoy the sun. You could go ocean fishing, whale watching or visit Channel Islands by walking the other direction down the beach to the harbor. Explore downtown Ventura to find cute antique shops and boutique stores as well as a wide variety of restaurants and bars. Downtown Harbor Trolley provides a free and fun way to get between the Pierpont area and Downtown. If you are a golfer, two courses are just a mile or two away.

Explore a wider area with easy access to highway 1/101. Santa Barbara is thirty minutes north and offers many fine dining and wine tasting experiences. Take a drive south down Highway 1 to get a great view of the ocean, through Malibu and find yourself in Santa Monica or Venice beach, about an hour from here. Head into the mountains nearby and visit Ojai to tap into your spirituality or explore nature with a number of hiking options.

Booking Guidance
Did we mention quiet, comfortable and peaceful? This place is great for mature travelers, snowbirds, couples and corporate travelers. We prefer longer stays (30 days or more) and can work with you to split up your payments, if needed.

Please note: The rental is kept vacant briefly between guests to make sure we have time to clean the property between guests. Business and personal travelers are welcomed.

It's worth it to note that this property is not suitable for parties. If you intend on having extra over-night guests please advise us of this before booking and we can figure something out. Additional over-night guests not cleared with us will be considered a breach of the contract, with an additional $100 fee per night.

Also, there's no smoking and no pets allowed on the property.
We're not a management service, just people renting our space and respecting the guests we meet. We ask for the same.
