Silver lake is 460 acres of some of the best fishing waters in Kenosha County. The lake is centrally located between Chicago and Milwaukee near the Wisconsin/Illinois border. Lake species include musky, northern pike, walleye, largemouth bass, and pan fish.

During the spring, summer and fall seasons you can indulge in the clean waters of Silver Lake. Fisherman and kayakers can enjoy the wake restrictions before 10 am and after 7 pm. Water sports right out the back door (tubing, boating, wake boarding, water skiing, and swimming). Canoe or kayak Silver Lake or nearby Fox River. Silver Lake County park has one of the best sandy beaches in Southeastern Wisconsin, staffed with lifeguards; snack bar, and shelter. Multiple guide services are available for fisherman. Boat launches include a DNR (free), village (fee), and marina (fee). Bait shops and vending in Silver Lake and nearby Paddock Lake. Gasoline is available on the water at a marina.

- "This place was fabulous!! We immediately felt at home in Will’s clean, comfortable, well-stocked house with the great deck and lovely lake view. We rented the pontoon and enjoyed fishing and boating. We also used Will’s kayaks, paddle board and huge floating mat (“Lily pad”) a lot. The new, sturdy stairs into the water were a huge bonus- many lake places don’t have that. My 86 year old mom and my young grandson could get into the water easily! There’s a nice ping-ping table, firepit, firewood, and a cozy hot tub. Communication from start to finish was excellent!! Will was VERY responsive and helpful. The location was super, because my daughter and son-in-law could easily zip back to their home/work in Chicago as needed, and my son was able to fly in from Florida and it was a short trip from O’Hare. The lake was very close to grocery stores and convenient to go see the impressive water ski show in Twin Lakes and go to bars/restaurants on nearby Fox Lake and Lake Marie. Antioch is a cute town as well. I highly recommend Will’s awesome house on Lake Shangrila!!"

- "John and Layla are terrific owners - great to communicate with. Wonderful property for many reason including parking for many cars. The house is VERY clean, kitchen well stocked with almost every pan you would need. Including items you don’t often get such as spices cooking spray, plastic bags and wrap/ foil, and so much more, GREAT internet connection! The beds and bedding were well above the norm. The king bed was so comfortable I didn’t miss my sleep number ! And, our adult children said the same about the three queen rooms. The bunk room was not conducive for big teenage boys- The outside “stuff” was plentiful ping pong, foosball, air hockey, kayaks, rowboat, & Canoe- And more. We rented the pontoon boat, which made a world of difference because the lake is very small. I should’ve paid more attention to the details listed about the property- The house access to the lake is a bit of a challenge for anybody with even slight mobility challenges Inside stairs going from the main floor to the basement and Lake access have approx 12 steps. From the basement there are 20 steps down to the lake that only have a railing on one side- Finally, the quiet hour definition that included the screened in porch is a challenge when you have 7 teenagers between 14 and 17. Essentially we had to go in the house at 9 and with only one TV in basement it was difficult to find a place for a large group ( 12) to gather at night."

- 1st Bedroom: This bedroom contains a king size memory foam bed, a desk for remote work, and a large window with limited lake views and blackout curtains. This room also has a 55" smart TV, extra outlets, a dresser, and 2 closets with hangers.

- 2nd Bedroom: This bedroom contains a king size Tuft & Needle mattress and gorgeous views of the lake through the sliding doors. The room is equipped with a with a 43" smart TV, extra outlets, a dresser, a closet with hangers, and blackout curtains. Bedrooms 2 and 3 share a connecting bathroom.

- 3rd Bedroom: This bedroom contains a queen size Tuft & Needle mattress and a 43" smart TV. This room also has a dresser, a large closet with hangers, extra outlets, and blackout curtains. Bedrooms 2 and 3 share a connecting bathroom.

Bathrooms:
- 1st Bathroom: This bathroom is accessible from the main living area. It is a full bathroom with a bathtub and a shower head and extra toiletries for your convenience.

We have provided a number of books, puzzles, and games for your entertainment including Monopoly, Battleship, Connect 4, Stratego, Jenga, Ticket to Ride, Codenames, Sushi Go Party, and more!

4-Season Sunroom:
Our sunroom offers incredible views of Lake Shangri-La from the comfort of our home. We have a small sitting area to enjoy breakfast or coffee, a newly refinished pool table with a removable ping pong top, an indoor hot tub that fits 3 people comfortably, and a 55" extendable smart TV that you can view while in the hot tub.

Private Pier:
Our private pier offers up-close views of the lake. Two benches provide plenty of space for family or friends to relax. Please use one of the two provided kayaks and enjoy the lake! You can also go swimming, fishing, or birdwatching. Feel free to bring your own boat. Small boats can be launched from the property and larger boats can be launched nearby!

Our patio has an outdoor dining table and chairs and other seating. There is also a large lawn for outdoor games and activities.

Other Things to Note:
• As a lake home, we regularly have quarterly pest control service our home and as-needed servicing. However, given that we are very close to water, our home may still attract unwelcome pests.

• Our home’s water comes from a well. We periodically test for bacteria which have always returned negative (last tested on 4/12/2022). For your convenience, we also have included a water filter dispenser.

Key House Rules:
• No parties, events, or unregistered guests are allowed. Our front door and our garage have Nest cameras for security. There are no other cameras located throughout the home. Tampering with the cameras will result in the immediate removal from our home.
• No smoking, including vapes, or illegal substances on the property (inside or out).
• As a courtesy to our neighbors, please be quiet around 9 PM if outdoors.

One of the original cabins historic to this area, this vacation home feels a bit like stepping back in time. As you enter the spacious and nostalgic living room, lake views continue throughout the kitchen and enclosed 3-season room. Piles of cozy pillows & blankets await your retreat in both bedrooms, one with king bed and the other with both a queen bed alongside an Ethan Allen daybed. A casual dining area includes a farmhouse table that seats five. There’s also the additional seating in the 725SF enclosed porch during summer! The kitchen is stocked with plenty of cooking essentials and is equipped with a gourmet coffee station to prepare your perfect espresso drink, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. A cabinet filled with games and a separate TV welcome our smallest visitors with activities in their own separate "kid's cozy" (den). Stocked with plush towels and toiletries, the bathroom includes a standard bath/shower.

Please note that the thermostats in the cabin are for HEATING only. The AC/cooling is thru use of the AC window unit in the main living room and fans throughout the cabin. It’s small and will cool & heat most effectively with bedroom doors open!

On Thursday nights, live music is played at the band shell at old settlers park, where you can see boats anchored in the sandbar listening to the music.

INFORMATION ABOUT CAMP LAKE:
Camp Lake is 439-acres and has a maximum depth of 19 feet. There are 3 public boat launches; the northwest boat launch is 5 houses down the road! The lake is great for boating, fishing, swimming and water sports. Motor boating, kayaking, canoeing, water skiing/tubing, and other activities are all welcomed on Camp Lake! Fish in the lake include Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye, and Catfish. Kids 15 and under can fish without a license. Others can purchase fishing licenses at Paddock Lake Sporting Goods (5 miles from the house) or online at Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
*Please note, quiet hours on the lake are from 7pm-10am. During these hours, fishing is allowed, but motor sports are prohibited.

Only three in the box.5. Neighbors were a little loud, with late night fireworks. It was tolerable, but a little late for us who needed to get to bed by 10:00."

Upon returning from visiting the lake, the ski slopes, nearby attractions, or simply logging off for the day, you’ll be free to unwind in our reading den downstairs or you can sit outside on our patio, complete with a grill and easy-to-use gas powered fire pit.

The kitchen is fully equipped with different dinnerware (for both outdoors or indoors) as well as a wide array of pots, pans, utensils and spices/seasonings. You’ll also find metal skewers so when it’s time to go back out to the fire pit, you can enjoy some s’mores!

If inclement weather throws a curveball to your plans, the Chateau has you covered with complimentary live TV via YouTubeTV. If you prefer other entertainment such as Disney+, Netflix, Max, etc, the easy-to-use Roku interface on both TVs will allow you to log in to all of your favorite streaming services, so please remember to have your login/password info handy. You’ll also find a variety of board/card games to play - the perfect activity for in front of the fireplace!

We pride ourselves to be accommodating for you and your family so please make use of the pack n' play and baby monitor that we have provided.

We take your safety very seriously as you’ll notice several smoke detectors throughout the house as well as a carbon monoxide detector on each level. Any unused electrical outlets are covered with your youngsters’ safety in mind.

Other things to note:
The Lake Shangri-La community is a serene and peaceful one where all neighbors have mutual respect for one another. We ask you to please be courteous at all times. Please respect our home and neighbors as you would your own. With that in mind, WE DO NOT ALLOW PARTIES OR EVENTS at Chateau Shangri-La. To allow us to continue opening our doors to wonderful guests, we ask for full transparency and sincere honesty when you book in regard to guest count and the intent of your stay. Every guest, including infants and children and visitors who do not stay overnight, are included in the guest count. If you invite other people to the home that are not part of the guest count, you will incur additional charges.

*IMPORTANT* Please carefully read the ‘House Rules’ prior to sending a booking request - and legally we must tell you that they are the rules we have set forth that you are agreeing to abide by when you stay at our house. It is always best to send a booking inquiry first to make sure we are the right home for you!! Once you book, please share the House Rules with your entire group. By agreeing to stay at the Chateau you acknowledge that you will abide by all of these rules. We ask that you treat our home with the same respect that you do your own.

House Rules:
-This is a non-smoking property. No smoking, including vapes, or illegal substances on the property (inside or out).
-No pets are allowed on the premises.
-No parties, events, weddings, or unregistered guests allowed. This includes friends that visit you for the day and do not sleep over. Please be honest and do not try to sneak extra guests or pets into our home. Our front door has a Nest video camera for added security, and it also alerts us on our phone whenever there is motion at the door. **Any guests including children and visitors who don’t stay overnight must be included in the total guest count and will be charged the additional guest fee.** Similar to overnight guests, day guests increase our liabilities and add expenses such as increased usage of utilities, supplies, and additional cleanup.
-No open flames or candles are allowed on the property with the exception of the provided gas fire pit outdoors.
-Please no shoes inside the house. For your convenience we provide shoe trays to leave all footwear.
-Please respect quiet hours starting at 9 pm as a courtesy to our neighbors, including outdoors. No loud music or loud partying after 9 pm. Normal voices around the firepit are fine.
-Park in the driveway only. There is no street parking permitted (police patrol the area and will hand out tickets). Please do not park on our grass.
-Please supervise your kids when inside and outside the house around staircases (there are no safety gates).
-You may use our outdoor firepit and grill. Once you are finished using either, please turn off the gas valve located on the tank and place the covers back on each item. Please allow 20 minutes to pass before covering the fire pit to allow it to cool off.
-Please take care of the furnishings, dishes, and linens. Guests will be responsible for any damages occurring during their stay.
-Please do not move or rearrange the furniture including the outdoor patio furniture; additional charges may be incurred if any furniture is rearranged.
-Use beach towels provided in the linen closet for outdoors. The white bath towels are for indoors only.
-Place all garbage in the bins in the garage. Landfill trash goes in the brown bins while recyclables get placed in the green one. If you have excessive trash that will not fit into the bins, place extra bags, tied tightly, in the garage alongside the bins.
-Please notify us if something gets broken, no matter how small, so we know to replace it.
-Please notify us if something is not working properly or if something gets stained. We appreciate considerate and honest guests and we do NOT like surprises.
-Please adhere to these times: Check in is 3:00 pm and check out is by 11:00 am. Our smart lock app will automatically notify us when you lock the door at check-out.

Lake and Beach Rules:
-Swim in the lake at your own risk. Guests assume all liability and responsibility for themselves and their children when swimming, boating, canoeing, fishing, being on the docks and around the lake.
-Supervise your children at all times at the beach and around the water.
-For your safety, no diving in the lake.
-You’re welcome to use any water toys and inflatables provided at the Chateau. If you choose to use these water items, you and your fellow guests assume all liability and responsibility for activities you partake with them that take place off the premises. Please return all water toys, inflatables, etc to where you found them (nothing should be left at the lake).
