The only small thing they needed to add was a bath mat for the tub, it was very slippery, and maybe a small step stool for shorter people to reach some items in the cupboard. I'm only 5'4". Other than that, we had an excellent stay. We did get to meet the owner, because we initially had trouble getting into the apartment and he was a very friendly person. You can be in most of Manhattan in ~45 mins. There is also ample citibike (which you can even rent with the Lyft App) all over our neighborhood and the ferry is over at Soundview!

Depending on the season, you may catch a backyard bbq while you are here, but please know we work full time and have a lot going on. This house was built in 1901 and has been fully gut-renovated. We have hardwood floors, recessed lighting, quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, etc. In a city full of old and dated living spaces, ours is clean and fresh and new, but we get to live in a historic home. We have a picture of our house from 1940 hanging on the wall so you can see what it used to look like back in the day! This room has a super comfortable Stearns and Foster mattress (arguably the best in the house!) and an LG Air conditioning unit (which in the winter can also be used as extra heat, though with our radiator, the room is warm enough). The room has a giant desk in case you are studying or working from home. Pillows, towels, bedding, hangers, a place to hang your clothes and shelves for personal items are also included.

We have street parking on our street sometimes, but it is a short block and there are apartment buildings, so there is a lot of competition. We usually park two blocks away in between the Banknote building and the Corpus Christi monastery. You just have to make sure to move your car from side to side if you leave it there during the day because of street cleaning. We are also a 6 minute walk to the Hunts Point Subway Station, which has the 6 and the 6 express trains (6 express is just two stops to Manhattan at 125th street). Otherwise we are a 10-12 minute walk to both Intervale and Simpson (the 2 and 5 trains). There is also the Bronx 6 bus (Bx6) on the corner by our house that will take you to the subway stations if you don't want to walk, and also is about a 20 minute bus ride to Yankee Stadium. We also have citibike bicycle stations in every direction from the house (closest is a block away). The NYC ferry isn't too far either in Soundview (you can take buses/citibike there also).

Other things to note
We have 2 grocery stores (1 by the subway, and the other on the other side of our house) a few blocks away. The Boogie Down Grind is a coffee shop with food and drinks (beer, tea, etc.) around the corner from us which is quite the neighborhood hang out spot with live music, DJs, Karaoke, dancing, poetry readings, etc. on different nights of the week. The pandemic allowed them to expand to having outdoor seating and it is our favorite spot in our little neighborhood. We have a bunch of little parks nearby (Hunts Point Riverside, Julio Carballo Fields, Concrete Plant Park, Starlight Park, Hunts Point Playground, Hunts Point Recreation Center, Barretto Point Park, Joseph Rodman Drake Park, Hunts Point Landing, Budweiser Park, and then the bigger jewel of the area, Soundview, which is a 20 minute walk away. In the summer we have the floating pool lady pool at Barretto Point Park. It is a pool on a barge in the East River, with amazing Manhattan skyline views and a great view of the airplanes landing at LaGuardia airport.

Very sunny and cozy room with a view of the Grand Course. This stretch features many pre-war buildings, alongside the diversity that you'll find. The Bronx is noted as being one of the most diverse cities in the country.

The apt is on the 5th floor of a pre-war, 5 story WALK-UP. It sits less than a block away from the D & B subway station stop. These lines take you into the heart of Manhattan in less than 20 minutes. The 4 subway line has a stop close by.

Our place is close to Subway (express stop - 2 stops into Manhattan) and bus hub. You’ll love my place because of the beautiful renovation in a neighborhood with rich history, the people, and the coziness. Our place is good for solo adventurers, students, and business travelers. I live in the first floor apartment with my husband and two dogs (one Golden Retriever and one Maltese).
