- "House was immaculate upon arrival. Excellent for people with mobility issues. Friend was in a wheelchair and he could access entire house and waterfront deck. Very relaxing and enjoyable time. Some really great restaurants in town." - "I can’t say enough nice things about this house and about the owner, Joan. She is hands-down the most attentive and gracious host we have ever met. You can expect Joan to treat you like a neighbor. She’s wonderful. My MIL and FIL have limited mobility and this house allowed us to all be together, whether we were outside by the river or on any of the 4 floors in the house. The elevator was great! The proximity to Milford and Frenchtown made grocery shopping very convenient. I even walked from the house to Milford for a little exercise. The house is just gorgeous—Lovely decor inside, beautiful outdoor accommodations, tons of games, and everything you need from spices for cooking to netflix for movies. We even learned how to play croquet with the set in the garage. So fun! We definitely plan to stay here again! I would highly recommend."

IMPORTANT MESSAGE:
Welcome:
Over all the years that we have hosted guests at The Milford House we have tried to customize our message to emphasize the seasonal changes along the Delaware River and the surrounding area. What we have come to realize: The seasonal changes along the river and the surrounding areas are just the frame for the picture! It is The Milford House which every guest talks about! It is the warmth, hominess, beauty, comfort, and relaxation that we have worked so hard to create for you, our guests.
If you are looking for a quiet, restful escape, "The Milford House" is perfect for you. Sit on the River porch under the ceiling fans and enjoy the stunning, unobstructed, waterfront views of the Delaware River; or enjoy a family meal on the large, screened-in side-porch overlooking the large, fenced-in yard. Wildlife, including bald eagles, deer and geese are sure to visit in the evening. In the warmer months you can see the boaters and tubers enjoying the day, while in the cooler months, witness the fall colors and the unique image of a snowy river.
If you prefer a more active stay you can take the short walk into town to check out the shops and restaurants but be sure that you tell the shop owners that you are visitors to Milford and that you are staying at the VRBO The Milford House on Spring Garden Street. You can walk or ride the Delaware Canal footpath and local roadways and explore the many State and County parks in the area. There are railroad tracks that run up the river and in front of our home. These tracks are inactive and create a great walking path north and south along the river. Whether you want to relax or explore The Milford House is the ideal place to have your vacation or a weekend getaway.
The Milford House was completely renovated in 2017/2018 by the owners, Don & Kathy. Old world charm and lots of attention to detail including exposed beams, bead-board ceilings with fans both inside and outside, beautiful landscaping, random width wood floors, double French doors, floor to ceiling windows, and a warm, gas fireplace stove make this house a unique experience for all our guests in all seasons.
We provide all sheets, towels, and wash cloths to make your stay as leisurely and relaxing as possible. However, there is a small laundry charge in the fee schedule. Should you prefer to bring your own sheets, towels, and wash cloths, please let us know and we will edit the fee charges to delete the laundry fee.
1st Floor:
Large living room with TV, gas fired log set and stove, river views through the floor to ceiling windows, and double French doors leading to the open porch. Powder room / half bathroom. The kitchen is spacious with an eating table, new stainless steel appliances, access to the side screened in porch, and washer/dryer
2nd Floor:
Bedroom #1: Queen Bed, river views, TV
Bedroom #2: Queen Bed, yard view
Bedroom #3: Full Bed, river views
Full Bathroom with tub/shower
Property:
The large side yard is completely fenced and contains play facilities and a fire pit and sitting area. there is a large front porch facing the river and a larger screen porch on the other side of the house with very comfortable lounge furniture. The driveway has room for 5 vehicles.
Although our home has beautiful river views, the river bank is steep and access is only for the adventurous. Our grandchildren have negotiated the steep hill several times but it is challenging. There is a boat launch area right across the river on the PA side, just a few minutes away. But there are also numerous areas with river access on both the NJ and PA sides very close by.
There are railroad tracks that run up the river and in front of our home. These tracks are inactive and create a great walking path north and south along the river.
Other "Things To Do" during your visit to "The Milford House"-
Shop at Peddlers Village; go tubing down the river; visit the Crayola Factory or Sesame Place; hike around Ringing Rocks County Park; walk, bike or fish along the Delaware River; tastings at local wineries; take a day-trip to NYC; go to see the historic, Washington Crossing State Park; ride the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad; visit a small, river town like New Hope, PA, Stockton, NJ, or Frenchtown, NJ.
- "From the moment of arrival, our visit met or exceeded expectations in every way. This is a very obviously well loved and respected home. We came to the area for a family wedding in New Hope and left refreshed and inspired" - "So quiet and peaceful, with the river rolling by, and yet just minutes away from beaches, wineries, antiques, great food, everything we love about up-river PA and NJ. The house is charming, historic, and comfortable, with beautiful little accents everywhere, and the owners are a pleasure to work with. Thanks Kathy and Donald, we'll be back!"

- "We loved the property and the surrounding location of this quaint farmhouse. It was fully stocked with outdoor activities. We especially appreciated having everything we needed to make an outdoor fire. Very enjoyable stay!" - "I spent a summer week on the farm with my two teenage sons, two dogs, and my husband. It was wonderful! We were looking for a beautiful, low-key vacation full of swimming and enjoying being outside. The house was everything I hoped for. I appreciated the views and wildlife from every area -- pool area, lawn, and front porch. My boys swam constantly. My husband was most appreciative of the air conditioning, which did an amazing job keeping such an old home at the perfect temperature. Of course, the dogs loved every moment of everything. Have the fenced in pool area was amazing -- we could enjoy ourselves and not constantly worry about leashes. This is the place for you if you want to relax, play yard and indoor games, take in amazing views and walks, and binge a bit of TV. We also had good nights sleep. If you have accessibility issues the stairwell and stone patio may be hard to navigate."

Local guide books in living room, nice decorations- kinda had a “I inherited great aunt Tilly’s house and furniture but I decorated it with some new items as well” vibe. Owner was very communicative, answered questions on restaurants and local spots. Was very clean, had a washer and dryer, plenty of hot water. We had our dog with us, hardwood floors with throw rugs were nice for that. Stairs are kinda steep if u have issues or have little kids, but not a problem for us. Would stay again if in the area."

- "Lovely place, beautifully appointed and well-stocked. Quality throughout. Busy road separates house from waterfront, so the road noise was occasionally loud." - "We had a great time in Upper Black Eddy - Ken was helpful, friendly, and very accommodating throughout our stay for Mother’s Day Weekend. He provided a thorough check-in process, built us a fire in the living room, gave us a late check-out, and provided breakfast vouchers for the general store around the corner. The property itself is beautiful and nearby some great restaurants and wineries. We loved our stay there and will definitely be back!"

Escape the beaten path. This secluded and private refuge is tucked away down a winding dirt road in 1700 acres of timberland yet only a 5-mile drive to charming riverside towns. A place to enjoy the fresh air and well water from the tap. This refuge boasts a spacious main room with 20’ vaulted ceilings, a cozy fireplace, an outdoor porch swing, hammock, and a great big deck to enjoy.
- "My wife and I spent 10 days at the cabin in mid-April, giving us ample time to explore the area. The Delaware Canal towpath is a short drive away and provides miles of uncrowded walking path with plenty of natural beauty and wildlife. We cooked most meals at the cabin, but when we did venture out, there were multiple options in Frenchtown, Riegelsville, Lumberville, etc. The host was extremely responsive to any questions and had suggestions on local activities. We would not hesitate to book the cabin again when we return for our next visit."

This charming cape-cod style home has wood floors and old charm. In the living room you'll find a large built-in book case, with a fireplace (not usable) and two comfy sofas and a sitting chair. Through the foyer there's an office with a large desk and chair. There's a dining room off of the small kitchen that overlooks the manicured back lawn. An open stone side porch offers a quiet place to sit outside and enjoy the country air. In the basement you'll also find a quite sitting area with a fireplace ( not for use) and small sofa; around the corner you'll find another room with a small tv, a radio and an elliptical; further around the corner you can make use of a full-size bathroom and washer and dryer. On the second floor enjoy 2 roomy bedrooms with walk-in closets; these bedrooms have windows to the east and west for a great source of natural light.
- "Recommend!" - "Road traffic was a little loud but area to avoid that are out back" - "Very clean cape with many updates and lots of character. Plenty of space for my family with twin teens. My daughter occupied the basement area as her own separate pad with TV futons and full bath. My husband and I and son took the upstairs bedrooms. All with TVs and A/C The. Kitchen fully equipped and meals in the dining area looking out to pretty backyard. Thoroughly relaxing and tranquil inside or outside on the patio. We really enjoyed this home after being on the lacrosse field in the heat of the day. Drive by well maintained and pristine properties and river canal to get to this location. Don’t forget to visit the Canal side Cup. The ice cream was the best! Thad, the property owner, was very nice and responsive. Thank you Thad!"

Guest Access:
This is an exclusive Tentrr Signature campsite. Tentrr partners with farmers, ranchers, and other property owners to offer unique outdoor accommodations on beautiful private land. Our campsites are off-the-grid which means they generally do not have access to electricity, wifi, or modern plumbing. Instead, they offer the chance to relax, unplug, and fully experience nature! You'll have the entire campsite to yourself, as you'll be the only Campers enjoying this piece of paradise.
Each campsite includes a 10'x12' safari-style canvas tent on a raised platform, and you'll find one queen bed or a queen-size bunk bed inside (each site is different, see photos for the exact setup). Larger groups can also use the extra 5-person pop-up dome tent that’s provided (you’re welcome to bring your own camping gear too). You'll also have a 6-ft picnic table, outdoor fire pit, and 2 Tentrr Adirondack chairs.
What you should bring:
-S'mores supplies & any food you'd like to eat
-A cooler to keep your grub from spoiling
-Bedding and pillows
-Lanterns and lighting
-Firewood for the campfire
-Water
Upon check out, you should leave-no-trace of your stay and be sure your campsite is returned to its natural glory! While Tentrr does not charge a cleaning fee, we do expect campsites to be left how they were found. After you check out, take everything you brought in and be sure to leave your trash at the designated location on the property.
If a CampKeeper submits an incident report after your stay that details evidence of trash or damage to the campsite or the CampKeeper’s property, Tentrr reserves the right to charge a minimum cleaning fee of $50. Just make sure to follow the Camper Manual posted at your campsite and you'll be set!
Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet (we call it the Tentrr Loo). This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. Line the bucket with a CleanWaste bag supplied at the camp (or another appropriate plastic bag) prior to use. Afterwards, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. We got this idea from bathrooms used on NASA spaceships, and we've used the Tentrr Loo countless times ourselves- don't worry!
Showers: Every Signature campsite comes with a Coleman Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days.
Other Things to Note:
Visitors with small children should be aware that the campsite is located at the top of a steep ridge.

- "The Bissel House was the perfect weekend getaway. We chose to stay for a long weekend in January. It was an amazing way to get away during a time when travel is very limited. We picked up a delicious meal from Cocina del soul on our first night and used the wonderful kitchen for the rest of our meals. It’s conveniently located to walk around Frenchtown, NJ as well as go on your choice of a hiking trail. In the morning, we looked forward to seeing the birds visit the bird feeder. At night, we relaxed in the hot tub and enjoyed the fire place. Highly recommend!"

- "Our stay was outstanding. The first impression as we walked in for the first time was breathtaking. The house is very spacious, the grounds are well taken care of. Located in a private/remote area, It’s definitely a hidden gem. The goat and chicken farm is an added bonus. Fresh eggs and fresh milk is provided and delicious. The pool house is also very convenient and has a fridge, bathroom and changing area. A grill is also located by the pool. The host was the best, he promptly answered all of our questions and fulfilled all of our requests. We will 100% comeback and create more memories with the family."

The home is large yet cozy; its warm atmosphere makes you feel far away even though you're only 90 minutes from NYC and 75 minutes from Philly.
