Our home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is a dining room and kitchen with plenty of space to have the whole family. We frequently sit at the dining table and have long conversations as a family. There is a wonderful back yard with plenty of space and a nice, pleasant breeze. The neighborhood is quiet and laid back with lots of friendly people. Ligonier is the home that we always dreamed that we would have.

Located on the east side of Lake Wawasee on Morrison Island is my cute and completely updated cottage with a large deck over looking a wide open tranquil bay with a couple uninhabited islands with plenty of wild life. The cottage is a perfect place to park your boat for the duration of your stay. And the public access ramp is just a couple minutes drive away. Don't have a boat? No problem. Griffith's Wawasee Marina is just a couple minute walk away to service all your rental needs. Or bring the kayaks up and paddle around. My 14 ft Old town kayak as well as my 12 ft Perception are there for you to use as well.
For the times you don't want to be on the water, the green space on the island is perfect for family games or picnics. And since you'll be on an island, that means very low traffic so bring the bikes on up or your walking or running shoes and get a workout.
The towns nearby are Syracuse and North Webster and both have great places to eat, drink or shop. The Boutiques and antique stores are awesome.
Places to eat on the water? You have The Oakwood, The Channel Marker, and The Frog are all great places to go to after a day on Wawasee's sandbar.
So on to the house. Its 1000 sq ft of functionality. I've had the house for a number of years and have updated it completely front to back. New carpet, fresh paint, new beds, new appliances, new deck, etc. And because kids, and some of us adults can't go anywhere without it, it does have WiFi. And it also has a 55 inch Samsung Smart tv with some pre loaded apps such as Vudu, Hulu, and Disney. No cable tv.
The living room has plenty of space for relaxing or playing family games etc. It also has a single fold out bed and plenty of space for an air mattress for extra guests. The bedroom's are cozy and comfortable. One has a brand new queen size bed, and the other has a brand new full size bed.
The kitchen is outfitted with new stainless appliances and an eating area as well. But the best place to eat is really on the newly built deck that goes over the water. Burgers and chicken off the new grill taste best looking at the scenery that the lake has to offer. But nothing compares to a cup of coffee watching the sunrise. Have your camera ready!
C'mon up and spend a weekend or longer here and make some memories that will last a lifetime!
Added note here.... I do have a small pup and am not opposed to having dogs there as long as they are great dogs. By my definition that is a dog that does not chew on anything and is completely house broken (potty trained) and loves other dogs as many of the Morrison Island residents have dogs.
Added note here, it Does have central air conditioning and a gas grill. It does not have a dishwasher, or a washer and dryer. Also, important to know, the cottage has a newer hot water heater as well as a new water softener, but it does still get a bit of a sulfur smell from time to time when using hot water.

The Sunset Cottage is ideally located on Chapman Lake facing West overlooking the entire lake. You can swim right off the seawall as the sandy area is an ideal location for all sorts of water fun! The water depth is about 18” and it slowly tapers off to deeper water. The swimming area is quite large so bring a chair or floaty and have hours of endless fun whether you are young or young at heart. There are 2 sandbars on Big Chapman with shallow areas ranging from 1’ - waist deep. Tie up and have a great time! In the evening, sit around the campfire (firewood is included!), make s’mores & most importantly memories that will last a lifetime. No smoking or pets.

Pontoon information: WE HAVE A NEW PONTOON THIS YEAR!!

2025 Bennington 20SSR. It is 20’ in length with a 115 HP Yamaha motor. Maximum Capacities: 10 persons or 1400 lbs. Permitted use from Dawn to Dusk. The pontoon is exclusive to the Cottage. A tubbing package can be added for $69 which includes 1, 2-person tube. (Refer to contract for all rules / regulations / requirements)

The home is located lakeside with a built-in channel so your friends or family can pick you up to enjoy the sandbar or tie up your own pontoon or I/O boat. There is a public boat launch on the Southeast side of Chapman Lake.

PIER 382, located in the center of Syracuse Lake's prestigious North Shore, is a magnificent custom home that takes full advantage of the property's hilltop location providing breathtaking panoramic views of the lake from all three levels.
NOTE: With it's 3 levels (4 if you count the lake level) there a quite a few stairs. No more than other homes of this style, but enough we feel it important to mention. There is a large main level bedroom w/ adjacent full bath for those wanting to avoid stairs.
Essentially a two-story home with a walk-out lower level. As you enter the foyer on the main level, to the right is the laundry/pantry and rec room, straight ahead is a large bedroom, and to the left is the enormous gourmet kitchen, large dining area, turret-sun room, spectacular great room that overlooks the lake and opens onto the main level balcony. Up the wide staircase there are 4 bedrooms upstairs including the Master and the "dormer-room" with it's 8 twin beds.
The lower level may be accessed from the great room or it's own balcony, and was designed to be a complete 2-bedroom apartment. It offers a family room, a second full kitchen and two bedrooms, including one with the "turret" designed panoramic views.
Built in 2004, this custom lake home has an inviting open floorplan so often lacking in older lake homes. Over 5,000 sq ft of living space, 7 sleeping areas (6 Large Bedrooms plus the huge Dormer room with 8 twin beds), 4 Full Baths, 3 Full Kitchens.
The main floor kitchen is enormous and very well appointed with virtually every appliance and accessory imaginable. It's not an over statement to call it "gourmet."
Pier 382 is the perfect destination for large family gatherings. The enormous great room w/cathedral ceiling and fireplace is often the center point for the day or evenings activities. The wall of lake side windows offer spectacular views of the lake, and the dining area is set up for large groups and is ideal for meals or games. Just off the great room is the spacious main level balcony. The perfect place to catch all the lakeside action, with Adirondak chairs overlooking the lake and the dining area is perfect for outdoor meals or activities. There is also a power awning that covers the balcony dining table to give you a break from the sun.
The lower level was designed to serve as a 2 Bedroom apartment, w/ Full Bath and Full kitchen w/ Breakfast bar, family room and private balcony. This area creates that "someplace else" to read, nap or just get away for a bit. Just outside this area is the Lower-level Balcony, which has a 6-person bar w/ LP Fire Ring overlooking the lakeside patio.
Lakeside patio has a new upholstered seating area, Adirondack chairs, lounge chairs. We just added a 2nd propane "fire ring" for lake side patio, perfect for those cool evenings. Plenty of room to sit, lounge or sun by the lake.
Syracuse Lake and the surrounding area is perfect for, swimming, boating, fishing, sailing, golfing or just relaxing. The lake is beautiful, the water so clean and clear you can see the sandy lake bottom and even fish swimming by from the balcony above. The lake bottom around our pier in particular is very sandy and shallow out to about the 4th or 5th section which provides a wonderful shallow swimming/wadding area for kids and grown-ups a like. Past the 4th section of pier, it starts dropping off to about 6-7 feet deep at the end of the pier. Our pier is a bit longer than most and guests are welcome bring their own boat or rent from local marinas, a few of which will drop off and pick up at the pier.
Syracuse Lake is connected to Lake Wawasee via a channel that goes under the rather low rail bridge on the south side of the lake. NOTE: Guests wishing to boat between the lakes should inquire first, as some boats will not fit under the rail bridge. Both of our speed boats fit under most of the year, but pontoon boats typically will not.
Syracuse lake is an "all sports" lake meaning "speed boats" and water skiing Jet Skis and tubing are allowed. Growing up, Doug's family had a home on Wawasee, but we regularly went to Syracuse Lake preferring it's calmer waters for skiing and tubing.
The North shore of Syracuse Lake is known for its meticulously maintained properties, many of which overlook the lake from a hill. (We like to think of it as the "better part" of the lakes....but we might be biased :) ...or... we might be right ;) haha
The town of Syracuse and the surrounding area are quite charming and offer a multitude of activities and attractions.
Pier 382 is not primarily a rental property, and we won't rent to anyone simply because they have the money. This is our family lake home, and we take pride in maintaining it at that level for both ourselves and our guests. We cater to large families and corporate guests needing a property that can comfortably accommodate up to 20 guests. Doug personally greats all guests at the property. We chose to rent to help offset expenses and because we can't use it all the time, but we are not looking to simply book as many stays as possible.
All the beds and mattresses were purchased new in 2022-23 and are covered with quality linens. We have a great team of housekeepers that understand our standards and work hard to maintain the level of cleanliness we and our guests expect. Please look at our reviews, I ask many guests...
