Our duplex home is in a residential neighborhood - minutes from downtown, the Pearl District, and Portland's old-school Nob Hill. Our location is a perfect launching pad for all that Portland offers: great restaurants, our famous food truck scene, and the Pacific Northwest outdoors.

Our rental is in a duplex next door to full-time residents in a quiet residential neighborhood- just a few miles from the city center. Easy access to the mountains or beach - only 90 minutes in either direction.

Recently the home was updated from top to bottom with our future guests in mind. We are set up to provide a great night’s sleep. We have super comfy mattresses, high-count cotton sheets, fluffy down comforters, and pillows. Each bathroom is stocked with thick cotton towels, soaps, and shampoo. Take a long shower or soak in the tub - you have access to both!
Here for work, we have a nice workspace set up in the primary bedroom with task lighting and a large desk. Or you can spread out in the dining room. High-speed internet is available throughout the home.
If you need to do a load of laundry, we have a washer and dryer on site and plenty of soap. A small iron and ironing board are also on-site to freshen up your packed clothes.
Our home is a great place to connect with your local family and feel like part of the community. We are located near Portland's prestigious St Vincent’s Hospital and the home is a perfect place to support a loved one - just a short drive or walk away.

This is not a party house or a place for large gatherings. We are respectful of our full-time residents and have quiet hours in place from 10 pm - 7 am. Ring camera enforced.

Located within walking distance to downtown Portland and convenient to the Pearl district, this romantic private suite is appointed with all of the luxuries found in a fine hotel. There is also a communal deck with mountain and river views available for your use when the weather permits.
A queen sized bed in the main bedroom sleeps two but there is also another queen sized sofa bed in another room along with all the bedding needed. A small kitchenette and a sitting room with a counter for your electronics serves as a breakfast table. Sunny Stanhope Cottage is a sunny, spacious 120 year old Dutch Colonial Duplex in the beautiful, peaceful, historic Portland Heights neighborhood overlooking downtown Portland.

We are located in a quiet historic neighborhood, surrounded by nature, with plenty of space to go on walks and bike riding but close to downtown and restaurants. Bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks and deer can be spotted as well as many song birds. With our two outdoor decks and large kitchen and living room it is a perfect place to relax with your family.

The duplex is only 5 minutes (just over a mile) to the shops, restaurants and cafes of the Alphabet District (NW 23rd), downtown and Pearl. Close to OHSU and PSU. The 1400 square foot lower duplex is available year round for stays up to 5 weeks and features an open floor plan, two decks with site views up to Council Crest, southern exposure for sun all day long, two bedrooms with queen beds, a fold down couch bed for one more person in the living room, a beautiful dinning room for 8 people, a fully equipped kitchen (perfect for home cooked meals) and a very large living room. Great for family gatherings for holidays, showers, weddings, graduation, etc.

Please note that the bedrooms are organized in a tandem layout with a hall to the bathroom between them. So our place is better for single couples, families and groups of friends than for two unrelated couples who may want privacy during sleep hours. Per city regulation our max occupancy is 5 overnight.

The immediate neighborhood offers excellent walking, jogging and biking along tree lined streets filled with beautiful old Portland homes. Council Crest (Portland's highest point) and Washington Park Rose Garden are 20 minutes by foot. The Vista Spring Cafe is a 5 minute walk away and close to the bus stop for line 51.

The duplex also features a 7 foot Mason Hamlin Piano which is available to serious pianists with advance notice. A guitar is available to all. Keith and Rocio are your hosts. We live in the upper duplex. We are quiet and work full time but friendly and helpful if you need us. House is equipped with a stereo and smart tv with basic cable only (bring your books or tablet for streaming) and it has central heat and air conditioning via our new heat pump. Summers in Oregon tend to not be very hot with low humidity. We also provide both fans and space heaters in addition to the heat pump.

- "Ok" - "Tucked away in a lovely culdesac, beautiful little house with a lovely flower laden deck, very comfy and cozy for a small family. Nice kitchen with all necessary appliances for anyone who wants to cook. Not to mention a beautiful piano if you play. Hosts were accomodating and available, even while away on vacation themselves. Take in to account single lane driveway, so if you have your own car you'll need to coordinate parking with the host. Also, as a family of 5 we had enough beds, but not enough storage for clothes, etc. Overall the setting is beautiful and the house is lovely and I would highly recommend it."

More about the apartment: The kitchenette is equipped with microwave, induction cooktop, electric kettle, toaster, electric cooker, rice cooker and small refrigerator. Ideal for self catering. The newly remodelled and decorated sitting room and master bedroom are spacious and both give onto a lovely deck overlooking Forest Park. The queen bed is firm with a pillow top with hotel-quality organic bamboo sheets. The bathroom has a bath/shower combination with rainfall shower head, bath towels are made of organic cotton, and heated towel rack. An optional Japanese-style room is available for an additional $50/night and can accommodate another couple or allow for two singles who wish to have their own bedroom, or just as an add-on space to relax and/or meditate. We have also recently installed a two-person infra-red sauna to relax tired muscles and add to your overall well-being which is available upon request for an additional $20 per usage. Only minutes from the hustle and bustle of town, with easy access to Portland's many parks and trails, the suite offers a peaceful retreat for reflection and relaxation whether you are visiting on business, pleasure or both. The house sits on a beautifully wooded hillside above Portland. She has converted the lower level into a serene retreat complete with a private balcony that made a great spot for morning coffee. The interior is spacious, very comfortably furnished, and accented with interesting artworks. Mary-Yoko welcomed us and suggested a few restaurants as well as hiking trails nearby, one of which house we took shortly after arriving. We found everything we needed in the apartment. We were pleasantly surprised that a place that felt so removed from city bustle, could be so close to city amenities. Very convenient. We loved it and would stay there again in a flash given the chance."

Mere blocks to Council Crest Park which has a 360 degree view and the popular Fairmont loop for walking or biking. Bus route 51 to downtown Portland and Hillsdale. Most will prefer a car to get around because our neighborhood is hilly. Lyft and Uber are readily available. One parking space available (no oversized vehicles, trailers or campers, max 18').

Accessibility:
Our VRBO is one level with no stairs or steps, from parking to throughout the unit. Flat and paved from parking to front door. Entry gate, front door, access to living, dining and kitchen are all wider than 32", bedroom door 29", and bathroom has 23" door. Bathroom grab bars in shower and next to toilet, for your convenience and safety.

This unit is larger than average for a one bedroom, but we request parties of 1-2 people. Three people can be accommodated, but there is an additional $20 fee per night. Additionally the pullout sofa is a twin size (not full) and does crowd the end of the king bed when opened. If you let me know in advance, I can set the bedroom up with the sofa-bed in a roomier position, and leave it all ready for use (see pics of alternate bedroom setup). Sofa-bed is most appropriate for a child age 5-16 or a smaller adult.

We take cleanliness seriously. This unit is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between each guest. We make sure our unit is spotless every time. We put a double layer of pillow cases on all bed pillows. The bed duvet cover and main sofa covers are also double covered and washed every time. Cleaning supplies are included or inquire if you’d like the unit cleaned mid stay for $85 (offered for stays longer than 10 days).

Unit is ground floor of home. A home which has pets and teens, so some noise should be expected. Cleaning of upstairs unit every Friday at 9:00 AM for example creates some noise. Note, if you are very allergic, cats and dog on floor above unit. We must welcome official service animals, but not companion or comfort animals. We prefer to keep the unit pet/allergen free.

*The kitchen is large and brand new but could be considered a kitchenette as it doesn't have a full-size oven. Cooks need not fear, this kitchen is completely stocked with the chef in mind. Unit is equipped with a large microwave, premium convection/toaster oven, top-rated double burner hot plate, electric griddle, crockpot, waffle iron, blender and more!

Please note only the bedroom has central heating and AC, it's controlled upstairs and doesn't have a thermostat in the unit. The rest of the unit is heated by the gas fireplace insert. It starts with the flick of a switch and has a built-in fan, on high it really puts out the heat. In the summer the apartment stays naturally cool and receives AC from above.

Recreational cannabis is permitted on the patio only, no smoking or vaping of any kind allowed in the house. Tobacco use is prohibited in all areas. Absolutely no parties, gatherings or loud noise allowed.

We are here most of the time, but your privacy and independence are assured. We mainly interact via the app or text, but are happy to meet in person. Feel free to ask for a tour or contactless check-in, we want you to feel comfortable. We respond to questions/requests in a timely manner.

During your stay:
Please leave your shoes at the door. The unit should be left in basically the same state as you found it. Do not move furniture. Please try to be gentle with our apartment from the appliances to the walls, we hope you treat it with care. Please keep noise down between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM in our residential neighborhood. Absolutely no parties or late-night gatherings/noise. No illegal drug use. No illegal internet use.

Patio and yard are exclusively for your enjoyment during your stay, except when our yard maintenance person is working. This usually happens in the afternoon on Friday or Saturday, but can change without notice. Additionally there is a sprinkler system that will go off periodically during the dry months.

Fire pit supplies are not included (do not use wood at the end of patio). Fire kits are available for $15.00. Do not start fires after 8:00 PM. Do not add wood after 8:00 PM. Occasionally there may be a burn ban during the late summer months. If this is the case we will inform you via app message and no open fires may be lit. Weber Charcoal Grill may still be used with store bought charcoal during these events.

Portland trash service is only every other week, 6:00 AM Mondays. Please secure all trash in well tied bags. I will give you a heads up if you're here during trash week. Recycling should go out every Sunday, for early Monday morning pickup.

Please remember this is not a hotel stay. You'll be staying in our home as respected and valued guests. We expect you to be respectful to us, our home & yard and our neighborhood. Thank you so much, your host Melissa

Check out instructions:
1. Please put all dirty towels including bathmat into washing machine, but do not start.
2. Please put all dirty dishes including rack from sink in dishwasher and start it.
3. Please strip bed(s) and pile dirty linens in front of the washer/dryer.
4. Please make sure all trash is bagged and in the outside trash receptacle (trash bags securely tied shut).
5. Recycling should be gathered in preferably a paper bag or box. Glass needs to be sorted separately.
6. All windows closed and locked.
7. Door locked, with keys in the lockbox.
