- "We loved this place. It's a fantastic location close to Crater Lake. Although our cabin was close to the road it wasn't too noisy and the facilities inside surprised us. The bathroom was fine with a decent shower and the room facilities quite adequate. We stayed in cabin 9 which had 2 beds - a small double and a single, fridge and microwave and air conditioning, which was very welcome, if a little noisy. The outside seating area was lovely and the ice cream shop across the road not to be missed! We stayed on a Monday so couldn't visit Beckies cafe sadly, as it is not open Mondays. There are many walking options from the site but it's only a short drive to Crater Lake and ideal to get an early start there."

- "Got there an hour early for check in and wanted to get a nap from the drive. Called Patrick and he let us go in early. Very nice layout, and everything was in order to just enjoy the room. I have zero complaints except that late in the evening, we did notice some ants in the bathroom, getting in from somwhere. I understand that that they can be a nuisance, but if checked and sprayed it can be controlled. Luckily we did not have any food loose that they could not get into. I would recommend this place if you want peace and quiet, and to be left alone. Patrick dropped off Breakfast around 8:30 am, and it was just enough to fill the belly before we left. Increase the check out time to 11am like hotels would be my only pet peeve."

Fishing, Swimming, Hiking - all available at our lovely mother-in-law cottage located on 6 acres along the Kalama River. Cottage has outdoor deck that spills our onto the river front. Site has multiple river access and walking path. The unit is nicely decorated with living area, dining, bedroom with queen bed and loft with double bed. Property is 4 miles from the town of Kalama where there are multiple restaurants and antique shops. Special events can be hosted at site.

The space
We are along a pristine fishing river with over 1500 lineal feet of river bank. In the summer there is swimming and great floats down this river. Fire pits, outdoor decks and river access makes this a wonderful spot to spend a few days to unwind and enjoy the outdoors. We can also provide fishing guide service along the river.

Guess will have access to two parking spaces. Site also has outdoor deck with seating, fire pit and bar-b-que.

Other things to note
This is a get away outdoor retreat, soooooo no cable tv, very little if any WiFi. So enjoy the river and scenery! This year our hens are fully grown so fresh eggs are available most days - check the refrigerator in stall labeled "Eggs". Also we will be starting our garden this year - so fresh veggies and herbs will be available for your stay during growing season. Let us know if you want a fishing guide or places to hike. St Helens is a wealth of hiking availability. Lastly we are on septic so only toilet paper down the toilet please. Enjoy unplugged!

The space
A Sunny Outlook is one of many, scattered, private accommodations on our 2.5 acre Retreat. Each one is spaced adequately to provide plenty of privacy but also a sense of safety for our guests who are not used to experiencing our very dark rural nights. Unless you have an event contract with us which includes the entire complex, all outdoor areas are shared with other guests.

Wildlife abounds and the views from this waterfront cabin are just the thing to melt your cares away. You'll come away inspired AND relaxed.

Our location truly is the perfect and affordable getaway for adventurous guests seeking a centralized accommodation, within a short drive from Portland or Seattle, who are looking to explore the Washington Coast and Long Beach, Astoria and Seaside Oregon, Mt. St. Helens and the Ape Caves, Beaver Creek Falls, as well as the the historic and scenic Port of Kalama with fun new shopping and tourist attractions.

🚽 A Unique Bathroom Experience—The Cedar Loo! 🚽
We want you to love your stay, and that means making sure you’re comfortable with our eco-friendly, waterless Cedar Loo toilet in the adjacent outhouse. It’s simple to use and saves thousands of gallons of water each year. But let’s be real—if you’re expecting a traditional flush toilet, this might not be the right rental for you.

👉 How it works? Sit, do your business, toss in a handful of cedar chips, and close the lid. Once a day (or as needed), simply lift out the bag, tie it shut, and place it in the designated outdoor bin. A fresh bag will be ready to go—no extra setup needed!

❌ If the idea of this type of toilet makes you uneasy, we totally understand! We’d rather you book a place that meets your expectations than be surprised upon arrival. As an alternative, please do inquire about the availability of our other accommodations onsite that do have flushing toilets.

My Tiny Creekside Retreat in Longview WA is a rural accommodation and mini-event center. If you intend to cook during your stay, we recommend that you stop by one of the many convenient grocery stores on your way to check in. Please note that although there is no cell service in our canyon, enabling wifi-calling on your phone will provide a better-than-equivalent signal via our recently upgraded router and service.

Please note that although the Outlook does have wifi and charging outlets available in an adjacent bathroom, there is no heat or electricity in the cabin itself. If you would prefer to stay in one of our other unique accommodations that does have electricity, please ask for availability.

Pet and Animal Policy:
Recently we have updated this listing and no longer allow pets in this accommodation. If you would like to bring yours, please inquire about our many other accommodations on site which do allow animals.
In the best interest of transparency, our pet policy is only noted here so all guests on site understand the expectations of visiting animals and their owners; including service animals.
1. To ensure everyone's safety, all animals must remain leashed when outside. No exceptions.
2. We have a no-animals-on-the-furniture policy. That includes beds and lofts too!
3. Our limit is 1 pet per stay, unless we've chatted and made special arrangements.
4. Cat lovers, bring your own litter box along for your feline friends.
5. We've got you covered with pet waste bags—please use them for clean-ups, every single time.
6. We're all about quality time together, so no leaving furry friends solo in the home; even in a crate.
7. Oopsie moments happen! If they do, there are handy cleaning supplies under the sink.
8. A daily sweep of the house will do wonders, and is required, to keep fur from taking over.
9. Guests at our Creekside Cottage, we've set up a pup relief area on the side of the house (with a sign!) to save the lawn. Feel free to use it, or any other spot on the property except the front lawn.
10. During your stay may encounter our friendly young barn cats and our very tame, large, free-range bunnies outside. If your pup s prone to chasing bunnies or are particularly reactive to cats, or any unexpected outdoor critters, this is likely not a good fit for your needs.
11. Disruptive pups (uncontrollable barking, digging, etc…) will be asked to leave and will not be eligible for a refund.
12. To keep things fair and square, we now require an add on to your reservation; a fully refundable $150 security deposit, due 14 days before your stay, and processed via AirBnB Resolution Center. It's all about trust. If we all play by the rules, your deposit is returned to you. However, after any rule-bending (including extra laundry, cleaning, or upholstery work), know that it's not gonna’ come back to you. Plus, intentional rule breakers might face extra fees. Let's keep things snazzy!
