Important Note About North Cascades National Park:

We are a short 11 minute drive to the North Cascades National Park! During the winter (typically end of November/early December through April/May) part of Highway 20 and driving access to the park are closed. You are still able to get to our Cabin using Highway 20 as that section is open all year round, but you are unable to access the park. You are, however, able to drive to the entrance, park and snow shoe in if you'd like.

The part of Highway 20 that is closed is on the west side at milepost 134 at the Ross Dam Trailhead and on the east side, at milepost 171 at the Silver Star Gate, near Mazama.

An alternative hiking destination for the winter months is the Rockport State Park which is only a 4 minute drive from the cabin. You are able to purchase a day pass on your phone once you arrive.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:

As the cabin is located in a remote, secluded area, keep in mind that there are friendly neighborhood dogs that you may see around or may pop by and say hello!

It isn't often, but there could be occasional wifi outages due to weather-related reasons. We try our best to monitor these outages, and give our guests a heads up!

HOUSE RULES:

Please use acrylic wine glasses provided when near the hot tub.

Please rinse off before using the hot tub and wear the spa shoes by the front door—this helps keep the tub in great shape during your stay.

Please use doggy blankets provided when dogs are on the couch to avoid stains and the foam mattress topper for the pull out couch is only for humans.

We do ask that owners ensure that their pups don't wander onto our neighbor's properties as they have small children and their own dogs.

Guest Reviews:

Inside you'll walk into a tastefully decorated living room featuring a queen size sleeper sofa, a TV for streaming, a cozy reading corner, a shelf full of games and puzzles, and a charming wood-burning stove. The stunning new kitchen has all the tools needed to make a great meal and includes salt/pepper, oil, and spices. Step out on the deck, breathe in the fresh mountain air and marvel at your surroundings! Sip coffee, roast marshmallows, BBQ a great meal, or just listen to nearby Boulder Creek while taking in an unobstructed view of Lookout Mountain! Even though the Hideaway isn't right on the river, it sits on one of the best view lots in the park!

Cascade River Park is an off grid gated community with a mixture of stick-built homes, yurts, tiny homes, RVs, and recreational lots. Some residents live here year-round but most come to vacation. The park has a community gathering area right on the Cascade River with swings, picnic tables, and BBQ pits. Community Events are posted at Times Square.

If you continue on Cascade River Road, it will dead end in the North Cascades National Park at the Hidden Lake trailhead. There are breathtaking views just a short drive from the cabin! Or head east on HWY 20 into the main part of the national park, known for amazing river and lake fishing, hiking, and waterfalls!

Marblemount is a quaint town. It has 2 restaurants, a hotel, post office, and 2 gas stations which both carry a wide range of necessities. It is the last town with services before heading over the pass. Concrete and Sedro Woolley are the next closest towns to Marblemount with actual grocery and hardware stores but the nearest Wal-Mart or big box store is in Mt. Vernon or Burlington, about 1 hour and 15 minutes west of Marblemount so it's best to plan your stops before getting all the way to Marblemount.

Finally, guests should know that HWY 20 closes seasonally through the pass. It depends on weather but usually closes late October-mid November and reopens between April-May depending on road conditions. Marblemount is only accessible from the west side of the Cascade Mountains during the winter and 4 wheel drive is recommended to access the cabin if/when there is snow.

You are welcome to use the entire cabin and surrounding property as well as any Cascade River Park community common areas. Please respect the 15 MPH speed limit and quiet hours of the park from 10pm-7am (no generators during quiet hours).

Because this is a gated community, detailed instructions for the gate code will be sent after booking.

We live about an hour away so we probably will not have direct contact but we are more than happy to answer any pre-booking questions or questions during your stay. If you need assistance with something during your stay, please reach out and we will head up there ourselves or have a friend in the park assist.

The Cascade River Hideaway is in a rural area and is surrounded by forest lands. It is imperative that food and trash is stored inside. There is a community dumpster to dispose of trash during your stay. Please clean up food and trash outside and use grill brush on BBQ after using to prevent furry animals from coming around.
If you want to have power, you MUST RUN THE GENERATOR twice a day. An hour in the morning and an hour in the evening after 7am and before 9pm. Its easy to start. There is a remote in the kitchen window sill. Just press and hold the button until you hear the generator. If it doesn't fire right away, just wait. It will try to restart itself up to 7 more times. DO NOT REMOVE THE REMOTE FROM THE WINDOW SILL. If it gets lost, there is a $200 replacement fee. If you use the microwave/ hair dryer/appliances frequently, you may want to run the generator a bit longer. Never use the microwave and hair dryer at the same time. This will cause the breaker to pop... joys of off-grid living! Please be mindful to turn lights and other things off to preserve the battery power. Do not leave any food or garbage outside. Please turn lights off, start the dishwasher, and lock doors and windows prior to leaving. Before leaving the park, return all keys to the lockbox. There is a $100 fee for lost keys/gate card.
Smoking outside is allowed away from open doors and windows. Please use ashtray. If bringing a dog, please clean up after them (doggie doo bags provided) and keep them on a leash/cable while outside. If you go somewhere and can't take your dog with you, it must be crated when left unattended. The Upriver Bar and Taproom allow dogs on their patio seating. Before check out, please load and start the dishwasher. We will handle everything else 🙂

There is a full kitchen with a few basics like coffee filters, ziploc bags, sugar, some condiments, etc. You'll also find a washer and dryer AND detergent to clean your hiking clothes which is super nice. Fruit trees surround the house and blackberries were in abundance at the park down the street. We made a wonderful fruit salad. Communication with Daniel was great. If you're going while the road through the park is still closed or iffy because of fires, check out Rockport State Park, Howard Miller Steelhead Park, Concrete Visitor's Center, Baker Fish Trap Observation Center, Lower Baker Dam Overlook, Lake Shannon, Baker Lake with a view of Mount Baker and everything you can do in Newhalem like the Visitor's Center, hikes, the Gorge Powerhouse, Trail of the Cedars, Ladder Creek Falls, etc."

Guest access
You will have access to the whole space, including the game room in the garage and the fire pit right outside.

There is river access through the forest part of the property, but I would recommend going on the neighboring property to access the river (it's a tiny state park that consists of a boat launch and a short trail to access the riverfront with lots of rocks and riverbanks you can walk around on). In general, there is a bit more space and maintance there.
Other things to note
• Children are more than welcome to be here and it's such a fun place for them to enjoy. They'll definitely enjoy throwing rocks in the river and the games provided. But the home/property is not childproof, so keeping an eye on the kids is required (ex. home has a loft that overlooks the living room. This is a riverfront property, and the river does have a strong current.)

• Coffee bar consists of an espresso machine and grinder, as well as a French press and an electric kettle. Bring your favorite coffee beans, or enjoy the ones provided.

• Bring your own firewood! A limited amount of firewood will be provided.

Guest Reviews:

- "The property was clean and beautiful. Big windows facing to the river and I could enjoy the nature. The kitchen had everything needed and easy to use. The communication with the owner was excellent. She responded to my several inquiries very quickly, and I was always very impressed. She went extra miles to make my stay comfortable, and I thank her very much for that." - "Clean, open, updated home on the Skagit river! Porch with grill over looking the crystal blue river, basement with basketball game and pingpong, loft with reading nook and area for lounging, coffee bar alcove with Expresso + whole beans/grinder + frechpress + electric teapot, and an open family room with large windows with stunning Skagit views. Inna has done a wonderful job decorating and stocking the kitchen. Stainless steel pots/pans, modern silverware, and nice dinnerware. We hiked our whole trip but there are two TVs upstairs and wifi. Highly recommend hiking Maple Pass (7.2 miles) and Cascade Pass/Shahale Arm (12 miles) for stunning, beautiful views. Saw mountain goats at Cascade Pass and also on Blue Lake hike (4.4 miles). It takes up to 1.5 hours to get to these trailheads, but totally worth it. A closer hike, ~50min away, is Park Butte where you see the majestic Mt. Baker. No regrets staying with Inna!!"

The patio is lovely for sitting outside and enjoying the fresh air and scenery. We were minutes from the North Cascade National Park which was breathtakingly beautiful. We had a great stay." - "Great 2-night stay...wish it could have been longer. Once we settled in, really enjoyed the peaceful environment. Cabin fully equipped with everything you need. Great location for accessing both the town of Marblemount plus the North Cascades NP. - "This cabin is a dream come true. Sitting overlooking the Cascade River what can be better. Unfortunately, we were not able to get into the North Cascade Park because of fire, but still, plenty of good hikes." - "The reviews did not lie! This cabin truly possesses a magical quality. The setting is unreal—the river and mossy trees provided the perfect backdrop to a relaxing vacation near N Cascades Natl Park. We loved the wood-fired hot tub, deck, and well-appointed kitchen for making meals at home before and after hiking. The white noise from the river through the open windows was the cherry on top. The location near Marblemount was very convenient for all the hiking we did in the park. (The Cascade Pass/Sahale Arm hike was a once-in-a-lifetime hike! Do not miss!) Thanks to Kristin for her responsiveness and clear directions before and during our stay. We would love to come back someday!"

- "We are a family of 5 from the east coast. This was our first time to WA and we were welcomed with the most incredible drive in to the property down a drive with lush ferns and moss. Then you pull into the driveway and the landscape opens up to a darling cabin on the most beautiful river. Wow! The hosts were super responsive and easy to communicate with. The cabin was very clean and very well equipped with really anything you could think to need. It is evident they thought of the tiny details to make our stay that much more comfortable! We would highly recommend this cabin and if we ever find ourselves back in WA we would most definitely return!"

Cabin Mori
Cabin
Marblemount, Washington, USA

Escape to a serene Japanese-inspired off-grid cabin in Marblemount, WA, nestled in the North Cascades. This charming retreat blends traditional elegance with modern comfort. Inside, enjoy a cozy living space with a wood-burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen, and peaceful bedrooms. Outside, relax on the deck amidst towering evergreens. Perfect for families or friends seeking tranquility and nature's beauty while staying connected with modern amenities.

The space:

Cabin Mori is a charming off-grid property located 5 miles from the Marblemount town center, which means it is not connected to power supplied by an electric company. It is primarily powered by a propane generator or batteries charged by solar. Energy generated by these two sources will allow use of lights, internet (starlink), appliances, etc. Please note that we have limited to no cell service in these parts of the woods, which means you will have to download all the directions and instructions on how to find the place before your arrival - old school style. While we do have Starlink internet, it is slow and with interruptions at only around 150 mbps, so please plan to use it for your basic necessities only as features such as online streaming and video calling will not work.

The cabin is nestled in Cascade River Park, a community which will need to be accessed through a keycard operated gate. This keycard will be provided to guests via a 24/7 accessible lockbox located at a Chevron gas station in the town center on your way to the cabin - detailed check-in instructions can be found under 'Check-in Instructions' upon booking.

Once you arrive at the cabin, you will make your way up a few stone steps to the front porch and enter through with a keypad code into the vaulted ceiling great room. Here you'll find a wood burning stove to cozy up to with some books and games. A large paper lantern hanging above the antique dining table provides a mellow and warm glow under which hearty meals can be enjoyed. The cabin is also equipped with a full gas range and oven, a refrigerator, dishwasher, toaster and electric kettle. Adjacent to the kitchen is a dedicated workspace with chair and counter space.

Down the hallway you'll find two bedrooms, each with a queen size bed and pair of side tables with lamps. One bedroom enjoys a full ensuite bathroom with standing shower, while the second bathroom with tub and hand shower can easily be accessed across the hallway.

The cabin does have central heating along with a wood burning stove for added comfort. Please note that quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am - during this time the generator can not be turned on and the cabin will rely on charged batteries for power. Please be mindful of your consumption during these hours so the batteries don't run out of charge during the night.

The generator will need to be turned on and off manually using the little black and silver remote that looks like a car key. Turn it on for at least 1-2 hours before quiet hours to have enough charge for the night, and on and off in the day as needed when the batteries run out of charge and you lose power, or generally every 4-5 hours for one hour should suffice.

Cabin Mori is our first off-grid venture and a work in progress which we are looking forward to enjoying and improving with time. The cabin provides a true and authentic modern-day experience of living in the woods with limited connectivity and generators roaring in the background, but all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay that encourages slow, mindful living. We hope you will find it as rejuvenating as we do!

Guest access:

Guests will have access to the entire property and its grounds, with the exception of the laundry room and two sheds in the rear of the property which will remain locked.

Other things to note:

While we do have a fire pit area outside the cabin, but please check the park entrance board for burn ban notices as this area is at risk of forest fires, especially in the summer.

There is also a boil water notice in place at the park for drinking water. Feel free to use the electric or stovetop kettles or purchase drinking water for your stay.

Garbage at the park must be disposed of in the main park dumpster - there is no garbage collection service. This will be taken care of by the cleaners at checkout; but if you wish to dispose of any garbage during your stay, please do so at the dumpsters near the gate entry to the park. The key to the dumpsters is located in the credenza by the back door. Please return the key after use.

Please do not leave any garbage outside as wildlife does frequent the area and we do not provide any bear proof bins at this time.

For the 2nd bedroom choice, just message the host for which bedroom you like (#2, 3, 4, 0r 5), and the host will send you the unique door code for that room. Please click on the pictures to read the description for each room. Once you arrive, if you discover you'd like access to more than 2 rooms, just message the host. There is an additional fee of $75 per room per night plus an additional $75 cleaning fee.

The riverfront and path leading to it are shared with the smaller vacation home across the property. Please use extreme caution with young children. There are many potential hazards inside and out (free-standing wood fireplace, open staircase, sloped yard leading down to the slough, Hwy 20, and potentially wild animals). DO NOT attempt to swim in the Skagit River. The current is way stronger than it looks!

It is not likely we will meet in person as I live an hour away. But I am more than happy to answer any questions and help however you need. It is best to message me through your booking platform. If you have an emergency, please feel free to call me directly. Sending a text is best before calling so I know who you are, thank you!

Additionally, the restaurant hours vary depending on the season so please check with them directly if you plan to dine out. They are called Mondo's and The Upriver Taproom and Grill.

Guests should also know that HWY 20 closes seasonally through the pass. It depends on weather but usually closes late October-mid November and reopens between April-May depending on road conditions. Marblemount is only accessible from the west side of the Cascade Mountains during the winter and 4 wheel drive is recommended to access the home if/when there is snow. Feel free to message the host to inquire about snow.
-The Lodge is on a septic. Please only flush TP and no grease down the drains. Due to the septic, if you are a large group, you will want to plan showers/laundry/dishes so that the water usage is spaced out through out the day, not all at once.
-Please remove shoes while inside, especially upstairs on the new carpet.
-Quiet hours are from 10pm-7am out of respect for neighbors.
-Do not leave food trash or pet food outside as it can attract critters.
-Do not set anything on the gaming tables (drinks, snacks, etc).
-Used towels go in the black hamper in the hallway upstairs.
-In general, please treat the home with care and respect.

HOT TUB
-Shower before use.
-Children under 18 require adult supervision and absolutely no un-potty trained children are allowed.
-Make sure hot tub lid is secured with clips after use.
-Additional operating directions will be located at the home.

DOGS
-We supply doo bags, a dog bed, dog food and water bowls, and dog treats!
-If you have a dog, please clean up after them. The doo bags are near the back door and there is a trash can on the back porch.
-Dogs are not allowed on furniture out of respect for guests who do not bring dogs but there is a comfy dog bed in the living room. We do not charge extra for dogs but if there is excessive hair found on furniture, there will be an additional $50 cleaning fee added.
-If your dog has muddy paws, please wipe them with the towel provided at the back door.
-It is highly recommended that your dog be on a leash or be well trained with voice commands as the neighbor has a dog and there is currently no fence.
