Important Note About North Cascades National Park:

We are a short 11 minute drive to the North Cascades National Park! During the winter (typically end of November/early December through April/May) part of Highway 20 and driving access to the park are closed. You are still able to get to our Cabin using Highway 20 as that section is open all year round, but you are unable to access the park. You are, however, able to drive to the entrance, park and snow shoe in if you'd like.

The part of Highway 20 that is closed is on the west side at milepost 134 at the Ross Dam Trailhead and on the east side, at milepost 171 at the Silver Star Gate, near Mazama.

An alternative hiking destination for the winter months is the Rockport State Park which is only a 4 minute drive from the cabin. You are able to purchase a day pass on your phone once you arrive.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:

As the cabin is located in a remote, secluded area, keep in mind that there are friendly neighborhood dogs that you may see around or may pop by and say hello!

It isn't often, but there could be occasional wifi outages due to weather-related reasons. We try our best to monitor these outages, and give our guests a heads up!

HOUSE RULES:

Please use acrylic wine glasses provided when near the hot tub.

Please rinse off before using the hot tub and wear the spa shoes by the front door—this helps keep the tub in great shape during your stay.

Please use doggy blankets provided when dogs are on the couch to avoid stains and the foam mattress topper for the pull out couch is only for humans.

We do ask that owners ensure that their pups don't wander onto our neighbor's properties as they have small children and their own dogs.

Guest Reviews:

- "This A frame was well maintained and well stocked! Coffee options were plentiful, bathrooms included extra amenities, and the grounds were well maintained. There were games for our little one and a lovely welcome from the host. Would definitely book again!!" - "All the extras, cosy feeling, everything you need and the presentation of the place was excellent. It one of the nicest cabin getaways I've had. Enjoy views of Lookout Mountain from the deck or snuggle inside the newly renovated cabin. Relax and unwind at Cascade River Hideaway after a great day exploring the North Cascades National Park, just minutes away! This 700 sq foot cabin has been renovated top to bottom with nature's palette in mind! Inside you'll walk into a tastefully decorated living room featuring a queen size sleeper sofa, a TV for streaming, a cozy reading corner, a shelf full of games and puzzles, and a charming wood-burning stove. The stunning new kitchen has all the tools needed to make a great meal and includes salt/pepper, oil, and spices. The coffee bar is ready with K-cups or French press, hot chocolate, tea, and a variety of sweeteners and creamers. There's even a blender for smoothies and margaritas! The bathroom has a 7' tall walk-in shower, private toilet room, hair dryer, and basic toiletries (q-tips, cotton balls, shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, lotion, and soap). There is a washer & dryer for your convenience, soap and laundry pads provided. Upstairs you'll find a plush queen size bed, dresser, and a small desk with various charging ports. Step out on the deck, breathe in the fresh mountain air and marvel at your surroundings! Sip coffee, roast marshmallows, BBQ a great meal, or just listen to nearby Boulder Creek while taking in an unobstructed view of Lookout Mountain! Even though the Hideaway isn't right on the river, it sits on one of the best view lots in the park!

Cascade River Park is an off grid gated community with a mixture of stick-built homes, yurts, tiny homes, RVs, and recreational lots. Some residents live here year-round but most come to vacation. The park has a community gathering area right on the Cascade River with swings, picnic tables, and BBQ pits. Community Events are posted at Times Square.

If you continue on Cascade River Road, it will dead end in the North Cascades National Park at the Hidden Lake trailhead. There are breathtaking views just a short drive from the cabin! Or head east on HWY 20 into the main part of the national park, known for amazing river and lake fishing, hiking, and waterfalls!

Marblemount is a quaint town. It has 2 restaurants, a hotel, post office, and 2 gas stations which both carry a wide range of necessities. It is the last town with services before heading over the pass. Concrete and Sedro Woolley are the next closest towns to Marblemount with actual grocery and hardware stores but the nearest Wal-Mart or big box store is in Mt. Vernon or Burlington, about 1 hour and 15 minutes west of Marblemount so it's best to plan your stops before getting all the way to Marblemount.

Finally, guests should know that HWY 20 closes seasonally through the pass. It depends on weather but usually closes late October-mid November and reopens between April-May depending on road conditions. Marblemount is only accessible from the west side of the Cascade Mountains during the winter and 4 wheel drive is recommended to access the cabin if/when there is snow.

You are welcome to use the entire cabin and surrounding property as well as any Cascade River Park community common areas. Please respect the 15 MPH speed limit and quiet hours of the park from 10pm-7am (no generators during quiet hours).

Because this is a gated community, detailed instructions for the gate code will be sent after booking.

We live about an hour away so we probably will not have direct contact but we are more than happy to answer any pre-booking questions or questions during your stay. If you need assistance with something during your stay, please reach out and we will head up there ourselves or have a friend in the park assist.

The Cascade River Hideaway is in a rural area and is surrounded by forest lands. It is imperative that food and trash is stored inside. There is a community dumpster to dispose of trash during your stay. Please clean up food and trash outside and use grill brush on BBQ after using to prevent furry animals from coming around.
If you want to have power, you MUST RUN THE GENERATOR twice a day. An hour in the morning and an hour in the evening after 7am and before 9pm. Its easy to start. There is a remote in the kitchen window sill. Just press and hold the button until you hear the generator. If it doesn't fire right away, just wait. It will try to restart itself up to 7 more times. DO NOT REMOVE THE REMOTE FROM THE WINDOW SILL. If it gets lost, there is a $200 replacement fee. If you use the microwave/ hair dryer/appliances frequently, you may want to run the generator a bit longer. Never use the microwave and hair dryer at the same time. This will cause the breaker to pop... joys of off-grid living! Please be mindful to turn lights and other things off to preserve the battery power. Do not leave any food or garbage outside. Please turn lights off, start the dishwasher, and lock doors and windows prior to leaving. Before leaving the park, return all keys to the lockbox. There is a $100 fee for lost keys/gate card.
Smoking outside is allowed away from open doors and windows. Please use ashtray. If bringing a dog, please clean up after them (doggie doo bags provided) and keep them on a leash/cable while outside. If you go somewhere and can't take your dog with you, it must be crated when left unattended. The Upriver Bar and Taproom allow dogs on their patio seating. Before check out, please load and start the dishwasher. We will handle everything else 🙂

Guest Reviews:

- "The cabin is completely updated, clean and has everything you need. Great idea to have a pull down bed to give more floor space and it was super comfy! There is a full kitchen with a few basics like coffee filters, ziploc bags, sugar, some condiments, etc. You'll also find a washer and dryer AND detergent to clean your hiking clothes which is super nice. Fruit trees surround the house and blackberries were in abundance at the park down the street. We made a wonderful fruit salad. Communication with Daniel was great. If you're going while the road through the park is still closed or iffy because of fires, check out Rockport State Park, Howard Miller Steelhead Park, Concrete Visitor's Center, Baker Fish Trap Observation Center, Lower Baker Dam Overlook, Lake Shannon, Baker Lake with a view of Mount Baker and everything you can do in Newhalem like the Visitor's Center, hikes, the Gorge Powerhouse, Trail of the Cedars, Ladder Creek Falls, etc."
