- "Very comfortable property. Nice scenic view. We would stay here again. When asked a question, the owner was quick to respond. One note: the description did not make it clear that this is the bottom floor of a house. Everything is separate, but this should probably be clearer. We also had to ask about the refrigerator. Adding a picture of that would help. "

Essay by Susan F. - an 85 year old guest of the Studio:
…an aerie hanging in the treetops above a lake…
From the Lakeside dock:
Truly. Toad Lake has polliwogs.
A brown duck (which?) dashes for brush-cover. Two tiny ducklings follow her. (Are they really running across the surface?) They leave spidery wakes.
Dragonflies hover, dart. Butterflies flutter, alight, open, close. Yellow Irises cluster.
A woman suns on an inner-tube. A woman swims laps. A man, standing in the lake, plays fetch-a-stick with two paddling dogs.
A kayaker. Another kayaker with a fishing rod.
On the far shore, any time of day, people are fishing. Slanting light makes colors fluorescent: blue (beach chair), orange (vest), red (SUV), all repeated upside-down in the lake surface.
Bald eagles glide high above. Another raptor (which?) soars.
Swallows (which?) are skimming.
Robins and song sparrows are singing everywhere. More birdsong. (Whose?)
Timeless northwest forest trees that taper, are mirrored on the lake’s surface as wavering blocks of modern art.
Eight Canada geese form a flotilla and head to the far shore, reconnoiter on land, then slowly make their way to the small decaying raft beside us on the pier. They nibble at the covering of green growth and then depart. The geese have left the raft unstable. Untethered, it floats slowly into the middle of the lake. And then, where?
An alligator (?) with brilliant gold eyes drifts to the middle of the lake, then hides on the far side. He is retrieved by kayak, - that thrilling, life-size, plastic alligator head that was meant to keep the geese away.
From the Dwelling:
Look down on the top-feathers of swallows (which?), turned golden in the sun.
Catch sight of two young bucks with furred stubs of antlers strolling down the driveway.
Later, read by lamplight in chairs before the fireplace. One book can be passed between the two of you to share, reading aloud.
Sleep on a queen-size perfect mattress.
Brew morning coffee and take the morning easy in
an aerie hanging in the treetops above a lake
- "The place was comfortable and had a beautiful view of the lake." - "We loved staying here! Beautiful lake front property and very comfortable bed." - "Overall, we had a good experience. Cute studio with a great view. The bed was comfortable, bathroom was large and kitchen had what we needed. The only negatives would be that there were other guests in the unit above. This was a little annoying for us at times but all in all wasn't an issue. Also, the upstairs unit controls the thermostat. Again, it was not an issue for us but just something we would have liked to have known in advance. We enjoyed using the peddle boat and the gift basket was a nice touch."

High Ceilings and Large windows make this home a place where the weight of the world fades away.
There is one bedroom with a queen bed, one queen size sleeper sofa (with a gel mattress) in the great room as well as a blow up queen mattress. A great place for two to six for a fun weekend.
My 'Girly Industrial' house theme is expressed in the pink accents, hand painted black peonies on the grey concrete floors to the truss joist with car-decking for the ceiling creating a loft like space.
I put in 'old lady' steps to easily get into the water off the dock so more are able to enjoy the lake on a hot day.
My house is designed for accessibility no curb for the shower 36 inch wide doors and it is all on one level. I brought my friend who is in a wheel chair for a weekend and she was happy to be so independent. For further details please call.
I am not always at a computer ( I am somewhat of a luddite) so my response time is not instant. I am at my computer on Mondays. Please feel free to call if time is of the essence. that is the best way to reach me.
- "The Lake House is right on the shore of Lake Samish. The architecture, art, location, and amenities are fantastic. Close to everywhere we wanted to explore and a great place to hang out and relax after our adventures." - "What a fantastic rental! Right on the lake with beautiful view. Jennifer was an incredible host. Great open interior. We will definitely be back. If you are there in April you must visit the tulip farms nearby, truly breathtaking."

This large apartment is the lower level of the main house. It is completely separate with its own entrance and a slider that opens to the patio area. We are happy to share access to the rest of our beautiful property. Its a great place to hang out and have fun with many areas available for yard games or hanging out by a fire.
The rental is beautifully remodeled and very spacious yet cozy. Both bedrooms have queen beds, plus a third sleeping area with an IKEA couch that makes into a queen bed. The open concept kitchenette/living area is great for families and small groups. The kitchenette does not include a range/oven, but we have included appliances to make it easy to cook simple meals. These include an induction burner, a counter top convection oven/roaster, griddle, crock-pot, microwave and small toaster oven. The kitchen includes a full sink, an apartment size refrigerator, and plenty of counter space. Plus there is access to the grill. We proudly provide locally roasted coffee and locally blended teas.
Loni and I live in the upper level of the house and have our own entrances and upper deck. Most of the time we will be available for help, questions or even a chat. We understand if you like your privacy and will do our best to respect that, but if you would like to pick a locals brain we are always happy to share a beverage together.
Our neighborhood is conveniently situated to be close to many options. We are 4.5 miles to downtown Bellingham, 1 mile to Lake Whatcom and Toad Lake, and close to Mt Baker Hwy for access to mountain activities. Plus there are parks and trails nearby for walks, hikes and mountain biking. We are very lucky to have 5 acres so close in town. Its our little oasis in the middle of the neighborhood.

Each bedroom includes a King sized bed, a sofa bed or couch, 43" screen tv, wifi. Extra guest fee for groups of greater than 2 people.
- "Lovely space. My 17 year old appreciated having a room with a television to himself. The adults appreciated the wide variety of games, generously outfitted kitchen, and super comfy bed. The hosts were responsive and easy to communicate with. The tradeoff is that it's in more of a commercial than a neighborhood setting, but it was an easy walk to greenspace and a neighborhood with cafes. We really loved staying here, thank you!" - "Very nice clean place to stay! Spacious and the beds are very comfortable!"

- "Loved it" - "I would highly recommend Josh’s yurt! He was very personable and the check in process was easy. The yurt was very cozy, even in the winter! We were very surprised with how comfortable the pull out bed was, and the blankets were exceptionally cozy. The location was really close to things. The only suggestion I would have is a stool to put down the outside roller-blinds on the yurt. We didn’t even realize there were blinds until half way into our stay, and then we couldn’t reach them. That’s a very small thing compared to all the greatness of this stay, though!"

- "This place is all about the view. You walk in the front door and it's all you can focus on. The expansive deck was great for lounging on, drink in hand, at the end of a busy day of sightseeing. The kitchen was really well stocked for a rental and we enjoyed cooking meals here. The location was fantastic. Minutes from town but feels like you're in the country. My only quibble is that the furnishings were a little spartan (no bedside table lamps), but overall a great place."

- "Just great!" - "It was a terrific place! The tent is big inside and the fire pit area is so nice. It’s surrounded by trees so nice and private yet a short drive to Bellis Fair Mall. I loved the lighting in the site. The owners were terrific and supplied just about everything we needed for glamping! We were able to use the grill for cooking which was perfect. We got to enjoy the experience of camping while being able to go to Woods for morning coffee then to day excursions like to Larrabee State Park, Fairhaven and Birch Bay. One of the best parts is being able to go home and not need to pack up a tent and everything. So easy! We’d definitely go back! Great stay!!"

- "Our stay was great for a long weekend near Bellingham. My husband loves to cook so the kitchen was perfect and the view is amazing." - "The house and view are gorgeous. Everything was fantastic, from the cleanliness to the furniture. We had a great time and would rent this property anytime again." - "Only comment is I wish the hot tub worked." - "We absolutely were impressed with the house, which was clean, well decorated, an amazing kitchen with updated appliances, comfortable beds and a wonderful view of the lake and hills. We had no problems at all and we felt lucky to have had a sunny day, but even on the rainy days it was beautiful. The deck is massive and we dined outside two nights. This is a great place for a getaway for friends, families, or romance. I rent vrbo places 4 to 5 times per year, and this was one of my favorites. I plan to stay again in the future."

Enjoy a stay in our peaceful 1 bedroom cabin style tiny house. Tiny House 2 is located on our 6 acre property surrounded by ponds, trees and wildlife. Our property is centrally located between Bellingham, Deming and Everson. The central location is great for a stop on the way to Mt Baker, or to attend a wedding at The Deming Logging Show. Tiny House 2 stays cozy in the fall and winter after skiing and has a window AC unit for a quick cool down after hiking in the North Cascades during the summer. Although small, you will have everything you need for a quiet unplugged getaway. Currently there is no WIFI available, but come for a visit and enjoy the peace and quiet!
- "This not so tiny home was just right for my husband and myself. It was a quiet and peaceful escape from our busy life. From the outside it looks like the wild West, and inside it was rustic but clean and well-appointed. Comfy bed! The only thing missing was a microwave, but the toaster oven was great. We enjoyed taking a stroll around the grounds, and then watched Princess Bride!"

- "What a wonderful stay— even if it was just overnight my partner and I were so in love with how cozy the space was on a cold PNW winter day. We ended up getting oysters at Taylor’s Shellfish and the drive up to Fairhaven was 10 minutes. The view out to Chuckanut Island is perfect and there’s minimal external noise. 10/10 especially since many friends recognize the dome and being able to say you stayed in it feels special :)" - "Thank you for sharing your amazing place with us! Our luxurious custom built treehouse includes a hot tub, a home movie theater, a large deck with a fire table, and breathtaking 360 views. It's the perfect location for a romantic getaway, vacation with loved ones, or ultimate productivity among the peace of the forest & waterfall.
Because of our unique location ALL guests must sign a waiver. No children or pets allowed.
Guest access:
Guests have full access to the entire treehouse and deck.
We plan to give you space during your stay, and are available when needed.
Other things to note:
***Please read these key notes about staying in the treehouse before your arrival. Booking with us may not be for everyone.
-Staying at Bellingham Treehouse is a unique experience. You are in a house in the trees (not on ground) and when there is a breeze, you may hear a noise like faint thumping. Please do not be alarmed. You are safe! This is a natural part of the treehouse experience. In order for the two large Douglas fir trees to move independently, the treehouse is engineered to slide between them. The treehouse is properly permitted and engineered.
-We are a smoke free, pet free treehouse that uses hypoallergenic and eco friendly laundry detergent. If you have allergies or sensitivities to smells, feel free to reach out and we will do our best to accommodate you.
-Parties, gatherings, and photo shoots are not allowed.
-Smoking, candles, incense and open flames of any kind are not permitted.
-Please keep doors locked while away.
-We are located amongst the peace of the forest and waterfall, however, you can also hear highway noise from the deck and hot tub. Inside, with the windows closed, you can not hear any noise.
-Bellingham Treehouse is located at the top of a steep hill. The hill is paved and we generally plow it in the chance of snow. This may not always be possible, however, in which case a 4WD/AWD vehicle is recommended. There is also an option to park at the bottom of the hill and walk 5 minutes up the hill to the treehouse. We are also usually available to shuttle guests up/down if need be.
-Complimentary EV charging 10am to 5pm.
220 Volts, 12-35 miles per hour.
Please reach out for more information.
- "We loved this spot. The waterfall right outside of the treehouse was amazing. The hot tub was wonderful. The coffee was great. The interior was beautiful! The only complaint would be that I didn’t notice until after we had booked that the bed is a pull out couch. I would have hesitated before purchase had I known that. We slept alright, but the pull out couch was a little creaky when adjusting in the night. Even with that, we would TOTALLY consider staying here again. It was a relaxing spot to enjoy nature and each others company."

The "Aloha Suite" is the name we have given our guest room attached to the south end of our garage. It is a separate building near our home and shop buildings. The room's decor is tropical, with, we hope, the spirit of "aloha" present.
The space
When our home was being built, we lived in the "Aloha Suite", a separate space on the south end of our garage. Since we moved into our home, the suite has been a haven for many guests. In the main room there are: a comfortable Serta queen sized bed, reading chair, small dining table and chairs, bookshelves with reading material of local and travel interest, yoga mat, and TV with Direct TV satellite channels (and instructions), and a Blu-ray player. In the bathroom there is a shower; and towels and robes are provided.
The "kitchenette": This nook in the corner of the main room contains a small refrigerator/freezer, glasses and dishes, basic food preparation items, electric tea kettle, "personal" blender, a choice of two coffee makers, a wide slot toaster, and a microwave. It is not a true kitchen equipped for lots of cooking and dish washing. We are happy to provide the use of our oven and to wash your dishes as needed. There is a laundry sink in the garage for washing large items. We have a barbecue grill on the porch that you may use.
It is possible to move the furniture to accommodate a sleeping pad for another person or a baby bed. On request, we can provide an iron and ironing board. We also have a selection of movies and board games you are welcome to borrow.
Guest access
You will have access to the entire suite, which has its own entrance and key. In addition, on our covered front porch, we have an infrared sauna which you are welcome to use in mild weather. Or, you can just sit in the garden, on the porch, or around the fire bowl patio and relax.
Other things to note
Since the "Aloha Suite" is attached to the garage, you may hear the garage doors opening and closing when we go somewhere. We can let you know when we have to leave early (usually Saturday morning), or come home late if you think the sound may disturb you. (Most people say that it doesn't bother them.)
You might be greeted by our dog Cali, and Jake who lives next door. Both may bark, but they are very friendly!

Spacious-yet-cozy forest nook — great for reading on the couch with a cup of tea, cooking a meal, taking a hot shower or bath with epsom salts, even doing laundry if you need. And of course sleeping really well in the comfy bed.
We're secluded in the trees of the Chuckanut mountains, the last house on a long gravel driveway, with a seasonal waterfall and plenty of trees on our five acres.
The space
Your space is an in-law unit atop the carport — fully self-contained. You'll have access to a small back porch, and are welcome to explore everything in front of the house, including a garden and some big, beautiful trees.
We do have internet! (Which is relatively new for us and, clearly, quite exciting.)
Oh and hi, neighbor! We're in the main house — "we" being Liam and Amy, our outgoing four-year-old son, Jonah, and our husky, Rain. Rain is a loving, surprisingly mellow most of the time, dog, but he is a big fella and not reliable around other animals thus our no pet policy.
We do operate one more Airbnb space here: the small apartment on the bottom floor of our main house, which is much smaller. Search "sweet cozy guesthouse" to find that one or www.airbnb/h/chuckanut-guesthouse
Guest access
You will need to climb stairs to reach the apartment as it is located above a carport.
Other things to note
Phone reception: AT&T, Cricket, and T-Mobile tend to have reliable service, while Verizon is a bit more touch and go.
IF YOU'RE BOOKING IN THE WINTERTIME, PLEASE READ! When there's snow, the driveway can be impassable unless you have a 4WD rig and/or snow tires and chains. We do plow our private driveway when it snows but still, weather depending, it can be quite slick with compact snow and/or ice.

This private little cottage makes a great getaway destination. Enjoy a quiet retreat with serene views of a pond and nature. Relax by the gas stove after a day of skiing, biking or exploring Bellingham. Read a book on the deck while the blue heron fishes or deer stroll through to eat fallen apples.
Situated on 5 acres, explore the grounds or cozy up in your guest cottage located across the yard from the main house.
The space
While we are only 4 miles to downtown Bellingham you will feel like you are in the country. The space is perfect for a couples get away or for a solitary retreat. The property is shared by the owners, but with 5 acres there is lots of room for solitude.
We are pet friendly and ask that you let us know if you plan to bring yours. We have pets ourselves and like to know ahead so there are no surprises. Please see “other things to note” for more details.
Guest access
Guests have the cottage and back deck to themselves. The rest of the 5 acres outdoor areas are shared spaces and we encourage people to explore and use the different yards or trails.
Other things to note
We are pet friendly and like our guests to be able to travel with their pets as we also like to travel with ours. We ask that your pet is well potty trained and that you keep a close eye out for potential marking. Since other pets have visited there is that extra temptation from even the most well trained dog to mark an area. We charge $25/pet for the duration of your stay. Thanks!

Please be sure to read the ***Additional Property Rules*** prior to booking to ensure you have a relaxing and successful stay.
Here are some of the "Other" details from the "Additional Property Rules" that may impact your decision to book with us:
1. No visitors are allowed - there might be very few exceptions but please make sure you discuss this with us prior to booking if it might affect your stay.
2. No additional heating appliances can be plugged in/or utilized - the guesthouse is on a small breaker system and cannot withstand electric plugin heaters - we are happy to help you adjust the propane fireplace/heating as needed.
3. Septic system: we are on an older septic system and it's critical that you do not flush anything other than toilet paper and also ensure that no grease or food stuffs go down the kitchen drain (there's no garbage disposal).
