This is an old Victorian Apt in a Triplex house. Entry in the from the back parking lot. It has one bed room with a Queen bed, kitchen with gas stove and dishwasher, bath with clawfoot tub/shower and a stackable washer/drier.
Wood and marble flooring throughout. One off street parking spot is included. It is a very short walk downtown and very convenient to all shops and services.
Please note: The apartment is located on Mission St (hwy 1) and has some traffic noise. If you are looking for a quiet place, this is not the spot.

Cowells Surfside is a clean, one- bedroom apartment located two houses from West Cliff, behind a main house and above the detached garage. Surrounded by plants and a garden it has beautiful views of the Monterey Bay, Boardwalk, Santa Cruz Wharf and Santa Cruz Mountains. The apartment has bamboo floors, granite counters and large sunny windows. The living room has a pullout sleeper sofa making space for children or additional guests. There are plenty of linens and towels along with a stocked kitchen. Included with your stay are two beach cruisers, boogie boards and beach chairs. The deck has a working gas grill for outdoor cooking. It’s a perfect get away for a couple of small family.
The apartment gives you walking access to many beaches, great surf spots, the Boardwalk and SC Wharf, wine tasting and shopping. Athletes have been renting here for years to have easy access to triathlons, surf contests and other races. Families love it for the proximity to the Boardwalk and downtown. Travelers return every summer and fall to enjoy the fun and beauty of our town.

- "My wife, two daughters (4 and 2), and I recently spent 4 days at West Cliff Hideaway. Simply put, this place has charm, attention to detail, and most importantly, location. Just a five minute walk down a scenic greenbelt (Bethany Curve), and you find yourself overlooking the legendary Santa Cruz coast along West Cliff Boulevard, arguably one of the premier walking/biking paths in the entire state. In regards to the unit, it sits in a quiet residential neighborhood on the west side of Santa Cruz. One thing we were worried about in renting in Santa Cruz was the knowledge that many homes are rented to UCSC students, and we didn't really want to be next to a "party" house. (My wife went to UCSC, and is a Slug alumni). Have no fear with this concern, as West Cliff Hideaway is quietly secluded, tucked behind Robin and Bill's (the owners') main house, just up a set of stairs. With the exception of walking down the driveway past the main house, you would never know the main house is even there. The outside patio, just adjacent to the entrance door, was an added bonus. It was perfect for us to store our bikes and bike trailer, which we had brought along for biking along West Cliff. Bill even offered us a tarp, if needed, as the weather couldn't really make up its mind on drizzling or having the sun shine through. Bill even gave me a call on our second day, noticing the weather might not cooperate, and offered us some suggestions that could accommodate the weather. While we already had planned some alternatives, we much appreciated the recommendations. We ended up biking down to Natural Bridges (from the Hideaway) on the first day to check out the tide pools with our girls. Past Natural Bridges there is also a great bike path that leads all the way over to Wilder Ranch, which is one of the premier mountain biking meccas in all of California. The following day we headed over to Roaring Camp Railroad in Felton for a ride on the vintage steam train, and a quick stop by the Bigfoot Museum. We also managed to squeeze in some hiking in the Pogonip Reserve, a quick stop by UCSC, a tad a of shopping in downtown, and obviously some excellent eating in the myriad of restaurants Santa Cruz has to offer. Without hesitation, I would recommend West Cliff Hideaway. Given the location, seclusion, amenities, and price, especially compared to other local hotels, do yourself and favor and experience the comfort and Santa Cruz vibe this Hideaway has to offer."

Casita de Santa Cruz is a delightful 2 bedroom, 2 bath home that comfortably sleeps up to four people. Artistically decorated, the 2 bedrooms each have a queen size bed. The large enclosed brick patio offers privacy for enjoying a soak in the hot tub, sunbathing or enjoying a barbecue while listening to the seals barking from their perches under the wharf.
Casita de Santa Cruz is a hidden gem, offering seclusion, but located in the heart of a westside Santa Cruz beach neighborhood. You can be in the "thick of it" within minutes, but also hide away from it all. The choice is yours! Live like a local during your vacation.
Enjoy a bike ride along West Cliff Drive, go wine tasting, take a drive up the coast to San Francisco or down the coast to Monterey, visit the University of California, Santa Cruz, play a round of golf, go sailing on the Chardonnay, try surfing!, or just relax at the beach.
- "Our 5 week stay was wonderful. From check-in to check-out, Jill and her husband were very gracious hosts. Jill answered many questions I had before we even arrived, and if something came up while we were there, she responded immediately (even when she was out of town). The casita's kitchen is well equipped, with everything needed to cook. The hot tub, which is heated 24/7 was immaculate ( the service guy came every Monday while we were there). We had lovely meals out on the patio in the backyard, with very nice shade from the beautiful trees. The living area furniture is a bit dated, and a coffee table or ottoman would be nice, but otherwise fine.As far as the bedrooms, they were both very nice and the beds were comfy. Some extra pillows would be great. We have family in the area ( 1 block away) and we will be returning to SC next summer for another long stay. Because the casita is on an alleyway and not on a main street, it is super quiet (all you can really hear is the sea lions at the wharf!) Thank you Jill for being such a wonderful host. It is obvious that you care about your property and you care about your guests and their comfort. See you next year!"

This stylish, adorable, lovingly-maintained, Westside home is located in a central yet peaceful neighborhood. Ideally located on the corner of Bay & Lighthouse, it’s a short walk to: Cowell’s Beach, Steamer Lane, the lively Municipal Pier and the ever-entertaining Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Take one of our beach cruisers for a short bike ride Downtown, to Mission Street, New Leaf market, the Harbor and beyond. You'll never need to get into your car.
Our well-appointed, but simple home includes an outdoor area that feels very much like part of the home. For a small house, the two bedrooms, loft, kitchen and living room are all quite spacious with loads of natural light. The sunny kitchen is great for entertaining and is outfitted with new appliances, good knives, and stocked with basic supplies like olive oil and spices. The master bedroom has a wonderful King bed, and TV. The second bedroom has a double bed. The loft has a fold-out Queen bed and TV. The living area has comfortable seating and a desk with an iMac.
If it’s exercise you desire, you can clear your head with a 5-mile run on the gorgeous sea wall, winding along the secluded beaches and rocky outcroppings. Stroll out to West Cliff, where the world-class surf ranges from beginner to pro. Pedal up to the stunning UCSC campus or wilder ranch for amazing mountain biking, or just blaze down the scenic coast highway on your roadbike.
If you’re more interested in filling your belly, or your soul, you can ride out to the Westside Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning to pick up fresh produce, meats and flowers. Stop by Kelly’s Bakery for a fresh chocolate eclair or hit the Santa Cruz Yoga Studio for a Vinyasa Class. Kick back at the Bonny Doon wine tasting room or grab a beer at the Santa Cruz Brewery.
If you like to shop you can take a stroll Downtown on historic and vibrant Pacific Avenue. Pop into the many locally-owned businesses. Grab a taco from the Taco Bar at the Palomar Inn, have an intimate dinner at Gabriella’s but be sure to save room for dessert. Penny Ice Creamery has wild flavors made on site with surprising local ingredients.
If you want to take a day trip, there are numerous redwood hikes with swimming holes, a variety of colorful coastal towns, the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, Carmel & Pebble beach, and the San Jose Tech museum.

You can tell that the space is loved, with thoughtful touches like the large selection of books and magazines, incredibly well stocked kitchen and barbecue, plus the outdoor surf shower. The loft is super cute and gave us three very comfortable sleeping spaces. My kids loved the private patio/backyard with its romantic string lights and propane fire pit. You can't beat the location for the combination of quiet and removed from the hustle and bustle while still being close to everything Santa Cruz has to offer. We walked to the beach and the boardwalk every day. You can also walk to downtown. On top of all that, our hosts were so kind and fun to chat with (when we occasionally ran across them in the shared driveway). They responded quickly when we had questions. It was a fantastic stay and I would highly, highly recommend!"

Our 1928 carriage house apartment is situated in historic Beach Hill. It has been recently renovated, yet much of the original charm has been maintained. It is a perfect spot for families or small groups - close to many tourist spots yet located in a residential neighborhood.
Cowell's Beach (boogie boarding and surfing), Steamer's Lane (advanced surfing), Monterey Exploration Center, Boardwalk, wharf, Warriors basketball stadium, downtown, and West Cliff Drive (bike/walking path along the ocean) are all a quick 5 minute walk from our house.
The apartment is located in a private garden setting, away from the main street, behind our home. We hope you will love this historical neighborhood as much as we do!

Everything is within walking distance or just a few min drive into town. We had the pleasure of meeting our host and she was very kind. Get away from it all and enjoy the serene and private surroundings that this house has to offer. Kick back and take in the breathtaking views of Santa Cruz, the ocean, a beautiful sunset followed by the twinkling of city lights at night. Enjoy all that Santa Cruz has to offer with just a short drive (less than 10 mins) to downtown. We offer a Smart TV, Wi-Fi, a very comfortable king size bed. Their is a completely separate downstairs unit that may be occupied by the owner occasionally. Inquire if concerned. Their is a security camera on the front deck looking over the driveway. The Corner @ Cowell's Beach is the perfect getaway for your Santa Cruz Vacation. Steps from the sand, this cozy, renovated bungalow will help you relax listening to the waves crash on the shore. The Corner has sleeping for 6: the master bedroom has a queen bed, the second bedroom has twin bunk beds and a queen futon. You can access the bathroom from both bedrooms, and the unit has a washer and dryer. The front deck is the perfect place to sip coffee and watch the sun rise or have a cocktail and watch the sun set while watching the waves roll in at Cowell's Beach. There is a $100 cleaning fee and taxes added on to nightly price.
- "House was clean. Enjoyed the porch and its ocean views. Definitely get to see the hustle and bustle and surf front living. (We loved the people watching which may not be for everyone). House was short on silverware for 6 as listed (luckily we only had 4 guest and there was enough) would like to have had more toilet paper, paper towels and trash bags for use. Be sure to bring some extra or be prepared to buy some more. Over all experience A+. Hope to come again next year."

Centrally located in the West Cliff area, this coastal home has ample space including a private backyard where you can relax and soak up the sun during the day or enjoy the serene sound of the sea lions or waves crashing in the distance at night. If laid back adventure is more your style, grab some toys and take a quick stroll to the beach to play, catch some waves, enjoy a game of spike ball or throw a frisbee. If you are more of the active type, explore the neighborhood trail for a hike or mountain bike ride to Wilder Ranch State Park’s amazing bluffs with spectacular views overlooking the ocean, take on the challenge of one of the many mountainside trails or take a tranquil tour to learn the history of the former diary ranch. If video arcades and amusement parks are more your style, you can walk less than 2 miles to enjoy the excitement and thrills of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. David was kind and enthusiastic about sharing lots of his favorite spots in the area. My 10 yo son fell in love with David’s horses and said hello to them first thing each morning. He has two beautiful horses, Rico and Fosse. We got to feed them carrots and you can see them from the suite. We walked around the grounds and star gazed our second night. After taking a break from renting I am excited to reopen my doors to renters. Both the Cabin by the Sea, and the newly constructed ADU are available to rent on a monthly basis. Both units can not be rented at the same time as per local regulations. I will be occupying whichever unit is not being rented.
The cabin is an amazing one bed room, one bath log cabin with ocean views from every window! Walk across the street to your own sandy beach, surf breaks in either direction. Beautiful one mile stroll down West Cliff Dr to the famed Santa Cruz Lighthouse. The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular. Enjoy the outside fire pit, gas barbecue, local hiking/ biking trails. Both Wilder Ranch & Natural Bridges State Beach surround this beautiful historic log cabin.
The ADU is nestled behind the cabin with an enclosed fenced in backyard.
Balcony views will knock your socks off. The property includes a shared driveway. ADU available at same rate and monthly city restrictions. Feel welcome to contact owner with questions.

Get ready to relax in this 2-bedroom house in Santa Cruz. This beautiful single family house locates a very nice location. There are many interesting places around this house. You can take a walk with your pet to the beach via the Bethany Curve Walkway, visit the lighthouse, explore local wineries, or shop at Safeway and New Leaf grocery store. The nearby Swift Street Courtyard offers plenty of chic cafés to relax in. It is close to natural bridges beach, light house, board walk and many other interesting attractions etc. The house has plenty of parking in the front of the house ,we hope you’ll enjoy it!

- "Our night and morning in the woods of Felton (in the Santa Cruz mountains) were entirely comfortable and beautiful. A cozy and clean cottage, adjoining a larger home, with trees all around and a small view of the Monterey Bay - very beautiful and the perfect escape ! The drive in (through the Cowell redwoods) was really gorgeous, and the town of Felton itself was charming, with a number of restaurant choices. And breakfast on the coast in Davenport was ideal - sunny, while Santa Cruz was still fog-bound. The cottage has a well-stocked kitchen, and we almost chose to cook dinner at home; but we enjoyed lounging in the cottage's cool, fragrant evening air after our restaurant dinner instead. Marvelous bed, comfortable Adirondack chairs, GREAT towels - a wonderful spot to relax !"

An adorable cozy space, the Boxcar provides charm, comfort and privacy nestled on a beautiful 6 acre property just 4 miles to town to beaches, parks and restaurants. The space is a remodeled vintage boxcar trailer originally made for Southern Pacific Railroad workers - it comes with all the amenities including shower, kitchen, king bed, toilet (foot flush valve), outdoor patio with propane fire pit, dedicated parking, a gorgeous view of the mountain, and more!

The Santa Cruz Mountains offer a serene escape from the hustle and bustle. This lush and forested region is a nature lover's dream, featuring towering redwood groves, hiking and biking trails, and pristine state parks like Big Basin Redwoods State Park. With picturesque vistas, it's an idyllic setting for outdoor activities, including birdwatching and camping. The Santa Cruz Mountains also boast a thriving wine scene, with vineyards and wineries producing exceptional varietals. It's a place to unwind, disconnect, and find solace in nature's beauty, making it a perfect retreat for those seeking tranquility and outdoor adventure.
This is a very quiet, family neighborhood. It is not a good place for gatherings or parties so please keep that in mind when booking this home. We are very respectful of our neighbors and will not tolerate loud noise past curfew and additional guests at the property.
Getting Around:
Branciforte Drive connects to all the main road and if very close to both highway 17 (takes about 30 minutes to get to San Jose) and highway 1 (takes about 10 minutes to all the sister beach towns, like Capitola).

- A friendly family lives in the main house across from the guest house, adding a welcoming neighborhood feel, and there’s another rental nearby that you might notice guests coming and going from.
- This is a shared property with a shared parking area. You’ll have one designated spot on the property.
- Nestled in the redwoods and set behind a gated fence, the home offers a serene forest escape. However, the road outside can see occasional fast-moving cars, so if you’re visiting with small children, please be mindful if the gate is open.
- We have landscapers, pest service, and other property maintenance done on a weekly basis. You may see or hear these service professionals during your stay as they let themselves into the backyard to service as needed. Please be sure to ask about this before booking if you think it might be an issue for you.
- TV is a smart tv with streaming capabilities. There are no cable or local channels.
- The exterior of this home is monitored by 24/7 surveillance recording devices for safety.

It was about 20 minutes away from the beach we selected but that was ok we had plenty of beach time while we waited for check in. It was clean, cozy, and comfortable a great place to wash up and relax before heading out for a walk to the boardwalk. While I didn’t use the kitchen appliances, everything was available if needed. We chose to drive into Capitola for dinner. Would definitely stay again!"

Views reach all the way out to the Monterey bay and surrounding areas. The hot tub is also a nice way to wind down and enjoy the stars at night. The house itself is very cozy, layed out and has all the amenities you need to make yourself at home. The small cul de sac is very quiet and easy to find of the main road. Wanted a feature friendly but private getaway for our wedding anniversary and Rebecca was extremely easy to work with, even went so far as to arrange champagne and flowers when we arrived! Everything was better than expected and had zero issues at all. Would very much recommend this property to anyone looking to enjoy a relaxing and quiet place to get away from it all but still close enough to go into town."

We have no onsite parking for guests. Street parking is free overnight out front of the hostel from 9PM to 9AM and meter parking is free 8PM to 8AM.
During the day metered parking is available on 1st, 2nd and Front Street surrounding the hostel and is enforced every day between 8 am and 8 pm. City parking permits for metered spots are available for guests at $10 per day.
Please park in the loading zone in front of the hostel with your hazards on to drop off luggage or purchase a permit.
You can purchase a meter permit at the desk during offices hours (9AM-7PM). If you are arriving after 4PM it is more affordable to pay the meter.

Check-in is from 5-10 pm, and checkout is at 11 am (with a $40 late checkout fee). Please be sure to read the directions we send, as GPS may not be reliable in our area.
Each room has a keyed entry, and lost or unreturned keys incur a $250 replacement fee.

Enjoy your private bedroom and bathroom in the hot and sunny banana belt of Santa Cruz. The space is newly remodeled with bamboo floors and opens onto the sunny deck. The deck and yard is shared with me and my pup when we are home but everything else is private. The walls are shared with my house, though I have made efforts to soundproof. You may also enjoy the garden and deck.

We are located conveniently just off of the free way a 10 minute bike ride or drive to downtown or the beach. This central location is convenient to all parts of town and it is possible to walk downtown in 15-20 minutes as well. Our house is on a quiet cul de sac with plenty of parking and little traffic.
There is a table and chairs outside on the deck for eating and enjoying the garden. The deck is shared with me, the owner and my 2 year old dog. He is very friendly but this home is best for people who enjoy dogs.
I am happy to point you in the direction of local restaurants, hikes or favorite beaches. I have beach chairs, an umbrella, boogie board a surfboard and bikes that you can borrow if you would like!

My black cat Clyde roams the property and is likely to come visit and say hi.
The Hideout is a very private space located on the west side of Santa Cruz between Natural Bridges beach/West Cliff Drive (1.2 miles) and UCSC (1.4 miles). Privacy is #1 with keyless entry, a private entrance, and a private yard. Interaction with the owners is entirely optional. The Hideout is just 300 square feet but has all of the amenities like a full kitchen, air conditioning, washer/dryer, reverse osmosis water, you name it!
The Hideout is only available for stays of 30 days and longer
The space
The Hideout's greatest asset is its private setting behind a locked gate with keyless entry (and doorbell). Interaction with the owners is entirely optional. You will have your own private yard and patio with furniture in a beautiful outdoor setting for relaxing and/or enjoying your meals.
The Hideout's proximity to UCSC (1.4 miles), the beach / West Cliff drive (1.2 miles), and the Boardwalk (2.7 miles) make it a unique private space with close access to everything you want. Perfect for visiting or attending UCSC! Natural Bridges State Beach (1 Mile) is close by and famous for the Monarch Butterfly migration, rock formations, tide pools, and marine life.
** The Hideout is back on the market after a long hiatus. Changes to city rules require us to only offer stays of 30 days and longer. We currently offer stays from 30 days to 1 year.
- The Bed
PLEASE NOTE: The Hideout leverages a Murphy Bed that extends down over the couch (See pictures). The Murphy Bed is well-balanced and top-of-the-line. This bed utilizes a full queen memory foam mattress. It is not a futon or other temporary mattress. When the bed is in the up position, the Ottoman is used to store pillows and extra bedding (Closet as well). It is easy to manipulate, however, if you have physical limitations, you may want us to set the bed in the down position for you for the length of your stay. If you have any questions, please contact us for details. The TV will swivel and point to any area of the unit, so even if you leave the bed down for your stay, you can still sit at the table, or anywhere else that you find comfortable.
- There is a detailed manual that includes instructions on just about everything in the space.

- We provide a dedicated parking permit that allows you to park your car right in front of the Hideout entrance

Our TV leverages the Android TV platform that includes streaming apps for all major streaming providers like Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Paramount Plus, Discovery, and all the rest. You can log in using your own account credentials.
We provide a paid subscription to YouTube TV Entertainment Plus that includes local channels and most cable networks, including HBO Max, SHOWTIME, EPIX, and STARZ. It has unlimited DVR program recording capabilities.
- Washer/Dryer
The Hideout features an all-in-one washer/dryer for your use at no charge. Please note that the Washer/Dryer has limited capacity and is not ideal for larger loads like quilts/large bedding. The owners will wash bedding and provide extra sets on an exchange basis.
-Emergency Power and Internet
The Hideout and host property have an emergency generator and failover internet. Recent fires and weather situations warranted the installation of these features.

After you arrive, contact us about removing anything you feel you won't need or is in the way. We realize that you may have your own items you want to use.
- Larger portable table options if you need more table space. We can exchange the table for a larger portable table if you need it
- We can change just about anything to fit your needs. Just reach out anytime!
CLEANING - For stays longer than 30 days, we will arrange a required maintenance/deep cleaning visit once per month that is free of charge. There is a one-time charge of $75 that is included in your pre-stay estimate for when your stay ends.
This process takes between 4 and 5 hours. During that time, we perform the following tasks:
- Complete deep cleaning and bedding refresh
- Washer/Dryer maintenance and filter cleaning
- Reverse Osmosis filter cleaning
- Tankless water heater maintenance
- Changing of rugs/mats - Maintain and service all amenities
- Refresh supplies (TP, Kleenex, etc)
** Additional cleanings are available for a $75 dollar fee **

Other things to note
- There are security camera's on the premises, but none in the Hideout compound. The Hideout and yard are totally private.
- There is a Catio (Outdoor cat cage) in the yard right next to your private yard. Although the owner's cats have no access to your space, they can see into your yard, and you can see part of their Catio from your side.
- The Hideout maintenance team needs periodic access to the yard to perform landscaping maintenance. This is done on a schedule, and you will receive a 48-hour notice and schedule before any access to your private space is needed.

This light filled studio apartment is located in the back yard of a historical Victorian near downtown Santa Cruz. It is cozy, smartly decorated, private and comfortable. Located behind a gate on a quiet street, the cottage features a large 350 SF room with a queen bed and flat screen TV, closet, dining table, 2 arm chairs, full size kitchen with all major and necessary appliances, a separate 100 SF bathroom, and covered patio.
The complete kitchen has a refrigerator, microwave, sink, stove, toaster and coffee maker. It comes with all the dishes, pots and pans, utensils, serving ware, and flatware you need. Tea and coffee are provided.
The plush queen bed comes with new bedding and super soft 400 thread count sheets. The dining table seats 2. The flatscreen TV can be rotated to face any direction in the room and is approximately 26".
The separate bath has a stall shower and plenty of new, fluffy towels. Shampoo, conditioner and body soap are provided.
The porch and patio furniture are perfect for morning coffee and bird watching in our native and lush landscape.

Guests will get a parking spot in our driveway. You have access to our backyard and are free to use the cottage porch, backyard pergola and outdoor space. The hot tub is not for guests.

No dogs or cats allowed. We have two outdoor kitties - Midnight & DIsco. The house is located near a high school and there is a lot of action and kids around during the school year, 8-3. THURSDAY NIGHT BEACH PARTIES AT THE CROW’S NEST
Each Summer on Thursday evenings, the Crow’s Nest offers its Summer Beach Party series with fun and funky live entertainment right on the beach. The party starts at 5:30 pm each week and goes until sunset. With live entertainment on the outdoor beach stage and Crow’s Nest’s famous BBQ and outdoor bar, beach parties are a unique and popular event. Families are welcome, and there is no admission charge! After the sun sets the fun begins upstairs with dancing to the best of local live bands beginning at 8:30 pm with only a $5 cover charge.
For the beach parties, parking is very limited. Walk, ride a bike, get dropped off, take a cab or ride the bus, but leave the car at home. If you must drive, please do not park in local neighborhoods or on private property. Thank you!

CAPITOLA TWILIGHT CONCERT SERIES
Popular local bands rouse fun-loving crowds on Wednesday evenings in the Capitola Village. The free Twilight Concert Series features everything from classic rock to funk to dance hits and Latin fusion. All concerts are 6pm – 8pm and take place at the Esplanade bandstand with ocean views in the picturesque Capitola Village. Enjoy the performance from your own low-back chair on the beach or grab an outside table at one of the village restaurants.

At Fuente de Amor you will find your own oasis and enclosed gazebo space in the surrounded by a tree studded 1 acre lot. We offer a spectacular queen size bed with down comforter, 1/2 bathroom, Electric Fireplace, wood fire pit, outdoor shower and best of all a mesmerizing rock waterfall to lull you to sleep!

This is a guest house located on the same property as our home (about 50 feet away).
Details about your Gazebo:
This is a gazebo with enclosed walls on 3 sides, a privacy screen system and curtain on the front side. Glamping comes with a bit of grit so you may have a friend with 8 legs say hello. We do use diatomaceous earth around the gazebo to prevent this.
The Window System: A 10mil vinyl multi level window, fully screened to let air pass but keep bugs out and thick velvet curtains are perfect for cold and privacy and will keep you feeling campy!
We are located in California and have been known to experience fires, power outages and basic shutdown situations in the summer. Our main goal is to keep you safe but we are not responsible for circumstances beyond our control. At this time we do not have battery or generator back up so if you book with us and we loose power we will do everything possible to keep you comfortable but will not have power.
Smoking is allowed outside the unit not inside.

Wood fires are allowed only in still nights. Any wind that could spread embers is strictly null the fire pit options. Fire must be put out before leaving the area.
Please be aware that cell service can be spotty at our home. We do offer WIFI but it often is slow down at the Gazebo.
2024 Season Update: This unit has a Separett Villa Waste-SeparatingToilet. We noticed that on exceptionally hot days (95+ degree) during the summer the Gazebo would warm up and the smell after use could be somewhat strong due to heat and a lack of airflow. We decided to create a private outdoor location with excellent air flow and shade. We have now moved the toilet. This upgrade will allow for relaxing, private, smell free Movements for all our guests. Thank you for your understanding.

Please be mindful of water even though we had a very wet winter. You will share the bathroom with my long-term tenant who is a science mentor and researcher at UCSC.
The City of Santa Cruz collects a 14% hotel tax, which is not collected by Airbnb, as is the case with most towns. I am required to collected it and send it to the City. This can be done when you are here by adding a charge either to your Airbnb account, or by cash. I am sorry for this inconvenience.

Close to everything yet private with its own private entrance and in a quiet setting with an outdoor sitting area. The neighborhood is old Santa Cruz and close to everything. The space
The unit has its own entrance. Very private with an outdoor garden sitting area. The bed is a cal king with a comfy gel top and the sheets are 100% cotton sateen. There is an air mattress available for a third person. The main room is laminate flooring with area carpets.
There is a kitchen and bathroom with Saltillo tile floors. The kitchen has a toaster oven, microwave, refrigerator and coffee machine. NO STOVE. Coffee, tea, cream and sugar are provided along with filtered water. There are also breakfast items and various snacks. There is a flat screen tv. I have been unable to lock it for purchases so I ask you to PLEASE NOT BUY MOVIES ON MY ACCOUNT. There will be a $25 charge for any movie billed to my account. Sorry, but there is a wide selection of free movies and programs for you to watch. There is also wifi.
Shampoo and conditioner, bath soap and a hairdryer are included. An iron and ironing board are available on request. The linens are freshly laundered after each guest.
For those who want to do laundry, there is a laundromat at the end of the block.

The guests will enter through the side gate on the right as you look at the house. They will enter through the driveway. The suite is private and has a garden area is also private for the guests to enjoy for morning coffee or evening glass of wine.
There is a long term rental on the property. The tenant shares the walkway with you.

I am required to collect the city mandated short term rental tax in cash when you arrive because the city of Santa Cruz does NOT allow Airbnb to collect it at booking. We love being next to the beach in Santa Cruz, along with the many amenities we get to enjoy.
One of the requirements of operating Airbnb in Santa Cruz is the payment of Occupancy Tax. We include these taxes in our daily rate rather than as a separate itemized charge.
The space
This upstairs bedroom has easy access from the front entry and has its own private bathroom. The views are fabulous, looking across to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the wharf, and the sailboats taking advantage of the ocean breezes.
A short walk down the hill takes you to the beach. Turn the other direction and take advantage of the spectacular walking and bike path along W. Cliff Drive to Natural Bridges Beach. Take a short 25 minute walk to downtown to access any of the 10 movie theaters and many wonderful restaurants.
During your stay
We are in and out a lot and so the amount of interaction with guests is really dependent upon our schedules during the stay. We do our best to greet guests personally, but if this isn't possible, we communicate with them to make sure that they can settle in when they arrive. In general, we are pretty laissez-faire in our approach, but try are available by e-mail, phone or text to respond to guest needs.
