We didn’t use the fireplace, but it was great that it was there for the really cool nights. The grounds were as advertised all in all this property is great for a short stay. I don’t know that I would choose it for someplace where I was going to be for a week, but not disappointed at all with what I found when I got there . "

Spend some time at our beautiful beach house overlooking Natural Bridges State Park. Hear the surf and see the ocean through the trees from the living room and the expansive deck. Drift into sleep listening to the waves from your bedroom. Walk down the block to the beach, build a sand castle, and play in the waves. Stroll down West Cliff and watch the surf crash against the cliffs. The house is also a short walk to Swift Street Courtyard, home to Kelly’s French Bakery, the Cellar Door Café, Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing, and multiple wine tasting rooms, including Bonny Doone, Copious Winery, and Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard. This newly remodeled beach house comes complete with flat panel TV's in the living room and separate kids' zone, Cable, DVD, and wireless Internet.
The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a sleeping loft. The upstairs living room has ample seating for enjoying the view, cozying up to the wood stove, or watching the flat screen TV. The spacious master bedroom is also upstairs, and overlooks the park. Two bedrooms and the 2nd bath are downstairs. The front downstairs bedroom is bright and sunny, with a queen bed. The downstairs back bedroom is very large (25x12). It has a queen bed, and a sitting area with another flat screen TV and a futon couch which folds out to a full size bed. The room also has a loft with two twin beds. It’s a perfect spot for a kids’ hang-out.
The house was completely renovated during the spring of 2011. The kitchen and both baths were stripped to the studs and remodeled, with all new appliances. All doors, carpets, and floors were replaced. Everything has been newly painted in 2020. The furnishings are also new, and the kitchen is fully stocked with plates, pans, utensils and serving pieces. We have a gas grill on the deck, and seating for 8. We added a patio in the back yard in 2012 with a fire pit that's perfect for roasting marsh mellows. The house is also equipped with wireless.
We have lots of toys as well: several adult size cruiser bikes in the garage, 4+ boogie boards, and 6 beach chairs, all for your use. Rental also includes bath towels, sheets, and beach towels (8). The kids will love making s’mores in the fire pit in the back yard. The boardwalk and downtown Santa Cruz are three miles away, an easy bike ride along West Cliff. The house is a perfect location for exploring Santa Cruz, Capitola and Aptos. Other great day-trips include the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the shops of Carmel. Come, relax and enjoy!

- "My wife, two daughters (4 and 2), and I recently spent 4 days at West Cliff Hideaway. Simply put, this place has charm, attention to detail, and most importantly, location. Just a five minute walk down a scenic greenbelt (Bethany Curve), and you find yourself overlooking the legendary Santa Cruz coast along West Cliff Boulevard, arguably one of the premier walking/biking paths in the entire state. In regards to the unit, it sits in a quiet residential neighborhood on the west side of Santa Cruz. One thing we were worried about in renting in Santa Cruz was the knowledge that many homes are rented to UCSC students, and we didn't really want to be next to a "party" house. (My wife went to UCSC, and is a Slug alumni). Have no fear with this concern, as West Cliff Hideaway is quietly secluded, tucked behind Robin and Bill's (the owners') main house, just up a set of stairs. With the exception of walking down the driveway past the main house, you would never know the main house is even there. The outside patio, just adjacent to the entrance door, was an added bonus. It was perfect for us to store our bikes and bike trailer, which we had brought along for biking along West Cliff. Bill even offered us a tarp, if needed, as the weather couldn't really make up its mind on drizzling or having the sun shine through. Bill even gave me a call on our second day, noticing the weather might not cooperate, and offered us some suggestions that could accommodate the weather. While we already had planned some alternatives, we much appreciated the recommendations. We ended up biking down to Natural Bridges (from the Hideaway) on the first day to check out the tide pools with our girls. Past Natural Bridges there is also a great bike path that leads all the way over to Wilder Ranch, which is one of the premier mountain biking meccas in all of California. The following day we headed over to Roaring Camp Railroad in Felton for a ride on the vintage steam train, and a quick stop by the Bigfoot Museum. We also managed to squeeze in some hiking in the Pogonip Reserve, a quick stop by UCSC, a tad a of shopping in downtown, and obviously some excellent eating in the myriad of restaurants Santa Cruz has to offer. Without hesitation, I would recommend West Cliff Hideaway. Given the location, seclusion, amenities, and price, especially compared to other local hotels, do yourself and favor and experience the comfort and Santa Cruz vibe this Hideaway has to offer."

Come relax at West Cliff Azure. A spacious home with incredible views of the Monterey Bay. Watch for whales and dolphins as you entertain from the galley kitchen. Gaze out at the water as you sip a beverage and enjoy the views from the living room and recently remodeled kitchen/dining room.
This 4 bedroom/ 4 bathroom home sleeps 8 comfortably. The master bedroom has a Cal King bed and the other 3 bedrooms have queen beds (all hotel grade mattresses).
The house has a reverse floor plan. The kitchen is upstairs. Two bathrooms and two bedrooms are upstairs. The other two bathrooms and two bedrooms are downstairs. The TV is downstairs. There is a living room upstairs and downstairs as well.
All four bathrooms recently remodeled, including the en suite Master Bath.
The wrap around balcony is perfect for sun bathing and for sipping your coffee while you drink in the views of the ocean. You can BBQ on the back deck while you watch the pelicans fly overhead. There is a fire-pit in the back yard for roasting marshmallows and gazing at the night sky while you listen to the sounds of the crashing waves against the cliffs.
The house is located in a low-key neighborhood surrounded by full-time residents. We ask that our guests respect the quiet hours (9pm weeknights, 10pm weekends). Parties which cause a disturbance to the neighbors are not permitted. This house is not available for weddings or events.

This home is right on West Cliff Drive. Walk across the street and stroll or bike along the scenic path. If you turn right, you'll head towards Natural Bridges State Beach. If you turn left, you'll head towards the world famous surf break 'Steamer Lane', a light house and a surfing museum.
Visit the migrating monarch butterflies at Lighthouse field (they spend their winters in the eucalyptus trees) or ride your bike down to the Boardwalk and ride the giant dipper roller coaster.
New Leaf Market is the local health food store that is walking and biking distance. Walk down to the Swift Street Courtyard for your morning coffee or Santa Cruz mountain brewing for a cold one.
You can take a walk to the end of the wharf and enjoy the views, sea lions and various dining options.

Oxford Beach House is a 5-minute walk to West Cliff Drive where you will find Mitchell Cove, the Santa Cruz Surfing Museum, Steamer Lane, and Lighthouse Field State Beach. It is located just over 1 mile from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk where you can find The Big Dipper roller coaster and many other rides and games. There is entertainment for everyone at the Boardwalk, including a bowling alley, laser tag, video arcade and outdoor movies on the beach every Friday during the summer months. The Municipal Wharf is a great place for food or a beverage during the day or in the evening. The Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf is a 20-minute walk from Oxford Beach House.
Within one mile of our house you can find fantastic culinary options, craft beer makers, wine tasting rooms, surf shops, and beach style convenience stores. These are all within a 10-minute bike ride. If you feel like working out before you head out for some food or beverages, you can walk two blocks to Bethany Curve Open Space which is a par (exercise) course that starts at West Cliff Drive and moves six blocks inland along a dedicated green belt. There is a small creek running up the green belt and the creekside trail is ideal for walks.

- "This was our fourth year in the West Cliff area but the first time at this property. We were worried about the destruction to the beach and road this last winter and the orange road barriers in front of the proposer Ty were a distraction but not as bad as I feared. The road is only one way in front of the property which was fine and actually cut down on traffic compared to prior years. We had six adults and four children 7 and under (including a 10 month old) and the house worked well for this group. The fire pit in the front is a great place for cocktails, after dinner conversations and people watching and the backyard is terrific for kids. The jacuzzi and outdoor shower are wonderful features. The small bedroom with a triple decker bunk bed was a big hit with the 7 and 5 year old grandkids. The kitchen has a good layout and works well. We had some bad luck with the dishwasher and clothes washer both going out while we were there, but the owner was very responsive, replacing the dishwasher in less than 24 hours and collecting our laundry and having it done offsite while the clothes washer was out of commission. The owner and local property manager were both extremely responsive to our questions and issues. We had a great time and look forward to returning next year and for many years to come."

It is a beautiful home as depicted in photos and description and is located on the lower West Side of Santa Cruz about 1000 steps to the Ocean and West Cliff Drive. The Ocean can be seen to the left from our front driveway and to the right are views of the Santa Cruz Hills. A 10 minute stroll up the road brings you to the array of coffee shops, local wineries, pubs, cafes and food along with an array of lovely boutiques and shops.
Our home IS a home that you can relax in at the end of the day and enjoy peace and tranquility in our lovely residential neighborhood.
If there is an issue with cleaning or other items in the home, we will address this as quickly as possible and in the appropriate manner. We have an amazing cleaning team who take pride in their work.

Our home is steps away from stunning West Cliff Drive (on the lower West Side of Santa Cruz) with its pristine tidal beaches, world famous surf spots and the abundant sea life of Monterey Bay.
Take a 40 minute stroll along West Cliff Drive to the famous Beach Boardwalk and fun fair or a 20 minute bike ride. There is an abundance of restaurants and a further 10 minute walk will take you into Downtown Santa Cruz with its shops, bars, restaurants and cinemas. Alternatively, take a 15 minute walk in the other direction to Natural Bridges Beach and Famous Butterfly Sanctuary.
Our home is a beautiful, tastefully decorated 2500 sq ft house. It is constantly being updated and renovated. It has a fabulous open plan modern kitchen, deck, garden with a Swim Spa/pool and a separate hot tub. NOTE: both the pool and hot tub are bonus items and your rental fee is for the home and contents of the home. Therefore, should either spa be out of order or waiting a service/repair before or during your stay, we will try our best to arrange a technician to service subject to availability.
The house has 3 bedrooms made up of 1 king bed, 1 Queen and 3rd bedroom with 2 Double beds, clothes hanger. There is a twin sofa bed in the downstairs office.
There are 2 family rooms, dining room, office/sunroom, 2.5 bathrooms. The large family room has had a complete fireplace remodel with a stunning European gas double sided fireplace installed. There is a large wall hung Smart TV and modern comfortable sectional sofa and armchairs. The dining room has a large white washed oak dining table, chairs and bench which sits 10. There is a small furnished office (with twin sofa bed) which opens off the dining room and onto the surround deck. Ideal for reading peacefully or making a quiet phone call or an extra small bedroom with sofa chair bed if needed.
The open plan designer kitchen has a surround counter top with stools for 6. The kitchen opens onto dining room and rear family room which also has comfortable sofa, armchairs etc and a wall-hung tv and a pleasant additional sitting nook looking out onto rear garden area with bistro table and chairs
This living space also features another European wood burning stove along with glass slider patio doors and picture window creating a bright, airy open entertaining area which has two sets of doors opening onto deck and a fabulous peaceful rear garden/entertaining area with hot tub, BBQ grill, hammock, outdoor furniture and a 15ft x 9ft SWIM SPA!
There are multiple sitting areas outside to allow for sun or shade. Favorite area for a wee sundowner being in front garden/covered porch area which has a sofa, 2 swinging wicker chairs, 2 garden chairs and another hammock. The streets peaceful and neighbors super friendly and helpful too.

IMPORTANT
Please note the pool and hot tub are added “bonus” amenities and therefore should any of these amenities develop a fault or become out of order during or prior to your stay, we will do the best we can to have them serviced and/or repaired. Please be advised that both swim jets are broken on the swim spa due to the storms and are unable to be replaced at this time. However, the seated jets do work along with waterfall and temperature. We keep it at 90' in summer to cool off and the hot tub is kept at 103 ish.

This cozy home has three bedrooms, steps to Pacific Ocean and can accommodate up to 6 people. Great lush backyard for gatherings and bbq. All mattresses, pillows and bedding are newer. One bedroom has a Queen-sized bed, flat screen TV, large work desk and a sliding glass door access to the backyard(seasonally let the sounds of the rolling ocean waves lull you to sleep and greet you each morning!). The second is the Master Bedroom has a King bed with a twin daybed, attached bathroom with a shower. The third bedroom has one queen bed and one twin bed.

We have everything you might need for kids (including a high chair, booster chair, and more) or a day at Natural Bridges Beach with your family (including sand toys, umbrellas, cooler, beach chairs, a beach wagon for all your stuff, and more), which is only a block and a half away and has seasonal lifeguards.
More importantly, with four bedrooms and three bathrooms, we have the perfect setup for a large family traveling with their nanny or other caretaker. On the first floor, you'll find the main living areas, including one bedroom with a queen-size bed and a bathroom with a shower. The downstairs has a spacious dining room, which can seat up to eight people. A large living room is adjacent to the dining room, and a comfortable family room is off of the kitchen. The downstairs has tile and luxury vinyl plank floors.
Upstairs, the two kids' bedrooms are in the front of the house and share a bathroom. One of the kids' bedrooms has a single twin bed with a trundle twin bed, and the other has a queen-size bed. The master bedroom is located down the hall at the back of the house, and it boasts a king-size bed, a flatscreen TV, a huge soaking tub, and plenty of storage.
The backyard is another highlight of the home. It has an outdoor living area with a gazebo, patio furniture (for both adults and kids), and a shower with warm water that you can use to rinse off after a day at the beach. The outdoor living area gets the perfect mix of sun and shade, and it's a great place to kick back on the weekends or at the end of a long day. The kids can also play in the backyard while you watch from the family room, dining room, or kitchen. The property is located on a safe and quiet cul-de-sac.
As mentioned, our beach house is only a block and a half from Natural Bridges State Beach, near scenic West Cliff Drive (great for long walks by the ocean!) and the UCSC Seymour Long Marine Lab. You can easily walk to Swift Street, where you'll find winery tasting rooms, yoga studios, New Leaf Market (a mini-Whole Foods), and plenty of restaurants. If you'd like to venture further, the Santa Cruz Boardwalk and Wharf is approximately two miles away.

After taking a break from renting I am excited to reopen my doors to renters. Both the Cabin by the Sea, and the newly constructed ADU are available to rent on a monthly basis. Both units can not be rented at the same time as per local regulations. I will be occupying whichever unit is not being rented.
The cabin is an amazing one bed room, one bath log cabin with ocean views from every window! Walk across the street to your own sandy beach, surf breaks in either direction. Beautiful one mile stroll down West Cliff Dr to the famed Santa Cruz Lighthouse. The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular. Enjoy the outside fire pit, gas barbecue, local hiking/ biking trails. Both Wilder Ranch & Natural Bridges State Beach surround this beautiful historic log cabin.
The ADU is nestled behind the cabin with an enclosed fenced in backyard.

The Space:
The house is big and bright. Located on a corner lot with lots of windows for natural lighting. The house has 3 bedrooms upstairs and 2 full bathrooms. The kids room has lots of toys and books, baby gates for the stairs, a pack in play and portable high chair. Downstairs you will find a 4th bedroom and full bathroom with a walk in shower. Downstairs also has 2 living areas (family and living room) and 2 dining areas(formal and casual). There's plenty of space for up to 9 guests to enjoy the house comfortably. The house is perfect for a group of adults or a family(s) with children. You'll have garage access and a full size washer and dryer. In the garage you'll find 2 kid bikes and an adult bike as well as lots of beach gear. In the well landscaped backyard you'll find visiting Monarch Butterflies, a fire table and chairs, cold outdoor shower to rinse off sand and a BBQ for outdoor cooking. The perfect set up for the laid back Santa Cruz lifestyle.

The Neighborhood:
You will love this house and enjoy that it is just a few minutes walk to West Cliff Drive and Natual Bridges State Beach. This is an ideal family vacation place any time of the year! The house is equipped with bikes, beach chairs, sand toys and beach towels. West Cliff Drive offers white water views of boats, whales, dolphins, sea otters, pelicans and other wildlife. If you enjoy watching surfers catch the ultimate wave head to Steamers Lane near Lighthouse field. In the fall you will see 1000's of Monarch Butterflies during their annual migration. Walk or bike to westside cafes and restaurants, the Lighthouse, Natural Bridges, downtown, the wharf, bakeries and excellent breweries, wineries are a 10-minute bike ride away. Art openings in the neighborhood and a farmer's market each Saturday just .5 miles away. The downtown farmer's market is on Wednesdays. Santa Cruz is the ultimate place to find fresh organic produce. Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is an 8 min drive or 2.4 miles down Delaware Ave.
The neighborhood has a few other vacation rentals mixed long term residents. It is a fairly quiet respectable neighborhood. Nice and clean in one of Santa Cruz's sought after neighborhoods. We ask our guest to follow the Santa Cruz noise ordinance of - No person shall between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. make, cause, suffer or permit to be made any offensive noise (1) which is made within one hundred feet of any building or place regularly used for sleeping purposes, or (2) which disturbs, or would tend to disturb, any person within hearing distance of such noise.
Getting Around:
Uber, LIFT, city transportation and taxis, walking, and biking, JUMP Bike is just around the corner.
Other Things to Note:
Summer! Is a lot of fun in Santa Cruz. There is so much to do! It's a great time to go whale watching or stand up paddleboarding, go for a long bike ride along West Cliff Drive or take a surfing lesson. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk also has great specials during the week that will save you a lot of money without the crowds.
Fall is upon us this means that the beaches aren't packed with people and yet the weather is still warm and beautiful. Humpbacks are still in our bay and you may spot one breaching offshore or get on one of our local Whale Watching tours and you will see so much sea life. This is the season to enjoy watching Grey Whales from the shore as they migrate to Mexico with their calves. There are also many Monarch butterflies across the street at Natural Bridges State Park. You may also spot a few in our backyard.

Designer home and legal short-term rental with its own private half-acre backyard oasis and canyon, right in town. Take a hot tub dip under the trees and watch the wildlife, yet still be walking distance to restaurants and cafes, and only one mile to the ocean, downtown, and UCSC. This is the perfect place for people who are tired of staying at airbnbs that lack amenities or aesthetic quality: there is everything you need here to enjoy a luxury vacation!
Our home is a fully legal short-term rental: Santa Cruz is very strict about this, so know that if you book an unpermitted rental your reservation could be canceled. It's happened to us before as travelers. You can rest assured knowing that your stay here is approved by the city!
The house includes a hot tub, outdoor fire pit, designer furniture and decor, fully fenced in yard for pets, non-toxic and eco-friendly linens and supplies, TV with Netflix and more, and a chef's kitchen. It is filled with sunlight at all times of the day. All beds are sublimely comfortable: there is a king sized bed in the master bedroom, a queen bed in the second master, and a twin daybed in the third room. We can also provide an airbed and/or a crib.
If you have been looking for a rental that is high quality, aesthetically thoughtful and pleasing, and does not lack in supplies or amenities-- this is it. It's difficult to describe the beauty of this house and the very special backyard until you see it in person. We really lucked out finding it and are excited to share it with fellow airbnb-ers who are visiting Santa Cruz. We know you will love it. Pets are welcome and we don't discriminate against breeds.
Heating is available year-round but please note that our radiant (central) heating system is seasonally operative from mid-October to June 1st only. Still, in two out of three bedrooms, there is a wall heater that works fantastically should you need heat when our radiant heat is off. We provide space heaters for the other room and a gas fireplace that produces a lot of heat as well. Our central heater is only available October-June because it is an old radiant heating system that uses a lot of water to heat the house and during the warmer months, the city of Santa Cruz requires us to keep our water use to a minimum. Generally the house stays above 68 degrees in those warmer months even without the fireplace, wall heaters, or space heaters on.
- "Wow, this place was amazing. One of the best VRBO stays I've ever had. It felt like the ultimate spa retreat. Beautiful garden with a private canyon park behind it and hot tub in the garden. I saw lots of deer and felt like I was away from it all but yet I was right in town. The bed was very comfortable, and the kitchen had all of the appliances and amenities I could ever need. Thoughtfully designed and everything was top-of-the-line. It was just a mile from the UCSC entrance and very close to the ocean too. Will definitely book this place again next time I am in Santa Cruz."
