The Space:

This is a gorgeous, one of a kind, gated 2+ acre estate with 2 house structures and a barn, located in between 2 creeks within Soquel community of Santa Cruz Area.
Your rental is the main house which is a large three bedroom, three full bath home with all the amenities you need, a beautiful backyard for outdoor cooking and dining, a gorgeous pool, and a serene back flat field and creek! The field has a running track, large play structure for children under 12, fire pit, gazebo, and so much more to entertain the whole family!

Imagine staying in one of our country’s most desirable location, with a beautifully appointed single level home, privately situated on sunny flat acres right in town. The gated entry, rich landscape, luxurious pool, & extensive outdoor kitchen/dining areas, back field, and the creek provide opportunity to relax in solitude or a gathering. So much to do without leaving the property!!

The House:

The home has gleaming hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, skylights, & windows full of nature that cultivate a peaceful setting for the soul. The gourmet kitchen includes stainless steel appliances, custom cabinetry, and effortlessly opens into the family and dining rooms. This is a large 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom house with 2 living areas and a dining area. There is also a queen size sofa bed in the front living room.
The home is equipped with central heat, but we do not have air conditioning. Being that we at less than 2 miles from the ocean, the coastal breeze keeps the home cool. We suggest opening the windows at night or warmer nights and closing them in the morning. Also, the pool is not heated, therefore, refreshing during hotter months. During the warm months, pool temperature is between 75-85. The back creek is very shaded and serene- imagine your own private piece of Big Sur!
The house is conveniently located within minutes to everything-- walking distance to restaurants and wineries and 1.7 miles from the ocean. Nearest beach is Capitola Beach. Hiking at Medicine Buddha is also a short drive.

Security:

Your safety is our priority. This is a fully gated property in a very safe neighborhood where there is neighborhood watch. The entire external property, including the pool area is under 24/7 video surveillance. Camera 1- Front door and parking area

Bring your bikes (e-bikes are even better!) to explore our charming town and nearby beaches at your leisure. Recently remodeled, this home now boasts a brand-new living room, bedroom, and bathroom, blending modern amenities with the relaxed coastal vibe of the area.

- "Great house!!" - "This was as advertised, good multi-family home for all to enjoy. Very good location with Santa Cruz within 15 minutes, and beaches and restaurants galore. The bedrooms were good, the kitchen was usable with good appliances and plenty of space to work in. There were more "owner" closets and pantries than we thought there would be but it really didn't matter as they provided in room hanging racks. The backyard and patio were exactly what we needed for kids and dog and the living rooms and dining rooms were great gathering areas. Miinor flaw in the place was there were some ants in the bathrooms, and the hot tub was average (heated to good temperature but the bubbles and jets didn't work all that well due to age of the hot tub, I guess). Would highly recommend for small family reunion, which was what our stay was."

This is one of 2 master wings in a beautiful hand-built home on a 5-acre apple orchard. We are 4 miles from the ocean, but the last mile is our driveway, so there is a real sense of seclusion. We built the house with another couple, so the house has 2 private master wings. Our partners moved to be closer to their grandchildren, so their wing is now available.

The master bedroom is quite large. It has a king size bed and a couch that becomes a queen size bed. Separating the beds is a gas fireplace. The 2nd bedroom has a double bed and a large built-in desk. In the same space, but separated by a room divider, there is a partial kitchen, including an under-counter refrigerator, microwave, induction burner, toaster, and kitchenware.

The enormous bathroom is shared by the bedrooms. It has a double vanity, a private toilet room, a 6 foot by 6 foot walk-in shower and an over-size bath tub.

The bathroom and the 2nd bedroom open onto a private deck. There is a gravenstein apple tree over-hanging one end of the deck. If you come stay before mid-August, you can pick fresh apples from the deck!

Offering a quiet, peaceful setting with lots of wildlife (deer, racoon, rabbit, coyote, hawk, owl, etc.), tree diversity (oak, redwood, bay leaf, pine, eucalyptus, palm, etc.), open space and panoramic views, yet within a 5 minute drive to downtown shopping, dining and surfing, the location offers the best of both worlds. The immediate neighborhood has sparse housing (minimum parcel size is 5 acres) and offers an undisturbed and irresistible peace.

You will have access to the 750 square foot, secluded, 100% private downstairs floor with complete disconnection (blocked off) from the (owner occupied) upstairs. Entry is from an exterior doorway. The space includes two large bedrooms (purple and green rooms), a living area (175 sq feet) and 1.5 bathrooms. The purple bedroom has one queen bed. The green bedroom has one double bed and a large bunk bed (supporting 2 adults or children) and one queen bed. We've added a new kitchen nook containing a two-burner electric stove, microwave oven, sink and mini-refrigerator. However, we also discovered that Vienna Woods trailhead into Nisene Marks State Park is only a ten-minute walk from the front door, which was great on a weekend when driving into the park was restricted by recent treefalls and flooding damage."

Quiet, secluded spot tucked into second growth 100-foot redwood trees. Short (less than 100 foot walk) to site. Views overlooking the meadow and across from the avocado orchard! (feel free to pick some avos and pineapple guavas!!!) 10 minutes to town, 12 minutes to Capitola Beach! Bring your boards and your hiking shoes. Hike up the road (10 minutes) for ocean views. See deer, turkeys, and quail in the morning while you sip your favorite hot beverage. Feed the goldfish in the small fish pond! Bring your bikes, boards, and fishing gear. Hop to town for dinner or get takeout sushi and have a drink at your camp.

Parking is a short walk to the site, within a few hundred feet! We have had six total signature sites on our property. Its a short drive up the road (you will need a vehicle with beefy tires or a 4x4) OR you can take a 10 minute walk up the hill to your top of the world ocean views! Look from Monterrey point to Santa Cruz while sitting in seclusion under 100 foot tall redwoods and huge old oaks! Tree swing, archery, and mountain biking are all available. The ridge is great for start gazing and listening to the birds and the insects! You will feel so far away, but yet you are only 10 minutes to town and 12 minutes to Capitola Beach! Run to town for a nice dinner or get some takeout sushi and pop some champagne and watch the sunset.

Your comfort and satisfaction are my top priority! I am available by text 24/7 to resolve any need/concern. Feel free to ask about extending your stay (or coming early) even though the calendar may appear booked. I'm happy to recommend local activities/restaurants or chat about the area as you desire. I can provide beach towels, cooler, chairs and an umbrella if needed. There are three dogs on the premises that can interact or not interact depending on your preference.

Other things to note
There are three adorable (but playful) dogs that live in the main house. Rilee (5 yr old terrier mix), Blue (4 yr old rhodesian ridgeback) and our newest addition Mila (1 yr old boxer puppy) They typically have intermittent access to back yard, however I try to keep them either with me or contained in the house when guests are present. There are also many dogs and dog walkers on our quiet street so you may hear barking on occasion during the day if windows are open. Our tents are located in the Soquel mountains only 10 minutes to the beach! Our glamping experience provides a relaxing, comfortable, and upgraded experience with the wilderness. We are a premier glamping location that is perfectly located near the beach, hiking, wineries, and incredible dining. We take a typical camping experience and level it up! Being in the forest with the beach in the near distance is unlike anything else.

The space
This canvas tent has a queen bed inside, making it the perfect family landing space! We have a BBQ, fire pit, strung lights, and lovely Adirondack chairs. All of these pieces help you take in and enjoy the view and hidden scenery. There is a Flushing camp toilet in an enclosed structure and there is no shower.

Our family friendly space is nestled in a sunny valley up a short windy county road just minutes from Capitola and the beach. Perfect for a small family to enjoy the Santa Cruz-Monterey Bay Area with quick access to the stunning cliffs and redwood valleys. (Parcel No. 10411119) Remodeled bathroom and loft. THERE IS NO STOVE/OVEN - per Santa Cruz County rules guests cannot cook in this unit. There is a private back patio with comfortable outdoor seating as well. Private parking right outside.

Our space is an oasis away from day to day life. Whether you are escaping city life or just want a quiet space to relax, our place has it all. Our newly remodeled bathroom features a brand new tub for unwinding with a cedar wall that gives it a sauna like feel. Our Room & Board king size bed is like sleeping on a cloud. Be prepared to have an amazing night sleep! For your convenience, our smart TV can link to your Netflix, Amazon or HBO account. Enjoy your favorite show or movie in our comfortable, stylish couch or lounging in the bed.

If you are interested in the local arts community and offerings Lara would love to share with you.

Emkay is happiest in Nature. As a child he was always playing in the dirt, climbing trees and getting lost in nature. Emkay worked as a nature camp counselor and later camp director for underserved NYC kids. He loved being in nature for the summer, but flourished teaching urban kids about nature.

Emkay and Lara met at a San Francisco cafe in 1994. Emkay was on a weekend leave from his job in Yosemite and Lara was selling her art in San Francisco. Fast forward 29 years of marriage and we’ve left busy San Francisco, started a family and ultimately moved to this gorgeous property to raise our 4 children in nature.

We are moments away from some of the most desired beaches: 1.8 miles from New Brighton State Beach, 2.5 miles to Seacliff State Beach, and 1.9 miles to beautiful Capitola. We are 4 miles from Nisene Marks State Park which is great for hiking and mountain biking. We have kitchen that includes a sink, microwave, fridge, gas stovetop, and a Keurig coffee maker.

The studio is 400 Sq/ft. It is bright and welcoming. The space is suitable for two adults and two kids with a pull-out couch. There is an awesome little market, AJ’s, that’s just down the street and many other stores/restaurants that are nearby. The space includes a shower, towels, shampoo, conditioner, and a blow dryer available for use. We also have all items that are helpful for hosting children or a baby. We have a pack-n-play, stroller, and toys if needed.

Emkay is happiest in nature. As a child he was always playing in the dirt, climbing trees and getting lost in nature. Emkay worked as a nature camp counselor and later camp director for underserved NYC kids. He loved being in nature for the summer, but flourished teaching urban kids about nature.

Emkay and Lara met at a San Francisco cafe in 1994. Emkay was on a weekend leave from his job in Yosemite and Lara was selling her art in San Francisco. Fast forward 31 years of marriage and we’ve left busy San Francisco, started a family and ultimately moved to this gorgeous property to raise our 4 children in nature.

The hot shower has ecofriendly shampoo and body wash included as well as four fluffy smell good towels - we can provide more if needed. Two fluffy hand towels and two washcloths are in the bathroom as well near the sink (that also has eco-friendly hand washing soap) with an overhanging well lit mirror. Slip into our super comfy queen size bed with sheets, four plump pillows and three cozy blankets (more provided if needed). A small side table has a small lamp and place to charge your devices with a first aid kit and flashlight in the drawer. The dresser in the cabin has plenty of space for your storage of items and we also have hangers for your clothes. The full kitchen has a refigerator will keep your leftovers and food cold before you heat them up with the microwave or full oven and stove. In the morning, enjoy a hot cup of coffee or tea with the coffee maker and organic local coffee, and assortment of teas (let us know what your favorites are and we'll try our best to stock them) Also provided are sweetners and creamers with ceramic mugs with stainless steel spoons. Also provided are two gallons of bottled water for your hydration pleasure. Our cabins are super clean with plenty of charm. We are whole property eco-friendly, with each cabin equipped with 3 independently controlled heaters for energy saving.

From the property, turn left to world renowned mountain biking trails at the Soquel Demonstration Forest. Stop by Summit Market for a delicious lunch where you can watch hawks soar from their patio eating the best tri-tip sandwich in town.

From the property, turn right and head down the hill towards Capitola beach. Capitola Village is home to diverse restaurants, coffee shops, and boutique shopping. This cabin is the perfect location to explore Santa Cruz beaches, mountains, the Beach Boardwalk and culture or just to get away from it all and relax.

You will need a vehicle to get to town or the beach or the abundant hiking and biking trails in the Soquel Demonstration Forest or the Forest of Nisene Marks. We have a private gated parking lot on our property with a parking space designated for your cabin.

We request that you come through the front gate mindfully to watch for the resident kids, our and guests' dogs, 4 resident cats and guests enjoying outdoors on our property. Please abide.

The unit is located in a rural forested area with redwood trees and a private flowing creek. We will do our best, but there will be some dirt, sand and bugs that we can’t prevent, however the trade-off are spectacular hawks, owls with their baby owlets, incredible native birds, the sounds of frogs and many a night sky filled with visible stars.

- CHECK OUT -
Check out is 10am. Late check out will be charged $160/hr past 10am.

- CHILDREN –
The property may not be suitable for small children due to the steep hillside, unfenced infinity pool, and numerous stairs.

- PETS -
NO pets allowed on the property. If you bring a pet to the property there will be a $1500 fine.

- POOL HEATING –
** Pool heating requires 24hr notice prior to check in & cannot heat for a portion of your stay, we require all nights **

+ Nov - Apr: Not recommended due to heating costs for 100% propane fuel

- SPA HEATING –
Spa heating is included in your stay. You can heat it between 100-103 degrees. Heating it above 103 can damage the heater. If heater is damaged, guest will be charged. Spa heats up in about 30 minutes. So make sure to turn it on prior to wanting to use it.

- HVAC –
It is very rare for it to be hot enough to warrant A/C and most houses in this area
do not have it installed. Thus, there is only A/C in the master bedroom (wall unit) and
theater room (Nest thermostat) Each bedroom also has small fans for additional cooling.
Please keep windows and doors closed during the hotter days and use fans and A/C
+ The house is heated on a hydronic floor system and controlled remotely at 71
degrees. If you would like the house warmer, please let us know and we can
adjust specific rooms.
+ There are two portable heaters located in downstairs bedrooms for additional
local heat if needed.

- SMOKING –
$1000 fine for smoking and immediate termination of your rental. SMOKING is not allowed in the house or anywhere on the property. The ONLY acceptable place to smoke is off property on the road. If you smoke on the street, you MUST carry an ashtray with you (not provided). This region is extremely dry and any open flame puts the entire area in danger of fire.

- QUIET HOURS -
No loud noises between the hours of 10 pm - 8 am. Please respect our neighbors. Noise violations will result in immediate termination without refund.

- EVENTS –
Absolutely NO events or parties. Neighbors will quickly call us. Your stay will be immediately terminated and no refund given.

- OTHER RULES –
+ Please turn off spa when not in use.
+ No eating or drinking in the bedrooms or theater.

Considerations:
We're at the end of a winding mountain road, 3 min from the main road, up in the Soquel Hills. The road up has several speed bumps that really must be taken slowly, and several somewhat steep switch-back turns.

Very private, though sound can carry, and parties, additional guests and gatherings could cause complaints, and are not allowed. Feel free to request reasonable exceptions in your booking inquiry. Only people on the registered guest list can come to the property.

The house has lots of steps and levels, both on the way into the house, and while walking throughout, in addition to a short, beautiful, wrought-iron staircase to the upper levels. The house is not child proof. If you request to have children stay at the property, you agree to hold the host blameless in the event of any mishap.

We provide one set of bed linens for each bed, one sets of bath towels and one spa towel per registered guest. You can launder them during your stay if necessary.

Cleaning fee is based on you leaving the property in good condition upon checkout, as described in the rental agreement. Extra charges may apply if additional housekeeping services are required.
