This picturesque holiday villa finds itself under a vegetation cover, and in spite of being completely underground, is characterised by bright and colourful rooms. Its 180 m2 comprise three bedrooms, two with a double bed each, and one with two bunk beds, one of which right on the top of a rock. Moreover, the villa features one bathroom with ground caved bathtub, a dining-living room with fireplace, a thoroughly equipped independent kitchen and a sauna/steam bath for up to four people. The outdoor area’s 1000 m2 are full of gardens with gorgeous fountains and crystal-clear ponds, a glazed barbecue area with a complete kitchen and a living room, a welcoming Jacuzzi, a solarium and a wonderful private swimming pool, where you can relax while enjoying the marvellous views of the surrounding mountains.

Abschließend eine kalte Dusche draußen und ein eiskaltes Bad zum Abschecken im Pool (zumindest im Februar), der erfreulicherweise das ganze Jahr über gefüllt ist. Ganz toll für uns war, dass man den Hund mitbringen darf. Keine Angst, liebe Hundebesitzer, die Hühnchen und Pfauen können auch eingesperrt werden, falls ein Hund - wie unserer - gern mal auf die Jagd geht! Als kleinen Bonus bekommt man frische Eier, wenn man sich gut um die süßen Zwerghühnchen kümmert und sie füttert. Jose ist großartig, herzlich und wirklich immer ansprechbar, wenn man etwas benötigt. Malaga also is under an hour - visit the delicious food market, see the birthplace of Picasso, and wander the cobbled streets full of tapas bars and ice-cream parlours. Cordoba, with its famous Mezquita, is 90 minutes away and makes a fascinating day-trip.

There are various animals around the property, cats, dogs and donkeys. The cats sometimes go into the villa, so anyone with allergies should be aware of this.
The owner lives in a separate house in a field below the villa, and takes care of pool maintenance and the garden.

A beautiful, traditionally renovated Andalusian cortijo, perfectly designed for large group getaways. El Cachete is a 150 year old farmhouse set in 80 acres of beautiful olive groves. The cortijo was bought in 2000 and the owners, Jim and Mary Cairns, have done extensive work on the property to ensure that it can accommodate not only a large number of people (up to 20) but also a variety of activities, whilst putting minimal strain on the environment. The cortijo has been designed to be as eco-friendly as possible; the water is sourced from its own well and there are solar panels to heat the water. Whatever you're looking for from a group holiday rental, this cortijo has it; whether that be swimming in the 20 metre long, 2.75 metre deep pool, soaking up the sun, playing ping pong, or seeking out one of the hidden cubby holes - perfect for reading or simply having some ‘me time’.

A laundry room can be found close to the kitchen.

There are tables around the courtyard at the front of the property and also on the terrace at the rear; both providing shaded dining areas at different times of the day.

There are two separate living rooms within the house; the larger main sitting room has a television, piano, speakers and a bar area. The smaller room is a shady, calm area perfect for children to chill out.

We have two friendly dogs, that come and go during the day.

- "This villa is wonderful. It’s in quite a remote location so car hire is essential. Perfect if you are looking for peace and quiet, or avoiding the general public! The local supermarkets are 15-20 minute drive. The pool area and outside bar are amazing, we set ourselves up there everyday! The rooms are clean and well laid out with everything you could need. The kitchen is very traditional, and the only thing we missed was a kettle (could be a British thing) The hosts are lovely and came in and cleaned the pool whilst we were there. Although our Spanish is basic we used our phones to translate and everything was fine. They were available on message if we needed them. Excursions to Málaga, Granada, and Córdoba are also very easily undertaken from here. The beaches of the Costa del Sol are less than 50 km away. An ideal little house for a family.

Villa situated close to the town of Loja, in the region of Loja, province of Granada, Andalucia.

The space
This picturesque holiday villa finds itself under a vegetation cover, and in spite of being completely underground, is characterised by bright and colourful rooms. Its 180 m2 comprise three bedrooms, two with a double bed each, and one with two bunk beds, one of which right on the top of a rock. Moreover, the villa features one bathroom with ground caved bathtub, a dining-living room with fireplace, a thoroughly equipped independent kitchen and a sauna/steam bath for up to four people. The home is provided with air-con and heating in the bedrooms.

The outdoor area’s 1000 m2 are full of gardens with gorgeous fountains and crystal-clear ponds, a glazed barbecue area with a complete kitchen and a living room, a welcoming Jacuzzi, a solarium and a wonderful private swimming pool, where you can relax while enjoying the marvellous views of the surrounding mountains.

The access to the house, which also provides its guests with private parking, is completely paved and shared among the neighbours. Only the last 30 metres are of a completely-levelled dirt track.

Cortijo Blanquillo is set in the hills in olive growing land with views of mountains, winding roads and spectacular valleys.

We have lovingly restored this 100 year old Cortijo and gardens; retaining traditional features, modernising and adding homely touches. Joining three houses into one it is spacious, airy space to enjoy getting away from it all.

A double height entrance hall way with traditional beams leads to a long, airy lounge and a large open plan kitchen diner - both spaces lead to an internal courtyard with a perfect splash pool and further dining and BBQ areas.

The splash pool is ideal for families with children (3mx3mx0.75m deep).

Upper levels have four bedrooms with two ensuite and one leading to a further private terrace.

There are multiple exterior spaces to sit and read, enjoy a glass of wine or stare off into the distance.

The back courtyard houses a laundry and two more seating spaces, one under a fig tree and one shaded.

If you like to explore you can visit traditional hill top villages, castles, churches or cave houses or just simply wander through the olive trees.

Loja is the nearest very traditional Spanish town with loads of bars and restaurants and place of interest to visit.

The nearest villages are Zagra and Ventorros de San Jose with bars, small local shops and bakeries.

if you want to visit a larger pool the nearest is in Zagra- - ten minutes by car. A large, lovely salt outdoor community pool with showers, changing areas, restaurant and ice cream kiosk. Two euros per day for adults, one for children. Grass areas to lie on or seats- pool used by all the locals- very chilled.

Granada is the nearest city, train from Loja or drive of about one hour.

There is a lovely lake nearby for freshwater swimming. In Iznajar with waterspouts offered. About 30 minutes drive.

Guest access
The entire cortijo and all the outside spaces are yours to enjoy. You can wander through the olive trees in any direction.

There is further family guest house on site but it is unoccupied during your visit.

We are off the main road on a farm land track through the olive trees - it has recently been fully concreted.

In general the roads are in a good state locally but it is a remote, rural area and the roads and tracks are not like driving in cities. You have to be a competent driver to cope with these roads and tracks.

The barn has been converted into a comfortable and stylish apartment, decorated in rustic Spanish style. Explore the traditional local villages, the Sierra Nevada mountains with their white washed villages nestling in their valleys, or down to the Mediterranean Sea or simply laze around our stunning pool and enjoy the tranquility that El Granero offers you.

The space
El Granero is entered through a private courtyard which, with the old gates closed, makes a safe environment for your young children if you are in the appartment. The rooms are tiled with terracotta floor tiles and along with the shuttered windows provides a cool place to sit when you have had enough sun. The lounge, dining area and kitchen are open plan and offer everything you need for your stay. The sofa and two armchairs are comfortable. There is air conditioning in this main room. The main double bedroom has a ceiling fan and a safe. It looks out onto the courtyard. The twin room has two single beds and a ceiling fan. It looks out onto the olive groves. In the wardrobe you can find and iron and ironing board. We provide all linen (as well as beach towels) The shower room has towels, hand soap and a hairdryer. In the courtyard in the store house is a washing machine (we supply powder for your use) and recycling bins.

The courtyard and pool are exclusively for our guests use. Although we live on site in the main house we give our guests complete privacy. The pool can't be seen from our house. You may see us for cleaning the pool and watering plants.

We have dogs and chickens. If you need to be dog free they can be kept in our private courtyard.

There are various spaces around the property where we've put small tables and chairs for your convenience. Feel free to move things around so you can be comfortable wherever you are.

The roof terrace has seating but take the furniture from poolside up to the roof if you want to sunbathe.

Other things to note
There is a beautiful lake 30 mins drive away from us if you want to swim in fresh water. You may drive your car right down the beach to the waters edge and set up your picnic for the day. If you prefer something hot there is a restaurant that serves a great choice of food. The bar is well stocked, you can sit outside and enjoy the scenery, or if you prefer, there tables inside too.

Lake Iznazjar also offers, paddle boarding, kayaking and various other opportunities for you so you can take to the water.

The lake is not known to tourists, if you go Monday to Friday it will not be crowded, the locals usually go at the weekends.

You can also be at the beach within an hour from our property, please just ask and we will provide you with details.

The Alambra is 45 mins away in the city of Granada, and when in season, the Sierra Nevada Mountains provide the opportunity for you to Ski.

The space
If you are looking for a beautiful rural retreat, you won't find a better, or more authentic setting than this. The location is magnificent with rolling hills of olives, almonds, oak and pine all around, and views in every direction as far as you can see. It's classic Andalusian countryside at its very best.

This attractively restored farmhouse has a fabulous setting in a fabulous location. In the midst of some of Andalusia's most genuine countryside. Once upon a time this was just a humble, crumbling rural ruin. No longer! It has been completely rebuilt, renovated and extended by its English owners into a beautiful, spacious five bedroom holiday home.

One enters into an external courtyard with a giant oak tree welcoming your arrival, through traditional double wooden doors and into a central internal courtyard, complete with an Andalusian tiled fountain - – a perfect spot to enjoy morning coffee or breakfast.

The internal courtyard is at the centre of the house, from here doors and stairs lead to its various “wings”. One door leads directly into the hub of the house, the main living area, divided into varying environments for reading, TV, games , dining and cooking.

First, the games or reading area with a built in sofa and comfy 2 seater, low coffee table and a large screen for games and movies.

Through to the sitting, dining and kitchen areas - The kitchen is well equipped, thoroughly modern and efficient, light and bright, with all mod-cons: electric oven, 5 ring gas hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, it also has a walk in larder with a 2nd freezer to store the extra ice and ice-cream for those hot Andalusian days. A centre island unit with two stools adds work space and a place to drink your morning tea, or coffee made by the coffee machine available. A glass dining table seating 8/10 makes the inside dining area fully functional to fit all the villa residents in one sitting.

At the other side of the room the living area with two large, comfy sofas, a glass fronted fire place for the cooler evenings and big French windows opening onto a terrace with the most wonderful views!!

The two downstairs bedrooms are accessed from this living room. First a twin with en suite shower room, then two steps down to a well appointed double bedroom with en suite bathroom and access to a lovely little private terrace for two, looking through pine trees to the same spectacular views – Or on the other side of the room a door leads back to the central patio. These two interconnecting rooms are ideal for a family with children – But also the door can be closed and they can both become totally private and independent.

On this ground level there is also a WC/laundry room that can be accessed from the dining area or from the pool area providing easy access for those lazy pool days.

From the living room, stairs lead up to the master bedroom. A large, light, bright room with high ceilings, whitewashed walls and terracotta floors and a super-king sized bed – A truly relaxing space. The en suite bathroom is in keeping with the bedroom: large, light and what views! It has a walk in shower and a freestanding claw-bath (with shower).

From the master bedroom, there are doors on one side that open on to a small terrace looking on to the “era” (the old stone threshing circle) at the back of the house. On the other side, there are doors that open onto the most spectacular sun terrace, complete with sun loungers and views of the hills and mountains that roll and roll across the vast, undulating horizon which sweeps out in front of you. There can be no better place from where to enjoy the sunsets and the night skies - Truly spectacular. From this terrace a backstairs can take you down to the pool area.

Back at the central courtyard a metal stair and walkway leads up to what remains of the original old farm house, now converted into two lovely bedrooms. One double, with access onto the large “era” at the back of the house. The other room in this part of the house is a long room with vaulted ceiling, Kingsize bed and fabulous Juliet balcony double doors. It enjoys plenty of natural light, excellent views and the charm of the old, rustic country cortijo. These rooms share a large shower room - which also has incredible views!

The inside of the house is comfortable and pleasing but, for sure, you will be spending most of your time outside. There is so much outdoor space.... and what lovely space.

From the kitchen, large glass doors open onto the pool area, and oh what a pool! If in the mood to relax in the sun, you will no doubt simply while away happy hour after happy hour enjoying the sun, or under a parasol, on one of the many sun beds, daydreaming the day away – Or, if in the mood for relaxing in the shade, you can levitate towards the well placed outdoor Moroccan relaxation area under the shade of a majestic alcarrobo tree - the built-in benches, topped with plush cushions, are an ideal place for an afternoon siesta or just chilling - A real oasis of calm.

Directly outside the kitchen a wide porch runs along the length of the house. To the right of the doors a long tiled dining table and chairs, to the left yet another sitting area with sofas which is a lovely spot to enjoy a glass of wine or to eat outside in the fresh air.

On the far side of the pool is, yet another, covered dining area and a large outdoor kitchen with a built in BBQ .

In all, a perfect place to lounge next to the pool, dine alfresco, or take in the surrounding landscape.

In addition to all of the space both inside and outside the house, for those that like to work out or socialize in a smaller group there is a large external games room next to the era and terraced gardens with a pool table, small bar area and gym equipment – perfect for any teenagers in the group or just those young at heart!

Please note that during peak summer season (July and August) we require check in and check outs to be on Saturdays wherever possible - but if you cant please let me know!
