- "Myself & my partner stayed here for 2 nights. Unfortunately the photos on the website do not represent the actual rooms that you get. For some reason, the lovely tiled floors in the photos have since been replaced with a dark red, dirty carpet which instantly makes the room feel unclean. The shower head did not prop up. On arrival the toilet seat had dried up urine all over it. The red carpet had dead flies & many black hairs on it. There was often a very strange loud mystery noise that vibrated our room on an evening, it almost sounded like a helicopter kept landing on the roof (which obviously wasn’t the case.) I appreciate white walls are hard to keep clean but the walls were very dirty with a large amount of mould, as shown in the photos. We were looking forward to this hotel due to the reviews and the photos but we were unfortunately very disappointed. On a positive note, the one staff member in the hotel was very accommodating and very kind."

Oatlands is a great choice, we had the cosiness of a period bungalow with access to the larger St.Andrews hotel for meals if we wished. On one occasion after visiting World's End, we opted to dine in the dining room in the bunglow. There is a small wetland area next to the hotel vegetable garden, which may be of interest to birders. Overall we had a wonderful stay at Oatlands."

As i understand it has 6 rooms, and a pool table in the loft. Great staff. There is no lift but its not an issue. There are small things they need to see to. - "The opportunity to stay in a villa surrounded by tea fields was too hard to miss out on. We arrived from Badula on the train and were welcomed by the staff at the house. It was clean and comfortable and a 15 minute walk into town. The next morning we were given a great breakfast and then walked into the tea field adjoining the property. We watched the local women picking and sorting tea leaves. Certainly an authentic experience as we were in their backyard. The staff we very helpful in organising our dinner to be delivered from a restaurant in town for us. We provide an authentic experience to stay with a Sinhalese family on our farm. We love to welcome people with our warm hospitality and having lived here for generations we know all the local excursions which we are more than happy to help you with.

The space
"Green Cottage" is very close to Nuwara-Eliya town, but not busy area. It's calm, greenary and quiet environment.

The Space
Panoramic views of our farm growing leeks and other fruits with a backdrop of the misty hills of Nuwara Eliya brings all our guests peace and rejuvenation. We are also only a 5-10 minute walk into the centre where there are lots of restaurants, cafes and shops. The room is cosy and traditional with your own ensuite bathroom which includes a hot shower at any time of the day. Strong wifi is also offered just ask us on arrival!

The living room is offered as a communal space where we will welcome you as part of the family. Our little daughter loves to share her teddy bear and we love to chat to new friends. You also have access to the balcony with views of the whole of Nuwara Eliya and our farm. Don't forget to look up at the clear sky filled with stars in our peaceful homestay.
