Watch for nesting endangered loggerheads turtles that nest annually May-September on the beach directly in front of the home EVERY year. Walk with the turtle patrol at sunrise as you learn to look for the telltale signs that a momma has given birth to over 100 eggs in a nights labor.

Harbor Island is adjacent to Hunting Island State Park (SC’s most popular park), and the St Helena Sound/Ace Basin This secluded location provides a bit calmer beach in the summertime than other areas in SC, providing a variety of smaller lapping waves, ideal for paddle boarding, kayaking and families with children, seniors or guests with mobility challenges. Based on daily and or seasonal wind conditions, you can also have higher waves for surfing, bogie boarding and body surfing. Fishing and crabbing is ideal all over the island depending on what you desire to catch.

Enjoyed seeing fish jumping, turtles being born, and dolphins swimming on our beach walks. The location provides many comforts of safety. We stayed there in late July and the waves were never higher than my knee and the pull of the current was good for our family with 4 kids under 10. We had great communication with our host. We used the elevator and the golf cart. Both were nice to have access to. The elevator was a great blessing for my father in law. Thank you! I liked some other simple things like pump hand soap ready at each sink. The hot and cold shower available outside was nice. Outdoor beach toy availability was very nice. The numerous indoor ceiling fans are nice along with the covered decking is very nice. The leaf available for the main dining room table was a great benefit to us. We enjoyed fishing right in front of the house and caught something each night. The house was great for my family’s needs. We had a 13, 9, 8, 7 and 8 month old. The streets were safe for bike rides. The house met all my expectations and I was very happy with our vacation."

- "Great location for adults who are more interested in spending time at the adult pool and beach. The issues with our stay only had to do with Fripp, the resort - the Bonito Boathouse was closed due to an infestation of some sort, and both the Olympic pool and Cabana pool which we wanted to check out were closed for maintenance issues." - "the location was great and very convenient , the apt cleanliness needs to be reviewed. the floor was extremely dirty . I had to call to get the Ac filter changed and the unit had a foul smell so we had to spray lysol in the apt. if we take that out of the rquation , we really had a great time and loved visiting there ."

- "Cute area that was a relaxing getaway." - "This listing is through a third party and the communication was terrible! The whole process was confusing, but the ladies at guest services were great! The listing said only 2 people, but the room has a queen bed, a set of bunk beds and comes with 4 cards. The room was super cute, but it was extremely damp. I found mold growing in the pictures over the bed and woke up with a stuffy nose and headache. Guest services said they would put in a work order, hopefully they will install a dehumidifier. The walls were very thin!! The sound of the people's headboard next door, among other noises, couldn't even be drowned out by the tv in my room. :o The step up into the shower is very high, if you have mobility problems and plan to shower I do not recommend this room. The pool is awesome though and the island is great! Maybe it was just that one room? The ladies at the resort seemed very sincere in their apologies and hopefully will address the mold issue."
