The space
Chalet Aiarei, once part of a traditional "Maso"—a historic farmstead in the local Tirol dialect—dates back to the 14th century. Originally built as one of the primary structures within this rural ensemble, it has been beautifully restored and thoughtfully decorated to offer a warm and inviting retreat.
Nestled in the charming hamlet of Aiarei, right in the heart of the Dolomites, the chalet is constructed from natural materials such as timber and stone, blending seamlessly with its surroundings, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
Large windows frame breathtaking panoramic views of the majestic Dolomite mountains, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the serene beauty of the alpine landscape. The Hamlet of Aiarei is 4.5 Km up above the main road.
As for skiing, you can go down to "Piccolino", where the ski lift takes you up to Plan de Korones, this 9.6 Km from the house.
You can also go to "La Villa", 16 km from the house, which latches onto the Sella Ronda (map on my photos)
There is a very good Pizzeria just at the bottom of the road, Il Trafoi.
There are bars , pubs and typical restaurants everywhere.
There is a free of charge ski bus stop at the bottom of our road, that goes to la Villa and down to Piccolino.

The space
Chalet Liosa was built by my grandparents in 1960, when the Dolomites and Corvara were not yet world famous. My grandmother Carola was a noble lady from Venice aristocracy and one of the first alpine climber women of her times, she fell in love with the Dolomites, bought the best piece of land and built Chalet Liosa for her large family.

In 2021, we comletely renovated Chalet Liosa with high-end finishes, eco-materials and antique furnitures of the family. We also enhanced the location with floor-to-ceiling windows that "frame" the mountains in the background.

Unlike any other apartment for rent, this is a true private family house, where the traditional alpine style come together with antique fornitures, historical family pictures, all the modern comforts to create a unique, natural and warm atmoshpere for our beloved guests.

The garden is very quiet, facing south-south/west and therefore sunny throughout the whole day. On the ground floor there is a ski-room with boot dryer and on the first floor there is a laundery room with brand new washer and brand new dryer.

The garden, the ski-room and the laundery-room are are shared with the other guests of Chalet Liosa.

All five rooms have been refurbished using the same natural materials, which underline the unique traditional style of the house.
The sitting area is representative of an old courtyard, and the veranda offers a stunning view of the valley to the south. Similarly, the two double rooms opposite are entirely covered with old wood, which makes them look inviting, while also revealing their excellence in quality. Two bright and spacious rooms are located on the top floor, impressing the guests with their spacious bathrooms and high ceilings. Since these walls were made in the historical era, sound insulations are not built in the walls around the halls. Well, it’s another new experience to hear your neighbor on the stairs in the evening, laughing and enjoying their stay at the "oldest residence in Alta Badia."
An enormous highlight is undoubtedly the sauna, which is found in the ancient substructure of the house. We have taken intricate care while preserving the sauna as much as possible, especially with the old stone walls and the centuries-old beams. The walls have been carefully repaired, and the lighting has been operated with the same care. The space
--A BIT OF HISTORY--
Chalet Liosa was built by my grandmother Carola Nani Mocenigo in 1960 when Corvara was still an unknown village high up in the mountains. Carola was the last descendant of the noble family Nani Mocenigo from Venice and was the first alpine woman climber of her time. She sponsored the Italian expedition to conquer K2 (Himalaya) in XXX, and two peaks were named after her and her sister Elena, Torre Carola and Torre Elena respectively, after their first ascent. Carola fell in love with Corvara and the Dolomites, bought this land, and built Chalet Liosa for her large family of 8 children. Ever since, it has been our family holiday retreat for four generations.

Chalet Liosa is the ideal solution for guests looking for a true family home (unlike most anonymous Airbnb homes where nobody actually lives), combining tradition and modernity, generous space, modern comforts, and of course, the best location possible.


--LIVING SPACE--
Penthouse Sassongher features 120 m2 of living space, plus a 10 m2 balcony.

It features:
- 2 master bedrooms with one ensuite bathroom each
- 1 bedroom with two bunk beds
- 1 more bathroom
- 1 living room with an open kitchen
- 1 laundry room
- 1 balcony.

The two master bedrooms are generous and have ensuite bathrooms and walk-in closets. Both are finely decorated with weathered old wood and antique furniture. The bedroom facing west has a floor-to-ceiling window with magnificent views of the Sellaronda, Passo Gardena, and Sassongher. The other bedroom has one large window and a ceiling window, offering plenty of light.

The bedroom with two bunk beds sleeps 4, with adult-sized beds and mattresses. The independent large bathroom serves the bunk bed room.

The spacious living room has a large floor-to-ceiling window with the best views of the Dolomites and the village of Corvara, along with two more windows on the south side towards Sella Group and Piz Boe. The kitchen is open to the living room and fully equipped (fridge, freezer, oven, microwave, induction stove, dishwasher, mixer, bread heater). The table can accommodate 10 people easily or 12 more cozily. In the center, an eco-friendly and kid-safe fireplace powered by electricity from renewable resource, water steam, and optional fireplace crackling sound.

The long balcony facing south and west offers an unlimited view of the Dolomites and the famous "enrosadira," when the Dolomites' rocky mountains turn pink and orange at sunrise and sunset.

The laundry room is private to the Penthouse Sassongher and contains a washing machine and a dryer.


--COMMON AREAS--
On the ground floor, there is a ski room with a boot dryer and glove dryer.

The garden is an oasis of nature, a terrace overlooking the mountains, facing south-southwest and sunny throughout the day. Thanks to the slightly elevated position of Chalet Liosa compared to the village, it receives one more hour of direct sunlight at sunset compared to the village at the bottom of the valley. There are sunbeds and a table with benches where one can enjoy drinks and snacks.

Finally, there is on-site parking available.
