Set in Ohakune in the Manawatu region, Dakune Chalet provides a good base for families or small groups, and is in an area where guests can engage in activities such as skiing, cycling and hiking. Turoa ski field is 19km away, and Whakapapa ski field is 52 km from the accommodation, while the Tongariro Alpine crossing is around 55 km from the property. This chalet is equipped with a flat-screen TV and a fully equipped kitchenette with an oven and kettle. The property boasts a barbecue and a garden, which can be enjoyed by guests if the weather permits.

The Powder Hut is a cute wee chalet within walking distance of the town centre, supermarket and the Junction.
The chalet sleeps 6 people with the master queen bedroom downstairs and a queen and two singles on an open plan mezzanine floor.

Bed linen and towels are provided as part of the rental - beds must be stripped and linen and towels placed in the laundry basket prior to departure.
Bed quilts and blankets must be returned to the beds neat and tidy ready for the next guests.

The chalet is heated via a heat pump that allows for instant heating and cooling across the seasons. There is a 42 inch plasma TV and a DVD player along with a selection of DVDs. for your use.

The chalet DOES NOT have WiFi.

The laundry has a washing machine, dryer and tub. Washing powder is provided. Please clean out the dryer filter after use.
The chalet has a separate toilet and a bathroom with the shower over the bath.

CLEANING - as part of the Kiwi bach culture, the guests are to clean and tidy the property and do the dishes before they depart, leaving the property ready for the next guests. If the house is not clean and tidy and ready for the next guests, a cleaning charge will apply ($80.00). This will be charged against the $100.00 hold on your credit card.
Please request cleaning services if you require them and we can arrange a cleaner.
Cleaning products are available for your use and a vacuum and mop are in the laundry cupboard.
The property is inspected by our property manager after each guest leaves, they send us a report and photos.

RUBBISH must be removed from the property, Council rubbish bags are available from the supermarket and a map showing the location of the Transfer station is on the noticeboard.

Our Chalet sleeps five comfortably, and is designed for couples and families. We require a minimum of 2 nights stay. It is located just 10 minutes walk from the nightlife of Ohakune’s ‘Junction’ area. Besides the cafes, bars and restaurants you’ll find just beyond the door, there are mountain bike trails, cross-country walks and stunning rivers all nearby. Most importantly, Turoa ski field is only a 20-minute drive up the mountain road.

The chalet's open-plan living/dining area means the cook of your party won’t be shut away on their own while whipping up a feast in the fully equipped kitchen. The double-glazed windows, super-insulated rooms, heat pump are bound to keep you toasty in the winter.

Plus, should you want to stay indoors and relax, there is Freeview TV and a good selection of DVDs. There are also board games to keep you happy.

- "We had a great stay here for the week as a family of 4. The kids had plenty of room within the one bedroom, which comes with a bunk bed and spare single if required. The kids loved sharing the space, which also included generous storage. The master bedroom was comfortable, with the bed fitted with heated blankets for the winter. It didn’t need long as the house retained the heat really well. The living space was well sized and tidy, with the property also proving a number of games to play on the rainy days. A big plus for us was the drying room. This saved a lot of wet clothes being dragged around. The mezzanine floor is not available as may be implied by the photos. Everything is on one level but provides more than enough room. Overall we’d come back here again."

From the covered car port you enter through the aforementioned blue door and find the three bedrooms downstairs along with a full bath, spa, and a full laundry room and drying room for wet gear. Snowberry Lane is perfectly located, across from the Mangawhero River walkway, a three minute drive from town centre with its' restaurants and bars, and is on the mountain road up to Turoa ski field.
