Set in Ohakune in the Manawatu region, Dakune Chalet provides a good base for families or small groups, and is in an area where guests can engage in activities such as skiing, cycling and hiking. Turoa ski field is 19km away, and Whakapapa ski field is 52 km from the accommodation, while the Tongariro Alpine crossing is around 55 km from the property. This chalet is equipped with a flat-screen TV and a fully equipped kitchenette with an oven and kettle. The property boasts a barbecue and a garden, which can be enjoyed by guests if the weather permits.

The Powder Hut is a cute wee chalet within walking distance of the town centre, supermarket and the Junction.
The chalet sleeps 6 people with the master queen bedroom downstairs and a queen and two singles on an open plan mezzanine floor.

Bed linen and towels are provided as part of the rental - beds must be stripped and linen and towels placed in the laundry basket prior to departure.
Bed quilts and blankets must be returned to the beds neat and tidy ready for the next guests.

The chalet is heated via a heat pump that allows for instant heating and cooling across the seasons. There is a 42 inch plasma TV and a DVD player along with a selection of DVDs. for your use.

The chalet DOES NOT have WiFi.

The laundry has a washing machine, dryer and tub. Washing powder is provided. Please clean out the dryer filter after use.
The chalet has a separate toilet and a bathroom with the shower over the bath.

CLEANING - as part of the Kiwi bach culture, the guests are to clean and tidy the property and do the dishes before they depart, leaving the property ready for the next guests. If the house is not clean and tidy and ready for the next guests, a cleaning charge will apply ($80.00). This will be charged against the $100.00 hold on your credit card.
Please request cleaning services if you require them and we can arrange a cleaner.
Cleaning products are available for your use and a vacuum and mop are in the laundry cupboard.
The property is inspected by our property manager after each guest leaves, they send us a report and photos.

RUBBISH must be removed from the property, Council rubbish bags are available from the supermarket and a map showing the location of the Transfer station is on the noticeboard.

The large warm chalet, heated by a log fire place and also electric aircon is perfect for families and/or larger groups of friends - with 4 bedrooms, 3 queen, 2 singles - sleeping 8.

Sporting an open-plan, good sized kitchen, dinning and lounge, perfect for socialising. Also a modern bathroom, unlimited mains pressure gas hot water and separate toilet.

Our Chalet sleeps five comfortably, and is designed for couples and families. We require a minimum of 2 nights stay. It is located just 10 minutes walk from the nightlife of Ohakune’s ‘Junction’ area. Besides the cafes, bars and restaurants you’ll find just beyond the door, there are mountain bike trails, cross-country walks and stunning rivers all nearby. Most importantly, Turoa ski field is only a 20-minute drive up the mountain road.

The chalet's open-plan living/dining area means the cook of your party won’t be shut away on their own while whipping up a feast in the fully equipped kitchen. The double-glazed windows, super-insulated rooms, heat pump are bound to keep you toasty in the winter.

Plus, should you want to stay indoors and relax, there is Freeview TV and a good selection of DVDs. There are also board games to keep you happy.

- "We had a great stay here for the week as a family of 4. The kids had plenty of room within the one bedroom, which comes with a bunk bed and spare single if required. The kids loved sharing the space, which also included generous storage. The master bedroom was comfortable, with the bed fitted with heated blankets for the winter. It didn’t need long as the house retained the heat really well. The living space was well sized and tidy, with the property also proving a number of games to play on the rainy days. A big plus for us was the drying room. This saved a lot of wet clothes being dragged around. The mezzanine floor is not available as may be implied by the photos. Everything is on one level but provides more than enough room. Overall we’d come back here again."

From the covered car port you enter through the aforementioned blue door and find the three bedrooms downstairs along with a full bath, spa, and a full laundry room and drying room for wet gear. You can even keep your bikes or skis in the lockable storage room in the carport.

The stairs lead to the inviting open plan living space upstairs where you find a full kitchen, dining table, sofas, and deck with mountain views. The Blue Door Chalet's three bedrooms and 1.5 baths, sleep up to 8 comfortably (max 6 adults). A queen bed, two-sets of bunk beds, a king single, and a roll out trundler bed (single) make it easy to accomodate various groups of families.

Snowberry Lane is perfectly located, across from the Mangawhero River walkway, a three minute drive from town centre with its' restaurants and bars, and is on the mountain road up to Turoa ski field.

The region has tons to offer from winter sports to summer fun, and adventure to relaxing. Skiers, snowboarders, bikers, hikers, and anglers will all find more to do than they have time for.

Dakune Chalet is the ideal accommodation for any season!

The chalet is warm and cosy, and features a log fire, large TV (with DVDs and Netflix), wifi, surround sound system, CDs, and board games.

The accommodation has three bedrooms with one opening out to a private sunny deck. The bedrooms sleep 8. A sofa bed in the lounge can accommodate an additional 2 people.

The Chalet is 15 minutes walk to the train station, bars and restaurants and in close proximity to spectacular walks, ski fields of Whakapapa (50 mins) and Turoa (20 mins).

It's a great area to hang-out and relax, has modern facilities and is a wonderful location for small school groups, families, weddings, or holidays.

The chalet is located at the Junction end of town, just a 5 minute stroll to restaurant’s , bars, cafes and coffee. The supermarket is a 5 minute drive.

Turoa Ski Field is only a 19 minute drive, and Whakapapa is 50 minutes away.

There is unlimited fibre and a 55” smart TV, you can enjoy endless movies and entertainment while watching your own streaming services.

The gas fireplace warms up the chalet within minutes, you can relax on the couch with a good book, or whip up a delicious meal in the fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher to help with the clean up. There is a Breville Nespresso coffee machine (pod’s), with milk frother to help you with those early morning starts.

Once you’ve finished your adventures for the day, there is plenty of room to hang your gear in the drying room. Fitted with a dehumidifier, your gear will be nice and dry ready for the next day.

Bedrooms
Sleeping up to five guests, it’s ideal for a small family or two couples. You’ll be toasty warm with the feather/down duvets. One bedroom has a king size luxury orthopaedic bed and the other has a queen size luxury orthopaedic merino bed, and a king single. There are also electric blankets and panel heaters in both bedrooms. They also have 32” smart TV’s fitted on the wall.

Spa
After a big day of adventures, you can soak in the spa and take in the picturesque views of Mt Ruapehu.

Of note:
The chalet is close to the train station/tracks, there are freight trains that go past in the day/evening, however this isn't frequently.

Our home has been designed with couples in mind, providing a relaxing break in the Mountain town of Ohakune, with excellent mountain bike trails, tramping & skiing nearby. However it is very comfortable for a couple on their own, which is why we have tried to make it affordable for two, with a base rate without linen. Of course you may choose to have linen supplied for a fee of $25pp.
Extra guests are an additional $80pp which we accommodate by opening further bedrooms depending on how many guests are booked.

The living areas get plenty of all day sun which, along with the wood burner and heat pump, ensures you will be cosy & warm. We also have a drying room with laundry facilities, under tile heating and a dehumidifier to get those wet items dry so that you are ready to go again the next day.

For indoor entertainment we have a TV which has a Chromecast. You can use your phone/device and the wifi to cast to the screen. We also have a selection of board games, jigsaws and books for those stay inside days.

Guests have access to the entire house. The master bedroom has 180 degree views across the fields to Mt Ruapehu, with the added bonus of being able to hear the nearby Mangateitei Stream if you open the windows.
We open subsequent bedrooms for additional guests, up to a maximum of 6. All rooms have king size beds, panel heaters, electric blankets and a glimpse of the mountain through the beech trees.

The nearby stream at the bottom of the drive, along with the unprotected wood burner make our home unsuitable for young children.

For those who like to cook, like us, we have an induction hob, electric oven, microwave and fridge/freezer. Our kitchen is equiped with a range of small appliances including a sandwich press, slow cooker, bread maker, bialetti espresso coffee pots, toaster and all the usual pots, pans, bowls and baking trays.
A small range of basic spices & condiments are left for you to use if you so desire.

This is a classic timber chalet outfitted in simple uncluttered décor situated on its own site from which snippets of mountain views are available. Downstairs provides the living area with a carport to the roadside and a deck with table and chairs to the mountain side. Upstairs provides two bedrooms, the bathroom and laundry facilities. Perfectly located for walking to town or Apres Ski area.

The space
Willow Brook chalet has the warmth and cosiness that only timber interiors can provide. But if that's not enough for you there is a Studio fire which heats up the whole space quickly with a flue extending up through the main upstairs bedroom. Firewood is split and stacked under cover outside, and stacked inside next to the fire for your convenience.

The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, utensils, crockery and cutlery. There is a coffee plunger and a slow cooker.

Normal household rubbish can be disposed of in the provided brown paper bag. We at Willow Brook do not want extra plastic bags going to landfill. A compost bin is provided beneath the bench for emptying in the receptacle in the front garden. Please use this.

The television is wall mounted with instructions provided. A DVD is available as is a large selection of DVDs.

The main bedroom provides a double bed, ample cube storage and a suitcase shelf plus twin wardrobe racks. The flue from the fire extends through the corner of the room, meaning warmth up there on those snowy nights. Small mountain views are available from the bedroom. The twin bedroom provides two single beds, an open wardrobe with shelves and a shared bedside table and lamp. Delightful mountain views available, weather pending of course.

The bathroom provides the shower, porcelain sink and the toilet. There is a small window in the shower and mountain views are also available from here.

In the front garden at the roadside is a circular saw with the name of the property, Willow Brook. The back garden consists of interestingly placed rocks, metal paths, a meditation garden, grass garden and New Zealand native plants which feature white flowers. A generous timber deck extends from the original cedar deck off the back entrance to the back garden.

Guest access
Guests have the use of the entire site. Parking is available on site. You will notice the name of the property at the road front.

You may like to wander down to the lower garden which is accessed off the upper level between the existing shrubs. Take time to reflect in the meditation garden from which a mountain view is available.

The Turoa mountain access road is less than ten minutes drive away so if you’re here for the snow, you can be on the mountain enjoying your first run in no time!

For summer or walking stays, shuttles are available that will pick you up and drop off to the Tongariro Crossing and drop you back at the end of the day.

Inside, the spacious mezzanine bedroom is set up to sleep five with one double bed, one single and a set of single bunk beds, making it perfect for families or small groups.

Downstairs, a sofa bed can sleep a further two guests. However, this is a cosy space so we don’t recommend more than five people staying at any one time.

A portacot and mattress is also available in the mezzanine bedroom if required.

One tv and DVD player downstairs and one tv and DVD player upstairs. There is a collection of DVDs for adults and children and some books. Feel free to take a book with you, but please replace it with another one.

While we love hosting families, please be aware that this home may not be suitable for young children due to the stairs and mezzanine bedroom.

Downstairs, the kitchen includes an oven, fridge, microwave, coffee plunger, and all the essentials including basics such as oil, tea, coffee, salt and pepper etc.

The large bathroom is designed to include drying racks.

Out the back is a small, covered area which is great for those wet boots, bikes and snow gear.

There is a designated parking space marked where guests must park during busy times.

There is a large heat pump at the property that efficiently heats the house. If you would like to use the fireplace, bags of firewood can be purchased from the New World or gas station.

This bach is our happy place. Sat on 1/2 an acre it's an easy walk to central Ohakune's restaurants/bars/cafes and the supermarket.

After walking, snowboarding, skiing or mountain biking relax on the deck or in the spa with a view to Mount Ruapehu. When you are ready for more action go to the games room for darts, pool or foosball.

Both the bach and games room have heat pumps and TVs and of course there is wifi, plenty of parking, a drying room and heaps of wood for the fire.

The space
There is a huge back deck, with a BBQ and outdoor table and benches. A front deck connects the bach, games room, fire-wood shed and drying room.
One bedroom has a queen sized bed and the other has a bunk with a double underneath and single on top.
You will love the rural vibe, with so much space and yet so close to Ohakune central.
There is a beautiful bush walk to the village which also extends onto the carrot park.
Also easy access to the river walkway, the old coach road and of course the mountain.

Heating is by way of a real wood burner supplemented by oil and fan heaters if required.

PAY PER GUEST
Our pricing reflects the number of people in the group. Why pay for 8 guests when you are a group of 3 or 6? Our minimum guest price is for 2 people and that is what is reflected on the calendar when you book. After that a nominal $20 is added for each additional person.
Our pricing also reflects the season. Since Ohakune is traditionally a winter destination the pricing is slightly higher to take into account heating and added electricity costs. During summer however, we can drop our prices by not having the heating to worry about.
We believe this is a fair approach.

This Ohakune chalet is in great condition, featuring an open plan layout of the kitchen and living area allowing the place to heat up quickly with the wood burning fire. The dining table in the living area is a great focal point to tell stories about the day's adventures over dinner! Wifi, TV and Chromecast guarantees offers light relief in the evenings. There are plenty of board games, cards and activity sets for young and old, and best of all... the Shotski... you need to try this! A hot shower will also help after a hard day on the slopes!

The sleeping accommodation of this Ohakune home provides two bedrooms each with a queen bed, as well as a third room with a queen bed and single bed. There are electric blankets on all the beds, so you will be warm and toasty through the night!

Welcome to our Mountain House, located in the centre of Ohakune. Our home makes a great base for groups of up to 8, to enjoy mountain escapes!
Set over two levels house is open plan, with lounge dining area and kitchen on the first floor with a log burner and two heat pumps to keep you snug during those cool winter stays. On the ground floor there are 2 double rooms and a bunk room. The house has two bathrooms, with two showers & two toilets. North facing deck with great views of the mountain

The space
Set over two levels, Mountain House sleeps up to 8; featuring an open plan lounge dining area and kitchen on the first floor with a log burner and a heat pump. On the ground floor there are 2 double rooms with queen beds in each, a bunk room and a bathroom with shower toilet and vanity and the Laundry. The house has two bathrooms, one an ensuite with two showers & two toilets and separate Laundry. Log fire warms house brilliantly. Home is recently renovated and is double glazed. North facing deck with great views of the mountain. It’s a true home away from home.

We offer a very well equipped kitchen - so congregate with your friends while you cook up a storm. Electric stove, microwave and full fridge freezer and coffee machine, so bring those coffee beans.

Entertainment: Lounge has stereo, TV and huge selection of DVD’s and games. Heated by a log fire in the lounge, with additional heater down stairs. If table tennis is your thing then head down to the attached garage for a game! You might even want to take the sledges up the mountain for a a bit fun, please be carefull with them!

Dining table seats eight and is perfect for evening get togethers or to play cards one of the board games board games. In summer enjoy the deck soaking up the sun, lounging in the hammock, or just chill out with the BBQ on the deck, and enjoy the ambience of the evening sunset, while looking over the mountain.

1st bedroom has 1 x Queen bed with ensuite bathroom.
