The space
There’s nothing like a chalet to relax in after a long day’s hike, bike ride or hitting the slopes. It boasts of rustic wood wall and ceiling panelling, and at its centre is a fireplace comfortably stocked with firewood to enjoy warm winter evenings.

As you enter, the hall’s timber wall has pegs where you can hang your ski/hike gears.

The living area has a sofa and long built-in seating to enjoy the fireplace, the smart TV, and a healthy collection of DVDs and game boards. It has double glass doors that open to a deck with outdoor table and chairs. The dining area also has built-in seats for comfortable dining experience.

The kitchen has a fridge, oven toaster, microwave, bread toaster, and a kettle. There are a few other plug-in cookers in the cupboards, too. Coffee, tea and sugar is also provided for your convenience. The bathroom has a shower, basin and 2nd toilet. There is also a washing machine and dryer.

Bedroom 1 and 2 are on the upper floor with a queen beds, ample space for your wardrobe, bags and shoes, and Bedroom 1 has a skylight with a view of Mt Ruapehu. Bedroom 3 (bunk beds are suitable for kids only) is on the ground floor close to the bathroom.

Welcome to The Shack your quirky and comfy home in Ohakune. This ex Ministry of Works mobile site office has been transformed into a unique, cozy place to stay. It has stunning mountain views and heaps of space for the kids to run around. Dogs are welcome, the section is not fully fenced so keep an eye on your dog at all times. The Shack sleeps five in the bedroom area and has one bathroom. It offers the ideal set up for a group of friends or a young family on an adventure getaway.

The space
The Shack is located off street, in a peaceful private setting. There is a stream running near the rear of the house and you will have to cross a small bridge to get to the property.

The bedroom spaces are not separate. You have to walk through the first bedroom to enter the small bunk room. There are doors to separate the two areas.

While this chalet is pet friendly, it is NOT fully fenced. It is the GUESTS SOLE RESPONSIBILITY to keep pets under control at all times.

You will have access to the whole cabin, plus the mowed grassed area surrounding the cabin.

• Each chalet is equipped with cooking facilities, utensils and dishwashing products, however you will need to bring your own food which includes items like salt, pepper, tea and coffee.

Downstairs is a king bedroom with direct access to the deck and hot tub. Upstairs are the additional bedrooms both with shared balcony access - a king bedroom with a desk overlooking the forest & mountain views, and a second room with a queen bed and a set of bunk beds separated for privacy by a permanent dividing wall. The sunny little balcony off the bedrooms is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee and soak in the views. Beds are made up on your arrival and freshly laundered towels are provided.

Ski and bike storage is easy in the covered carport while the purpose built drying room make getting you gear ready for the next day easy.

Children love the log cabin (and arguing over who gets the top bunk). For their safety a stair gate and a fire guard is provided.

This property has the X-Factor! Gorgeous Log Cabin, quietly tucked away and surrounded by trees and fields, with a park next door and a river running by... a rural setting, yet only 600 meters to the middle of town, and complete with unlimited WIFI. Its a 3 minute drive, (20 minute walk along the Maungawhero River Walkway, 100 meters from your door), to "The Junction" apres-ski bars and restaurants
In Winter the fire will be going, the house warm and cosy for your arrival... relax and enjoy all the comforts of home in this fully furnished Cabin. The lounge and Main Bedroom both have TVs, SKY plus SKY MOVIES and SKY SPORTS! Unlimited WIFI too :)

The Satin-Jet shower gives you the most amazing adjustable shower and gas hot water heating means you can stay in there as long as you like... perfect after a day up the mountain, or hiking or biking the many tracks in the area

Bed Linen and Towels are provided. The Kitchen has Dishwasher, Fridge/Freezer, Oven, Microwave and small appliances, including coffee plunger and teapot

The upstairs loft does have safety railing but if you would prefer the kids on the same level, the downstairs L-shaped lounge has a mattress base and is made up with cosy wool rests and fitted sheets and thus can double as two single beds for the little ones, toe to toe! (approx six feet long each way from corner, see pics)

A very private, 600mm high fenced deck with access from the lounge/dining has a rural view across to Mt Ruapehu

Shutters on all the windows add to the security of a monitored burglar alarm and professionally installed fire alarms

The fire can be loaded up and turned down so it is going 24/7, you never need to reset or light, there's a drying area behind

A carport provides undercover access to the cabin

The log cabin construction holds the heat in the winter and keeps the cabin cool in the summer

You are also welcome to bring your well behaved dog on holiday with you to stay at the cottage, as long as they are house trained and well behaved and stay off the furniture, (including the beds), and if this isn't possible, if you can please bring clean sheets from home to cover the furniture, and beds, where they may be, and of course all poops need to be scooped.

My cleaner does charge an additional $25.00 for the clean after a dog has been staying which is added on to the standard cleaning fee, and IF there is evidence that your dog HAS been ON the furniture, to be fair to the next guests, she washes all the couch cushion covers etc too and this extra ($25.00) cleaning charge is also passed on to me and taken from your bond after your stay.
