That view though. Stay in the laidback, gorgeous beach town of Raglan in a classic Kiwi bach overlooking Cox's Bay.
Access to Cox's Bay is just a few houses down, making it perfect for a quick dip, a paddle-board or taking the kayak out. Great surf and swimming beaches a ten-minute drive. Walk to the village for a Raglan Roast coffee. Or just recline with a beverage and enjoy a glorious sunset from the front lawn.
Self-contained with all the amenities you need.
Let's get this straight: the cottage isn't fancy. It's old as heck but it has all the modern conveniences: a wood-burning fire, high-speed fibre broadband, great shower pressure, a dishwasher and well, that view. Imagine yourself sitting on the lawn in a comically oversized deck chair, a drink in hand while watching the sun illuminate the hills framing the bay as it rises, or cast pink fingers across the sky at sunset. With the call of a tui or ruru (morepork) keeping you company from a nearby harakeke (flax) bush or karaka tree.
Raglan has a unique hippie/surfer vibe, and it cared about sustainability before that became trendy. It's a modern town with great coffee and places to eat and drink, but retains an old school Kiwi feeling.
In the main cottage is a master bedroom with queen bed and a view to die for, plus a second room with two single beds. It has fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom with toilet, shower and washer + dryer.
The separate sleep-out has a queen bed, small bathroom with toilet and shower plus a kitchenette with sink and kettle.
Other things to note
- Kayaks and surfboards are readily available to hire in the town
- Great walks in the area, including Mt Karioi for the fit
- Some of our favourites include the summer season cider slushies at George's Beach Club, brunch at The Shack, coffee from Raglan Roast, a Kapiti scooped ice cream, the old-school charm of a pint at the Harbour View Hotel, and of course ALL the places to swim or surf.
Cox's Bay is tidal, and while totally fine for swimming, it's best for paddleboarding or kayaking an hour either side of high tide. For the best swimming beach in the area, head to Ngarunui.
We're usually around to answer any questions by message or phone. We're happy to help out!
Access to Cox's Bay is from the next street down, making it perfect to walk to for stand-up paddleboarding or kayaking in the harbour. Ngarunui Beach is an 11 minute drive where lifeguards patrol and it's great to swim or surf, or go to the next bays along, Manu Bay and Whale Bay, for fantastic surf breaks.
The boat ramp is 350 metres away, and the village is a 15 minute walk, where you'll find amazing Raglan Roast coffee, the best Kapiti NZ ice cream, and great places to eat and drink
- "Easy to book and to check in. The house is clean and tidy. It was at a convenient walking distance from raglan wharf. The outside table is perfect for breakfast. The kitchen was a bit small for cooking meals for 4 adults. Overall would revommend." - "Very cozy for a family of four, had a great veiw and a colourful house also great outdoor beanbags and had everythong we needed for a three day stay" - "Great historical little Bach nestled among beautiful vegetation. Private yet offering great views of the water. Had my wife’s sister and husband stay for two nights in the sleep out for an extra $100. We really enjoyed our week away."

Welcome to Moa Stone Estate!
We want you to feel right at home. Cook nourishing meals in your fully-equipped separate kitchen, take it easy with a fry-up on the BBQ, or simply pour a glass of bubbly and soak in the quartz stone bath, perfectly positioned in a private, covered corner of the deck. All the beautiful wooden details throughout the space, repurposed century-old rimu (a native tree), give the cabin a charming, rustic feel. When it’s time for sleep, close the blackout curtains, curl up into your orthopaedic, super king bed and wrap yourself in Egyptian cotton bedding. The flat-screen TV conveniently rotates to wherever you’re sitting. The en-suite bathroom with rain shower has fluffy towels, bathrobes, and amenities for your comfort. Both the cabin and the separate full kitchen have a fridge for your convenience. The view from your private deck won’t disappoint; on a clear day at dusk, Mount Karioi is framed by pink, orange and red, and a clear night shows spectacular stargazing. Add in the birdsong and cascading views of the flower farm, and you’ll have a pinch-yourself moment as you look out at your snapshot of colour. There are books, magazines and (board-) games for entertainment. Enjoy the charm of the countryside and the magic of flowers.
Total privacy, comfort and relaxation in a natural setting. Your destination is tucked away in the Raglan hills. We recommend you stock up on essentials before your arrival. Please be mindful that your Raglan getaway is five minutes down a gravel road. While it’s suitable for most cars, be prepared for your car to get a little dusty. You are encouraged to explore the flower & water gardens and to bring suitable footwear.
The creative community of Raglan is just a 20-minute car journey away. There’s excellent fish and chips, great coffee, and plenty of lovely restaurants. The shopping is plentiful for such a small town, too. Independent galleries are dotted about, and the walkable centre sells everything from designer clothing to pottery and surf essentials. A short drive brings you to the beautiful 55 meter high Waireinga/Bridal Veil Waterfalls and wild West Coast Ruapuke Beach.

Tatū

Has been built to cater for family/friends and guests, as a quiet escape from everyday life. We wanted to create a warm and minimalistic space that you can truly relax in, while also having the freedom to explore Raglan (Whāingaroa)
You are able to fully self cater, to create a unique cooking experience, our kitchen is under cover, while being “outside” between the lounge and bedroom areas, there’s an induction cooktop, cooking utensils, small fridge/freezer, toaster, jug & tea/coffee making facilities.
Our bathroom is warm and with the natural light through the clear light roofing, it makes for a neat “under the rain” wonderful hot shower. You’ll find this located behind the kitchen area, to keep it private from the bedroom and lounge.
Our bedroom is minimalistic, warm and comfortable, a king sized bed, cotton sheets, linen duvet, quality pillows. There’s a space for your bags and to hang your clothes. We also enjoy providing up to date magazines and leave a few good books here and there for guests to enjoy.
Our lounge space, which opens out onto the deck, is a sun trap, where you’ll find games, a stereo, incredibly comfortable daybeds and large beanbags to lounge on, or you’re welcome to lay them all on the floor for that afternoon lay in the sun.
Our decks provide a space to eat, enjoy that glass of wine or purely just relax and take in views of the harbour and Te Akau in the distance.
We really hope you enjoy our special space and feel right at home :)

Whare Tatū is completely private and seperate from our main house, you are able to enjoy the whole whare to yourselves :)
Other things to note
A gentle reminder that Whare Tatū is a non-smoking whare at all times. We encourage recycling, there are extra bins out the rear of the whare, for glass/cardboard etc, please also note that while our kitchen is outside, it is mostly protected from the elements, if I’m aware of incredibly bad weather, I will contact you to offer an alternative date for your stay :)
Our Whare is near the main road to incredible surf spots and beach, you will hear road noise, but please be aware that this is not 24/7, the peak times for this are early mornings and sunset hours in Summer, as the sunset up at Ngārunui is undoubtedly one of the best I have ever seen!
"creepy crawlies" Yes! we live rural, so from time to time, you will see spiders and their webs, the odd cockroach/ant & even a good ole' fly, but I can assure you, we have done everything humanly possible, to keep these at an absolute minimum :)
