Check in at the bar was quick, room was nicely renovated, it could have been the time of year but it was VERY quiet in the upstairs area, I felt like I was the only one staying there. There was a bountiful, delicious breakfast the next morning, a full Irish breakfast and I had a lovely chat with the barkeep....he had been working there for 50 years...amazing! The only tiny criticism I had was that I couldn't get any hot water in the shower, could have been I didn't wait long enough or just old pipes, but a hot shower would have been nice. The house contained a library of Irish authors and travels which were handy to have. Our nephew really appreciated the available toys and kids books. The grounds were spectacular! Beautiful gardens were all around the house. The barn ruins were a delightful historic element. However, it was the view of the Irish Sea and beach access that really solidified this as an exciting location. The walk down to the beach was a little difficult for the older family members but well worth it. Be sure to follow the suggested landmarks to get to the property. The last left turn (unfinished gate) might be better described as a sharp left before the concrete block posts. Our seven-person extended family had a wonderful time at this property as a home base for our Ireland adventure."

The property is adjoining the hosts main residence with its own private front door access with parking for 2 cars at the front of the property, Daisy’s Rest is a large comfy, homely, up to date cottage with charm great charm, one double bed bedroom and a double sofa bed in the living room. Nestled in the foothill’s of Redcross with farmland surrounding and beautiful walk’s.

Guest access
The property is accessed through shared gates with private parking for 2 cars in front of the property. Guests can access a large south facing private garden with chickens and ducks roaming freely, with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Hosts will greet on arrival and are at the end of the phone to assist with directions.

Other things to note
Watch out for the wonderful Red Kite’s (beautiful bird) only re introduced to Wicklow recently overhead, the sheep, horse’s, cow’s and at night the star’s above and in particular the archer constellation which are all so clear to see as the city light’s aren’t interfering with the night vision. Close to Brittas Bay beach and the National Botanic gardens.

Bright, spacious, modern house located in a quiet, family oriented neighbourhood in the picturesque village of Avoca, County Wicklow! Quiet, peaceful, overlooking a field with a 300 year old oak tree and just a short walk to the local pub and the Church on Sunday.

On the ground floor, our house has a great kitchen with a large island and lots of household items you might need for your stay. The Living room has doors to make it quiet and private for watching TV or reading a book on the reclining leather couches. There are even USB chargers at the side ends of the couches. We have a beautiful sunroom overlooking the interlocking patio and garden/backyard with 2 big couches to relax on. The patio is equipped with a wrought iron patio table and chairs. The ground floor also has a utility room at the back of the house which includes the half bathroom and the laundry facilities. There are 5 bedrooms. Four of the bedrooms are on the second floor with 2 ensuite bathrooms and one main bathroom. There is one bedroom on the third floor with an ensuite bathroom and skylights.

Avoca is a great place to explore Wicklow County and Dublin County from. So many day trips within 1-2 hours. Glendalough Monastic Site, Powerscourt Estate and Gardens, Newgrange World Heritage site, The Wicklow Gaol, and many Wicklow Way Mountain walks. There are many estate homes to visit; Avondale House & Treetop Walk, Killruddery House, and Kilmacurragh National Botanic Garden. Like to Golf? There is also great Golfing at Mecreddin Village Golf, The European Club, Woodenbridge Golf Club, and so much more; an Aquarium, horseback riding, and alpacas, just to name a few. Brittas Bay Beach is 15-20 minutes away! AND don't forget the Famous Avoca Handweaver's and Gift Shop. It's the OG.
