Mariners cottage has become a well known home on the island dating back to the early 1920's. The cottage attracts several visitors and pedestrians walking by. The Cottage is one of the few on the island that will still take you back to its heritage though without depriving you of the luxuries of today. This 2nd story cottage is totally private with its own entrance and 1 covered parking space. There is one large bonus/bedroom with two queen beds adjacent to a full bath. The Bedroom overlooks the cottage courtyard. The space also offers a main living room equipped with an electric fireplace. A fully functioning kitchen with new appliances adjoins the living room. The home is fully stocked to include: dining and cookware, linens pillows and blankets, towels, iron, etc. There is an onsite washing machine and dryer free of charge. Enjoy an inviting outdoor patio with dining furniture for 4. Bicycles, water toys, and all the excursions you can imagine are available within walking distance!

The lower unit with accommodations for 4 additional guests is also available upon request if you have a larger party and would like to have both. Balboa Island is an absolute jewel in the middle of Newport Bay. There is a 1.6 mile walkway around the perimeter and a charming 2 block main street with unique shops and fine and casual dining, literally around the corner! My cottage is very inviting. Features a courtyard with outdoor fireplace. It is one bedroom with two bathrooms and a separate sleeping area off of the living room. Perfect for two or a small family. It is possible to sleep one additional person on the twin bed size couch. Centrally located between Los Angeles and San Diego. Great for day trips.

The neighborhood is very relaxed. This is a popular destination so there is a fair amount of activity which makes the courtyard a welcome retreat. My home is one street away from the main street. It is so very quaint! There is a big mixture of old beach houses and new upscale construction. It is a wealthy area with down-to-earth residents.

We do not book stays of less than five nights more than 15 days in advance. We are currently booking through August 2025. Minimum stay requirement: two nights.

This one bedroom, one bath apartment is approximately 550 square feet in size and features a second "mini-room" with a built-in twin bed (167" long x 37" wide with built-in twin bed). Wonderfully light and open, it is located just five homes in from South Bayfront and Newport Harbor, and just one block to the island's shops and restaurants. Sophisticated but cozy décor with slip-covered sofa and chairs, natural wood pieces and pretty artwork. Located behind the main house, it has no common, living-space walls with the front house. Upgrades include: beautiful Caeserstone countertops in kitchen and bathroom; all new bathroom with white-tiled shower; outdoor deck with patio furniture and umbrella; private washer and dryer; one queen bed, one twin bed; den with open beamed ceiling. Full kitchen with dishwasher, newer gas range, refrigerator, all small appliances and cookware. This beautifully furnished and renovated 2-bedroom, 2-bath, back-unit home is located on Balboa Island just 1 block from the beach and the Balboa Island Ferry. A rare find on the Island, it offers vaulted ceilings, air conditioning, inside laundry, an outdoor patio, carport parking. The home was completely remodeled in February of 2020 with all new Subzero / Wolf appliances. New three quarter inch white Oak floors, Cosentino Quartz kitchen and bathroom counters. The home was perfect, very very clean and updated and plenty of room for our family of 4. The location is great, with the car ferry just a block or so down from the place and plenty of space to park our rental car. We also rented a golf cart which is just a block away from the house and it was a great decision, getting around on the island and peninsula was so much easier with the golf cart. Located two blocks from Marine Avenue (Main Street) on Balboa Island, this older cottage is steps to all of the restaurants and short walk to the bay of the famous Balboa Island Ferry. The rear unit has a closed patio that provides a spacious outdoor mix of seating. The gated patio has two Adirondack chairs for relaxing! There is also a patio table and umbrella that seats up to six people. The patio is connected to the cottage through the classic dutch doors as it blends into the living, dining and kitchen areas. The living room, kitchen, and bathroom are located on the first floor and the bedrooms are located on the upper floor.

The living room and outdoor patio are separated by a classic dutch door that can fully open or just opened at the top that the entire family can use to enjoy the cool ocean breezes. The living room has a medium flatscreen TV so you can keep up with the game or the news. Just a few steps from the main living area, the kitchen serves as a central meeting point - which is fully stocked with cooking/dining gear and basic appliances. You can choose to cook your meal on the outdoor charcoal grill or in the kitchen!

As you continue through the house, there are private laundry facilities are conveniently located in the hallway that leads to the stairs to the bedrooms. The master bedroom has a Queen bed and TV.

The second bedroom is for the kids! It has a twin bed and a twin bunk bed. A closet with space for clothes. The hallway bathroom has a shower/tub combo.

To fulfill the sleeping arrangements for 6 total guests, please consider that the pullout living room sofa is a full size bed, best suited for 2 children or 1 adult.

PARKING: The parking for the rear unit is inside the gate. All guests are guaranteed a parking space. We do not recommend extremely large vehicles at this location. General neighborhood street parking (metered or unmetered) also in area. During the month of June 2025, we expect the parking situation to be affected by some city utility work.

If you are interested in the Laguna Beach PAGEANT OF MASTERS during July, this is a fantastic place to stay. Lyft or Uber is the easiest way to get to the event. You can enjoy a nice glass of wine on the balcony before your ride picks you up and takes you to Laguna Beach.

Additional local attractions include Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Whale Watching (included in the FREE FUN package), Aquarium of the Pacific, South Coast Plaza, and Fashion Island.

But a trip to Balboa Island wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Balboa Fun Zone or the Peninsula, where the Ferris wheel has stood for more than 80 years, and the world famous Balboa Island Ferry. The Ferry is about 10 minute walk from the cottage.

Located on the corner of Park and Amethyst, two blocks from Marine Avenue (Main Street) on Balboa Island. This cottage is steps to all of the restaurants and short walk to the bay of the famous Balboa Island Ferry. Probably the most visible feature of the front unit is the patio that provides a spacious outdoor mix of seating. The front patio is surrounded by a classic white picket fence and has two Adirondack chairs for relaxing! There is also a patio table and umbrella that seats up to six people. The patio feature a gas BBQ grill to cook up a summer feast! The patio is connected to the cottage through the classic dutch doors as it blends into the living, dining and kitchen areas. The living room, kitchen, and bathroom are located on the first floor and the bedrooms are located on the upper floor.

The living room and outdoor patio are separated by a classic dutch door that can fully open or just opened at the top that the entire family can use to enjoy the cool ocean breezes. The living room has a medium flatscreen TV so you can keep up with the game or the news. Just a few steps from the main living area, the kitchen serves as a central meeting point - which is fully stocked with cooking/dining gear and basic appliances. You can choose to cook your meal on the outdoor charcoal grill or in the kitchen!



As you continue through the house, there are private laundry facilities are conveniently located in the hallway that leads to the stairs to the bedrooms on the second floor. The master bedroom has a Queen bed and TV.



The second bedroom is for the kids! It has a twin bed and a twin bunk bed. A closet with space for clothes. The hallway bathroom has a shower/tub combo.



To fulfill the sleeping arrangements for 6 total guests, please consider that the pullout living room sofa is a full size bed, best suited for 2 children or 1 adult.



Both televisions are Smart TVs and you can connect to your favorite streaming apps.



PARKING: The parking for the front unit is on the outside of the gate at the rear alley. All guests are guaranteed a parking space. We do not recommend extremely large vehicles at this location. You may have to move your vehicle on Wednesdays to allow access for the trash trucks. General neighborhood street parking is available in the area.

Pets (primarily dogs) are welcome and there is a pet fee of $100 per pet. We allow a maximum of two pets.

If you want to visit the DISNEYLAND, we located just under 20 miles to DISNEYLAND and DISNEY'S CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE. After a great day at the parks, you can return back to your villa, refresh, relax, and take a stroll down to the beach.



If you are interested in the Laguna Beach PAGEANT OF MASTERS during July, this is a fantastic place to stay. Lyft or Uber is the easiest way to get to the event. You can enjoy a nice glass of wine on the balcony before your ride picks you up and takes you to Laguna Beach.



Additional local attractions include Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Whale Watching, Aquarium of the Pacific, South Coast Plaza, and Fashion Island.



A trip to Balboa Island is not complete without a visit to the Balboa Fun Zone or the Peninsula, where the Ferris wheel has stood for more than 80 years. The best way to get is the world famous Balboa Island Ferry.



This cottage can also be rented in conjunction with the rear unit for larger families.



We do allow dogs and there is a $100 pet fee that will be charged.

Super cute apartment above the garage of the Blue Door Cottage. WINTER SPECIAL Rent Friday & Saturday and stay 1 extra night free (Sunday or Thursday) except for Boat parade, Christmas or New Years eve week. This bright and airy unit has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, a kitchen, and a really large living area with both a sofa and a love seat with lots of windows. There is a small dining table for two, a coffee bar and an outdoor area with a bistro table to enjoy your morning coffee, or a glass of wine with the sunset. The patio also has a chair and ottoman so you can recline and read a good book while getting some afternoon sun or roll the shade down for privacy. The unit is a few steps away from the bayfront and the boardwalk and a 2 minute walk to Marine Ave, the shops, restaurants, Irvine market and a Balboa Bar / Chocolate covered banana at Dad's or the Sweet Life.

Access to the unit is through the alley and parking is on the street. The garage is for the use of the Blue Door Cottage but there is plenty of parking on Park Ave, Abalone or Crystal Ave for the apartment.
