Even if you're not a horse lover, Lyra will tell you what you need to know to feel comfortable around the horses - to be safe and to keep them safe. The house is very comfortable. Porches to sit and relax. Quiet. Breakfast was very good - a great start to the day. We adjusted our schedule so that we could visit with the horses before breakfast and before settling in for the night. How could we not love them - the seniors, the 2-day old, the yearlings? As far as the location, we were very satisfied. The beautiful road to Paris was only a few miles. From there, the attractions of Lexington were about 30 minutes away. The Ark Encounter was about an hour away, but we enjoyed sightseeing the whole way. Paris was also a nice town. When we get back to Kentucky, Rosecrest Farm will be our first destination."

- "We really enjoyed the Barn! Gwen was an amazing host, very responsive. Kitchen had everything (seasonings, evoo, pots, pans, foil) to grill the 2 nights we did and there was enough firewood-we used the pit all 3 nights (s’mores too!). The Barn has great views and we stargazed (brought telescope and used apps to identify constellations, spotted Saturn and shooting stars. We had a full moon, and on last night it was all orange) And, the cows…there is a pasture with these adorable black cows that would appear now and then. Not sure if they were milking cows or what but on our last 2 days, we saw babies! At least 3 lying close to the fence or walking near mamas. Just another little treat. I chose The Barn for a remote farm experience and the great reviews for our fam of 4 (two 21+ sons) on a bourbontour. Cynthiana was further out, but I’m glad we rented because the time spent w/ family in this peaceful, pastoral setting each night was something we all really needed. Itinerary? Day1Angel’s Envy then lunch B4 getting to the Barn, immediately at firepit w/ cocktails, s’mores&tunes. Day2:Woodford,Buffalo, Prodigy winery (eh, nearby pasture was cool– pet & befriended horses) then back to our peaceful retreat. Day3:Claiborne Farm, Lex’s Distillery Dist. (Elkhorn &Pepper dist.), lunch at Lex Native Garden Café (love the Zen), grocery run, back to Barn.Day4 back 2 STL-Heaven Hill tasting then Exchange Pub New Albany. Just out the front door there are restaurants, antique shops, and tours of the horse farms nearby.

- "This little apartment is one of the best places I’ve stayed. It was tastefully and artistically decorated, including local art and antiques. I had the sense of where I was in KY and yet still felt completely at home. The morning light was spectacular on those gorgeous hard wood floors. The bed was comfy and tons of pillows and throw blankets made it even more cozy. The air conditioning worked great which was surprising to me for an old building. The only thing to be aware of, which is no one’s fault and to be expected, is that this apartment is right on Main St so you do hear some street noise. This wasn’t disruptive to anything though. We really loved staying here and would recommend this place to anyone."

- "Kathy was excellent in communicating and answering my questions. The room was clean, updated, and cozy. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 for location was the minor road noise. It's on a main throughway in Paris, so that is expected. Kathy provided a white noise machine, so that helped! There is construction going on in Paris (has been this way for years), so I anticipated that and accept that it's the way to better roads in the future. So if you are ok with a delightful place in downtown Paris, this is for you! If you are looking for a quiet farm setting, this is not. But staying in Paris is my preference when I visit Kentucky, and I hope to always be able to reserve a room at Art on High when I visit horse country!"

The space
The cabin at Denali Stud features a luxurious and cozy setting with open living space that includes a full kitchen, dining space and living room on custom wood floors, plus two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. We hope you don't need to bring work with you, but in the event that you do we have an office and great wifi. If you're staying with us during cooler months, there is a wood-burning fireplace with wood provided.
Guest access
Guests will be able to access the full space of the cabin and will have their own private parking directly next to the cabin. A host will greet guests upon arrival and will give a brief overview about accessing the farm, as well as a quick tour of the cabin so that guests know where to find everything.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a working horse farm and you will not be permitted to interact with any of the horses unless you are with a host for your safety and for the horse's safety.

Farm tours are available upon request. Guests will learn about the history of the farm, famous horses that have been through our program, as well as experiencing a walk around the farm and interacting with horses.

This is a remote custom-built cabin by me the owner on our 5 acre pond. Expect to see all kinds of wildlife.

Only 10 minutes from Mount Sterling, or 15 minutes to Winchester. Maybe 40 minutes to Lexington.

We have a short list of house rules posted in the cabin. Please let us know when you check out so that we can start cleaning. It takes us at least 3 hours between guests not counting laundry . We wash all bed linens every time . Pets are allowed but there is a $15 per day charge. Airbnb will send you an email for this charge separate from the basic rental.

Overview:

Welcome to our rental! Cleanliness and your comfort is our first priority. You will find Hickory Ridge cabin sparkling clean and tastefully furnished to provide a relaxing stay. We have a kitchen furnished for basic cooking and baking, a dining room, and a cozy living room with lots of natural light. There is a full bathroom, and a full bath/laundry room combination on the main floor. Upstairs, there is a bedroom with a full sized bed, and an open loft area with a futon that coverts into a bed. On the main level are two bedrooms. One has a queen sized bed and the other has a set of twin over full bunk beds. There are two futons in the living room that provide extra sleeping options, as well. Outside you'll find an expansive porch for your unwinding needs and a fire pit for s'mores on summer evenings.

You will be one block away from downtown Cynthiana and its events. You will have your own Starlink Internet service, with an AT&T fiber-optic back-up. Ice-maker in lobby. Towels and linens included. It is on the third floor, so be prepared for some steps. 30 minutes to Lexington and Georgetown and about one hour to Cincinnati. Off-street parking. Fire extinguisher, fire hose, CO detector and smoke detector in the unit and hallway. Security camera in the lobby shared with the law office. This building is on the National Register of Historic Places under "Wesley Roberts houses."

- "Great room with unique and various features. Dan was over communicative which I enjoyed. The area had some localized flooding so pre-communication was appreciated! It was a quick stay, but we walked to downtown for all the local stores and lunch. Definitely walking friendly. Since this unit is on the 3rd floor with steep stairs, I recommend only bringing a small bag into the room. Other than that, being next to a church you’ll hear the 15 minute and 2 minute warnings for gatherings. More of a heads up for mornings. Overall, I wish we had stayed another night! "

- "This was a very large farmhouse, that accommodated our group very well. Lots of beds, and large kitchen area made cooking and dining very easy for a large group! Plus, we were so far out in the country, the kids could make all the noise they wanted! Mark, our host, was on sight to check us in and explained where everything was located. Plus, he provided a list in the kitchen area, of local emergency contact phone numbers, that was very helpful. Having two kitchens / refrigerators was nice, for a large group. We would definately consider staying here again."
