Welcome to Moondance Cabin, your new favorite cabin located just outside the Red River Gorge in Daniel Boone National Forest. This cabin was just built in 2021 and includes all the modern amenities of home, with a beautiful view included. This cabin features an open and bright kitchen and living room, with vaulted ceiling and large windows showing off the expansive valley. The living room also has a gas fireplace, cozy couch and love seat and plenty of additional seating. There are 2 bedrooms, one offers a king-size bed, and the other bedroom includes a queen-size bed, and a bunk bed with two queen sized beds.
This layout offers privacy for couples and plenty of space for families. You will never get bored when you are staying at Moondance cabin! This cabin offers cornhole, horseshoes, and a fire pit for smores. For rainy days, there are plenty of board games, puzzles, cards, and all the streaming services you can watch.
The back deck area is completely covered and has an outdoor dining area with seating for 6. The hot tub overlooks the valley and offers a wonderful view of the valley. The screened-in porch is the perfect place to relax and read or enjoy your morning coffee. Bring your favorite steak to grill on the outdoor charcoal grill and enjoy dinner al fresco on the lower deck while watching an exciting cornhole match.

- "My husband and I had an amazing stay, to celebrate our 20 yr wedding anniversary. The cottage was perfect, clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated, and that outdoor space was amazing. It was private, the hot tub was perfect, the table for 2 made for some wonderful meals, and conversation, an amazing view, we saw woodpeckers, a momma turkey and her sweet babies, squirls, the sounds of birds chirping our favorite was the whip-poor-will, a nice gas grill, a fire pit, and an amazing sunset view. The outdoor lighting was romantic and had the right amount of ambiance. Our host Debbie thought of everything, and more. Highlights compared to other rentals. Stocked with, paper towels, toilet paper, laundry soap, aluminum foil, dish soap, hand soap, quart size baggies, nice dishes and pots and pans, silverware, and utensils. The bedding was clean, and comfortable. I love luxurious white linens, they felt and smelled clean without having the over smell of bleach. The bathroom was stocked with an ample amount of luxurious white bath towels, hand towels and wash clothes. The cottage was open and airy, lots of windows, not cramped, not overly decorated, just perfect! This cottage and host was our #1 stay from vbro, and we have been renting vbro for 5+years! We had the best of both worlds, a luxurious cottage, and outdoor space We enjoyed fishing at multiple ramps, and fishing spots on cave run lake. We went kayaking up and down red river. He hiked to the suspension bridge, and jump rock. We visited the Gladie visitor center, the staff there were so nice. They gave us a map that helped us find where we wanted to hike, and points of interest we wanted to see. The map also gives you all the rules and regulations, this was very helpful for us, we are from Indiana, and rules differ from state to state. Cave run lake was a short 10 min drive. The gladie visitor center was a little over an hour drive with multiple road side stops, and points of interests. We packed a cooler, with drinks, snacks, and lunch for a full day of hiking and sight seeing. I suggest packing your own toilet paper and antibacterial wipes, all restrooms except visitor center are pit toilets. We hiked Tower Rock, The Sky Bridge, Whistling Arch, Angels Windows, Rock Bridge Arch, and Creation Falls. Our 2 favorite places were Broke Leg Falls, and a pull off waterfall about a half a mile from the visitors center. ❤️Simply an Amazing Stay❤"

Paved road leading all the way to cabin. The view from the hot tub is absolutely beautiful and it is an unobstructed view of trees and the valley. The hot tub sits on a covered 500 square foot deck that is enclosed with a railing, privacy curtains and pet friendly gate.

Very scenic area. Guests love this quiet escape where they can get away from it all. Close to the cabin are long beautiful roads for walks and a marked old logging trail that is called Laurel Rock Trail. The cabin is 30-45 minutes from different attractions and areas in Red River Gorge, Natural Bridge and Cave Run Lake. Devil's Market House Arch trail is 15-minutes away. Many of the most familiar trails and hikes are about 40-minutes away. There are several great trailheads about 25-minutes away on the road leading to the famous Nada Tunnel. Most trailheads allow limited parking on the side of the road. Some have dedicated parking lots.

Another popular trail is Broke Leg Falls in Wellington, KY. Guests often write about Gorge Underground, Zip lining, Natural Bridge Skylift, Out the Top ATV Adventures, Fishing and boating at Cave Run Lake. Favorite restaurants are Miguels Pizza, La Cabana Mexican, Redpointe BBQ, Staybridge, Red River Rockhouse, and the Daniel Boone Coffee Shop in Slade. There are cliffs at the edge of the property, so precaution must be used when exploring. There will be signs to alert you, but you may miss them if you are in between.

- "The perfect retreat for a large family to unplug and come together! My family had the pleasure of making this beautiful 50-acre farm our home for the Christmas holiday. It can be a challenge to find a place that feels like home and sleeps my entire immediate family (in-laws and kids included; 16 people) comfortably, but this cabin had everything we needed. Julie greeted us upon arrival and gave us a quick walk-thru of the property. She was very welcoming and kind! We enjoyed s’mores with the kids by the fire pit and conversations on the upper deck on the swings. The kids enjoyed board games and dancing in the Great room. The kitchen was fully equipped for all of our culinary needs; waffle maker, griddle, mixers and more, so meal-making was a breeze. The beds were very comfortable and extra linen/towels were in abundance. I highly recommend this property if you are looking for peace of mind and relaxation."

- "How can you go wrong when directions say just past the yak farm! House was very clean and set up well, we were very comfortable. Area is quite peaceful, but we were only 8 minutes from Broke Leg Falls and 45 minutes from Red River Gorge.Lots to do in the area, not a whole lot of restaurants so plan on dinner at home. The directions are spot on, I think you might be on 460 40 miles or so- you are on the right track, once you see Wellington you are almost there. Hosts are quick to answer any questions. Definitely you recommend!"

- "My wife and I travelled with 6 children, ages 4-18. We were there to hike RRG trails and get away for a few days. The cabin was really great. Clean, newly remodeled and was absolutely perfect for us. We were not cramped or crowded, the beds were comfortable, kitchen layout was done well. We would love to come back and visit again. One issue - which the host addresses in communication, is that GPS does not lead you to the correct location, and the road signs are not great. We found it after searching for a bit, but had we come at night, we’d have had to call for help. If using google, mine currently says “Lawson rd”, but if you click on the house number it changes the road to what the host says it should be. Very weird. Anyway - not the hosts fault, and we loved our experience there. Thanks for a great stay."

Carve run dam, Minor Clark Hatchery, Broke Leg Falls, Twin Knobs beach, and plenty of trails! Morehead is 30 minutes away where you can hang out at their microbrewery, stop at Root-a-bakers for the best baked goods, and have dinner before heading back to the cabin.

Please remember this is a cabin, surrounded by woods, in rural KY Appalachia. It is possible to encounter bugs, snakes, bears, other wildlife & outdoor dogs barking. Spiders may be occasionally inside the cabin but we do our best to keep it treated & very clean from cobwebs. * It is a one lane road, about .5 miles to get back to the cabin.*

Tall Stüga or "Pine Cabin" is our incredibly modern Scandinavian-themed cabin! You're located on the Sheltowee Trace, just minutes from Cave Run Lake and only 25 miles from Red River Gorge making it the perfect place to escape and wake up amongst trees or spend a weekend w/friends!

There is public access to hiking trails, boat docks, horse camps, local golf course, parks & more. Plus, you'll be close to numerous quaint little towns, state forests, antique stores & local markets.

The Space:
This cabin is located in the heart of Eastern KY! While this home is only 600 square feet, its minimal, open and airy layout can accommodate up to 6 people. It’s a cozy fit, but we make it work perfectly.

The home is furnished with one king-sized bed in the upstairs loft, one queen-sized bed in the downstairs bedroom, and one queen-sized Article sleeper sofa. (We’ll leave it up to you to decide who is sleeping where—ha!) Plus, there is a playpen included should you bring the kiddos.

Keep in mind, that if heights or climbing ladders aren’t your thing, this cabin may not be for you.

Inside the kitchen, you’ll enjoy large window views while making your morning coffee along with all the pots, pans and plates you need to pretend like you’re going to cook yourself dinner from scratch!

The living room is furnished with a nice flat-screen TV where you can Netflix and chill with friends. And hey, if you aren’t into TV, we’ve got some board games you all can play, too!

In terms of amenities, we’ve got you covered too! You’ll have access to small, yet important things like: A blow dryer, towels, hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and more. Should you need to do laundry, there is a washer/dryer conveniently in the home.

Looking to work from home? Our cabin offers speedy internet, killer window views and plenty of space to stretch out when needed.

That's just for the inside deets! As far as the outdoors, we have built two large decks perfect for soaking in all the fresh air. You'll be able to enjoy our pellet grill, hot tub and firepit along with access to cornhole and axe throwing off deck!

As we mentioned earlier, this cabin is so perfect, you’ll want to stay forever.

Guest Access:
You’ll have access to the entire home. This will include a parking lot (large enough to park your boat or horse trailer), front porch, back patio, private pergola w/hot tub, fire pit, pellet grill, corn hole and axe throwing!

The Neighborhood:
While you'll be sharing our 40-acre property with guests at other surrounding sites, rest assured you'll still enjoy the peacefulness and seclusion of our location. With plenty of wildlife in the area and thoughtful spacing between cabins, you can relax and immerse yourself in nature's tranquility.

Other Things to Note:
In an effort to maintain a secure premises, the cabin is equipped with two exterior cameras. The cameras are ONLY on the exterior. There are no cameras on the inside or hot tub deck. We also warn our guests of dangerous snakes and wildlife in the area and to take precautions when enjoying outdoor amenities. Also would like to warn of insects which can be easily brought in on clothing and other items left outside to dry. Keep in mind that this cabin is in rural area so a variety of insects and wildlife are to be expected.

There are a couple cabins close but it was very quiet and peaceful. The hot tub was enjoyed by my family. The cabin was decorated nice. The kitchen was well equipped to handle all the meals we prepared. The outside charcoal grill was sturdy and clean. Bring your own firewood and charcoal. Had visits from friendly neighborhood cats. Overall the Cabin was fantastic. Very clean. The only couple things that needed addressed were very minor things. The bathroom door knob and the back door knob are a little hard to open and turn. And the towel rack in the bathroom was loose and fell a few times. Other than those very minor things the Cabin and stay were great! We will be coming back soon and would highly recommend this property, cabin and host to anyone! "
