A cosy recently renovated cottage with a beautiful garden. Nestled within the picturesque village of Gullane, near Edinburgh, surrounded by world acclaimed golf courses, incl Muirfield, and a few minutes walk from one of the best beaches in Scotland.It is a cosy holiday cottage, used and loved by the family, which we would like to share when we're not able to be there ourselves.
Our bright, peaceful, recently renovated cottage has one king size bedroom and one twin bedded room, a fully equipped modern kitchen / diner, relaxing sitting room and shower room. Outside there are mature private south and west facing gardens, offering a real sun-trap and a peaceful place to relax, unwind and switch off.
We live on the south side of Edinburgh, so not too far away. We don't want to intrude on your days in the cottage, but during school hours, can meet you upon arrival if you prefer. Alternatively, a key can be left for collection locally. Wireless internet and basic cable TV is included witha large flatscreen tv.
Gullane is an attractive village with amenities far outweighing it's size. It has numerous hotels, restaurants (including Michelin starred restaurants)and cafés, as well as independent shops, hairdressers, beauty salons and a fabulous fish and chip shop. Despite all of this, it is a tranquil and relaxing escape offering peace away from the crowds, yet is still only about 20 miles south of Edinburgh ( 30-40 minutes drive). It sits on the stunning East Lothian coast, surrounded by world class golf courses including Muirfield, Gullane, Archerfield and Luffness whilst North Berwick and numerous other courses lie within a short drive. The area is rich in wildlife, particularly bird life with Aberlady Bay Nature reserve within walking distance of the cottage and the National Seabird Centre at North Berwick a short drive away. The beach at Gullane is stunning and sandy, with some rocky outcrops, so there's plenty of potential for swimming, paddling and rock-pooling for all of the family. Gullane's neighbouring beach, Yellowcraigs, offers a beautiful walk along the coast from Gullane looking out across the Forth to the volcanic Island of Fidra and it's lighthouse, a favourite of Robert Louis Stevenson ( reputedly the island's shape is what he based his map for Treasure Island upon ). Today it is a haven for birds, protected as an RSPB reserve, as is its neighbour Bass Rock, further south. Further inland are fantastic walks by Lammer Law and Hopes Reservoir and through the Lammermuirs hills, offering fine views across the area.
Local attractions include: Glenkinchie Distillery - Scotland's only low land distillery; Boat trips to Bass Rock; Dirleton Castle; Tantallon Castle; Lennoxlove House; Museum of Flight, Myreton Motor Museum to name but a few.
Edinburgh is close by, accessible by train from Drem ( approx 3 miles away), North Berwick (approx 5 miles away), by bus or car. Edinburgh is an amazing historic city with its powerful castle forming the main focus along the skyline. It offers a huge variety of cultural opportunities ( eg. Film, Fringe and Edinburgh Festival, Hogmanay, the Military etc.....) as well as tourist attractions such as Britania, The Edinburgh Dungeons, The Royal Botanic Garden, or just wandering the streets of the old and new towns. Shopping here is also great with lots of independents along George Street and Harvey Nichols on St Andrews Square, or more local areas such as Stockbbridge and Bruntsfield offering a mix of coffee culture and boutique shopping. The train station in Edinburgh is very central, so an ideal arrival point for easily exploring the city, the Edinburgh Festival and all of the city's amenities.
Ideally a car is the best transport in and around Gullane, to enable access to all of the amenities and interests within the surrounding area. There are buses that run from central Edinburgh to Gullane and locally to North Berwick. Trains run on the main East Coast line from Edinburgh, stopping at North Berwick ( approx 5 miles away) and less frequently to Drem (3 miles away). Taxis are available for local pick up and local bus services are regular. Parking is available at both stations.

The dining area has a dining table and chairs to seat 6 and a sideboard storing cutlery, table mats and condiments. There are 3 leather sofas in the lounge area, with a large flat screen TV (Freeview digital channels) and DVD player. Wireless Broadband is included free of charge.

If both showers are being used at the same time one of them can run a little cold. The owner was on hand to try to rectify this but we ended up just alternating so only one shower was operating. Muirfield Green is a newly renovated 4 bedroomed house steps away from Muirfield golf course home to The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers.
Located at the end of a private road, the house offers spacious and luxurious accommodation for up to 8 guests.
The house is orientated round a central courtyard garden, where dining and cocktails can be enjoyed throughout the day in the sunshine.
The house is designed for entertaining, at the heart of it is the large light filled, fully equipped kitchen with a huge breakfast island, it has a walk-in larder with another fridge and freezer, double doors open onto a gravelled courtyard where breakfast and lunch can be enjoyed. The kitchen has every bit of equipment that you might need.
The dining room has a table that seats 8 guests comfortably and is just off the kitchen. Double folding doors open into the house's main reception room making this a great space to enjoy with your fellow guests.
The main reception room is hugely spacious and has double height ceilings plus floor to ceiling glass windows and doors with views into the garden. Here is where guests can enjoy the log burning stove in the cooler months or throw the doors open and have the garden courtyard a step away in the summer.
Off the hall is the games room again with access into the garden, this well thought out room has seating to enjoy the fire at one end with a TV above the fireplace, a pool table in the middle and at the other end the greatly appreciated house bar is located with an ice machine and undercounter fridge.
Off the games room through a small hall are the first of the two bedroom suites. The first has a walk-in wardrobe. A large sun filled room with views over the garden. It has a spacious bathroom with double sinks and a large shower.
Next door is Bedroom two with fitted wardrobes, it has views to the front and side of the house, the roomy bathroom has a free-standing bath and shower.
Off the main reception room are two more bedrooms and a TV room.
Bedroom 3 is a spacious room with fitted wardrobes and views over the courtyard garden.
The bathroom has a free-standing bath and large walk-in shower, with double sinks.
Between bedrooms 3 and 4 is the TV room, where you can enjoy a film nestled in either the huge bean bags, or lounge on the sofa. The cupboards here also house all the board games and card sets for your enjoyment.
Bedroom 4 - overlooks the gravel courtyard, tucked away, it again has fitted wardrobes, and a large walk-in shower room with double sinks.
All bedrooms have zip and link beds that can either be super king-size doubles or 2 single beds.
Our beautiful bed linens and cosy luxury woollen throws are from The White Company.
All wardrobes have hair dryers, ample amounts of hangers and are fitted with room safes for valuables.
The bathrooms are the height of luxury - with stone countertops and tiles, White Company towels, heated towel rails, bathrobes and Laura Thomas Co toiletries throughout.
In addition, we have a cloakroom off the hall and a separate powder room.
In the hall there is a cupboard that stores beach towels and picnic blankets for your use during your stay. Across the garden is a small yoga studio with mats and a blue tooth speaker.
Off the kitchen is the golf locker room, which has direct outside access to the parking area at the front of the house. Any golfer will appreciate this space, with golf bag storage, ample hanging space and a fast-drying system for wet clothes. A bench is also placed here to allow you to sit and put your golf shoes on before leaving for the course.
Our utility room houses both a commercial washing machine and tumble dryer. Ironing board and iron. Plus, any cleaning equipment that you might need during your stay.
In addition, we have a garden to the front of the house laid to gravel, here you will find the log store.
Car parking is also at the front of the house and there is enough space for 3 cars. Please do not park on the side of the road - this is a private road, however, access to the club for both deliveries and golfers is imperative. Note: There is a Good Housekeeping Bond of £1,000 that should be paid 2 weeks prior to your arrival.
The village of Gullane Is famous for its golf courses. Four in total within the parish. Gullane I, II, and III plus Luffness and of course Muirfield.
To the north of the village are the famous Gullane Bents and beach - a vast sandy bay - perfect for swimming and with endless walks in the dunes and over Gullane Hill.
The village offers great places to eat within walking distance of the house, two general stores, an ATM in the Coop, a pharmacy and coffee shops.
Less than 10 mins drive is the railway station in Drem, from here its 20 mins into the centre of Edinburgh.
North Berwick is less than 10 mins drive, a beautiful seaside town, with ancient harbour, boat trips, Scottish Seabird Centre plus again two great golf courses, The Glen and the famous North Berwick West.

The Space:
The apartment has been tastefully renovated by S1 developments, a prestigious local builder. The standards of the finishes in this apartment are both luxurious and tasteful. The apartment itself is located on the top floor, and benefits from high ceilings. The accommodation, arranged over one level, is accessed by a private staircase from the first floor communal entrance hall and comprises – welcoming entrance hall; open plan lounge/dining/kitchen. The kitchen is fitted with an excellent selection of units and there is ample room for dining and relaxing .

We have private parking in front of the building. There are busses locally but we would recommend hiring a car. The nearest train station would be Longniddry. We can recommend several very good taxi companies.

The Beeches is a very well presented three bedroomed detached home in a quiet cul de sac in the village of Gullane. Hopetoun Terrace is a charming, cottage-style ground floor, two-bedroom apartment located right in the heart of Gullane. Positioned just off the main street... the town's shops, restaurants and cafés are all practically on your doorstep. Gullane Beach is a short stroll away, and is nothing short of spectacular, with at least a mile and a half of soft, golden sand – ideal for that early morning dog walk! This lovely property sleeps up to 6 guests and benefits from a large private garden with mature trees and plants.

Greylag Cottage stands on the edge of Goose Green in the heart of Gullane just a short stroll to the play park and wide sandy beach and very close to the village shops, bars and restaurants.
All the accommodation is ground floor in this 3 bedroomed cottage which has a spacious sitting room with real fire, fitted kitchen and cloakroom as well as family sized shower room. Gullane`s three golf courses are all within walking distance and Muirfield is just up the road. Gullane is also home to Greywalls Hotel with Gertrude Jekyll designed walled garden and Chez Roux restaurant, and La Potiniere, another award winning restaurant on the village main street.
Window seats in the sitting room look out across Greylag`s large, pretty and often sunny walled garden. There is ample parking at the property, including a double garage where garden furniture is kept and which can be used for bike storage etc - the owner may consider taking a pet at an extra charge - please ask before booking by calling our office.

Goose Green Views is a delightful one bedroom apartment with lovely views towards Goose Green at the back and across the roof tops towards the Lammermuirs at the front.
It is a spacious flat with lots of windows giving a light and airy feel and has been newly decorated and furnished. It has natural slate flooring and also has double glazing and full gas central heating. Gullane is famous for both its long sandy beach and golf courses, being situation on Scotland's golf coast.
Gullane has some local shops plus bakery, two pubs and a couple of restaurants and coffee shops. Close by is North Berwick, a mecca for tourists with it's harbour, Scottish Seabird Centre and the nearby castles at Dirleton and Tantallon. A great bolthole for golfers or those who come to enjoy the beaches and countryside with the opportunity to also visit Edinburgh which is only 45 minutes by car.

You are required to pay a 20% deposit payment with a minimum payment of £150.00 or higher which secures the property, this payment is non refundable in the event of a cancellation. Then, 42 days prior to your arrival date the remaining balance will be payable.
A £200 refundable damage/security deposit is due 7 days before arrival, and refunded after departure.

The bright, spacious living room on the upper floor of the holiday home offers the perfect space to relax, with ample sofas and a large, Smart TV. Entertainment can also be found with an Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. The folding doors allow access to the roof terrace, where guests can enjoy the views across the three Gullane golf courses, soak up the sun or tuck into an al fresco BBQ or cook homemade pizza in the pizza oven while watching the golfers complete their round.

The open-plan kitchen and dining area provides all you need for your self-catering holiday, including a dishwasher, oven, fridge/freezer and microwave. Catch up on your East Lothian adventures at the breakfast bar or main dining table and enjoy home-cooked delicacies.

On the lower floor there are two double bedrooms for guests' use, all with access to the garden via French doors:
The spacious master bedroom features an en-suite shower room.
The second bedroom has a queen size bed with a feature purple wall and mirrored wardrobes.
The second bedroom is close to the family bathroom which features a bath and separate shower as well as a wash basin and W.C.
The third bedroom is on the upper floor and is en-suite with a king-size bed with a feature truffle brown wall and wall-mounted TV, plus ample wardrobe space.
Please note we do not provide hypoallergenic bedding in our properties. Please also note the 4th and 5th bedrooms shown on the floor plan are locked and used for private storage.
Garage
For fitness-loving guests there is gym equipment in the garage. A bench, squat rack, barbell, dumbbells, free weights, chin-up bar and sit-up chair allow your workout routine to continue away from home.
There are also bicycles for guests to use (two for children and two for adults) as well as golf clubs for men, ladies and children.
Garden
In addition to the roof terrace, Gullane Golf Panorama offers a secure walled garden. Complete with a trampoline and other play equipment, kids will have hours of fun playing outdoors.
Gullane Golf Panorama welcomes one dog per booking. Please note there is a small additional charge of £30 for this.

Enter the property to the lower floor, which houses two bedrooms for guests' use and the family bathroom. The upper floor contains the main living area, including a roof terrace with spectacular views across Gullane No.3. This floor also contains another en-suite bedroom and the kitchen and dining area.

Accessibility

This newly furnished apartment is on the ground floor in a well kept apartment building in Gullane village centre. It has two bedrooms both of which have zip and link bed so can be superking size or split to singles.
There is a fully equipped kitchen and white bathroom suite with wc, basin, bath with shower over. The garage could possibly be used for storage of bikes etc with a private parking space in front of the garage.
There is a great view from the back across to the Lammermuir Hills. It is an easy walk up to the Muirfield Open course and also a very short walk down to the shops, pubs and cafes in Gullane including The Old Clubhouse and country pub overlooking the children`s golf course. For non golfers the long sandy beach is also only a 10 min walk away!
