Around the harbour and all along the foreshore and beach area is the jumble of crow step gabled and pan tiled houses, many with quaint outside stairs.

The High Street is connected to the harbour and foreshore via intimate alleys and lanes, one of which passes St Fillans cave, the key for which is locally available. The High Street has a variety of shops, cafes and art galleries,

Pitenweem is famous for its Art Festival which takes place during the first week of August each year.

The minute I walked in I was on VRBO seeing if I could book it again for the Summer - unfortunately (for me!) it's totally booked up and I can see why!! Here's hoping I can find a way to return again someday......."

Mill View Cottage is perfectly situated just a few hundred yards from the picturesque Fife Coastal Path, half way between St Monans and Pittentweem, and only a 20 min drive from St Andrews. Mill View is a newly renovated, immaculately presented traditional cottage with a large private garden and courtyard parking for four cars. The accommodation is all on one level and is suitable for guests with restricted mobility. The view across the sea to North Berwick with the historic windmill of St.Monans in the foreground is just breathtaking.

Providing a stylish comfortable retreat, the spacious, contemporary interior has been thoughtfully furnished with ample seating in the lounge and dining kitchen for six. There are three spacious bedrooms, one with a super king bed, one with a king size bed, and one with twin beds. The two largest beds are Sealy posturepedic beds with Nostromo pillow top mattresses. They are very spacious and comfortable and should ensure an excellent night's sleep, something that many of our guests have appreciated. The twin beds have award winning Emma mattresses and are also very comfy and suitable for adults or children.

The bedrooms are arranged in two 'wings' on either side of the lounge with the double bedroom and bathroom in one wing and the other two bedrooms and shower room in the other. The bathroom and shower room are recently fitted out with luxury sanitary ware.
The cottage has Sky TV, including SKY cinema and SKY sports, free wifi, Alexa and an ample selection of books, games, jigsaws etc for guests to use. There are also tennis racquets, beach toys etc. For colder days and evenings, there is a wood burning stove with wood supplied. There is a large decked area in the beautiful garden with garden furniture, parasol and outdoor lighting.

Best of all, however, are the wonderful panoramic sea and windmill views. It can be hard to tear yourself away from them to go exploring but well worth doing!

St Monans itself is a traditional harbour village overlooking the Firth of Forth, with spectacular views across to North Berwick, The Isle of May and Bass Rock. You can explore the streets and lanes, historic buildings, the old windmill that once powered the salt panning industry and the beautiful, old 14th Century church. Pittenweem has more shops, coffee shops, art galleries and a busy harbour selling fresh fish daily. There are a number of places in St.Monans selling freshly caught local seafood too, or you can catch your own from the sea front. There is a good local hotel in St. Monans, the very popular East Pier Smoke House selling fantastic lobster and an excellent seafood restaurant.

The Fife Coastal Path is just a stone's throw from the cottage , dotted with pretty fishing villages and many sandy beaches and coves to visit along the way. Pittenweem, St.Monans and Anstruther are all within easy walking distance of the cottage.

Activities for all interests can be found locally: fine golf courses, sandy beaches, watersports, art exhibitions, historic houses and gardens. This area is famous for golf with more than 40 courses in Fife, from the famous fairways of St. Andrews to the more traditional links courses and beautifully landscaped parkland and heathland courses. There are also numerous tennis courts nearby including St.Monans and Elie.

Just at the foot of the road, beside the steps to the coastal path, is Pathhead Nurseries. This is an excellent, well stocked garden centre linked to their own farm. It doesn't have a coffee shop, though there are plenty in the area, but it does sell freshly laid farm eggs from their own hens. It also has some fresh fruit and vegetables. Ardross farm shop is a short distance away and is a foodie's paradise with plenty of locally sourced artisan products. Bowhouse food market is a 2 minute drive and it has regular weekend food festivals.

There are sandy beaches a short drive away, we like Elie Beach and Kingsbarns Beach. Shopping wise, St.Andrews and Anstruther have a large variety of shops with the smaller villages having lovely gift and interior shops and essentials such as bakers, butchers, grocers etc.

Mill View Cottage is a warm, welcoming and comfortable retreat whatever the season. Nestled beside the Fife coastal path it really is a walker’s paradise and a great place to come home to at the end of a busy day. Heaven!

The dining kitchen is fully fitted with white 'Shaker' style units with beech worktops, beech flooring, Neff double oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer . There are wonderful views from the circular glass dinning table through to the conservatory, leading from the kitchen which is a beautiful, bright sunny room with views over the bay.

Anchor House stands at the entrance to the harbour in Pittenweem, one of the famous East Neuk fishing villages in North-East Fife. Neuk means nook or corner in Scots and it is a wonderful corner of Scotland to visit.
Just a few metres back from the harbour, sunlight floods in through the 3 living room windows where you can watch the fishing boats come in and out of the harbour, followed by seagulls and even seals!
Cafes, galleries, antique shops, it's all on your doorstep.
The spacious flat ranges over the first and second floors of an early 18th century fisherman's house, which later in life became the Crown and Anchor pub. You can eat in the new kitchen or at the dining table in the living room. Our own free-range and very spoilt hens will provide fresh eggs for your breakfast if they are laying. There's plenty of comfortable seating in front of the open fire or for watching the smart TV. On this floor are a double and twin bedroom and a bathroom with shower over bath. There's also a bright porch, handy for outdoor gear or even bikes.
Upstairs is another double bedroom and a second living room with fantastic views down to the harbour. There's a camp bed here for a child or hardy adult. There's a newly renovated bathroom up here too.
There's new gas central heating so it's very cosy in winter, and there's an open fire, with a basket of logs provided.
There's no outside space apart from the small courtyard but with the harbour just a few steps away, you have access to all the outdoors you need.

It's a perfect location at the edge of the harbour. As you walk down the road it's just 100m to the Dory bistro, open for lunch and dinner, then a few yards along is the FMA shop selling an unusual range of household and DIY goods, souvenirs and sailing gear. That's followed very shortly by the Larachmor Tavern for a pint, fish and chips or great curry. A couple more steps and there's the famous Pittenweem ice cream and sweetie shop, a must for every holidaymaker and local alike. Take your ice cream on around the corner to the little beach beyond the house on the rock, and enjoy some paddling, some fossicking for shells and sea glass, or picnicking on the beach. Up over the hill to the newly restored bathing pool, get there early, it is very popular!

Take any of the lanes, or wynds as we call them, heading uphill from the harbour and you'll soon gain the main street with it's lovely mix of arts and crafts shops, galleries, Barnett's artisanal bakery, grocer, chemist, post office, and the wonderful Cocoa Tree café with it's range of hot chocolates, lunches and cakes, and exotic chocolates to choose and take home.

The Pop-In is a lovely antique and curio emporium perfect for browsing, beside the only petrol garage in the area.

The Pittenweem Arts Festival will be on again in August. It's a great time to be here, the village is full of visitors and there are events, music and food, as well as the chance to snoop into people's houses in search of art. The upper floor of Anchor House as usual becomes a gallery for the Festival, so if you would like to stay during that period, only the lower floor, sleeping 4 or 5 at a push, will be available - please get in touch if you are interested.

Further afield follow the coastal path to Anstruther one way, St Monans the other way, and carry on to the beaches of Elie beyond that. Just 15 minutes by car will get you to St Andrews, the home of golf and the oldest University in Scotland, founded in 1410. There are plenty of dining and shopping opportunities here too.

- "We stayed here as three couples with the dogs for a week over the summer solstice period and had a thoroughly superb week. The accommodation works brilliantly over three floors with generous double bedrooms and three bathrooms and the ground floor living area works well with a large kitchen diner and large living room. The garden is lovely but the best feature has got to be the fact that you walk out of the gate onto the beach. Pittenweem is a beautiful working fishing port with a good pub, really good bistro several cafes and all the amenities you need. The proximity to the Fife coastal path was one of the major reasons for our choice of venue and we weren't disappointed. I would happily holiday here again and explore more of this beautiful, but quiet part of Scotland. I cannot recommend this property highly enough."

Sleeps 8/9 - Eider House is a beautifully renovated 4 bedroomed house close to the shore in Pittenweem. This house is full of original features but it has been tastefully renovated to incorporate all of the modern amenities that you would want to find.

The ground floor is dominated by a fantastic open-plan kitchen/dining/living area created out of what used to be a fisherman's store. The result is a high ceilinged room that forms the focal point of the house. Outside the kitchen there is a paved seating area. Also on the ground floor there is a spacious bedroom with three single beds and a separate shower room.

On the first floor there is a more formal living room which has lovely views out to the Firth of Forth, comfortable seating and a gas fire for those cooler evenings. On arrival at The Tosh you will find plenty space for parking a good number of cars. Access to the house is through a beautifully presented courtyard and once inside you enter a large hall with a double height ceiling. One half of this is glazed and so the entire area is flooded with natural light, it is such a welcoming space.

Ahead of you are two doors leading to the adjoining living rooms which are linked by glazed double doors. Going into the left hand living room will lead you to the stunning dining/kitchen which is a real focal point of the house.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all the appliances you would expect and at its heart is a pillar box red Aga. There are separate ovens and a hob for those that prefer. Moving back into the hall you get access to the other "wing" of the ground floor which houses two bedrooms and a modern shower room. The furthest bedroom can be either a super king double or a twin and it has a chest of drawers, the other is a fixed double with a built in wardrobe.

As you move back into the hall there is a small toilet/cloakroom. All of the public rooms and bedrooms on the ground floor have fabulous hardwood floors.

The timber staircase in the hall takes you up to the first floor with a long open hall off which lie three further bedrooms and a family bathroom. Guests should be aware that all of the rooms on the first floor have coombed ceilings which restrict the ceiling heights in certain areas.

The first bedroom is either a super king double or a twin room and it has a fitted wardrobe and lovely views over the garden. The next bedroom is a twin with a chest of drawers and the final bedroom is another super king double or twin with built in wardrobes and a chest of drawers.

May View is a stylish and comfortable two-bedroom property on the harbour front of Pittenweem. Set on the first level of a traditional home, May View offers spacious and homely accommodation in a great location for four guests.
Entering on street level a staircase leads to the first level. The corner position allows the light to stream into the living spaces from windows on three sides. The lounge area is a relaxing place to sit with a book or watch the boats in the harbour and you can enjoy breakfast with a view of the sea from the dining area. With a well-equipped kitchen, you’ll be able to visit the farm shops and local producers to choose ingredients for preparing a home cooked meal or take advantage of the many great restaurants, bistros and cafes as well as fish and chip takeaways.
Both bedrooms are double rooms with ample storage and are calm relaxing spaces, neutrally decorated with coastal touches. The family bathroom has a shower over the bath. On street parking is available.
Pittenweem is one of the East Neuk villages, renowned for a gentle pace of life and quaint charm. May View sits directly across from the harbour so guests will be able to watch the coming and goings of fishing boats as they enter and leave the harbour. You might even catch a glimpse of Sammy, the resident harbour seal or even some dolphins passing by. For the adventurous there is a tidal pool for open water swimming as well miles of unspoilt coastal path to explore.

The location of this lovely cottage is sublime. A quintessential fisherman’s cottage, the property has been restored to provide luxury, contemporary and tastefully furnished, self-catering accommodation yet still maintaining some of the character within a unique setting. There has been a fisherman’s cottage on this location since the 16th-century and the original building fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1908 and not rebuilt until 1918 after the Great War. The family who built the new fisherman’s cottage were from St Andrews, hence the name. The old hooks where the fishing nets were hung to dry are still on the wall in the back garden, which is now a sunny courtyard and ideal for enjoying the summer sun with a glass of wine. The old wash house still has the old sink and is great for cleaning sports equipment or rinsing the sand off your buckets and spades. Within the cottage you will find it is beautifully presented with much thought, care and attention to the finer details. Both spacious double bedrooms are en-suite, and on the ground floor there is also a large storage cupboard to store your golf equipment. The open plan living space on the first floor captures the amazing sea views to enable guests to enjoy watching the fishing boats entering and leaving the picturesque harbour, and the fish market in the morning where the local fishermen sell their catch. If fish is on your menu you can purchase freshly caught fish and prepare that special meal in the well-equipped kitchen.

From your front door you can walk to the local inn, fish and chip shop, restaurants, chocolate shop and café, local bakers shop and an interesting array of artist galleries. Explore the quaint lanes and wynds of this historic fishing village and find St Fillan’s cave in Cove Wynd, which was used as a chapel by St Fillan in the 700s. Pittenweem Arts Festival held at the beginning of August is a very popular event. The Fife Coastal Path passes through the village and is ideal for exploring the coast on foot to picturesque fishing villages and beautiful sandy beaches and coves. This area is famous for golf and St Andrews with its championship courses is within 10 miles, as are more than twenty other local courses so you will be spoilt for choice. With historic buildings, whisky distillery, museums and visitor attractions and boat trips to the Isle of May to see the wild birds, St Andrews in Pittenweem is the perfect location for all ages to explore this area of Fife. - "Lovely flat in a great location. Thoroughly recommend" - "Pittenweem is lovely fishing village that is handy for the Fife Coastal path as well as getting to St Andrews, Dundee, Perth and Edinburgh, even the Kelpies are only an hour away. The house itself was very clean and the beds are comfortable, something you need when you get to a certain age. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and a couple of the Scottish chocolate cakes. Dishwasher tablets, pods for the washing machine and even pods for the Nespresso coffee machine were provided. There are plenty of crockery, cutlery and kitchen utensils, should you want to do your own cooking. If you want to eat out, we can highly recommend The Bank Hotel in Anstruther, the next town along, takes about 20 mins to walk or you can get the bus, or for that special meal, The Dory Bistro, next door has oysters to die for. We would certainly come here again. Only two slight negatives, the tumble dryer did not work and there were no instructions left for dealing with the rubbish or the bedding at the end of the stay."

Bass View is a traditional harbourfront home in the fishing town of Pittenweem. Set over the first and second level there are four bedrooms and three bathrooms making this a great choice for an extended family or group. Entering the property a staircase leads to the first floor where there is an open plan lounge/dinging kitchen with views out over the working harbour towards the Bass Rock. From here, you can watch the boats coming in to land their catch and might even spot the resident harbour seal, Sammy. There is a spacious double bedroom with en-suite shower room and a further WC on this level.

Harbour House is a spacious three bedroom, three bathroom property located on the harbourfront of the beautiful fishing village, Pittenweem. As a working harbour, fishing boats come in and out every day landing their catch at the market just beyond the house, and with sea views from every front facing room, you will find yourself mesmerised as you watch the boats and sea beyond.

Forming the upper two levels of a large property, there are two studio apartments on the ground floor. All three properties can be booked together to accommodate up to ten guests.
Entering into the hallway, a set of internal stairs leads to Harbour House and on the first floor is the spacious lounge which opens onto a well equipped kitchen. The dining area sits by the patio doors which lead to the enclosed, sheltered garden which has seating and grassed areas. The first of the three sea view bedrooms is also on this level, and can be arranged as a superking or twin as requested and the family bathroom with shower over bath completes this level.
Stairs lead to the second floor where a further two bedrooms are. Both are superkings with the option of twin on request and both benefit from en-suite shower rooms.
Pittenweem is a picturesque village and with Harbour House sitting on the coastal path, each of the other East Neuk villages can be easily reached on foot or by road. With the outdoor tidal pool and West Braes just minutes to the West and Anstruther Golf Club a short walk to the East, there’s plenty to do for those who like to be active outdoors. Equally, it’s a lovely spot to relax in on cooler evenings watching the waves from the comfortable lounge. There’s a vibrant Arts community in the East Neuk as well as an excellent larder of amazing food and drink- known as the jewel in the crown of the Kingdom of Fife, the East Neuk has something for everyone.

Seaglass Cottage has been thoughtfully finished to a high standard to include all of the extras that make it an ideal family choice- from the activities in the games room, outdoor games, Xbox and Wii consoles for the younger members of the group to the aspects which will appeal to the adults such as the wood burning stove, large garden with outdoor furniture and barbecue area to enjoy al fresco drinks and dining. Enjoy the sea in this beautifully refurbished fisherman’s house within yards of the only working harbour in the East Neuk of Fife. See the boats bring in their prawns and lobsters, watch the fishermen repair their nets and experience that special south-facing sparkle of the sun on the waters all from the lounge. You will see seals in the harbour, and perhaps even a whale out in the Firth of Forth. Or sit out the back in the sunny, terraced garden with your cuppa and cast a glance to the

south to the Bass Rock… and if you fancy a walk, the House is right on the Fife Coastal Path.

House on the Harbour opens into a comfortable and spacious sitting room with a feature glass panelled staircase leading to the upstairs living space where the sitting room, kitchen, dining room and patio flow from one to the other. The modern kitchen is well equipped, and the dining room comfortably seats 8 people. The French doors in the dining room lead onto the patio – perfect for outside entertaining with its large table. The upstairs sitting room features a beautiful exposed stone wall and stunning fireplace, and is flooded with light from the three windows. The downstairs bathroom has a bath and power shower, and the upstairs has a luxurious walk in shower. Larger groups could also rent the Penthouse Flat 1 , which comfortably sleeps 2 - 4. Together the main house and the penthouse could comfortably accommodate groups of up to 10.
