Recently renovated, Thornbank Cottage is a cosy semi-detached cottage dating from the 1760's in the heart of the historic Borders village of Coldingham on the Berwickshire coast. Our home is a perfect place for a family holiday or for a group of friends to explore one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland.

The cottage has been recently refurbished to a high standard and is warm and comfortable with double glazing, underfloor heating, radiators and a log burning stove in the sitting room.

Upstairs there is accommodation for four guests in two bedrooms, one with a king sized bed and one with two single beds. There is also a new bathroom with bath and power shower.

Downstairs is a sitting room with log burning stove and smart TV, with Freesat. Comfortable sofas seat six. After a hard day at the beach or rambling along the coast or inland you can relax with a film, a family board game or keep up to date with friends and family through the Wifi internet. The kitchen / dining room is fully equipped, including fridge freezer, oven and grill, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine plus a dining table for up to six guests.

There is also a south facing sun-room, with chaise longue, arm chairs and a beanbag. This room leads to the secluded south facing patio garden with seating for outdoor eating and relaxing. The rear garden has a shed and storage area for bikes or for cleaning wetsuits or surfboards. At the front is a sunny garden and there is also off street parking.

All linen and towels are provided, but you should bring your own towels for the beach. There are also the basics you need to cater for yourselves such as olive oil, salt and pepper, flour, pasta, kitchen roll, toilet paper etc. All we ask is that if you use a lot of the supplies, that you replace what you've used.

If you would like to have groceries delivered to the cottage after you have arrived, then Sainsburys, Asda, Morrisons and Tesco all deliver. So, just order your shopping on line and it will arrive while you are settling in.

We bought Cormorant cottage in November 2016 because we love the area and adore the house. It is our intention to stay there as often as we can, and rent it out at other times. So it truly is our home from home.

Cormorant Cottage is part of a delightful steading conversion on the outskirts of Coldingham with its beautiful beach, historic priory and country walks. Nearby St Abbs has stunning cliff top walks, a small harbour from which diving is available and a marine reserve. To the south is Eyemouth with its active fishing harbour, fishing museum, beach and shopping.
The cottage provides luxury self catering accommodation with views to the countryside and sea which is about 1/2 a mile away by public footpath. The cottage has recently been renovated to a high standard in a fresh contemporary style but still including a wood-burning stove to ensure a cosy core to the stylish interiors. The aim is to create a relaxing peaceful ambiance and a base in the perfect location for your Scottish Borders and North Northumbria holiday adventures. The main road artery the A1 is only a few miles away for travels further afield and with Railway Stations at Berwick upon Tweed and Dunbar journeys to Edinburgh or Newcastle or beyond without the strain of driving are an easy option.

Added to our self catering portfolio in 2022 is a new Tiny House. Built during winter 2021/22 by a local Joiner and myself to our own design. We have created this magical place to stay.

The accommodation is designed for two people and comprises of a living area, kitchen, mezzanine bedroom and full toilet shower room .

Our stunning "Tiny House" combines tradition and luxury. Built on a 7m tiny house chassis to road legal specification by my local joiner and myself to our own design. This is a truly a unique place to stay !

Our Tiny House ‘The Ashmere’ really is a tiny house, on wheels, designed for minimal living and to be towed on the open road, but The Ashmere is a permanent fixture at Templehall, perfectly sited in a grassy paddock it has great views over the fields to the sea, and is packed with all you need for a perfect holiday.

Inside, at one end you will find a comfortable seating area, with spacious storage drawers underneath, and a smart TV and the well-equipped kitchen at the other. There is a full-sized oven, 2 ring electric hob, a microwave, a full- sized fridge with a freezer compartment all complemented by excellent quality cookware, cutlery and hand-made crockery. The kitchen and breakfast bar have great open views to the sea, although there is complimentary high speed Wifi throughout our site, you could ditch the smart phones and gaze at the view.

Off the kitchen is the shower room, with shower, toilet and wash hand basin. A good-sized shower with copious hot water and complimentary shower gel and shampoo, after your shower wrap yourself up in the supplied 100% Egyptian cotton towels. There is also a shower mat plus an electric towel radiator to keep the bathroom cosy and dry your towels.
Under the staircase is a shelved cupboard and wardrobe
On the mezzanine floor, accessed by the ash staircase, which has more storage underneath, is the bedroom. Lying on the comfortable double bed you can look out of the two windows, one giving amazing views over the sea and a velux window in the roof for warm stargazing of our dark skies.

Our bedding is a sumptuous silver 100% Egyptian cotton sateen with a 400-thread count. Beautifully comfortable feather and down pillows to prop you up. There are adjustable bedside lights and bedside shelves for your odds and ends.

The tiny house is kept cosy in the cooler months or evenings by a very efficient electric panel radiator and in the summer several of the windows, including the velux can be opened for fresh sea breezes to blow through.

Outside there is comfortable seating and table alongside the fire pit with a grill top for BBQ, there is a starter bag of logs, should you require more, or charcoal you can purchase from us.

All bedding, towels, bath mat, tea towels and dish cloths are supplied.

We had glorious weather when we stayed so maybe we were a bit spoilt, however, you can not take away the fact that this areas has such a great deal to offer! It's right off the A1 so very central yet very tranquil. To the South Edinburgh an hour away, which is absolutely fabulous! To the North, OMG the coastline is amazing! Holy Island is a must! In terms of the accommodation, all very comfortable, beds are lovely and so comfortable. You are literally on sea front! Lovely sounds of the sea at night! The kitchen is quite small so don't expect to seat 5 even though it says to. The back garden is not completely secure, until you go across the party yard and enter the small garden with a gate on it. If your dog is well behaved you do not need the back as the front garden is the beach!!! There is a small space at the back for sitting out but it is not private. The bathroom is very comfortable. This is a really good place for visiting around here and was scrupulously clean and smelt lovely when we arrived. It looked like it had new carpets and newly decorated. Heather, who looks after the place was very attentive when I texted her! All in all a fab holiday!!!!!"

Dotted with beach huts and ringed with wildlife-rich dunes and grassland, the horseshoe-shaped Coldingham Bay is one of the most picturesque beaches in southern Scotland. Please note that the balcony is fully enclosed, however young children must be supervised at all times.

PARKING
There is a designated parking space for each apartment directly to the front of the development which comprises eight apartments in total. There is a disabled parking space and guest parking spaces on a first come, first served basis. There is additional parking in the public car park opposite St Vedas Surf Shop.

Rarely are we impressed by an apartment, however, this is no ordinary one. The sheer size of the living space and the attention to detail, with the comfort and experience of the guest in mind is, quite frankly, excellent. The property is suited to couples and has three double bedrooms with kingsize beds. Two of the bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms while the largest bedroom is next to the main bathroom. The bedrooms all have Smart TVs to make lazy mornings that little bit better.

Guests will absolutely love the living space. The contemporary design works exceptionally well with the older style of the building, and the ceiling height gives a sense of grandeur in the way that old bank buildings always did. At the end of the living area and the huge open space, there is a wood burner which will be a welcome sight after a day out enjoying the beaches and coastal walks around here and neighbouring Northumberland. There’s a bit of a WOW factor about the dining table which has been bespoke designed and reclaimed with restored timber and iron. Family occasions and friends’ celebrations are meant to be spent at this table!

The extent of luxury continues to the kitchen where the range of appliances goes beyond ’normal’. An American-style fridge/freezer will ensure the perfect supply of ice on demand. Two high-level ovens, a microwave oven and a dishwasher will make things that little bit easier and there is a wine cooler so you won’t need to use up all the room in the fridge. For the occasions when guests want to dine out, Eyemouth has a fine selection of bars and restaurants and obviously, there’s excellent fish and chips - you’re by the sea after all.

Guests can enjoy day trips out on the water from Eyemouth Harbour or take a day trip to Edinburgh and Newcastle, not to mention the historic towns through the Borders and Northumberland.
