Temperature Control:
The decking is insulated underneath to help with the cold winters. When the sun is out on a warm day the yurt will heat up nicely through the dome and can be cooled by opening the windows, the dome, and running the ceiling fan. Also keeping the outside windows up keeps the heat out if you get to hot.

Kitchen:
We have everything you need to cook a meal at your home away from home. Refrigerator w/freezer, 2 burner cooktop, microwave, Keurig, and toaster oven. For the Kids
At the Chalet you will find children's dishes and utensils, an assortment of toys and books, and a Pack and Play that you are welcome to make use of during your stay. Our grandchildren are generous and don't mind sharing (we love spoiling them and your kids too).

Guest Access
The entire house is accessible with the exception of master bathroom closet, downstairs bedroom storage cabinets and the garage. A covered carport is available for guest use.

The Neighborhood
Nestled in a quiet little valley, meadow homes dot the area. The Chalet has a clear view of the surrounding mountains from the open living areas many windows, sitting on the front deck or while soaking in the hot tub. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of our valley or venture out to play, depending on the season with hiking, boating, fishing, hot springs, or winter sports all a relatively short drive away.

Getting Around
The Boise airport is 30 minutes away and serves most of the major airlines. Car rentals are conveniently available. A car is needed to get around and explore the area. 4 wheel drive and/or chains are necessary during the winter months. The nearest major grocery store is located in Boise, so be sure to stop and get groceries before heading up the mountain.

*Fire pit usage is seasonal depending on local fire danger level; typically July through September is unavailable for use and those rules must be adhered to. Guests will be notified of such times.
*Maximum hot tub usage at one time is 5 people.
*Loft upstairs has been rearranged into an open sleeping area. It contains a full size futon bed with a thick hand tufted mattress for an extra comfy sleeping experience.
*Downstairs bedroom has full size sleep sofa, and bunk bed with full-size mattress on bottom bunk and twin mattress on top.
* Parking available for multiple vehicles and a snowmobile, trailer or boat. The parking area is more limited as we get snow in the winter.
* Pricing is listed for up to 4 guests. There will be a $25 per person per night charge for each guest after that.

This authentic log home, constructed in the early 1990s, is stunningly located on the edge of a cliff in the mountain residential community of Wilderness Ranch, just 24 miles northeast of Boise off of Highway 21 on the way to historic Idaho City. The house has almost 1,500 sq. feet of deck on three sides that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside dotted with Ponderosa pines and populated by a wide variety of wildlife, including deer, elk, and fox.

The cabin features a cathedral great room incorporating a fully outfitted retro kitchen, a six-person dining room table, a large kitchen island that can seat four, and a living room with a wood-burning fireplace (which you are free to use, but you must bring your own firewood). Two sets of glass French doors open to the deck. Also on the main floor is a full bathroom with a double vanity, shower and jetted tub (not a hot tub!), all original to the house; a master bedroom with a queen bed and glass sliding-door access to the deck; and a second bedroom with one queen bed and one twin. Please note, however, that there is currently no accessible clothes washer or dryer.

From the main floor, a log stairway leads to a large loft, which features another full bath (shower only), a full-size bed and full-size sofa bed. You'll also find there a collection of several hundred movie videos and DVDs for your viewing pleasure on a flat screen TV! Because the loft has log railings with large gaps that present falling hazards, this area is not suitable for unsupervised small children.

Wilderness Ranch has privately maintained dirt roads and the road leading to the cabin is narrow and steep in some places. While a two-wheel drive vehicle is fine for accessing the cabin most of the year, you must have a four-wheel drive vehicle with studded snow tires and/or chains during the months when there is likely to be significant snow on the mountain (November through March). There can be significant climatic differences between Boise and Wilderness Ranch. Even when there is no snow on the ground in Boise, the roads at the ranch can be snow covered and icy. Also during periods of heavy rain (spring and fall), the roads can become muddy and difficult to transverse. No refunds will be given for poor road conditions or inclement weather.

Please note that as an authentic log cabin, with exposed log interior walls, in a wilderness area, there more issues with dust and insects than a regular house. In the fall (September/October) when the temperatures drop, we have challenges with wasps trying to get into the cabin, notwithstanding that we employ an exterminator. So if the sight of a wasp or insect in the house would bother you, this is not the vacation rental for you!

Be aware that cell phone coverage at the ranch (and on the way from Boise) is spotty or not available at all. However, the house does have a landline phone.

Please note the map may show Bogus Basin ski area as close-by, but those roads are not open in winter. To get to Bogus Basin, you need to drive into Boise and then back out. Trip takes about 90 minutes.

Final note: Pets and domestic animals of any kind are not allowed anywhere on the property, inside or outside the house. Violation of this rule will subject you to immediate removal, forfeiture of your security deposit and additional charges.

I always appreciate knowing the actual layout, so here is a brief synopsis- ground floor~fairly open concept with nice living room, dining area that seats 6 comfortably(7 in a pinch) and kitchen. Bedroom with king size bed that connects to a bathroom with not really a shower but a beautiful tub. The bathroom also has a door to the hallway for everyone to use. And the laundry is on this floor. Basement has a ping pong table, darts and an amusing tiki bar (amusing because it’s in a basement in the Id mtns). Second floor has the gym, and 3 bedrooms. One with twin bunk beds and some smaller children’s toys and items. And one that attaches to the bathroom on that floor (it has a huge shower) and has its own deck. The drive in from hwy 21 wasn’t long but it was all dirt and very windy and sort of narrow in spots, but it wasn’t scary. I wouldn’t enjoy it much in the winter, so I think if I was going in a snowy/icy time I would plan to bring all my groceries with me and spend the majority of the time at the cabin to avoid the road. We left fairly often to spend time in Idaho city and even ventured all the way to the cherry festival in Emmett. Kitchen has everything.Wi-Fi worked great. Cell service of course wasn’t good. We didn’t have any issues so didn’t really need to contact the owners much"

The space
Your cozy space will keep you and your companion comfortable after a full day of fun on the hot spring ranch or after adventuring. The expansive and private property offers all sorts of outdoor activities for you and your companion to exclusively enjoy. In addition to the private hot spring pool take advantage of: badminton, horseshoes, mountain disc golf, croquet, photography, bird watching, hiking, biking, river activities, star gazing & a seasonal Fairy Tale Garden with private soaker tub. Tours are highly recommended to help you take full advantage of the ranch. Initial guided river access is required, after which you are free to enjoy the private beach and source at your leisure. You must respect off-limits areas; if you're unsure, please ask. Our horse Legs is our official mascot and he loves the treats we provide.

Guest access
We are owner/hosts & live on site, but there are NO shared spaces between us and our guests. The listing offers an exclusive experience with no other guests or unregistered visitors allowed. You'll have access to your living space & private bathroom, much of the grounds around the 7 acre property; including a disc golf course which serves as a great self guided tour, waterfall platform, river access (guided initially, no fishing allowed, but great holes are w/in walking distance) 24 hour private hot spring pool (clothing optional), creek side hammock, and all of our outdoor activities with lots of room to play and relax on multiple patios and river view seating areas. We provide a propane grill and fire pit. We encourage guests to support local restaurants to unburden themselves from having to prepare meals.

Other things to note
Please familiarize yourself & your companion with the listing. Read the entire description & click on pictures to reveal captions. The bathroom is roughly 25 steps from your living space and only 10 feet from the pool, which makes for a handy changing room and a quick dash to a warm room during the cold months. In a tiny house situation, it is our opinion that having the bathroom separate from the studio helps keep the romance alive. And an added bonus, the shower will never run out of hot water!

We are adults only (including infants), and two-person maximum. Tobacco use, underage drinking, unregistered guests, and animals of any kind are prohibited. Leave the kids & pets at home and come here to disconnect from the everyday grind. This is a completely safe sanctuary and place of true respite.

Please bring what you need to prepare meals; we don't provide dishes, etc. We offer a grill, microwave, frig, and coffeemaker w/ fresh ground organic coffee, plus some little surprises. Jamie and Dan are so welcoming, and the amenities and hospitality were perfect for our stay. For the pool being a shared space, we did not feel like they were too close—in fact, it was nice to have someone nearby in case anything happened. Legs the horse was a sweet feature as well as the elk grazing close by. We’ve never been to Idaho before, and when we return, we’d love to stay here again!"

The space
The Lowman Lodge is cozy second story 1 bedroom 1 bath mountain cabin. Bedroom has a queen bed, walk in closet and the bathroom is located as an on-suite to the bedroom. The Living room is spacious and has a 3-seat queen sleeper couch with memory foam mattress. Off the living room there is a small deck with BBQ. There is also a small dining area off the living room with space for 4 people. The living room has a smart TV with Netflix and Amazon prime available for guests to log in to with their own information. The living room and kitchen share an open concept with a breakfast bar solid wood counter and 3 high chair/stool seat. There is also a welcoming entry way bottom of the stairs, and under the stairs is a cozy kids zone hang out book reading/play space. There is an air mattress and pump for expanded sleeping options.

Dirt roads, private drive. Free Parking. 2 cars permitted to park in the driveway, 1 car permitted on private street. Please drive slowly and do not block other properties or driveways. Thank you! PLEASE BE ADVISED: This home is located on a dirt road off HWY 21. During winter months one needs to be sure they are traveling safely and using a 4-wheel drive vehicle and always traveling with chains. When booking the home during winter months and into early spring, our cancellation policy will remain in force regardless of bad weather or transit challenges, unless there is a natural disaster or other similar extenuating circumstance.

- "I surprised my husband with an overnight stay in this tiny home (unit 2)… it was awesome! Great location with nice outdoor seating areas and inside a modern beautiful retreat! We love Idaho City and wanted to try something different, this was a cool getaway! Rented a private soak at The Springs and enjoyed live music and drinks at The Gold Mine across the street. Had a yummy breakfast at Trudy’s before heading home. The tiny home also has a hot tub for guests to use, which was a cool bonus! Check in/out was super easy and the owners were great about communicating. Highly recommend!"
