About the Yurt:
The 30’ yurt came from Pacific Yurts in Cottage Grove, Oregon. The yurt was erected in 2022 and in 2023 we added all the rooms and beautiful woodwork inside. It is on a Kiln Dried Tongue and Groove decking. Yurts are designed to withstand cold winters and this one is no exception.

Temperature Control:
The decking is insulated underneath to help with the cold winters. When the sun is out on a warm day the yurt will heat up nicely through the dome and can be cooled by opening the windows, the dome, and running the ceiling fan. Also keeping the outside windows up keeps the heat out if you get to hot.
the yurt is equipped with a mini-split w/remoted, allowing personalized temperature control.

Kitchen:
We have everything you need to cook a meal at your home away from home. Refrigerator w/freezer, 2 burner cooktop, microwave, Keurig, and toaster oven. Have all the basics from napkins, plates, silverware, cooking supplies, spices, flour, sugar etc. Don’t feel like cooking then head down to the local bar & restaurant for a nice meal, drink, and meet some locals.

Living Room:
Inside is a quaint living area with a couch where guests can gather, unwind, and enjoy the yurt!. There is no TV but feel free to use the wireless internet for your own devices. Take the time to enjoy being unplugged from the everyday hustle and bustle of life. There is a Bluetooth speaker to enjoy some music or play some board games/cards.

Bedroom:
Who would think that you would enjoy a luxurious king bed (all bedding included) in a yurt. There are two nightstands with wall chargers for your phones if you forget yours. A dresser a nice bench add convenience to your stay.

You’ll be surprised to find we have all you need in a bathroom from a shower, flushing toilet, wine barrel sink, towels, and mirror.

The Hillside Hideaway is truly a unique and memorable space - a newly renovated 1970's home with a few fun retro throwbacks on a wooded half-acre hillside - a very short walk (less than 250 steps, to be exact) down a private, groomed & lit trail to the 18-hole championship golf course, driving range, pickleball, bar, restaurant and hot springs pool! This is also a PRIME location for sledding, snowshoers, snowmobilers & ATV enthusiasts!

The outdoor living space is absolutely stellar - Ambient lighting hung high in the pines over an expansive deck with ample seating, complete with a BBQ & space heater you're welcome to utilize. There is an additional entertaining area below the deck with a fire ring & bench seating for that smore-filled-Summer night experience every family dreams of! In the winter it becomes a scene out of a Hallmark movie with your own personal snow-covered forest and a heater on the deck to enjoy the outdoors and the view while staying nice and cozy.

Indoor living is equally exceptional - Offering smart-home amenities - our Alexa is set up to be your personal assistant during your stay, when you arrive, just say "Alexa, we've arrived!" and she’ll take you on a tour of The Hillside Hideaway, our community, and the surrounding area. The second bedroom - while the master bedroom has the feel of a modern resort, this bedroom offers the nostalgia of the good ol' days of Summer camp! The atmosphere is that of a wooded cabin in a mountain getaway. It can accommodate 3 adults comfortably, or 4 kiddos, boasting an adult bunk bed and pull-out sofa with a full-sized hide-a-bed. Be sure to check out the vintage board games in the closet for endless hours of entertainment for all ages! We also offer a queen-sized air mattress with it's own bedding if you and your party need the extra accommodation.

The large guest bathroom is a colorful splash of retro flare complete with a bathtub and plenty spots to hang suits and towels after a day at our community's hot-springs-fed-pool or the nearby river.

The living, dining room & kitchen are a mix of modern and retro - a fantastic cross of luxurious comfort and nostalgia. The kitchen is stocked with all the dishes & cookware you could possibly need, It includes a refrigerator, water cooler, pantry, microwave, electric griddle, oven & range, and of course a coffee maker!

And the community - Terrace Lakes is a mountain resort that is just as unique as The Hillside Hideaway - offering an 18-hole Championship Golf Course, a driving range in the Summer that becomes an enormous sled hill for those snowy Winter days. An outdoor hot-springs-fed pool that's open year-round (access is only $12/day). There's a poolside bar that can accommodate golfers & swimmers alike. The club house contains a restaurant on the front end that's open for all meals of the day and the golf shop on the back to book your tee time, rent golf carts, or purchase a souvenir. For those 21 & up - walk upstairs to the BEST BAR IN IDAHO! The Lodge is a hidden GEM where you can enjoy inexpensive well-drinks, sports on the big-screen, pool, darts, and shuffle board - hours of endless entertainment.

A note to our winter travelers: Garden Valley, ID gets a fair amount of snow and has the look and feel of a winter wonderland on a Hallmark card! Terrace Lakes plows the main roads of our community, but please keep in mind that The Hillside Hideaway is located… well… on a hillside. There are two driving options that will get you to The Hillside Hideaway, an uphill option and a downhill option. Either way - 4WD vehicles &/or chains are recommended in snowy conditions. You can also park in the clubhouse parking lot and walk up our path or road for access on foot. Just ask us for details. The fire pit & pathways are not maintained during snowy months, we do plow the driveway and shovel the entryway & back deck prior to your stay. Snow shovels are provided.

Our community - Terrace Lakes - is a natural hot springs community that was established in the 60's. Along with the benefits of having a heated pool year round and the draw it is for wildlife - there are a few set backs to this. Mineral deposits occasionally get into the community water which may cause the tap water to change color. Though this isn't going to cause illness, our family prefers to drink filtered water. There is a Brita water filter in the fridge and I also provide 1-3 gallon jugs of drinking water for our guests, depending on the length of their stay. The spares are located in the floor of the pantry. There is a Laundromat in Crouch, Spit & Shine that uses a water softener, if you would rather wash your clothes there.

We had a little hiccup getting there as we did not receive the check-in email, and Google Maps tried to send us up a back fire road that was blocked with snow. My husband hiked in about a half mile, found the right house, which had Wi-Fi password and owner numbers on the door. He was able to call and get correct map info. Our daughter and son in law came up the next day, and we were able to give them the right directions and they made it no problem. The power went out our first evening for about 3 hours. We just went to bed early and got up when the power came back on to turn the wood pellet stove back on. The next day, water supply was off for a while but fixed before very long. Neither of these was the owners’ fault, but they offered us a complimentary weekend in the future which was very thoughtful and generous. Overall, we had a nice stay. We were able to use the Traeger and our kids even tried the hot tubs in the snow. "

You'll have access to your living space & private bathroom, much of the grounds around the 7 acre property; including a disc golf course which serves as a great self guided tour, waterfall platform, river access (guided initially, no fishing allowed, but great holes are w/in walking distance) 24 hour private hot spring pool (clothing optional), creek side hammock, and all of our outdoor activities with lots of room to play and relax on multiple patios and river view seating areas. We provide a propane grill and fire pit. We encourage guests to support local restaurants to unburden themselves from having to prepare meals.

Other things to note
Please familiarize yourself & your companion with the listing. Read the entire description & click on pictures to reveal captions. The bathroom is roughly 25 steps from your living space and only 10 feet from the pool, which makes for a handy changing room and a quick dash to a warm room during the cold months. In a tiny house situation, it is our opinion that having the bathroom separate from the studio helps keep the romance alive. And an added bonus, the shower will never run out of hot water!

We are adults only (including infants), and two-person maximum. Tobacco use, underage drinking, unregistered guests, and animals of any kind are prohibited. Leave the kids & pets at home and come here to disconnect from the everyday grind. This is a completely safe sanctuary and place of true respite.

Please bring what you need to prepare meals; we don't provide dishes, etc. We offer a grill, microwave, frig, and coffeemaker w/ fresh ground organic coffee, plus some little surprises. A great place to stay for a couple nights if you plan on visiting Anderson Reserve. Short drive to Roystone Hotsprings as well where you can reserve a private soaking pool. Spectacular. Asian feng shui motifs and decor transport guests to a timeless, far distant calm and serenity. The king-size bed has been lowered to simulate the floor-level rice beds of Japan, and the owner-built headboard not only incorporates a lumbar-support feature but also matches the custom iron railing, lamps, flowering tree and side tables. The bath continues the Asian theme with a spacious custom marble walk-in shower and a large corner whirlpool tub--one wall of which houses a second TV with stereo sound. A local artisan crafted the stained-glass shower window and door. Behind the oriental screen above the headboard are a kitchenette area with microwave, coffee maker, and refrigerator and a morning make-up and primping area. Below the foot of the bed is a sunken sitting room with a love seat, recliner, fireplace and built-in surround sound satellite TV/DVD system. Our cozy furnished yurt is nestled in 43 acres of secluded mountains a mile above the S Fork of the Payette River between Banks and Crouch. It offers off the grid camping with electricity, wood burning stove, sink, propane cook stove, grill and WiFi if desired. It's close to most every outdoor activity you would find in the mountains of Idaho.
Note: Our yurt may not suitable for everyone. There is no running water. We provide fresh water in jugs and there is a clean porta-potty.
The space
Surround Yourself with Nature. Whether you are escaping to the mountains for a quiet getaway or using it as a basecamp for your outdoor activities, this is one adventure you will always remember. Hiking, biking, hot springs, skiing, snowshoeing, rafting, kayaking, fishing, UTV/ATV riding trails on USFS & BLM land are just a few activities that are minutes (if not out the front door) from our yurt.

It's comfortable, cozy, can sleep 5. 2 on the bottom of the bunk bed, 1 on the top and 2 on the futon. There are 3" river mats on the bunk beds. Bring your own bedding based upon the weather and season. We recommend 0-degree bags in the winter, light weight ones for the summer and don't forget your pillows! The yurt does not have running water (we provide 5-gallon jugs of fresh artesian water) nor does it have a shower. It does have a sink where you can wash the dishes.

We provide the firewood for the wood stove. We provide a few fire starters, but also an axe so you can chop up your own kindling. There is lighting inside of the yurt but none on the outside, so be sure to bring your headlamps and flashlights!

There is a 2-burner propane stove with a cast iron griddle that can be used to heat up water or cook your favorite meals. There is also a propane grill on the deck. We have it stocked with most dishes and utensils needed for cooking a meal, along with a spice rack and olive oil.

If you decide on staying at this yurt, please understand it's going to require more effort than staying at a house. You will have a very short hike to the yurt, and it could be slick or muddy or in the dirt. You will need to start a fire in the winter. If you don't know how to start a fire, we can provide you instructions!

This yurt is the perfect spot for having a cozy retreat in the wilderness. It is quiet, secluded, and private even though we live on the property. You won't see us unless you request to see us!
Guest access
The road from the highway to the yurt visitor parking area is a rock/dirt road that is steep and narrow in a few spots. We do our best to keep the road drivable in the winter, however, the road is usually snow-covered, icy, and often not suitable for regular highway tires. AWD/4WD with snow/winter tires are highly recommended. If you have chains, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have them available. The roads are clear in the spring, summer and fall.

You can drive up close to this yurt and you will need to pack in your gear from the designated yurt parking or unloading area. In the summer you can use an ATV/UTV and in the winter you can use a snowmobile to get closer access to the yurt.
Other things to note
Bring beverages in cans, boxes, or reusable plastic bottles. No glass please.

Up to two well-behaved dogs are allowed per reservation for an additional fee. Please let us know you are bringing dogs in advance so we can plan accordingly.

Dog Rules: You are not allowed to leave your dog(s) inside the yurt while you are away from the property. You must take your dog(s) with you. Please pick up all of their poop, whether it's in the snow, dirt, mud or grass. If you need doggy bags, please let us know and we will be happy to provide them.

For the safety of wildlife, and your pets, keep an eye on them and do not let them run off into the woods, or away from the general yurt area (which is plenty of space). We have all the animals in the area including skunks, porcupine, deer, elk, turkey the occasional snake, and all the large predators such as cougar and bear.
