- "If all you're looking for is a good clean place to stay, this Super 8 is alright. Bed is a bit lacking but for a few nights it was comfortable enough. The furniture is servicable but definitely been bumped around. I definately just need a place to sleep, not to impress and this place was just fine. Nice and quiet too. No loud street traffic. The shower was great, good water pressure, nice shower head. Cant tell you about the pillows, I bring my own. A/C worked good. Nice cafe to eat at , easy to walk to, on the corner. Jacuzzi was closed first few days, but did open . We did enjoy it. We didnt use the fitness room, nor did we have their breakfast. Desk clerk, Marsha offered suggestions on local dining, which was really nice and we did enjoy eating at : Bobs Bitchin BBQ, Dino's Bar & Grill, Ope Haus in Barneveld, and the Cafe on the corner from the motel. There is a pool and nice nice ànd warm hot tub. Again, for one hundred dollars, i was surprised. The pool was actually large with an area for basketball hoops , 3 actually. 2 nice waterslides for the kids. 1 slide off pool too. There's a small area for kids with a large water fall type sprinkler. The continental breakfast was nice. Juices, coffee, cereal, waffles, sausages, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, yogurt. Again, for $100 very nice and really everything you need. Everything was so very clean and organized. There was a little diner but we didn't check that out. A cute hotel, smaller, and very much, exceeds, $100. Though we don't make it up to Wisconsin Dell's often, i would definitely stay here again. Again, very clean, simple, and friendly staff. Truly, there is nothing that anyone could complain about. It's well kept and someone should be proud to have this delightful gem. "

- "This is a wonderful old property. Historic Mineral Point construction. There’s a nice box in the property explaining its history. Everything in the center of town is walkable, including Pendarvis and for us the wordlanders gathering. I hope I’m able to return." - "The cottage is beautiful & a perfect place to stay in Mineral Point. Unfortunately, we spent so much time outside the cottage we didn't get to enjoy all it had to offer. I would have liked to have a relaxing cup of coffee outside on the patio, but we didn't have the time. Located in Wisconsin's Driftless Area on 240 acres of conserved prairie and woodlands, Dalsoren House offers a tranquility you will not find anywhere else. As a guest of Dalsoren House, you will be able to explore and enjoy restored grassland prairies, oak savannas, a pine relic, and a Class I-II DNR Trout Stream (Gordon Creek)- all without leaving the property! You can observe a wide variety of native species including red-headed and pileated woodpeckers, sandhill cranes, badgers, bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, rusty patched bumble bees, hill thistles, compass plants, and much, much more. After a day of exploring, you can relax around the firepit (we supply all the split firewood you need!) to the sounds of the spring peepers while watching a beautiful sunset. Once the sun has set, the rural night sky offers wonderful stargazing opportunities away from city lights.

We have mowed paths around the farm for you to explore nature. We do recommend you bring hiking boots/shoes, rain jackets, hiking pants, insect repellent, and sunscreen so you can enjoy the great outdoors comfortably. Conservation efforts on the farm are ongoing, and we partner with local, state, and federal organizations to carefully plan efforts from prescribed burns to native plantings. Dalsoren House was built in 1975 by Mary and Steve Thompson when they returned to the family farm to take over the dairy operations from Steve's parents. Mary and Steve used the barn as inspiration for the design of Dalsoren. They harvested the lumber from the farm, employed all local contractors, and did a lot of the work themselves. They incorporated a variety of unique features - such as stained glass - to create a truly one-of-a-kind home for their family. In 2020, the Thompsons did a complete restoration of Dalsoren House - again, using timber sustainably harvested from the farm and employing local contractors. The restoration was carefully planned to keep the original character of the house. The Thompson family (including a very friendly Labrador named Ole) still lives on the property today in the family farmhouse (built in 1901).

As of 2021, Dalsoren House has a new kitchen, bathroom, roof, windows, and sidings, as well as new furnishings and appliances. Dalsoren House can sleep 4-6 people comfortably. There are two bedrooms (1 queen bed and 2 twin beds) as well as 2 twin roll-away beds.

- Heating and Air Conditioning: The house has central heating for cool days in the early spring and fall. For those warmer summer days, each bedroom has an air conditioning unit. There are powerful ceiling fans throughout the house as well.

- Accessibility: There is a poured cement sidewalk to the house. There are three steps up to the front porch - the porch has railings. The house is a loft-style with two bedrooms on the second floor. The ground floor has a bathroom with an accessible shower, rollaway twin beds, living room/great room, and kitchen. Please contact us for more information.

- We are aways happy to welcome pets of any kind (cats, dogs, etc.) to Dalsoren (limit of 2)!

- WI DNR Fishing Licenses are required to fish in Gordon Creek. https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/Fishing/outreach/FishingLicenses

Big Valley Ranch's Log Cabin sits hilltop on our 1000 acre property. Fifty + miles of trails are yours to discover on foot or by mountain or fat bike, snow shoe, or horseback. The Log Cabin is one of four homes on Big Valley Ranch and features two bedrooms, one bath, kitchen, living room, patio with dining area, and it's very own rock formed fire pit (wood not provided). The rustic cabin décor and windows in every room reminds you whether inside or out, you are surrounded by nature. Our cabin has one bedroom located on the first floor with a walk out to the back yard patio. The second bedroom is a loft on the second floor accessible by a permanent ladder and overlooks the dining and kitchen area. There is a brand new heating and air conditioning unit which makes this property usable year-round. There is a wood burning stove in the living room (for looks only) as well as a flat screen TV. If the rain brings you inside, enjoy some board or card games or catch a game on ESPN. But when the weather is nice, there is plenty to enjoy outside from the trellis to the trails! We are a bring your own horse facility, so we do not currently provide horses. We also do not allow hunting or motorized vehicles/toys on the trails. We are a short drive from Governor Dodge State Park, where you can have fun on your own equipment if desired. We do have plenty of outdoor games such as bags, frisbee golf, crochet available to you. For winter fun, the giant hill right out front is perfect for sledding or snow shoe at your leisure.

Built in 1868, the Brisbane House won the Wisconsin State Historical Society's 2023 Board of Curators Restoration Award. This is such a special place and we wish to share it with you! It's listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places. You will stay in comfort and extraordinary style surrounded by historic appointments.

The main house (this listing) sleeps up to six. This does not include the summer kitchen bedroom on the first floor (it can be added for an additional $300, read the "fine print" below). This listing includes a a queen bedroom on the second floor and a queen bedroom and two XL twins on the third floor. A new full bathroom and den with guest closet are also on the second floor. A new full bathroom is also on the first floor.

The galley kitchen has beautiful cabinetry and is well-equipped (vacation bakers will enjoy the rolling pin, pie plate, jelly roll pans, and more). The locally harvested cherry table with benches seats six to eight.

The living room has seating for six+ and you can put your feet up in front of the fire, play a game, or watch a movie. It’s fun to hang out with the glittery portrait of Abraham Lincoln. If you must, we’ve got work-worthy wifi, a place to sit at a desk, and a small library in the upstairs den.

In the warmer months, hang out on the screen porch with a cup of coffee or glass of wine, or kick around in the yard, play croquet, build an outdoor fire in the fire pit. Since we’re on 18 wooded acres, you can also hike the surrounding area on trails, managed by the Prairie Enthusiasts, up to Rattlesnake Ridge to the river valley overlook. In the winter, use the snowshoes to tromp around or drag the saucer sleds to our neighbors’ for an exhilarating run!

The Brisbane House is a place of inclusivity. It was built in 1868 by an abolitionist from South Carolina. We are honoring his legacy by showcasing museum-quality art by nationally-known Black artists. Yes, you can sleep in the same room as a Mickalene Thomas or Sam Gilliam, or hang out with a Kara Walker!

We’re right off of the Frank Lloyd Wright Trail, so hop on and take the short drive into the neighboring town of Spring Green (10 miles) to check out their charming downtown with a bookstore, shops, and restaurants. Of course, you’ll want to take a tour of Taliesin and go to see a world-class play at American Players Theater.

So come to absorb the peace in the woods, to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, hold a family reunion, gab with your book club, or celebrate a holiday!

A note on our eco-friendly practices: Soaps and cleaning products are either unscented or contain organic essential oils. No synthetic fragrances or fabric softeners here. Environmentally friendlier bath towels are "quick dry." Most of the sheets are organic cotton.

Brisbane House has been lovingly restored and it's all about inclusivity, great comfort, beautiful scenery, extraordinary style. Built in 1868 by an abolitionist from South Carolina, we've restored it so you can enjoy your down time, celebrate with friends and family (and Fido--but please disclose), and feel emboldened by the spirit of Brisbane to create positive change in the world!

Altogether, up to ten guests can comfortably stay. The main house sleeps up to six. There is a queen bedroom on the second floor and a queen bedroom and two XL twins on the third floor. A new full bathroom and den with guest closet are also on the second floor. A new full bathroom is also on the first floor.

We've turned the old summer kitchen building into additional bedrooms, so it sleeps four more. It's attached to the main house by a connector that also has a new full bathroom in it. The summer kitchen is not actually a kitchen anymore. The first-floor is now a gorgeous new bedroom with a four-poster queen bed surrounded by windows. Above this bedroom is a loft. A loft ladder goes up to two more XL twin beds upstairs. The screen porch is attached so you can hang out or eat your meals out there.

The galley kitchen has beautiful cabinetry and is well-equipped (vacation bakers will enjoy the rolling pin, pie plate, jelly roll pans, and more). The locally harvested cherry table with benches seats up to eight.

The living room has seating for six+ and you can put your feet up in front of the fire, play a game, or watch a movie. It’s fun to hang out with the glittery portrait of Abraham Lincoln. If you must, we’ve got work-worthy wifi, a place to sit at a desk, and a small library in the upstairs den.

The Brisbane House is a place of inclusivity. It was built in 1868 by an abolitionist from South Carolina. We are honoring his legacy by showcasing museum-quality art by nationally-known Black artists. Yes, you can sleep in the same room as a Mickalene Thomas or Sam Gilliam, or hang out with a Kara Walker!

In the warmer months, hang out on the screen porch with a cup of coffee or glass of wine, or kick around in the yard, play croquet, build an outdoor fire in the fire pit. Since we’re on 18 wooded acres, you can also hike the surrounding area on trails, managed by the Prairie Enthusiasts, up to Rattlesnake Ridge to the river valley overlook. In the winter, use the snowshoes to tromp around or drag the saucer sleds to our neighbors’ for an exhilarating run!

We’re right off of the Frank Lloyd Wright Trail, so hop on and take the short drive into the neighboring town of Spring Green (10 miles) to check out their charming downtown with a bookstore, shops, and restaurants. Of course, you’ll want to take a tour of Taliesin and go to see a world-class play at American Players Theater.

So come to absorb the peace in the woods, to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, hold a family reunion, gab with your book club, or celebrate a holiday!

A note on our eco-friendly practices: Soaps and cleaning products are either unscented or contain organic essential oils. No synthetic fragrances or fabric softeners here. Environmentally friendlier bath towels are "quick dry." Most of the sheets are organic cotton.

Some fine print: Most stays in high season have a three-night minimum. Please inquire if this really will not work for you. Also, if you are interested in a ground floor level rental for two only, let's discuss. The summer kitchen bedroom (which sleeps an additional four can be found on our listing #2620893). The loft ladder in the summer kitchen is just that--a loft ladder. There's a septic system that can't take grease or coffee grounds down the drains or anything but TP down the toilets. Well behaved dogs are allowed ON OUR PROPERTY ONLY but for an additional fee. Please respect the speed limits on the roads as others are enjoying country life, too! Trail will take you right into Mineral Point also to shop around. Watch the deer, turkey, and other wildlife come right through the backyard. We are located just outside of town. By 🚗 you can get to town in under 2 mins. OR use the Cheese Country Trail for a nice stroll 🚶‍♂️ that will take you right to the bottom of High Street with many shops, bars, and restaurants.
We are located on 12 acres 🌳 and you are welcome to roam our trails right down to our pond. Our ducks are growing fast! They are fun to watch play in the pond. Have a seat and enjoy the sunset 🌅 from the bench overlooking the pond.

You may see us around as we also live on the property and may see our boys running around on their 4 wheeler. Feel free to say 👋, we love to interact with our guests.

You are welcome to roam all parts of our land. Follow the mowed trails. Just keep an eye out for boys on their ATV. The pond trail is for walking only and they will not come down that trail with vehicles for safety reasons.

This is our guest house located on the same property we live. It is a totally separate house and you will be able to enjoy everything to yourself in privacy. You may run into us outside or in the yard however. Feel free to say hi! We love to meet our guests. Feel free to walk around the land and use our mowed trails as a guide. The trails will take you right down to our pond and loop back around. If you're quiet enough, you will likely see a lot of wildlife!
Please drive slow in and out of the driveway as we have kids and animals always running around the property.

Celebrate Wisconsin’s cheese heritage in this award-winning, A-Frame cabin, shaped like a wedge of Swiss cheese! Enjoy a peaceful getaway on this idyllic sheep farm. Live simply, unplug and decompress. Wake to the sound of morning birdsong, sit under the stars by the firepit at night. Fish in the class II trout stream. Walk the trails in the woods. Cabin has no wifi, no water, and solar-powered electricity. Access to wifi service and your own private bathroom and kitchen is a short walk away. Cross country ski from the cabins back door directly out to Blackhawk trails. Local attractions: Taliesin, Spring Green, American Players Theatre, House on the Rock, Cave of the Mounds are all an easy drive from the farm. Close by the town of Mineral Point boasts charm and fun activities for all ages, with a bustling high street full of restaurants, cafes, art and pottery galleries. Farm also allows easy access to surrounding towns (Dodgeville, Highland, cobb, Linden etc) and is an hour from Madison. There is ample parking at the farm. We are in a remote location best accessed by car. There is no uber / lyft service in this area :) There is no electricity in the cabin, but there is a portable solar generator that can be used to charge phones, run a fan and / or heater etc. No internet is available in the cabin but a network is available in the kitchen area.
