This eclectically decorated 1600 foot home offers A/C or Heat in each of our spacious rooms with all the amenities: Fully-stocked kitchen with all the appliances to delight a gourmet cook, a working office, spacious living room with fireplace, and a cozy and fun bar/lounge. Dogs are allowed to stay at Casa De Azul! Please make sure they don’t chew on furniture. The property has Cactus plants in the yard, please be careful with the Dogs.

Sleeping Arrangements between queen bed and two twin beds (trundle) have very little privacy! Please keep in mind if sleep privacy is important.

Desert wifi can be super spotty and can go in and out. We have the best service for our rural area but people needing full time high speed might not find those needs met here. Not suitable to work from home from this location.

PLEASE NOTE that names of streets on maps and on street signs often differ in Morongo Valley, and some roads can be quite difficult as they are not publicly maintained. Please be sure to follow our turn-by-turn directions.

• POOL AND HOT TUB HEATING:
- The hot tub is always free to heat.
- However, during the cooler months, there are extra charges for pool heating, see below.
- If you want the pool heated during these months, please let us know 48 hours before you arrive.

No jumping, diving, running or rough play near the pool. No glass can be around the pool and hot tub, there are plastic cups in the kitchen to be used outside. Please mind the quiet hours (no loud noises after 10pm). No intoxicated persons may use the pool or hot tub.

- "The hosts were great about providing information ahead of time regarding access and even some points of interest. The dirt road off the highway is a bit rough for a vehicle that isn't used to driving dirt roads, so it took us about 10-15 minutes to drive up to the front gate from the highway. We stayed in the Athena cottage, which is basically a studio cabin. Perfect size for my partner and I. The kitchenette was sufficient for us to be able to cook full breakfast and dinner. The air conditioning was a wonderful welcome from the outside heat. We hiked around the property using the provided map and stopped at the pool for a dip. Of course being in the desert, the insects wanted to join us. We had a great time in the peace and quiet of the property and found it located close enough to town that it wasn't too inconvenient if we needed to go pick something up. We will definitely recommend and return."

The space
Sitting on 5 acres, on a hill overlooking Morongo Valley, with the San Bernardino Mountains serving as a backdrop, a private road will bring you home for your stay. You'll be minutes from Joshua Tree National Park, Palm Springs, Yucca Valley, local hot spots, and stores.

As you settle in, you'll be provided robes, slippers, toiletries, coffee/tea, and high-speed Wi-Fi. The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances fit for a chef, and a dining nook that seats four. A queen bed, yoga mats, vanity, and a touch of decor wait for you in the bedroom. You'll find a vinyl record player, acoustic guitar, classic games, a 65" TV, and a fold-out sofa in the living room. A corner workspace has two stations available.

The outdoors offers plenty to do as well. Enjoy a cup of coffee as you watch the sunrise in a swinging egg chair. Stroll through the garden and surrounding wilderness of desert flora. Let the valley wind rock you in a hammock. Gaze at the mountains as your inner kid rides the swings. Huddle around the fire pit while kicking back in Adirondack's. Guest access
Make the turn off of Highway 62 (29 Palms Highway) onto a dirt road and drive for about 1 minute. Usually smooth, rains can make it a bit bumpy. The inside is ideal for 2 guests, however, we can easily accommodate 4. The couch in the living room converts to a queen-sized bed.

Please note that we have 12 dogs, 2 mini-horses, 2 mini-cows, 4 goats, 7 pigs, 7 emus, and one giant Sulcata tortoise in addition to a host of other smaller animals like chicken, ducks and guinea pigs. This means that you really must love animals to enjoy your stay here – they’re all friendly and will definitely come to say hello. Many of them you can hug and cuddle, and if you need help making that happen let us know 🙂

Here are some of their names, in case you're wondering. Dogs are Baby Shark, Tilt, Little Bear, Saucy, Lapsang, Souchong, Ocho, Squigs, Junior, Pancake, Loofa, and the Ancient One (aka Crouton). Pigs are Piggie Smalls (aka Big Pig), Skinny Pig, Nice Pig, Scaredy Pig, Clem, Dudu, and the little pink new guy TBD. Emus are Early and Later, Blondie, Spike, Later Jr Mr. Pecks and an unnamed rare white emu. The tortoise is Comrade and the horses are THOT (that horse over there) and A Horse With No Name. The cows are Big Head and Bug Eyes. Goats are Zoomer, Nugget, Maniac, and Girl Goat. There’s more, but we’ll leave it here.

Our beloved livestock guardian dogs, 3 Anatolian Shepherds and 1 Great Pyranees (all rescued) diligently protect the ranch from coyotes and may bark at night. We understand that this may be bothersome to some guests and we provide earplugs as a courtesy to ensure a peaceful night's rest.

We stayed in the Art Deco guest house, two cozy rooms and a gorgeous walk in shower was perfect for my partner and I. The kitchen has essentially everything you need to cook your own food other than a microwave. We loved that the house was very open and the living room was right next to the kitchen so we could put on some records while we cooked. (Loved that they had Patsy Cline records) I do recommend bringing extra towels with you if you plan on using the tub and the shower. I also recommend asking Vanessa to get the tub going for you if you want to get in right when you get there as it did take about 3 hours for it to be warm enough to enjoy. They were also kind enough to come down with a golf cart to pack our stuff in so we didn’t have to trek it up the gravel driveway. I can’t wait to come back here again and I also wanted to note how great it was to see how well taken care of not only the property is but all the animals as well, they all look so happy and are very friendly. The Morongo Hideaway Casita sits at about 2,500 feet above sea level on 2 acres of desert mesquite, piñon, palo verde, olive, acacia, sumac, pepper, yucca, and juniper studded desert at the foot of the Sand to Snow National monument at the eastern foot of San Gorgonio Mountain (the highest peak in Southern California). The Morongo Casita is attached to our beautiful ranch house and has a queen bed, a full bathroom with bathtub and a newly remodeled kitchenette. The casita has a beautiful wood burning stove, perfect for romantic nights in front of the fire.

Set on 2 acres of fenced land, you can meander amongst the gardens in peaceful communion with the desert. Morongo Valley has historically been known for its water, for the underground streams that flow from San Gorgonio mountain to the Big Morongo Canyon below. The trees and lush desert vegetation are a part of this natural habitat and home to many quail, rabbit, hummingbirds, butterflies, lizards, and road runners. The 263 species of birds and 74 species of butterflies that migrate through the Canyon preserve often make a stop in our trees! Be prepared for some wonderful birdwatching!

However, be assured that when you book our Casita we block the calendar to the main ranch house so that you have the property to yourselves. We are located in the mojave desert in the hills above the historic community of Morongo Valley. The ranch is situated on a residential street at the top of our quiet neighborhood. Morongo has primarily been home to ranches, homesteads artist residences, and spacious properties. This desert valley community has been known as the gateway to the high desert. Our property rests on the ridge overlooking the valley, on 2 private fenced acres backing up to the hills. Down the hill is a neighborhood of locals, vacation homes, and ranches. Our landscaper of 20 years lives across the street. On the highway are local coffee shops, cafe, gas stations, boutiques, a post office, and the cactus mart (the premier spot for buying cactus and succulents in the high desert area).

Morongo Valley, located in the mojave desert, is a small community of artists, second home owners, and locals. This historic valley was once the primary home of the Maarrênga’yam, "people from Morongo", of the Serrano band of Morongo Indians, and is known for its water, flowing down from the San Gorgonio mountains into the streams that helped great the Big Morongo Canyon preserve and oasis. The natural resource of the canyon as a historical space and ecological habitat was in need of protection in the mid 1900s. The Audobon Society, The Nature Conservancy, and concerned locals worked with the BLM towards the creation of Big Morongo Canyon and Covington Park. The Covington family and others donated land to the conservancy for protection, and they created in the park, an art colony and nature center. The community of Morongo has sought to preserve and celebrate the beauty of the valley. The canyon is now officially a part of the Sand to Snow National Monument!

Sight Seeing in Morongo Canyon • Just up the hill from the property is the boundary of the Sand to Snow National Monument with thousands of acres of protected land. We are just 2 miles from the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, a desert oasis and one of the largest cottonwood and willow riparian habitats in California. Founded by the Audobon Society and Nature Conservancy, it has been designated as one of the United States’s Important Bird Areas by the American Bird Conservancy.

The ultimate writer's & thinker's retreat. Impeccable attention to detail, great collection of books, steps away from the stunning shared swimming pool, hot tub, and outdoor kitchen at The Sea of Tranquility. Enjoy perfect quiet & solitude, or meet the host, who lives in the main house a few hundred yards away.

The Library is very private and separate from the rest of the compound. So you can either retreat or engage with others by the pool. There are lots of hikes in the hills behind the property, with miles and miles of government land as beautiful as anything in the park. Full kitchen, luxurious bathroom, with double shower and enormous separate bathtub.

Our evolving desert compound is located a mile & 1/2 up a dirt road, on 6 acres, adjoining 100s of acres of gov.t land. Nobody under 18 is allowed on the property. The pool and jacuzzi is 80 feet long. Ideal for soaking, sunbathing, and swimming laps. Pool area is clothing optional. Most go naked in the hot tub (which will be hot at sunset and into evening, year round.)

We try to cultivate an atmosphere of freedom, relaxation, creative community, and communion with nature. We get many return visitors and we have to remind ourselves some of our dearest friends were once guests. That said, we also enjoy and respect people’s right to a private experience. Please do the same.

There is a fire pit, but please only use if there is absolutely no wind and it’s not too hot and dry out. Bring your own wood.

- "We were looking forward to staying here! Lived up the the hype. This place is magical and it was our second vacation rental in two days and we chose it because the first half of our trip would be very busy and hoped we could unwind a bit there. We arrived a little later than we had hoped so it was a little hard to find the cabin because we couldn’t see. Recommend arriving before it’s gets dark and carefully reading the Tao’s directions. Our little Tesla did make it up the winding road, thankfully. The entire cabin is dreamy. We had hoped to stop by and pick up dinner but we didn’t plan out that out as well, luckily we had packed snacks so we could do a charcuterie and we were happy to find that there were plates and some nice glasses. We enjoyed the night sky and did a little star gazing and took some pictures. The tub is wonderful and I took full advantage of it. Wish we would have stayed longer to check out the books more so. The bed is comfortable and the ac works great! We did see other people who were staying but it wasn't weird at all. Would 10/10 recommend! No curtains on windows and sliding glass door doesn’t lock but wasn’t an issue for us, might be for some. Hope to be able to return. You can tell a lot of thought and love was put into making the cabin as charming as it is."

We wanted to inform you that due to high winds in the area, we will not have pool umbrellas available during your stay. Unfortunately, the windy conditions can easily damage them, and we prioritize your safety and comfort.
We wanted to inform you that the outdoor mini fridge has been removed. However, our indoor fridge is fully available for your use! It’s perfect for storing food and keeping your beverages cool.

PARKING:
The large driveway can comfortably accommodate up to 10 vehicles. Please open the gate and park inside the fenced area, as the road area belongs to the neighbor.

INTERNET:
The house has good internet access through the satellite on the house. Cell reception may be spotty depending on your carrier. You can access your Hulu & Netflix accounts with the Smart TV.

To protect your own health, safety, and the integrity of tub and linens, and to ensure the cleanliness and proper maintenance of our facilities all guests must shower before and after using hot tub.

• We kindly request all guests to rinse their feet, bodily oils, and lotions before entering the hot tub and pool area. Failure to do so may result in the accumulation of dirt, debris, and contaminants in the water, which can compromise the overall experience for all users.

• No pets of any kind or size in hot tub and pool.

• Alcohol is not allowed near the hot tub and pool.

• Please do not stand or sit on hot tub or pool cover.

• Children must be supervised at all times.

• The hot tub is big and takes 1-2 hours to completely reach the desired temperature and avoid the urge to add hot water from the stove, as it will damage the hot tub.

The space
Sitting on 5 acres, on a hill overlooking Morongo Valley, with the San Bernardino Mountains serving as a backdrop, a private road will bring you home for your stay. You'll be minutes from Joshua Tree National Park, Palm Springs, Yucca Valley, local hot spots, and stores.

As you settle in, you'll be provided robes, slippers, toiletries, coffee/tea, and high-speed Wi-Fi. The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances fit for a chef, and a dining nook that seats four. A queen bed, yoga mats, vanity, and a touch of decor wait for you in the bedroom. Make the turn off of Highway 62 (29 Palms Highway) onto a dirt road and drive for about 1 minute. Usually smooth, rains can make it a bit bumpy. The inside is ideal for 2 guests, however, we can easily accommodate 4. The couch in the living room converts to a queen-sized bed.

This spacious studio is adorned with vintage accents, wooden features, and a charming antique bathtub as its centerpiece. Large windows allow natural light to flood the space, offering an unobstructed view of the stunning San Jacinto mountain range. The decor is a delightful blend of cherished heirlooms passed down from our grandmothers, along with carefully curated finds sourced from estate sales, yard sales, and online markets.

Step outside and immerse yourself in five acres of stunning landscape, complete with mesmerizing amenities that offer a breathtaking view of San Jacinto looming over the valley. You will also be warmly greeted by our friendly co-hosts - a delightful menagerie consisting of 12 dogs, 2 mini-horses, 2 mini-cows, 4 goats, 7 pigs, 7 emus, and one giant Sulcata tortoise in addition to host of other smaller animals like chicken, ducks and guinea pigs.

Here are some of their names, in case you're wondering. Dogs are Baby Shark, Tilt, Little Bear, Saucy, Lapsang, Souchong, Ocho, Squigs, Junior, Pancake, Loofa, and the Ancient One (aka Crouton). Pigs are Piggie Smalls (aka Big Pig), Skinny Pig, Nice Pig, Scaredy Pig, Clem, Dudu, and the little pink new guy TBD. Emus are Early and Later, Blondie, Spike, Later Jr Mr. Pecks and an unnamed rare white emu. The tortoise is Comrade and the horses are THOT (that horse over there) and A Horse With No Name. The cows are Big Head and Bug Eyes. Goats are Zoomer, Nugget, Maniac, and Girl Goat. There’s more, but we’ll leave it here.

Our beloved livestock guardian dogs, 3 Anatolian Shepherds and 1 Great Pyranees (all rescued) diligently protect the ranch from coyotes and may bark at night. We understand that this may be bothersome to some guests and we provide earplugs as a courtesy to ensure a peaceful night's rest.

Sitting in the main courtyard of the sanctuary, this 2BR hacienda is filled with art deco + vintage finds from the High Desert region including a 70’s-era bed with built-in a 8-track stereo (that works).

ANTIQUE BARN
Not too long ago, this 1940's era barn was just that – dusty, rusted, with a barn door painted pink. We've spent six months painstakingly renovating it into a gorgeous antique studio with antique objects from around the region – and those inherited from our grandparents. Sleeps 2 (1 queen).

IRIDESCENT STAR TOWER
The Star Tower is a two-story microdose of a tiny home full of the mystical and the reflective. On the first floor is an outdoor kitchen (with all the fixings) covered by a fractal, iridescent, kaleidoscope overhang – one of the boldest art pieces on the property. Inside is a twin bunk bed and a bathroom.

FLOATING CONTAINER
This tiny home container floats above the desert on a sea of mirrors. Drawing from both Scandinavian design and Japanese minimalism, it is impeccably decorated, with crisp, clean lines and simple but elegant furnishings. It may be tiny, but it has everything you’d want in a getaway: a comfortable queen, a well-stocked kitchenette, and a gorgeous porch from which you can view San Jacinto mountain in its unobscured, shockingly beautiful glory. Here are some of their names, in case you're wondering. Dogs are Baby Shark, Tilt, Little Bear, Saucy, Lapsang, Souchong, Ocho, Squigs, Junior, Pancake, Loofa, and the Ancient One (aka Crouton). Pigs are Piggie Smalls (aka Big Pig), Skinny Pig, Nice Pig, Scaredy Pig, Clem, Dudu, and the little pink new guy TBD. Emus are Early and Later, Blondie, Spike, Later Jr Mr. Pecks and an unnamed rare white emu. The tortoise is Comrade and the horses are THOT (that horse over there) and A Horse With No Name. The cows are Big Head and Bug Eyes. Goats are Zoomer, Nugget, Maniac, and Girl Goat. There’s more, but we’ll leave it here.

Our beloved livestock guardian dogs, 3 Anatolian Shepherds and 1 Great Pyranees (all rescued) diligently protect the ranch from coyotes and may bark at night. We understand that this may be bothersome to some guests and we provide earplugs as a courtesy to ensure a peaceful night's rest.
