My husband and I got to Nagano station and the only train to get to the ryokan was out of service and we had to take a bus to the snow monkey park with all our luggage and the ryokan used their shuttle to pick us up. The staff also had amazing English and explained everything the ryokan had to offer as well as helping us with how to get to our next location. Aside from the staff being great, the room we stayed in was amazing (we had the traditional futons, you get to wear traditional yukatas during your stay, and you have access to 6 or so onsens on the premise (you can privately use alone or with your partner/friends/family) and all 9 public onsens in the town. - "What a gem! Shibu Onsen Ichinoyu Katei is an experience in itself. A short ride from Yudanaka train station, this tradițional ryokhan is excellent. As soon as you arrive you will be greated by the hotel manager (okamisan) who is attentive and will answer any questions. Dinner and breakfast were included in the price and the food was amazing. Traditional food was prepared with attention to the details and served by lovely staff. Be punctual. Dinner at 630 and breakfast at 730. There are nine public onsen which can be accessed by a key you will receive at the hotel and the hotel has its own onsen, one inside and one outside with a view of the montainous horizon. Room is trafitional japanese. Confortable sleep. The snowmonkey park is not far and you can get a lift from the hotel and will be dropped off nearby the park. You will the walk about 15 min to the entrance, hiking through the gorgeous forest with extremely tall trees and hot springs. The snowmonkeys are adorable. Amazing memories."

It has a private driveway attached but since we didn’t drive the kids turned it into a giant snow playground and had so much fun. We did have some issues with the fixtures but again the team spared no effort in rectifying them quickly. We would defined stay here again next time we are in Hakuba."

Room was decently spacious, we had a quad room 2 beds with 2 more beds with the loft so could fit up for 4 people. Pros: Walkable to Goryu Ski Resort, there are a couple of bars/restaurants within 2 minutes of walking. There is a place to store your skis/snowboard equipment and its a heated room so your items can dry. The owners will cook for you (extra cost) for breakfast or dinner (never tried it, but others staying here said the food was solid). Con: You can only use the shower from 4pm - 9:30pm and its on the bottom floor. There is only 1 shower from what I saw. Ended up just using the onsen at Goryu Ski Resort every night after skiing to shower. The main shared bathroom only has 1 stall for the men's side, but there is one downstairs on the main floor too. "
